In the long run this experience might help Komatsu find his own method of preparation for the full course. Right now he's just getting advice from the God Chef.
Toriko III: It's Over!!
-
-
Hey this arc cant be over yet. The current situation doesn't look like how it does when Komatsu calls Toriko
-
So an animal that as always run away from predators all it's life, out of sudden because of komatsu
dickfood luck is totally okay being butchered and grilled alive.
That's really mess up. -
Except they are chefs, not predators. But anyway…
Volume 37 has revealed Heracles capture level.

Chefs are still a predator to it. It's not like they never had any intention on not eating it.
-
It just occured to me that Ichiryu may have secretly lived.
-someone provided the data for the riddle chapter to Mansam
-his soul is missing
-he'd be great at safe zoning himself. He could use gravity to erase his own presence and scout Neo freely -
So an animal that as always run away from predators all it's life, out of sudden because of komatsu
dickfood luck is totally okay being butchered and grilled alive.
That's really mess up.Didn't something similar happened with the Billion Bird? Like, he loved the fact that someone actually wanted to cook him or something? That's sad like hell. And anti-natural.

Dat capture level doe…

Yeah, in general an ingredient chooses its chef. It was stated so in that Billion Bird mission and definitely before then.
[hide][/hide]It was also stated in the current chapter (350) by Kaka so we all are very well aware that ANOTHER, as an ingredient, choosing Komatsu to cook it isn't unheard of. The big difference is the Billion Bird was so unwanted it was happy for anybody to notice it and eat it. But ANOTHER being vastly more wanted and sought after and it being part of Acacia's full course, it just felt kind of too easy for it to be captured like that, by giving itself up.
Even finding the Billion Bird was harder than finding ANOTHER. Though I'm sure if the Billion Bird was hatched it would have walked right up to Komatsu but it doesn't change the fact that the challenge itself set up by the author to find that particular ingredient was harder than finding ANOTHER.
-
Wow more impressive than Heracles's capture level is its size and weight! 2 trillion tons and 20km!!! O_O
-
For anyone wondering just how big Heracles really is.
-
Something that big that walks around. How is there not more earthquakes going on?

Because Gourmet Cells are eating the earth and have made it much much bigger of course :D

Even still. The gourmet world where the characters were kinda in its territory or just outside of it. No termors? I dunno I know I shouldn't question the physics in this series. Just kinda bothers me something trillions of tons walking around doesn't cause more constant impact. It's poos would be newly formed crap mountains…

Doesn't he stay on one place? He seems to enjoy sleeping a lot.

Well there was that foot print and then it moved around to have its baby, and then isn't it squaring off against part of Acacia? I funno forgive me but this series has do much stuff going on I'm probably not remembering stuff in the right order.

Pretty sure not even Shima is sure how big it is.
!
!
If we weren't explicitly told Heracles made that footprint, you'd never be able to guess it was made by the same horse.

Yeah there's definitely some inconsistencies during these "impact" panels.

Are those same in volume versions? Just wondering. No big deal though! Take it like One Piece.

I'm not sure. I have volume 31, but not volume 33 for comparison with the latter example.

So Heracles capture level is 6200? And Bambina is stronger than her although he has a lower (6000) CL? 20 km…

Well he can't suck Bambina's air out and Bambina is pretty fast. But more importantly, Bambina level could greatly increase from taking out his shedding.

Capture Levels are probably like Dragon Ball power levels. Not really accurate in determining who is actually "the strongest". Also, wasn't Bambina being stronger than Heracles just a saying?

In theory, Whale King Moon is supposed to be the strongest in terms of physical strength, and who can really argue against someone with a literal black/worm hole for a stomach.
But at least where the story's concerned, it sounds more like the Dragon King or Guinness is supposed to be the most dangerous of kings to encounter. So overall yeah capture levels are more like bounties in one piece :ninja:

We all know Foxy's meager bounty of $24,000,000 belies his true power.
–-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alternate Comment: Are you telling me Chopper's $100 bounty doesn't accurately represent how dangerous he is?

Correct.
It's too high.

Well this kind of saying are usually true, but I think it was corrected.
Well I imagine the kings no being on such a scale they would stomp each other but Bambina seems like a perfect foe for Heracles. Just an extremely bad match-up(little, fast, and don't really need air). -
I was thinking more…well, maybe it's more difficult to capture a mountain range sized horse than a human sized monkey...how could you carry Heracles? Or an ultra giant planet sized snake like Mother Snake King?
-
Right in the feels. I bet Ichi-san is alive and kicking.
-
The Chijou part with her son was the best part.
RIP Asarudy.
I guess next chapter we are back to the present.
-
Damned ninjas cutting onions at my face…
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
I now finally understand the meaning of this page.
-
And then suddenly Asaurdy was the most important guy
I will sure miss him, I really grew to like him when he did that thing
You know uh, during the tournament where he…wait no...
...Well he exposited a lot and admired Komatsu? And something something Don Slime is Everything, and all problems are fixed, and all the poor people who got their souls removed can now never get soul-traded back so they really are dead for good, but whatever. This has really been Telling, not Showing the arc. Its just been so dense with words, explanations, words, lore, exposition, words, mechanics and words words words.
-
Though something doesn't add. Komatsu's hair is still too damn short when compared to what we did see some chapters prior.
So this is why ANOTHER wanted to be cooked in first place.
-
What is this? Did suddenly Asarudy became Senor Pink?
-
-
Haha, I think Shima is trying to make some kind of analogy here.
You have this all powerful being who is everywhere and is everything and he'd just watch this poor woman pray every day at an alter waiting for her lover to come back. All the while this powerful being knew damn well where and who Asarudy was every time he was brought back. For goodness sake the reincarnations even had the same name! Yet, he didn't say anything to this woman or Asaraudy. In fact, he was in charge of this whole program and is ultimately at fault for how their lives turned out. Don Slime, you asshole.
Besides that an ok chapter overall. No, I don’t care ANOTHER split up into more ANOTHERS because it's already been explained that the ingredient chooses its chef and the reason why ANOTHER chose Komatsu was because it wanted to share its flavor. Its death wish does not need to be covered up by offspring/clones. It's fine, it's accepted. Still doesn't fix the disappointment of how easy the ordeal of getting it was though.
The emotional moments were touching. More so the little baby flame. The other was really messed up and completely preventable.
What I'm really disappointed in was that this whole arc was supposed to be about cooking. This was really the chefs turn to shine and what we mostly got were skipped scenes, single panels covering everyone's hard work, and even in the soul world where all that mattered was cooking skill(?) only Komatsu got to shine and we barely saw him do anything. Now they're kinda kicked out of it…

He can't be seen by or interact with anyone who hasn't eaten PAIR so even if he wanted to tell that woman about Asarudy, he couldn't.
I don't know why people keep condemning Don Slime when he himself admits that he's nothing but an appetite filled with malice and ill-will. Much like NEO, he doesn't appear to care about anything but the Full Course. Anyone and anything else is nothing more than a means to an end, any consequences incurred onto others is of little concern to him.
-
Time sure flies by so fast. It almost feel like they entered the Soul World just 2 chapters ago.
-

Seeing as how he has the ability to turn himself into "anything" including the natural surrounding environment of Blue Grill I'm pretty sure he could have made himself known if he wanted to.

Sure, but overall I actually do like Don Slime's character. He may be a major asshole but he's pretty badass.

It's all those temporal safe zones that are getting to you. Messing with your sense of time. I'm sure we've been there longer…I'm sure...I think I'm sure...
But not to worry we'll be back there in some form or another because of this
[hide][/hide]Unless Shima pulls a Shima and we only see his journey through some texty dialog as he relates the story to somebody later on. Like, oh yeah, I went there and this is what happened. You're only going to see snippets but just trust me when I say the voyage was awesome.
-
I'm still salty about how things went down in the end, but I like this chapter overall. The part with Chiyo was nice and touching, though It's still weird with her turn from a backstabber to being a sympathetic character. I assume she had her mind switched by that knife, but it's still akward in some ways. The main problem is that I don't remember the part where she talked about her son before this, and her character was underdeveloped so it didn't hit as hard. While it was sudden, I also liked Asarudy's little backstory.
Good chapter but once again an arc with potential wasn't given everything it could've. Now we go back to where we started 10 chapters ago and see what happens from there. I'm not exactly filled with excitement at the upcoming stuff, because I feel we are going to skip over the interesting stuff and have nothing but texts of exposition and fights that aren't as fun as earlier Toriko.
-
I'm a little confused. What are the consequences about the Soul World Gate to broken? And the Gourmet Demons are, in fact, the souls of men? So Toriko isn't Toriko but Red and Blue Oni?
Don Slime possessing Asarudy's body will lead to his defeat by the hands of Neo…damn Ichiryuu...What bothers me more is that we haven't see Moon at all yet!
Overall I think this is the ugliest arc in the entire manga.
-
So, what happened to the Neo tumor thing that was surely gonna be the climax of everything this arc?
And did Don Slime just eat Acacias full course offscreen? Or is he going to do that now? The whole project was for the revival of Ichiryuu though, so Idunno. It just seemed like a big deal.
-
It feels that everything they do is supposed to be a big deal, but we just don't get that impact. I remember in the mammoth arc where getting the good meat was supposed to be huge. They explore inside it and come across it, and the big deal was that it gave a power boost and allowed the team to safely make it out. Silly, but there was some emphasis. In this arc, we have a number of things that are supposed to be huge. Pleasing Don Slime, the project going on 1000's of years to make a full course, catching another to allow for new tastes and eat the full course, getting the materials for the golden cookware, making the golden cookware, capturing Another. Each one of these things is supposed to be a huge deal, but they all just happen and move forward.
Don Slime decides they're good enough and they are on their way. The gourmet knights get the materials with no hurrah, and the cookware is made with no hurrah. Komatsu is able to make the various dishes with no problem, cutting down the expected time to do everything from 1000's of years to mere days. Another just decided to let Komatsu cook it and there is no huge thing behind it. Last Another is prepared and cooked in a chapter, and we get the gate destroyed which all this happens in the regular time seconds after they entered. All of this happens which is supposed to be a big deal, and it's all presented as if it's nothing.
The big problem lately is that with all these "amazing" feats happening all the time, nothing seems impressive anymore. When you have all these things happen in the span of a few chapters, it just lacks any impact as well. The character moments can still be nice, but nothing else really works because there is no world building, there is no tension to be had currently, and any build-up is swiftly finished and swept under the rug.
-
Another breeds correctly when cooked correctly. At least its suicide made sense.

I'm gonna disagree here, theres too much World Building. The arc is supremely dense with comprehensive information about everything, and theres just so much stuff (even if the actual Blue Grill arc is just 14 chapters). It reads as a stream of raw, unfiltered ideas- as if this is just a direct adaptation of Shimas notebook. Theres new characters, creative designs out the wazoo, big reveals, power plays and world changing events, theres character beats, and an incredible amount of concepts rules and mechanics about spirits, gourmet demons, time bending, soul trade, Full Course projects and back channels…
But all the connective, narrative tissue that gives it all meaning has been left completely by the wayside. Characters are left underdeveloped, drama is half-hearted, and the decisive moments hit with close to no impact because it comes across as just ticking stuff off a list. This arc is seriously some of the most baffling non-storytelling I've ever seen. -

Chapter after chapter of text which most of the presented information feels unnecessary or too much for the current situation, it gets saturated. So yeah, we agree on the same stuff, I just done goofed and made the claim there was no world building. Do you want me to send apology money to the regular place, or should we meet up for an exchange this time?

Another breeds correctly when cooked correctly. At least its suicide made sense.
I think some sea creatures dies when they give birth. But I can only think of Octopuses and Water Fleas.
-
The cooking of another would've made sense if it was cooking the eggs. Imagine, Another has one egg which 1000's could be born from. First you have to traverse the back channel to try and find it. The difficulty would come from the fact that it takes a long time to get to places, all while you are being drained. After that you have to carefully cook the egg so everything inside is cooked perfectly. This takes time and requires special techniques to cook everything evenly. With everything cooked evenly, they can open it with a different another to be served to each spirit and person. That would work better than a dead ingredient spawning all these little ones.

I guess find it perplexing how you can be surprised by his indifferent behavior regarding this poor woman when we know what kind of person he is already.
