Luffy will save Shanks and beat BB.
By doing both he'll repay Shanks and surpass BB.
Will Shanks die?

I don't see shanks dying, I see him being beaten. If he does die however, I see him taking his own life before bb kills him.

Maybe blackbeard takes his other arm

I voted "No" since the question is "Will Shanks die?" as opposed to "Would Oda go so far as to kill Shanks?"
So far there's nothing indicating Oda has this planned and he's unpredictable even when there is something indicating something and also usually resurrects "dead" characters about 92340930 times an arc even when they do "die". Of course, the only accurate option any of us could select is "I don't know", but having to choose yes or no based on sheer probability, I went with no. -
I would love it if Shanks would stay alive, but then again, I said same thing about Ace.

everyone dies one day

I think that's too obvious a move for Oda to make, he wont.

When it's been set up for years, it's okay for something to be obvious.

Reposting old posts from this thread from over a year ago.
@Robby:Luffy and Blackbeard's final battle will be a pie eating contest with no real stakes or emotion behind it. That's what people seem to want.
Well, when Oda has been very deliberately and blatantly telling us exactly what he's going to do for years now… Raftel isn't the end, that just contains the revelation that sets off the giant war that follows it.. which has been flat out promised at this point.
Hell, people paying attention have been drawing this conclusion since SKYPEIA. (Zeph has an old thread around here somewhere that pretty much laid it all done note for note... and then years later Whitebeard spelled it out exactly in the war.)
One Piece ISN'T random shlock where "anything can happen because!" and I hate that mindset keeps getting used. In terms of plot twists, new characters, powers, and minutia, Oda can be outrageous and extremely unpredictable, but for the meat and potatoes storytelling he's extremely structured and solid, and as a result, it's pretty easy to pick up on the long term broad strokes because Oda meticulously foreshadows and sets things up in advance, sometimes years ahead of time. (Unlike other series which DO seem to make it all up as they go along.) For instance, Laboon.
There's opinions based on emotion and gut.
And then there's educated theories based on evidence and understanding of storytelling and the author's style.
These two things are not equal.
Similarly. "Jinbe will likely join the crew for reasons A, B, C, D, E, F and G, his characterization and role in the world is unique because H, his design is unique because I, and his role in this one event is unlike anyone else"
is NOT the same argument as
"I think that girl is cute and should join the crew." -

That sounds lame as hell. No matter how I try to look at it.

if he takes his own life I see him trying to take by along with him. "If I'm dyin', I'm not doin it alone!" And stuff.

i think blackbeard might end up killing shanks's crew but shanks himself will survive probably thanks to his crew. like they save him so he can accomplish some goal. in the final arc when luffy takes on the world government shanks will join luffy's crew and possibly die in battle. shanks joining luffy's crew would be the ultimate sign of luffy surpassing him and it would mean a ton to luffy.

Shanks is dead meat. End of discussion. Blackbeard & crew versus Shanks & crew (which is 100 %, without a doubt, bound to happen) can only end one way: Shanks & co dying (or at the very least losing, which, in my opinion, is unlikely compared to dying, because what else will actually make Luffy and Blackbeard's final confrontation personal). Never mind that the main villain killing the hero's mentor is 'cliche': it makes so much sense from a narrative and thematic standpoint, that, quite frankly, if Oda chooses another way to deal with their inevitable confrontation, I would flabbergasted.

Well, we know he can't succeed in taking BB with him, so it would be a fail. On the other hand, causing BB permanent damage in his desparation attack would cheapen Luffy's fight against BB.
Best I can see is Shanks somehow making whatever goal BB wanted to achieve inaccessible. Like, for example, BB was about to get his hands on ancient weapon or a map of directions to Raftel, and Shanks destroys it. Sort of like how Whitebeard in his dying breath nullified everything marines hoped to achieve by their public execution. If Shanks really has to die, I'd like him to throw a big wrench into whatever BB had planned before that. Imagine BB really pissed off and worried. No laughing, no jokes, just cold sweat and a big fat vein on his forehead. A victory that doesn't bring him as much as he expected and creates him a shitload of new problems, but doesn't reduce his own fighting power. I'd be okay with that, as long as he doesn't eat too many pies for comfort after it.

I will hate the day Shanks finally die. But if it happened just like your theory, I'd be content with it. It'd even be better if whatever that final piece to Teach's grand plan had been safely delivered to Luffy (by Rockstar). That way, their battle would be personal for both Luffy and Teach.
