I'm watching the anime version btw. So far, I'm really enjoying this series, has some great likable characters ( there isn't a character that I dislike as of yet so far), lovely mini arcs ( such as the! memory loss arc, Kaguya's father arc, Gambling arc, etc..), great openings/endings, OST, voice actors, etc… such a great show and I enjoy every minute of it so far. Will be taking my time with it though

Haha the Hashirou's mother arc one of the best! Good that you like all the charachters because if you're at Benizakura, there is at least half of them that haven't been intorduced yet! You can watch the movie adaptation of Benizakura, it has new musics (by Does, the singer of Shura, the ending of Benizakura episodes) and some more gags.
However be careful in this forum because there will be a lot of major spoilers here. -

Great chapter. It's been too long since last time we saw Zura using his bombs! Loved the picture of the three of them bullying the Shogun!
So the yato arc is confirmed, it seems that Abuto and Umibuzou made a secret pact. If not how did the baldie guess where was Takasugi? -

Welp, finally caught up with this series after two previously failed attempts. What a great series. The comedy is hit or miss for me but when it gets serious, it's some of the most hardcore awesome shonen ever. These last fifty chapter alone have been a gold mine. What an absolutely great time to catch up to this series. When the small comedy arcs are over and now we're balls deep in plot!

They are doing between 477 and 480 right now.
The manga is at 559.
The opening has hints to Zura's rival, so that's at least another arc, and I don't remember if they finaly adapted the ramen arc, and a bunch of the bakuman parodies are still unadapted.
I tought that I saw Saito's character (the guy that never speaks, and has orange hair) recently in color, but it could have been just his volume cover. I didn't see him in the opening.
The opening has already been acomplished, as everything despicted in it already happened. Unless the Kondo as a cockroach hasn't happened yet.
Oh, and Snot Diamond hasn't happened yet. They are jumping around a lot.

Ch.502 to ch.559 wont maybe show up until they cover the rest

The opening and ending teased are gonna get the assasination arc sooner than expected(which would imply the manga is gonna end sooner than expected).

While its not clear because the episode did it weird, the thing that played in the middle is the ending and the one at the end is the opening. Compare it in tone, format and energy, the one with gintoki's past, action tones, heavy bouts of melancholy, and characters whimsicaly flying around, and a more energetic song is the op, while the one with the SD characters, stills, more focused scenes, and a more low key suggary song is the ending.

Well actually, looking at what has been left to animate up until the shogun arc and then comparing that to how the anime usually does episodes in term of pacing they could easily fit most of this into 20 episodes. Obviously standalone stories can be paired into two with similar themes but arcs that are 3 long like the Ramen and Glasses story could be made into one episode each if they wanted.

Zura the boss of the week!
! First he beats shinsengumi in the anime and now in the new chapter and getting all serious I think for the first time in the whole manga! Loved the "Piccolo" part when he threw his jacket!
About the ending, I just thought of something. Takasugi, although being the most important character in the Shogun assassination arc (on par with Gintoki) he is under representated in this ending. We only see him very briefly and only parts of his body are shown. So I think, and that would be just great if they do it, we will have another version of this ending when the arc will begin but with Takasugi replacing Gintoki parts. A little like Benizakura ending where Takasugi and Gintoki had exactly the same time of appearance!

No Love Arc, no Ramen Girl/Katsura Arc, not even the Tama mini arc with the Soda machine.
Makes zero sense if those arcs get animated after the Assasination Arc, its….so out of place.

the ramen girl arc is especially frustrating to not have. Although we do have 3 unknown episodes left and the ramen girl could be made into 1 episode.

Forgot to mention the Idols arc.

I believe those arcs can (and will) be animated after the shogun assassination arc.
It doesn't have to make sense (that's what the manga is for). Just insert a few "breaking the wall" jokes to explain that the story will be interrupted so they can get over those few leftover arcs. -
Then they would be pretty much shitting on the Shoguns death and basically treating as Kishimoto treated Nejis death.
I also forgot about the Hasegawa mini arc with the siblings.
Kagura final might last until next week. Which leaves 2 episodes left…

Are they rushing the end of the anime with airing this arc so soon due to bad audience? Is not it one of the most popular anime in Japan? Anybody has these stats? It could help us understand this mess…

Gintama has been beating the likes of DBS in the DVR ratings.
I guess it has to do with the manga selling less than a dead series like Bleach..

Well that doesn't make sense if they have good ratings. I hope they will do all the missing arcs (especially ramen girl arc) after the shogun assassination arc. If they don't they can miss something important for the future. Sorachi's speciality is to hide very important details in funny episodes
