Hitsugaya has had more action this arc than the main character.
To be fair, pretty much everyoe has. Even Chairzen killed the blobs.

I think its a miracle that Ichigo had the chance to display his power against Thunderbolt girl.

Yeah, but not everyone is lame and boring as Hitsugaya.
Having to look at him show new ways of freezing air while there are so many Shinigami with undiscovered potential was too painful.
And he always goes straight to bankai whenever he can, unlike most of the other captains that are capable enough with just shikai.
Never understood why a character so bland is so popular. He did show some promise in SS arc, but that went nowhere.
He's a white haired shotacon who cares for his "waifu", or whatever he thinks of Hinamori. I guess a significant amount of fangirls keep his popularity up. And he has some okay interactions with whatshername.
Lots of problems with Hitsugaya. I believe he is the character that annoys me the most in Bleach.
Thing is, Hitsugaya is the epitome of what Kubo believes to be a cool character and that is a terrible thing to be.
He was very likeable back in the SS arc, when he was, I believe, what he was conceived to be - a serious but sensible kid who cared most than the others and could see what really mattered while all the others were falling for distractions. But then Kubo (or his editors) realized that Hitsugaya was popular, very popular, and was time to slowly turn him into a "cool Bleach character". From then on, every time Hitsugaya appears he becomes worse. More full of himself, with more expressionless faces, looking at the horizon while attacking an enemy for the sake of onlygodknowswhy, throwing one-liners at every possible occasion, never seeing his enemies as worthy or his equals but always trying to come out as a superior being 24/7. He is that spoiled teenager who is always bored and full of angst and sees himself as all-knowing.
He is far from being the only character like that. Rukia becomes like that whenever she is fighting, Renji became like that now that he came back from the RR (sure, now he is cool, not a loser anymore with real emotions) and Byakuya is the very embodiment of that (but with Byakuya you can see where that is coming from, he grew up as the noblest noble actually believing to be a superior being, although I would like to see him being proved wrong, but I don't think Kubo has that planned). Heck, even Tousen, my favorite character, is like that, but thankfully Kubo always screw him over so he ended up losing his face. It is just that Hitsugaya is the one that is like that the most because he is always there and always getting fights.
I am perfectly fine with him when he is offscreen, though. It's just when he comes in with that face that… urgh... but as long as he stays in the backline during the next fights I won't have a problem with his presence.
Come to think about it, I don't think there was ever a captain who got his ass kicked as much as Hitsugaya.
One of my favorite moments in Bleach is Aizen trolling Hitsu to stab Hinamori.
That part was hilarious, but the rest of the entire Aizen fight was so unbelievably meh.

We still don't know what compelled her to fly up in the sky and attack everyone.

Isn't that true with every character in bleach,? I mean aside from a couple of characters, kubo tries to make his characters hot shit but they end up looking like they're full of shit.
We still don't know what compelled her to fly up in the sky and attack everyone.
For all we know Aizen could have made her think some hollows were attacking Hitsugaya or whatever. Or that pink rabid rabbits were trying to tear off Matsumoto's clothes. Well, Matsumoto was out of battle by then, but you get what I mean. And we don't know when exactly he switched places with her.
That scene doesn't make any sense. Was Hinamori up there when Sui-feng attacked? If so, how she managed to survive the "two hit instant kill" power of her Shikai? If it was Aizen and he only changed places with her in the last minute (she was unconscious afterall, she couldn't fight back on her own), how he got out of Hitsugaya's ice and placed her back in a way she was perfectly frozen in his place?
Seriously…
I'll admit that part was always wonky. When you think about it, Kubo could have gotten the same final result even without encasing Aizen in ice.
Best explanation I have is that he didn't plan the entire fight out, or did, but kept changing his mind, then wrote himself into a corner. I guess it got tedious trying to think of all the ways Aizen could fool enemies with illusions and trying to find a plausible counter to it, so he just dropped it.
At least it's fun to picture Aizen placing Hinamori up there, then going back to the ground and laying down pretending to be her unconscious body while waiting for the cue to get up.

Don't forget the fact that Ichigo just stood there and watched it all happen.
I like to think that Aizen putted Hinamori there just like Dio was pranking with Polnareff.

Because of that part, I always thought Aizen did a last second change. But too many things don't add up. Really, it could have been done a lot simpler.

On the other hand, we have Shinji, which always seems like he is hot shit, but always ends up getting screwed by other´s full of shitness.

See this is why I can't bring myself to hate Hitsugaya completely. Especially since he's witnessed his best friend getting physically and mentally harmed by the captain everyone perceived to be nice. Then during the Arrancar invasions, you see Hinamori on her feet, but she's still out of it when she communicates to Hitsu and Matsu (saying Gin was the real villain, denial)
Perhaps it was Hinamori herself that saved my virtrol. I've always had pity for that girl, along with Nemu and Orihime.

On the money here.
Rukia becomes like that whenever she is fighting,
Rukia got hit hard
She used to be fun and spunky, just as hot-headed as Ichigo but also capable of being more reserved and rationale to his actions. The two made the perfect duo to lead the series in my eyes, but I think somewhere during Hueco Mundo she stopped being a main character. Like after Aaroniero's fight was done.
Then with fullbringers and Vandereich, she acts like own brother when she fights these days - disinterested and whanot. Where's the Rukia with the bunny drawings, kido in a school uniform, and verbal sparring with Ichigo?
I just remember we still need to see Pernida's backstory…Maybe.

Being reserved for a situation that's not a life or death struggle? Not that Kubo doesn't revel in the occassional mood whiplash.
So we will finally see Shunsui Bankai rather soon I guess.
He is very far away from others at the moment and I guess its one of reasons he will go for it this time. When Shunsui wanted to go Bankai against Starrk we had Ukitake stopping him and saying that it would be bad if his Bankai would be seen by others. Possibly it affects any person who is seeing it or seen it - kind of similar to Rose and his Bankai affecting enemies by sound.
Also its bit too early for us to see Uraharas bankai or even Shinjis.
As for Hitsu discussion - its a waste of time to Hitsu-hate 100th time people.
We live once people and there is very very very high chance there is nothingness after it so really respect your time..
I just remember we still need to see Pernida's backstory…Maybe.
Yeah, I was waiting for that too. As per Kubo's usual habit, there are more mysteries popping out instead of ones that are answered. I can only imagine Pernida's past (or why he sided with him) being addressed in the least informative way by Bach, complete with his all-knowing smugness.
I guess there wasn't much spot for Pernida's backstory to fit in since everything was just a set up for Mayuri and Nemu's backstory, especially focused on the latter's.
So since Renji, Rukia, Nanao and Hinamor were the only vice captains who weren't sniped by that guy…. which ones were? I totally forgot how many people were in Shunsui's group.
I just remember we still need to see Pernida's backstory…Maybe.
Kubo skipped a lot of Sternritter backstories. This will probably be another.
I'm more interested in the Miracle backstory and how he turned into a Thor fanboy.
@Watch-man:

I always forget that Inverted world is a Shikai. Seriously, that thing is strong like hell. Too bad it's wraped around plot nerf.

Hisagi, two of Ukitake's forgettable vice captains and Isane are some of the victims. Maybe there are more, but I can't remember exactly either.
And where are the ones that got sniped?
Maybe they were left in one of those houses with Isane to tend to their wounds, though.

I like to think they just moved forward ignoring they.
Mayuri, what a man, saved the best character and became one in the same chapter. Shit happens next week, i've never liked Shunsui.
The X-Axis guy seems like Bleach's staple of smug and boring character, so I'm skeptical that we'll get something remotely as interesting as we had in previous fight. Yeah, show us Shunsui's possibly op bankai already damn it.
I like to think they just moved forward ignoring they.
That's probably the only explanation. I mean, captain-level shinigami like Urahara can sense Mayuri's faraway reiatsu disappearing, so he should have realized the moment Hisagi was incapacitated and figured something out from that point on before it was too late.
Come to think of it, weren't some of the remaining vizards/visoreds also in their group?
They probably kept going on because if they stopped Lille would simply shoot everyone down. What I don't get is why Shunsui, who could avoid that as we saw this week, waited all this time to do something (although, IIRC, he mentioned in a previous fight that his zanpakutou is a moody one and he has to wait until it is willing to play).
two of Ukitake's forgettable vice captains
Alas, poor Sentaro and Kiyone. Loved them when they were introduced in the SS arc….and sadly, they never got much exposure after that.
Weren't those two 3rd Seats?
Weren't those two 3rd Seats?
Yep, Rukia took the vice-captain position after the time-skip IIRC.

That's one of the huge no brainers that Kubo did, adding two third seats. Why two? Kubo's constant urge to add more and more characters will inevitably lead to forgotten characters like these. Even in the Soul Society arc Bleach has had way too many characters.
The worst example in the SS arc was when Renji was getting healed by Hanataro Yamada and for no reason he brought along his friend from the fourth division. We knew nothing about him beforehand, but when he was introduced he says that he joined the Shinigami because of Renji, pointing to a tattoo that mimic's Renjis. What?! Why did we need to see this character? Why was he even there when Yamada could have healed Renji and be done with it? Why so many charactersssss

The hell? When did that happen?
Also, the 2 guys that got assign to Karakura only to have their asses saved by Ichigo and never show up again. One of them was featured in a cover…
Yeah you'd think the gotei 13 would be a little insightful and know that karakura is a hotspot and post stronger shinigami.

I have to agree, even if SS introduced a lot of my underexposed favorite side-characters. The Gotei 13 captains and vice-captains introduced at least 26 new characters within a few arc, throw in 10-15 more when you count Kukaku, Ganju, and various named Shinigami.
And the four giants! Giants! Like wolf Komamura, I have to wonder…..how did those people arrive if Soul Society is 90% regular looking dead humans?
We knew nothing about him beforehand, but when he was introduced he says that he joined the Shinigami because of Renji, pointing to a tattoo that mimic's Renjis
Aw crap, I actually know that guy's name, Rikichi. Renji is probably not the best choice if you want to be inspired to enlist in the Hollow-hunting militia.

Wow, that's amazing.
According to Bleach Wiki, his debut wasn't actually that chapter, but actually in chapter 59!

So taken out of context, this guy actually has a complete character arc, in a way. But because he's so forgettable and buried under everything else, nobody can really cares. I mean, holy crap, how can you spend time in something as pointless as this while ignoring the context of everything else?

Seriously, why set up a character like this if you aren't going to actually use him in the story?
To make people write novels about Bleach.

Poor Isane. Still rooting for her to get some spotlight. It'll be hard with a snipeshot wound but she's Unohana's pupil. She can handle herself.

I could tolerate this nonsense a lot better when it was Mayuri fighting a giant hand
Mangapanda translation is balls again.
And that make's two attacks from behind in a row already! One for each chapter. Looks like we're going back to more of this one-upping again.
Seriously, when Kubo goes all "let me explain in full detail how this works, seriously, you'll love how clever it is!" I'm just left behind, eating dust in the rain in a corner of my room.
Like. . .nope. Not excited, not following you, not engaging.
It's time for some more "huh, you thought X? Well, it was Y!". "I actually knew it was Y from the get go, I just made you believe I thought it was X". And so on and so forth. . .
4/10, needs more rocket boots.
8/10.
crappy explanations (partially blamed on panda), crappy abilities, smug faces, general trolling, shit talk, attacks from behind and deceptions that make no sense but just leave a bad aftertaste.
Welcome back, classic bleach!
we just need more people screaming "ichigo" and some really shitty wham lines that only azien could deliver… for the true 10/10 experience.
There was so much Kuboism in this chapter I don't know what to say. Scumpanda striking again didn't exactly help anything either.
