Food Wars - It's In the Trash

English version is out by Casanova but it's already on RMT and MangaReader
Anyway, in the next chapter, Kuga beats Tsukasa but Soma beats Kuga and as a result, Soma will be allowed to challenge Tsukasa.
-
Lol at Mimikasa tracing the Sumo group. There were a bunch of cameos this chapter.

Huh? Why would the 8th seat suddenly beat the 1st seat? That's screwing with shonen power levels!

Do you think they only get to challenge the seat directly above them?

Do you think they only get to challenge the seat directly above them?
No. I just think it would be random for Kuga to beat Tsukasa. They only recently introduced an order of strength in numerical order, which I'm strangely fond of, so there's really no reason why these power levels would suddenly go topsy-turvy.

Likely him beating Tsukasa would only allow him the right of a shokugeki.

Casanova version is out.

I thought that you could challenge the elite 10 anytime you want, it's just that most consider it suicide, and Kuga refuses Soma's challenge because he's a little shit, that what he is.

It seems that time is an issue too. I got the impression that just maintaining the gap is time consuming it let alone reducing the gap.

! So a resounding financial income difference for day one. I'm gonna assume that Kuga doesn't get that Soma isn't challenging him in terms of profit.

! Maybe, everybody should have to assume that. :ninja:

! So a resounding financial income difference for day one. I'm gonna assume that Kuga doesn't get that Soma isn't challenging him in terms of profit.
! More like it just hit Soma that there's more to making a profit/running a stand than making good food. Because you're mistaken about that. This isn't a Shokugeki, it's literally a challenge of profits. He's trying to make more money than Kuga.
! Apparently this is a five day event, so we'll see how Soma tries to turn it around. -
! i guessing he is gonna making his portions smaller, so even the people who are waiting in line wouldnt mind eating one
-
I'm really intrigued into what Soma is planning, any ideas?
-
I know Readmanga version is out but it's crap so I'm just ignore their version.
! As Soma's cart is mobile, some users in mangahelper forum are suggesting that Soma can open his booth anywhere the crowds are. It's a perk of having a mobile booth. He doesn't have to open his booth in front of Kuga's booth. He could set up his booth in the main street area or any walk area that doesn't have booths.
However, I'm one of the few that find that this plan defeat the purpose of having a designated spot for the booths. If Soma can just blatantly place the booth anywhere he wants, what is stopping the other students from doing just that?! Other than having a stationary booth of course. -

-
How many days is the Moon festival?
-
Probably not going to happen because it's pretty stupid but just to throw it in here Soma could pull a Nintendo and create artificial demand by creating a situation of perceived rarity. Like the stand is only going to be there during certain time frames so the item in question can only be bought during those hours. From there the demand would sustain itself if the crowd waiting is going to be eager enough they'll attract more and more passerbys creating a loop.
Problem it makes no sense because to be honest even if the people from the first day had such a positive experience from the food and their word is going to spread I don't see that demand being specific and strong enough that all those people wouldn't just satisfy themselves with Kuga's stuff.
It would be pretty contrived if all those that ate it went on to evangelize Soma's Hujiao to the point that people would think that only that could satisfy their cravings. -
Frankly I don't want Soma to pull off a direct win. That would be kind of bullshit. Even if the demand for his meat surpassed that for the other dude's food, he couldn't possibly satisfy it with his setup. I'm kind of hoping for some other kind of victory, since Kuga said that Soma only needed to surpass him in one way, and even though Soma's fixated on sales now, he doesn't have to win at sales.
-
Well he could mwybe surpass him in demand. Food trucks are my weakness. If I find one near where I work I'm so excited. But when I have a craving for it it's usually on tbe other side if town >_<. Depending on if I can take a longer lunch or feel like taking my car I will make the trip, despite it being out of the way.
Er or what Darth said lol.
-
Since Soma seems to be doing something with the cart I considered the "pop-up" style as a possibility as well but DarthAsthma highlighted the problems with that quite nicely. Not really too much to draw conclusions from with going by what we've seen so far. I suppose maybe Soma could pimp the cart to make it more attention-grabbing… fireworks!
Perhaps a throwback to the Karaage arc and have the newspaper kid print out some nice wrapping papers for the hujiao bing? Kuga's place seems strictly sit-down and the opposite of Soma's which you can walk around and eat, so maybe they could capitalize on that somehow and advertise with the papers or something... with that Soma could pull customers from all over the campus instead of having to compete directly with Kuga by poaching from his crowd.
-
Well It'd be kind of stupid from the organization to allow a mobile stand if it has to be just in one place.
Yeah, I won't denied that the biggest appeal of a mobile cart is that you can place it anywhere you want. All the food truck I visit move around the area to make it accessible to customers.
While Soma's cart is small and doesn't occupy much space, it is unfair to all the other students if Soma can just place his booth anywhere he wants.
It makes having shokugeki just to get the ideal spot pointless.
Next year, Tootsuki may see an influx of mobile booth in the festival to take advantage of this loophole. If you can't get your ideal spot, just use a mobile booth! Now you can open your booth anywhere you want!:ninja: -
So? If its not in the rules is not against them. If it's meant to be, then gets patched in. Soma would be doing nothing wrong.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Or plot twist, soma gets expelled for using the heretic technology of wheels.
-
This is a three day thing right?
He's probably just going to travel around gaining interest in his cart on the second day and making sales as he goes,
and he'll end up in his original spot on the third day, followed by all the people he snared on the second day.
Seeing the crowd, some of the other customers will be pulled over out of curiosity. -

I doubt he will get expelled for using a mobile cart. Lol
I'm probably the only one who think Soma can't do that because is unfair. Next chapter, I'll most likely eat my words.
@MDL- it's a 5 day event.
-
It's not unfair, most students who arrive at this point in the school are so used to thinking of food as something that needs a kitchen and a set of standar stuff, that just don't think outside the box, or the dinning area. There's just no way that some of these dishes be made mobile.
-
I hope we will get the daily results of each area.
I'm especially interested to see the top 3 in the main street area.About the anime which has been great so far, I'm a little worried that it seems they're going to skip the kaarage arc. Hopefully they just changed the order of the events.
-
A mobile cart has it's own setback and flaws. Not only are there less employees but the work station and amount of ingredients it can carry is limited as well. This means the amount of food being sent out is still not on par with a large shop.
-

Why would they skip it? It's not like it's a filler arc that's never had what happens during it mentioned later on.
-
The karaage arc also sets up Eizan and his little grudge with Soma during the fall classic, so it seems unlikely that they'd skip it unless they just have Mimisaka there purely as an agent of Eizan for shiggles

Unfair in the sense that he can ignore his designated spot. Again, this is a pet peeve of mine. The school probably will allow him to move his booth freely when he does it next chapter.
If is a food truck with a proper kitchen and equipments, then it is possible. Of course, the students can't exactly afford a food truck.@Purple:

I'm thinking they will place the karaage arc as a flashback in the election. Maybe they will cover it next season.

I've done some rough math for fun on how many coupons Kuga has in that picture.
So I've looked at the coupon and to be generous was guessing that they're made of some kind of thin carton/slightly thicker paper.
Looked at home if I had something that could compare and found a somewhat thick delivery ad flyer which was about 1/3 of a millimeter.
Looking at the largest stack in the picture in relation to Kuga even considering perspective I would guess it's about to ~80 centimeters big**.**
The reason Kuga's been called small I would guess his height is about 155-160 centimeters and the highest stack looks about a bit higher than half his height.Looking at the stacks we can see and doing some rough guesses on how many of these stacks would equal up to one stack that would equal the highest stack we see, I've concluded that there would be ~5 80 centimeter stacks.
(Or less confusing I tried to rearrange all the smaller stacks in my head together to see if they would equal the 80 centimeter stack)So with that I've calculated about 12000 coupon tickets.
If we assume that the average person sits down for 20 minutes(we assume no wait time) to eat it would take 4000 hours to gain all those tickets if he could only serve one person at a time. Of course Kuga's place is bigger than that and I've calculated that if he opens for about 10 hours he would need a capacity of ~140 seats to get all those coupons.I think some of us already knew but I think this confirms that Soma is never ever going to beat him on numbers.
Like he simply doesn't have the production pipeline to compete even less so to make up for the deficit of the first day.
As I see it the only way he could achieve a victory would be on reception which I guess is actually somewhat possible? We may get introduced to a few food critics soon? Like if I were a critic I would definitely spend the first few days at all the E10 stalls and after that I would try out other stuff. The festival might have a day to day review guide with recommendation on what people should try. Which actually could have a strong enough word of mouth effect I was doubting to be even possible before.
Only problem with that is that this turn of events doesn't really involve Soma doing anything and it seemed like he had something else up his sleeve.
-
You've gotta keep in mind that the coupons could all have different values, too, for your math. We don't know what price Kuga sells his dishes for.
-
That's true I didn't think about people paying with several coupons. The math pretty much assumes that 1 coupon equals 1 meal.
I can see a 1000 and a 1500 yen coupon floating in the picture. -
You put WAY too much thought into that.
Let's see how Soma "Aw shucks" himself out of this one.

Nobody. There were only 8 finalists in the autumn elections, plus Erina

Wasn't the whole point to get the Elite Ten incumbant but as Erina is ahead of everyone, they were only meant to come away with nine? Oh well, that just means well see a late bloomer in the coming chapters.

It's not like all the elite ten will be replaced by first years. The new elite ten can come from different generations, they don't have to belong to the same one. Also it's not sure all the guys in the pic are going to be elite ten. Maybe some of them give up the academy, who knows.

I don't believe that there's any guarantee all of the finalists will make the elite ten, but those that don't will keep those that do on their toes.

Etoile is just soooooo bland

Yeah I agree, it's almost tarnishing my view of Shinomiya.
