I really enjoyed the first episode. I've forgotten some of the content from the manga so it'll be nice to experience it again.
Food Wars - It's In the Trash

Wait until episode 3 – that's when the series really starts to pick up.
I won't be dropping it, no worries. Enjoyed the episode quite a lot!

Me too, I was like "woha, was it really that pervy?". XD
Great voices, Souma and Erina got amazing voices, can't wait for next week when they meet each other and we get to see the ero scene of the god tonuge. XD
-
A little exagerated but the first episode was good anyway.
-
Man.
The art is SO faithful in this anime adaptation.
Impressed.I didn't care for the song used in the opening. Felt too mellow for some of the imagery. That ending though. I liked the last supper portion of it. Overall I liked the voice actor and the animation made me hungry.
Really? I thought Ultra Tower's song was fantastic. Especially that amazing intro.

Yeah. It wasn't terrible. But there was no…Umph when showing some of the more aggressive characters...Like whatshisbucket holding a knife and looking muderous. It was still kinda lalalala.
-
…I've just realised that I've been wrong in saying "Yukihara" all this time and it took the anime to point this out.

Some thoughts on the last chapter
! Well, this Internship Arc still looks like a transition period for me.
It is good to see that the manga doesn't need to rely on the shokugekis and that it will get even more serious from now on but this there is for now. I was expecting to see the progress of the other students from the Polar Star dormitory but aside from Megumi nobody will show up.
I know that it won't be easy to surpass the last arc but after showing something so ambitious the readers won't expect less, specially now that the anime is out.
Looks like Souma finally succeeded and will work way harder to finish his Internship now. I don't like the arc so far, it is too much centered in just a few caracthers and looks like a comercial for the spin-off, something the author is using while he is writing something better for the future. -
I don't read translations, did they keep Shinomiya & mom's thick country hick accent in this chapter?
It's kinda charming. -
Saw the first ep was fun, I think they could have done without the jiggling and the comical nature of it all would have been more prevalent but whatever.
I had serious trouble understanding what she said in that accent took me few times of reading ~_~ charm lost (in translation).
I've been enjoying these chapters away from Tootsuki a ton more than I did the last few election ones, count me happy. -
Well, casanova and viz have yet to release their trans, so as far as I'm concerned at least, the higher quality translations aren't out as of yet.
Edit: ah, seems casanova's released their translation already.
Edit2: seems like it was fine for me. Stands out as something of a country hick style for sure, wasn't particularly difficult for me to read her lines. So yeah, charming.

Was referring to the Japanese ;).

I missed Chapelle-Sensei.
-
The first episode of the anime had me interested so I started reading the manga. Admittedly, I've only read 14 chapters so far but I'm loving the manga. Better late than never I suppose!

I love this arc, it's like a training arc. In fact it is. Shinomiya is someone that recognised Soma and in doing so recognised that he himself has room to grow and shouldn't be so arrogant.
-
Just got everything I need for the fake-roast-pork.
Potato, shrooms, onion, thick bacon, red wine, mirin, shoyu, garlic…
Will have fun later on. -
I need to make that as well, but I should lay off the bacon for a month, I ate pretty fatty last week.

Also, do you guys think that author tries to cook any of this stuff?
-
Wasn't it said that the author gets advice and knowledge from an experienced chef?
I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the dishes are recipes she's used/seen herself. The author could also have been given good insight on how the industry works, and what kind of feasible challenges he can throw at the main cast.
-
I don't think either tosh or Tsukuda need to cook anything when their collaborator who is credited on every chapter is Morisaki Yuki, a famous chef and cooking show host. Obviously, before introducing a dish in manga, they gather together and have a tasting party to be able to properly convey the impression of the dish to the audience.
!
! Like this. -
Yeah, there's a consult with a professional chef that comes up with the recipes and provides information on the industry and gastronomy behind the food.
-

Well, ok, it is a training arc. But for me the pace is kinda slow and I feel like this arc is the beginning of something bigger. More hardships and more challenges are coming and my expectations rely on this assumption, so this arc doesn't interest me that much.

There are those that love training arcs and those that don't…

Morisaki Yuki wrote a blog post on the fake roast pork in episode 1. It looks really good!

Post your foodgasm as well.

Huh, I didn't think it would be that hard to find a picture of an orgasmic hanny but now I know I guess.
-
I made two. The first one (top) didn't come out quite how I liked it, so for the second one I changed the type of bacon and added a step of finishing it up on the pan while it saute in the red wine sauce, and it came out better.
They do taste great, a lot different than simple "mashed potatoes and bacon".It's very juicey inside and very much felt like a main dish.
And pictures while I was making them!
Potato, shrooms, onions, thick bacons
Red wine (Zinfandel), mirin (sweet rice wine for cooking), soy sauce, butter, and garlic.
I didn't use the rosemary though. As for orgasming hanny, I'm pretty sure I came across a scene like that in one of the games, but couldn't bother myself to go search for one, lol

Bacon!!!!!! Epic Meal time!

Aohige,It looks great. But then again, anything with bacon is delicious to me!
Curious about the cooking steps. Mind if I asks?
Did you add salt or pepper into the mashed potato? I guess with the bacon, it shouldn't be necessary. But the bacon I buy something is not very salty.
How many potatoes did you use For one log?
Did you need to cook the mushrooms and onion before mixing it with the mashed potato?
How long did you cook the "roast pork" for?
Thanks. -

So apparently there's a spin off coming out? Can anyone expand?

It's out already since last month.
-
Haha I think I really like the anime, episode 2 enhanced quite a few jokes to me, even made things funny that I didn't really laughed about while reading it.
Also some of the added context scenes have been nice, like Senzaemon being right there in back during Soma's test.On the other hand I guess I have to accept how overboard they go with their tastegasm concentrating more on the erotic aspect of them than the comedic nature.
-
Man the jiggle physics in the anime are really, really good.
I'm speaking of course, about the chicken gelatin cubes for the transforming furikake gohan.
-
It was always going to be this way.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
It's out already since last month.
That was a nice spin off, even if the entire plot was ripped off from chapter 1.

Thanks.I didn't add any salt/pepper because the wine sauce was adequate flavoring, but you certainly can.
One large potato made two.
No, do not cook the mushrooms prior to adding them into the potato.
The whole point of these shrooms is to soak in the juice from the bacon.
If you stir-fry or boil mushrooms, it will lose a lot of the absorption qualities.I baked it for 20~25 min in a pre-heated oven at 400 degrees. (200 Celsius)
Edit: I happen to stock all the ingredients for this episode's "transforming furikake gohan" regularly, so I'll be giving it a shot this week.

Wait, so the description of that dish was legit? It actually can transform?
-
@TLC:

Yes, although "cooling" the broth to gelatin-like form actually take a while. Even using ice water and fridge, takes like 40 min.
And once it's on steaming rice, they melt and coat the eggs and chicken with very savory sauce. The whole cooking process takes like an hour and half to make at the least, so Erina must have been one hungry girl by the time it was done.
-
I don't plan to watch the anime because manga is more than enough.
! But is this an example of a reference well done or what.

There's room for the aldini bross and nikumi before the lifetime of this ending runs out.

Alright, just finished cooking and eating the transforming furikake gohan!
Left is the furikake, and the right is on rice.
And here you go, made a gif of those tasty cubes melting!
And here's the cooking process, with pics.
!
! You need:
A. Soup: bonito broth 700cc (about 3 cups), few teaspoons of sake (or white wine), mirin, sugar
You can create the bonito both by boiling about 10g of Katsuobushi in 700cc water, then running it through a filter (kitchen towel will work) through a funnel.
This is how I made mine.
! 1. Cook 6~7 chicken wings until brown
2. Simmer the chicken wings in the soup made in A for about 30 minutes or until soup is reduced to half
3. Take the chicken out, set aside. Run the soup through net to clear any junk, then pour in a flat container
4. Place the container in ice water, and cool in the fridge for 30 min
!
! 1. Peel the chicken wings by hand, set aside
2. Scramble 4 large eggs
3. Pull the cooled soup out of the fridge, make sure it's solidified as jelly-like.
4. Cut the soup into cubes.
! Now place the cubes and chicken in a bowl, and cover it with scrambled eggs.
Then pour them over a hot steaming rice, and you're set! -
Alright, just finished cooking and eating the transforming furikake gohan!
That looks fantastic! Hope it tasted just as good!
-
Haha that gif is pretty cool how long does it take to melt?
