it was mentioned here various times that you can't access nicks american site from outside.
I really don't want to argue with you over such trivial matters. So no reason to get all stressed up.

Ohohoho! If you keep fighting in the Avatar thread, you will eventually fall in love. Be careful, with book 4 we might have a new wave of random and embarrassing romance.
-
Just caught the new episode. Seems to be setting things up nicely.

! So what's to bet Kovira put that bandit plane on the job?

@Light:
! So what's to bet Kovira put that bandit plane on the job?
! I don't think so. Kuvira just doesn't strike me as the type of person who would use underhanded tricks to get what she wants. She may be militant, but her heart appears to be in the right place.

! C'mon now, she's obviously gonna be the villain! She might believe she's doing it for the right reasons but I wouldn't be surprised if she was willing to use extreme methods like that to "unite" the Earth Kingdom.

! Oh don't get me wrong. Without a doubt she's the antagonist here. I just don't see her pulling anything underhanded or snakey like Tarrlok and Unalaq to achieve her goals. I believe the bandit problem is a legitimate concern of hers that she's trying to stamp out/reform. She confronts shit head-on like Korra, no bullshit. That's the impression I get. Of course I could always be wrong.

solid first ep.
I'm sorry I have to ask so dumbly but who the fuck is Kuvira? lol Did I miss something last season?!

She's was like Suyin's 3rd in command after Ai Wei or something. Captain of the Zaofu guard. She helped out against the Red Lotus in episode 8 and she was named in episode 12 of Book 3 after she saved Tonraq, if I remember correctly.

ah, I see. Thanks.

So? use a proxy, or ask nicely.

I sure love my VPN. Ain't no international borders gonna keep me from my Avatar. <3

! I wouldn't be surprised. She's going to have to eventually revealed to be dirty or do something despicable in order for her stop to be justified.
! Though given the President of Republic City is still "sort of" politically slimy and the soon to be Earth King is…something else, I suspect that the end game of the series might be more than just stopping Kuvira.
! Also, relevant.

I wonder what the kids took away from this episode. The content might have been a bit mature for them maybe?

The creators have said this was written for older kids from the very beginning anyways, but given the show's no longer on the Nick channel proper and only online, I think we can drop the pretense that the show is meant for Nickelodeon's
mainyounger demographic. -
! I think Kuvira is obviously behind the plane attack. Why would they have a plane anyway ? We will see…or not!
So we're 3 years in the future, nice. I wonder if Opal will actually get the screentime that her eyes deserved. I hope she can be in the show for more than her ship with Bolin...the bad guy officer LoL He even abandoned Pabu to Tenzin manly kid.
Badass Korra vs Badass Kuvira! I can't wait, this is a really good start (or rather a good continuity to the still fresh book 3)
I am not a big fan of Jinora new style, of course I don't hate it either.
What else ? Oh yeah! Airbender suit is sweet
Bah huh grr bwargh! May she rest in peace.

funny. i'm in canada and the nick ep loaded for me. (not watching it yet, I thought it was an ad when I clicked it)

! Agreed. The earth kingdom seemed to have a large bandit problem back in book 3, in the three years since the fall of the queen I can only see that worsening. So then she will be pitted against Prince Wu to see who will control the earth kingdom which is a bit complicated if Korra chooses to get involved and pick a side because neither of them has any sort of democratic claim to rule. One is essentially a Shogun, and the other claims the right to rule by birth.
! Also I thought Kuvera was sweetening up to Tonrok. -
! This chapters establishes some political alliances (tenously) that may lead to a full blown out war between nations. Will that be the aim of the book? One side with Kuvira and the other with all the other kingdoms?
-
! So I just took another gander at episode one… anyone else here suspect that Kuvira incorporated some sort of magnetism ability into her metalbending? It sure seems that way to me.
-
! I actually like how the potential villain isn't totally evil, like the past few have mostly been, kinda sorta maybe. Kuvira looks like she honestly believes she's doing good for her kingdom, though in a strong-armed, forceful way. She even has a love interest! This smells like a good, wholesome, not-blandly-evil antihero to me.
! And those sick metalbending moves, damn.
! Anybody have a guess why Korra's gone into an underground earthbending catfight arena? Maybe for rehabilitating herself and retraining some old skills? -
! Wow! This season seems to be off to a great start.
! Kuvira could be an interesting antagonist. What would make her truly great is if she isn't evil per se. It's interesting, because rough though she is in her methods, she seems to be clearly a better ruler for the Earth Kingdom than Prince Wu. I'm thinking Kuvira will want the capitulation of Ba Sing Se, whilst Prince Wu will sit there and want Kuvira to lose power … and Mako will have to keep him safe through all that. Though it may not play out like this, that would put Mako and Bolin on opposite sides of a very messily political conflict. And of course, Tanraq owes Kuvira his life, and that would make it difficult for him to oppose Kuvira politically, even if he had a decent reason to do so. If it's so tricky like this, he would be inclined to support her, no? Potential for a VERY interesting plotline here, but I'm not going to be overly optimistic :p
! Ah, and as for the plane, I sincerely hope that those are just well equipped bandits, not Kuvira's meddling ... But if it were her meddling, I think I would be okay with that? This is the sort of level of skullduggery which still leaves her as kind of not-evil.
! Quite a lot of characters only got brief look-ins in this chapter. Like Korra. Eagerly anticipating next week's episode! -
Man I can't believe that there is no mention of the best part of this first episode:
!
So great.
-
Aang's picture on the fish salesman's wall is the best thing this series (Korra) has ever done. hahaha
[hide][/hide]Ah, I miss that dork. It's too bad we didn't get to see what misadventures he got into as an adult.
Dat cliffhanger…
-
! Well, I figured Korra's road to recovery would be an emotional rollercoaster, but damn that was a great episode. This may be the first time I've really been rooting for Korra as a character. As great as most of season 1 was and as amazing as season 3 was, I think the most we ever got out of Korra were circumstances under which we wanted her to succeed. Korra's characterization as an avatar has been pretty tense, and the most development we've gotten out of her was the transition from expectation to experience as an avatar. I'm glad to see that they're exploring this in a more focused character arc. Korra isn't as fun as Aang and was definitely more defined by teenage angst (aangst?) than anything else, but they aren't second-guessing themselves on her character, which is paying off now more than ever.
! And if Toph as a swamp witch isn't the most perfect thing ever, then I don't know what it. -
! Hopefully we get to spend a little bit of time with the old gal and find out at least a bit of what she's been up to since she just up and left everything behind. Other than that, it was great to see her again, and I agree with Wagz's thoughts when it comes to Korra.
! Also, this is probably something only I'll find amusing, but Katara telling Korra about what Aang went through was funny to me. Like, she might as well have said "Bitch, my man lost his entire culture! Now, quit whining and learn how to walk again." Was I the only one who interpreted the scene that way? Probably. :D -

Such a great picture
-
! Toph needs some cats around her to make the picture perfect.
-
! Great character development? A nuanced and sympathetic portrayal of disability? A Spirit-Yorkie?!
! Okay, Korra. Maybe this season will be pretty good. -
Good episode. But I need more!
-
I really liked how they framed the episode with hints of stuff we saw in the last episode like
Bolin: "I'm gonna help out with reunification and stuff with Kuvira" or
Tenzin: "Hey don't sweat it Korra. Kuvira's got it under control right now"
or the letters and stuff. Also the writing in general was just really good at I think what season 2 was going for but really didn't hit, a protag that's hotheaded and has a lot of shit on her mind to deal with but has trouble figuring out what she's doing. Of course, the context helps a good bit when it first comes down to having an incredibly traumatic experience where you almost get murdered that literally leaves you crippledSo can spirits see the inner demons plaguing people? And how will Toph help out twinkletoes this time? Will we finally find out who the fathers of Lin and Suyin are? How does Kuvira relate to the red lotus, or is the red lotus subplot going to be suddenly dropped?
-
! OMG. Toph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
! Excellent episode all round.
Glad they showed Korra's journey over the past 3 years. -
! Toph needs some cats around her to make the picture perfect.
But that's too similar to the herbalist and Miyuki.
-
! Just came here to fangasm. It's freaking Toph! :D Can't wait to get more background on her and see how she will be able to help Korra deal with her evil spirit problem or whatever that incarnation of her is.
-
She's going to be a crazy mole old lady, not a crazy cat lady.

This had me in stitches omg I miss Aang too.

Well. Chap 3 is out.
! Pacificator that steped out of line vs spoiled monarch, I'm guessing that Kuvira will steep over boundaries with Varic's new tech, and is doing shady things to bring order, I realy REALY hope that the future "Earth Republic" is not just the earth prince with elections.
-
http://korraspirit.net/watch/the-coronation/
! Toph hasn't changed a single bit, lol.
-
! I'm incredibly happy the resolution to Korra's issues will take more than just removing the residue metal in her system. It's a simple way for her to heal in the end for sure, but it will still take her mentally recovering and overcoming her road block which was what I feared the show would gloss over once the metal in her system was revealed.
! Also liking how the conflict's rising up between Kuvira and Wu. After a rewatch of the season premiere Wu grew on me as a character and I'm happy it seems his character might have some growth by the end of the season. Also glad Bolin working for the dark side is understandable, and the show isn't undermining that Kuvira has done good even if she's also becoming a tyrant.
! The Eska cameo was fun until the final punchline. -
! I'm feeling that Toph was lying about the metal, and it's all psychological of Korra. Well, in the end it's mostly psychological, but the metal is too convenient. It could be a fine visual cue, but I think that her entering the avatar state by her own will is better than she sweating a drop of mercury.
