Gettin some major LOST vibes from that last scene!
Gravity Falls
-
-
Yeah, easily the most ridiculously wtf Lost-esque finale I've seen since… since Lost!
I want the ending couple of OST pieces though. Fucking amazing.
-
So anyone know what the code at the end was?
-
Try the gravity falls wiki.
http://gravityfalls.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_cryptograms Most of the secrets/cameos/easter eggs in the show has been posted somewhere on there. I'm looking through it now and learning tons of things I didn't catch/know about.! Like for example, did anybody else catch the Time Traveler guy in the episode? I didn't.
-
I'm not going to spoil it here, but the Gravity falls wiki has them all on their episode pages.
[hide]I was impressed with this episode. Not only with the great humor and writing up front, but at the little details. Not just the typical little details, but ones that, given their new context now feel like real pieces of the puzzle. Like Blendin Blandin, who appeared in the back of a scene. Originally, his appearance was a red herring, but now that his role and ability have been established properly and that the show's overall plot is moving forward, I feel like it has a greater relevance. The ciphers in this episode, too, seem to be setting up some shenanigans.[/hide]
-
Finished the episode. There were some moments I really liked. Like Stan talking with the kid's parents. And all those little heartfelt moments.
But overall, I was somewhat bothered the pace and convenient placing of events. The ending was pretty good though. I can't say it leaves me terribly exited, but it does make look forward to see what happens next. I'm guessing Pacifica is going to play the role as a season antagonist in the next one since Gideon's out of picture for now. Mainly because I personally feel Mabel needs some moments as great as Dipper has for most of the season. -
Holy shit.
That was one of the best season finales of any show I have ever seen. Gravity Falls has easily made it into my top ten, just with that. The animation, the music, the writing, everthing was superb. Also, I have a theory that I made that I'm just gonna copy-paste from my tumblr:
! okay so i was thinkin bout thing and first off, Stan is definitely NOT evil or anything. I mean, look how much he loves Dipper and Mabel! I definitely am NOT getting and ~evil~ vibe from him. But, he is down to some serious shit. Let’s talk about the portal now. According to this girl who cracked a code in dipper’s journal seen in gideon rises, the code says: “THE PORTAL WHEN COMPLETED WILL OPEN A GATEWAY TO INFINITE NEW WORLDS AND HERALD A NEW ERA IN MANKIND’S UNDERSTANDING OF THE UNIVERSE. PLUS, IT WILL PROBABLY GET GIRLS TO START TALKING TO ME FINALLY.”.
! So, what I think is, Stan opened some sort of portal to the Multiverse. And Gravity Falls was the only place he could open it. It has some sort of connection to the Multiverse, some sort of already established route that only a select few things can go through. (gnomes, monsters, all the shit you see in town). But why would he do this? To have mankind gain an understanding of the universe? Maybe. Cash? But I think its another reason.
! According to the Gravity Falls Wiki, and many fans, its highly likely that Stan has a brother, as he and the Twins share the same last name. I believe this supposed brother is Stan’s identical twin, who is stuck in the multiverse. And Stan is trying to get him back. See I think the relationship between Stan and his twin was just like the one between Dipper and Mabel. But even moreso. The two were the original ‘Mystery Twins’. They went around solving mysteries, or making them up, telling fake stories to entertain people. Just small stuff. But one day, they heard about this really mysterious town called Gravity Falls. Interested in it, they bought a cabin just outside of the town and began investigating. Under their cabin, they found a mysterious series of machines, and a weird portaly thingo. Eventually, they came across Journal 1. The two noticed that one of the pages in the book had a part of blueprints that looked like the machine in their basement and intsructions on how to work it. They started looking around for Journal 2 and 3. They never found it, though, and both gave up at a young age (20ish??) and went on with their lives. Stan’s brother started a family (which lead to Dipper and Mabel being born), while Stan himself became a traveling salesmen and a conman. Both men retired, and decided to spend the last decades of their lives resuming the search for the journals. Something went wrong, though. Somehow, Stan’s brother fell into the mulitverse and couldn’t get out. So Stan kept searching for the journals, for a way to get his brother back. He started up the Mystery Shack in order to support himself. And he’s been searching for the other 2 Journals ever since. That’s why Dipper and Mabel’s grandfather is never mentioned. That’s why he says “Finally, we have them all." instead of "I have them all." That’s why he says “after all these years."
! He’s finally going to get his brother back.
! But someone’s after him. Someone doesn’t want the portal opened. Bill? Some mysterious organization? The writer of the journals? And who’s ‘Blind Eye’? We’ll have to wait for season 2.
! And at the very end of the credits? Who’s the “TRUST NO ONE" directed to, and who aren’t we supposed to trust? Stan? I don’t think so? Bill again? The town? Wendy? Soos? The Book?
! Yourself? -
Yeah, that was an amazing season finale. I love that the grappling hook finally got some use, too…
-
Well with the season over, looks like the thread will probably be idle for awhile.
So I'll just leave this here.
A nerdist podcast with JG Quintel and Alex Hirsch, both worked on Flapjack, Quintel's the creator of Regular Show, and Hirsch is obviously Gravity Falls. Definitely think it's worth a listen. They go into the creative process in making their shows and give some interesting tidbits about their shows. And if anybody's interested, my list of Gravity Falls episodes for season 1. As it is right now, I think my rankings 20-18 are set, as well as my 6-1, but anything in between, 17-7, can change at the drop of a hat.
As always, be warned of ramblings and giant blocks of text. Mostly just from notes I took while watching the episodes again.
! 20 Boyz Crazy Every list needs a bottom, and Boyz Crazy is mine. it's funny because my avatar comes from this episode too. There's laughs here and there, but ultimately neither Mabel nor Dipper's plot appealed to me that much. And it bothers me that Dipper and Stan bonding was the last major interaction between the two before the episode Dreamscaperers. I realize episodes tend to be stand alone in nature, but it was kinda jarring to me. Also think the show has done better parody songs. But there's something in every episode that I can find entertaining, and this is no exception. Like how Wendy got mad at Dipper after he was being insensitive. That's a nice touch.
! 19 Irrational Treasure An episode that I realize is solely just a personal preference episode, but Trembley never appealed to me as a character that much, and Mabel being comfortable with her unique self is a great lesson, but I dunno her silliness sometimes feels too silly IMO, and this episode is definitely on the sillier side of Mabel and less on the charming side. It's probably also because while the police are good characters they're not my favorite either and they're also a major part of the focus, and Stan has better subplots, though his hatred of the day itself was pretty funny. But hey, revenge is underrated and awesome! And I'm still hoping that key Dipper has comes back into play…somehow. Hoping for more Pacifica next season as well. Her distant ancestor was a wizard according to that document.
! 18 Bottomless Pit! Stan killed it in this one. His story was perfect, and that quote in Mabel's story was great. But Dipper and Soos story wasn't really doing anything for me. Mabel's was cute but I have some issues with the whole lying as the moral lesson at the end, as well as the fact that lying apparently means say whatever's on your mind.
17 Legend of the Gobblewonker A solid episode, but just doesn't really stand out when compared to the others. It's a nice pre-inrto to the zany characters of Gravity Falls and McGucket, but I still feel like this episode was the show still trying to find its legs. Still there's a lot of laughs. That cold opening with the kids working on the counterfeiting operation was golden and really was the bit that made me think the show can have really edgy humor. After growing to appreciate Stan I've realized his scenes here are pretty hilarious. The cameras bit was pretty good but it kept losing me and pulling me back in with its use.
! 16 The Deep End Another solid episode, but ultimately has plots that don't stick with me. I think the Wendy/Dipper interaction here is probably one of the better ones once his crush on her became prevalent in the series because the two just goofed around, and who doesn't love a Sandlot reference? Mabel's cute, and Mermando's alright, but ultimately both he and Mr. Poolcheck are one off characters that don't steal the show. Two gags though really stick out. The first is the Floaty Duck Revolution, a because it's just Dipper and Wendy messing around with Soos, and then Soos taking it to his extreme manchild self. The other was the Solitary kid. One of the best credits scenes in the show with great dark humor.
! 15 Tourist Trapped It's the pilot. Obviously if I hated this episode I wouldn't have continued, but it did its role and kept me interested in the show, but ultimately I just thought there were better episodes out there. It gives a good intro to the Pines family and gives a hint at what kind of characters Wendy and Soos really are. The plot twist with the gnomes and how they're defeated just shows the show has a good understanding of story structure and bringing things back from previous acts too.
! 14 Fight Fighters I really enjoyed Rumble, but I'm not a big gamer, so ultimately all the fun nods to video games wasn't enough to overtake its flaws. I didn't really like the way it showed Dipper just accepting getting beaten up in the end. Feel like that's not the right message for kids. Then the whole "do what girls do" thing seemed bothersome somewhat for its stereotypical message. The biggest thing though that bothered me was that the cliffhanger with Mabel being scared when on top of the water tower at the end never went anywhere. Like with Boyz Crazy, I think a show that's pretty good with continuity should be held accountable for just dropping plot points like that. but like I said, Rumble's a lot of fun, and this episode is special in that this was the one that made me really like Soos as a character. Thought he was great in this. And speaking of Boyz Crazy, I think the use of Cray-Cray only works on the tv show and not when the other characters use it. On the other hand, there's a joke about having 10 guns to shoot anybody that might bring in a ladder which is pretty funny.
! 13 Headhunters Kinda like the first two episodes, it's a solid episode, but I ranked this higher because it gives the story a chance to explore the zany townsfolk of Gravity Falls in more depth. And while I have the only other episode with the Mystery Twins reference even lower, I actually do love the concept and wished the show did more episodes with the Mystery Twins. The wax figures were fun, but there's better supernatural elements in the show. Episode has Ducktective though which is awesome because it's the beginning of the random tv shows in the series. Fun fact. It's also the first of two episodes that show Hirsch's dislike of Minors (IMO). That bar scene was also great thinking back on it.
! 12 Little Dipper I actually had this much higher originally, then much lower, and ultimately it settled here. It's weird, as a concept I grown to dislike the idea of Dipper just exploiting the book/supernatural for his own purposes. The sweepstakes bit wasn't that funny (though I loved when Stan tried to run away). But I just think the sibling bonding hit its mark. I like how they bring back that chess game that Mabel and Dipper have at the beginning as the reason for Mabel teasing him. There's a lot of little moments here too that I liked. I liked seeing Gideon's mom here. Gideon's hamster was something I really liked though it was a cute scene. Mabel questioning Dipper while completely ignoring the giant pawn piece in the background and then bringing up an invisible wizard. The perspective or tiny mountain lion was pretty funny to me too.
! 11 Summerween I really like the Summerween Trickster. And honestly, that's probably the only reason why this is so high. Just the way he moved and talked, to his reveal which after disliking for a bit came back around to me loving it again (candy corn tears, great). The episode suffers from Dipper pining over Wendy plotline fatigue and the Dipper/Mabel bonding wasn't as strong here as other episodes (that said, twins in costume. Gotta have to assume all of that comes from personal experience). I also thought Stan trying to scare some kids wasn't that great either. But Candy/Grenda appeared again. Gourney was twamatized. The cold opening still leaves me in stitches with the disgruntled coworker and the Pines family and Soos just causing havoc. And of course, the true message of Summerween, celebrating pure evil.
! 10 The Hand That Rocks The Mabel I think this is an episode I've grown to appreciate over time. I never watched twin peaks so any references in that regards are lost on me. But this is Gideon's debut, and this is definitely him at his creepiest. His powers of persuasion and his demeanor in this episode just had some dark implications, and I think cutting off Dipper's tongue is one of the more gruesome things the show ever implied. There's other bits too that I liked, including Stan stealing the clown painting (and body's change line). The Dipper and Mabel interactions were great here too, especially the sweater town bit. Finally, the rare Wendy/Mabel bonding moment even if it's just both characters thinking about their own world (I also just like how Mabel rides her bike while Wendy's still thinking about her stuff).
! 9 Dipper vs. Manliness This is as high as it is because I found the episode really funny. The story here on either end isn't the strongest the show's capable of, but there's a lot of small jokes throughout that keep me laughing. Disco Girl, the montage, the power of Mabel. The elder minotaur being eaten. One subtle joke I loved was Dipper's breakdown over hearing the lady looking for the mailman and thinking he's not a male man (love puns). The minotaurs and the multibear also had great designs too.
! 8 Boss Mabel This was probably the best episode to show when coming back from an extended hiatus. It's like a season premiere, just showcasing the five people in the opening and showing off what the Mystery Shack is and what it does. But this episode takes everything up a notch. The Gremloblin was a fun supernatural creature, and most if not all of its scenes were pretty hilarious. Dipper takes the rare backseat role and most if not all of his scenes were also golden. But Stan going on vacation and one of the best highlights in the episode is definitely up there in my favorite moments from him. Other than the fact that the episode itself wasn't too important in the grand scheme of things, I also think the ending played out in an almost cliche route, but cliche is fine as long as the content is still entertaining.
! 7 Gideon Rises The reason why I said ranks #17 to #7 is because I have a feeling this probably should be lower on the list. Have some issues with it. Like why would Mabel just leave Waddles at the Shack instead of taking him with her? Also kinda agree with Hiroy in that the way Gideon was shown to be a fraud was a bit too convenient. But there's plenty to love this episode too. It rounds off Gideon's arc as a villain in the season while setting up the final scene and potential future for the second season. The callbacks to the first episode were great as well as seeing the townsfolk again. Robbie was hilarious in his cameo here. Hirsch has mentioned that he's having fun writing Robbie so I'm hoping the idea still stays fresh and funny throughout season 2. But like many have said, I'm mostly curious if the finale means that the season 1 structure of episodes are gone and if "everything is different now". And it has a giant robot controlled by a human using motion sensors. Gotta love that.
! 6 Land Before Swine So the reason why this is number 6 is because I didn't love the Soos/Dipper subplot. I knew exactly how it'd play out, and by this point I started to think that Soos might be used too much to the point of irritation, which as of right now is just a potential worry instead of a current worry. But right from the joke about the tourist asking to use the restroom I knew the episode was going to be great. Mabel/Waddles were adorable all throughout the episode. The dance party was a highlight. The dinosaurs were fun along with the Jurassic Park references. McGucket getting eaten by the baby dinosaur was funny and him at the end of the episode was dark. And of course, Stan. His dream sequence, to him actually beating up the pterodactyl (which I just realized comes "back" in the next episode too when you learn he took boxing lessons), to his bonding with Mabel was just so sickenly cute (and the end credit scene where she admits she's been cheating. She's her great uncle's great niece alright). And this is the second time Hirsch gave minors the raw end. There's a recurring bit where minors have been disappearing in that area, and there's a LOT of skulls around the pterodactyl…
! 5 The Time Traveler's Pig I expected this to be lower because the time travel makes no sense. Time travel obviously never makes sense, but this one didn't even try to come up with a psuedo explanation for how it works. And that's not my only issue with it. The whole choice between Dipper not hitting Wendy or Mabel getting Waddles never played out satisfactory. I don't think the writers made a strong case for why one has to be sacrified, nor did it go into Dipper trying enough scenarios to come up with that conclusion. But I couldn't put it lower…Waddles is adorable. Finding out who Blendin Blandin was a fun treat, as well as learning about his cameos. There's a lot of tiny jokes/bits in here that just make the episode. I mentioned how I loved puns right? There's tons of double meanings in the words of the characters here, and a bunch of them I caught after repeat viewings. Most importantly though, this definitely had some of the strongest Dipper/Mabel moments in the show. I'm hoping the time traveling baby comes back someday. The Babe reference at the end though I felt was kinda mean to Robby. He's a prick, but ultimately think he didn't do anything in the episode to deserve the humiliation.
! 4 Dreamscaperers As I mentioned before in Boyz Crazy, the fact that Dipper/Stan bonded just two episodes before kinda makes him being disgruntled kinda offputting, but looking at the season as a whole it completely meshes well as a lesson. And yes, the tough love message was obvious from the get go, and watching Nostalgia Critic episodes have made me more attuned to the the wait 5 more seconds to hear what they really mean bit, but I loved the insight there is to Stan, both with Carla McCorkle and the boxing lessons. There's tons of callbacks to the first season during his flashbacks. It's a great penultimate episode. And did I mention Bill yet? Because Bill's insane and I really like the guy. I can't wait for his future appearances. And there's even greater callbacks to stuff from episode 2 with those 80s dudes and the hamster ball. I also think shooting kittens from your hands is the coolest attack ever. (I will say though given how the scenes were shot, I think Bill was the one that suggested the location of where the safe's location was, not Soos which kinda bothers me, but unlike other episodes it's a minor nitpick). Another minor nitpick is how the deed played out, but I think the police believing Gideon is satisfactory enough of an explanation, and I'm still giddy that Gideon would try making a contract with a demon before just blowing up a safe with dynamite.
! 3 Carpet Diem Maybe it's because I've read too many Hirsch interviews, but the thing that sticks out in this episode for me is that Hirsch tried to make the episode more about the theme of personal space instead of a "I wish I could be in your shoes" type episode. Ultimately, I still think a fair amount of tropes for body switching episodes were still used, but just like Little Dipper I think the bonding between Dipper and Mabel is so strong here it raises the grade. The mini golf scene at the beginning was cute, and I honestly thought the end scene where Dipper and Mabel say goodnight to each other forgetting the other wasn't there was heartfelt, along with the sleepover bit and the reveal that Dipper's hurt over Mabel hanging out with her friends. Just like little Dipper it's a tiny scene that's called back from act 1 which I really like. But there's so much more I enjoyed about this episode. It went over the annoyances of having a roommate, all of which I dug a lot. I realize how cliche it was, but Mabel learning about puberty and Dipper having to suffer through teen-romance novels was funny. The pig is Soos' body I surprisingly found pretty hilarious. Wendy and Stan's interactions were near priceless. And the episode just reconfirms in my mind that all women just wants pigs in their lives. The final bit was the glasses and experiment 78. The show does seem to have some idea as to where the mysteries are going, and those glasses I'm pretty sure are the glasses in Bil Cipher's circle. But even if they aren't, there's just that implication that the shack has been used as an experiment ground and I think if my theory holds up, that the groundwork laid in this episode is going to actually be a big deal for the series as a whole. But I could be wrong. And fun fact. I've read a lot of people online think Grenda was making out with the invisible wizard in the closet. cue scene of Dipper/Tyrone having their mind blown and speaking of which…
! 2 Double Dipper The printing/photocopier is another tool that implies supernatural experiments go on here (I guess it all depends on the reason why Stan stopped the Wax Museum exhibit that makes me question whether they should be counted as well). But if that Vending Machine didn't clue anybody in, that shack is full of mysteries. But ultimately I placed this so high because I don't really have a glaring problem with the episode. All the jokes hit, I was interested in all the storylines. The supernatural element twisted the clones tropes a bit to make it kid friendly. All in all a great episode. One scene that makes it stand out though was when Dipper and Wendy were bonding. It wasn't super important in defining the show's mythology or characters. It was just two people having a real conversation getting to know each other better. It's a nice subtle moment in the show. I guess I can list all the jokes that stand out, but there's a lot in the episode.
! 1 The Inconveniencing How boring. My #1 is the one everybody probably loves. But there's a reason for that. It's the only Wendy centric episode where she joins in the supernatural (though after hearing the podcast with Hirsch/Quintel I can understand why she's not utilized that much). That said, just like Double Dipper everything hits. The story structure, the jokes, the drama. If anything, the side plot with Grunkle Stan loving soaps is something that got funnier with repeat viewings. And all of this is offset by the fact that when the ghosts start terrorizing the kids, it's legitimately scary. I mean at first, it doesn't seem too bad, but then it gets worse to the point of being terrifying. Not much else to say. Mabel's perfect in the episode. That rap's hilarious. All in all just proof that this show can reach the stardard of great entertainment. -
Well with the season over, looks like the thread will probably be idle for awhile.
So I'll just leave this here.

New news. The creator's having/had a Q&A on Reddit about the show. Probably will be some interesting bits.

http://www.reddit.com/user/_alexhirschAlso, APPARENTLY Disney stores keep track every time customers ask for a new product. Alex Hirsch is asking people to go to Disney Stores and ask for Gravity Falls merch. I would like DVDs but if this really true, I guess next time you visit Disneyland or something ask for whatever merchandise you want.
Really bored. a fan made a picture from one of Hirsch's comments on reddit I wanna share. It's opretty awesome.

There is a DVD coming out (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EAHX876/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), it's going to contain the first 6 episodes.
I'd rather have a season set, but it's better than nothing. -
- Mulholland Drive cracks me up with its insane-ness. I doubt there will be a psychosexual lesbian lucid nightmare Gravity Falls episode though!

Now Alex Hirsch has said that season 2 of Gravity Falls probably won't be coming out until next year (if not over the summer than maybe in the fall), but there's a small bright spot. The Gravity Falls shorts will air next week I believe.
And the first short is free on itunes right now
https://itunes.apple.com/us/tv-season/disney-channel-monstober-vol./id712568885 -
I probably should just let sleeping dogs lie…but I wanted to post this here since Disney actually put this short on youtube.
The ending is deliciously morbid. I'm surprised/glad they got away with this. -
That was awesome and a bit disturbing…
-
Well this is something:
So apparently, a second series of shorts have come out but they're all in Russian somehow (with English subtitles though)
Weird.
-
they're all in Russian somehow (with English subtitles though)
I'm just curious as to whether the Russian Disney channel was supposed to air them this early or if they screwed up somehow.
Europe often gets things well before the United States does for whatever reason; there are episodes of Phineas and Ferb that aired in Germany and Russia three or four months ago that still haven't come out here yet.
Disney Channel isn't the only one to do that either; several SDMI episodes aired in New Zealand well before the US and, if I recall correctly, some Brave and the Bold episodes aired in South America almost a year before Cartoon Network got around to showing them. Same sort of deal with Nickelodeon and A:TLA.
-
Just started watching this show ( recommendations from friends) And what can I say it is awesome!!
Can't wait for season 2 it's going to be awesome. -
So a new set of shorts are appearing Feb 3-7. And it's Mabel's time to Shine!
Here's descriptions for the shorts below.
! Monday, February 3 “Mabel’s Guide to Dating” - Mabel gives her thoughts on dating and puts her dating quiz to the test with three of Gravity Falls’ most eligible bachelors – Grunkle Stan, Dipper and Soos.
! Tuesday, February 4 “Mabel’s Guide to Stickers” - Mabel gives her unique perspective on the history of stickers, their many styles and uses.
! Wednesday, February 5 “Mabel’s Guide to Fashion” - Mabel reveals her fashion secrets to the world, including FLASH MAKEOVERS!
! Thursday, February 6 “Mabel’s Guide to Colors” – Mabel’s survey into everyone’s favorite colors causes a color emergency when she learns Grunkle Stan has never seen a rainbow.
! Friday, February 7 “Mabel’s Guide to Art” – Mabel reveals that her gift of art has driven her to genius level with the creation of her own personal art movement – the “Caticature.” -
Wait, so what about those Public Access Television shorts :O
-
There's probably a third set of shorts made.
Still hoping there'll be one or two episodes with the supernatural though.
-
Here's a clip to
also, this isn't an update or anything, but here's a great amv that I think y'all will like

Grunkle Stan with exactly what I feel about the wait for more Gravity Falls.
I'm pacified.
-
Yessss! I was wondering when we'd get season 2, and this is sooner than I expected.
-
I hope that promo art is for the Season 1 Full DVD set. I refuse to buy that silly 6 episode set.

I hope that promo art is for the Season 1 Full DVD set.
"Season 1 Full DVD set."
You don't know how Disney operates, do you?
-
I probably should just let sleeping dogs lie…but I wanted to post this here since Disney actually put this short on youtube.
The ending is deliciously morbid. I'm surprised/glad they got away with this.Did those condoms just kill themselves? On Disney Channel?
-
I just started watching and I'm halfway through Season 1 and I gotta say, Fight Fighters (Episode 10) is my favourite at the moment! All those jokes just had me laughing, I loved Rumble McThingy XD
-
"Season 1 Full DVD set."
You don't know how Disney operates, do you?
Dinosaurs, Hannah Montana, The Muppet Show, Gargoyles got full season sets. Some shows got volumes sets that hold 20+ episodes like Darkwing Duck, Duck Tales, Gummi Bears, and Tales Spin. Though hilariously the first Disney series to get a full series release on home video was the Weekenders, last year; in 2 volumes of 20/19 episodes.
I mean if they do the Pheneas and Ferb route where they just do themed sets of an handful of episodes then probably not. But so far it looks like they're releasing them in order just small sets, which means eventually they'll release it as a whole set.
-
Phineas and Ferb is still their most popular animated show for the K2-11 bracket and is a merchandising behemoth and still doesn't have any season sets after four seasons and seven years of being on television. Disney has also been pretty consistent in releasing partial sets and has an appalling tendency towards releasing substandard sets (no bonus content at all) in extremely limited numbers at inflated prices.
The Weekenders might well have the entire series out but it only had thirty nine episodes as a complete series and would run you sixty bucks for those.
-
Don't knock the Weekenders. It dethroned Pokemon after all
I really do have a soft spot for the series though.
On topic. The unfortunate thing is that the 6 episode sets probably have to sell well before full season DVDs are considered. Think iTunes purchases are also taken into consideration?
-
So apparently Disney XD is showing Gravity Falls now (though Hirsch said the regular Disney channel will still be showing Gravity Falls) and this week they're showing the Fixin it with Soos shorts and the TV shorts in English.
The Fixin it with Soos shorts are in the spoiler tag. The tv shorts will probably be up later this week.

Disney Channel promo confirms new Gravity Falls episodes for July. Since the promo showed clips of Gravity Falls while discussing a July Fourth Extravaganza or something, I'm going to assume July 4th will be the premiere date.Woooooow, no. My source linked me a video from last year. Faiiiiiiilll.
However, since this probably got WAY too many hopes up, they are holding a premiere party on July 2nd, which heavily suggests a July premiere date regardless. (Girl Meets World is getting a premiere party tomorrow, but it actually premieres sixteen days later on the 27th.)
Sorry, everyone. I got way too excited.

Alex Hirsch's girlfriend on twitter just revealed that season 2 premieres August 1st. Guessing it was revealed at the LA Film Fest Panel today.
So season 2 came out less than a year later! (Pretty close to the wire. The season 1 finale premiered August 2nd)
Time to get psyched
-
And sorry for the double post but LA Film Fest posted their Gravity Falls panel on youtube.
-
Alright, perfect time to catch up!
Edit: Caught up, just perfect.

Gravity Falls comes back this Friday!
Someone posted up a cam video of the trailer shown at Comic Con. I'm still hoping that a high quality video of the entire panel comes out and soon, but until then…

And here's a link to the Gravity Falls poster picture from Comic Con.
Having trouble posting pics at the moment. Will fix when I get a chance unless someone posts it here before mePoster image is in the spoiler tags

Season 2 trailer. I'm pumped!!
-
I feel bad for having like every other post here recently, but I'm a big fan of the show and keep finding new things. Excited for the premiere tomorrow!
Alex Hirsch did an interview with the AV Club that gives a retrospective on season 1 as a whole with underlying hints as to what to expect from season 2. It's an interesting read IMO.

Can't wait for it to air!! Too bad I don't have Disney XD, or cable TV to begin with, does anyone know how long it takes to get uploaded on a site?

Season 2 trailer. I'm pumped!!
On the 0:25 mark, is that the possible Grunkle Stan's brother? I read the theory and now I'm paranoid because of the spot on his chin that seems to be hiding something.
-
I'm crying right now at how much I loved the premiere. That was great.
One thing I want to say is that at Comic Con, the Gravity Falls team gave away postcards and pens. Supposedly, the pens used invisible ink, and a few of the postcards had invisible ink that hid secrets about season 2. Just thought that was worth mentioning. Hirsch and the team really care about the series.
And the next two episodes sound great too.
! There's a lot ofclips of episode 2 online, and I'll just say I think it finally puts to rest the whole Dipper/Wendy subplot in a very effective manner.
! The third episode has Pacifica and mini golf, so I expect that to be gold too.GREAT premiere!!!
-
I missed the beginning of the episode but the rest of it was great all around. Here's hoping Powers becomes a recurring character. Gravity Falls could use a little more Ron Swanson in its ensemble.
-
If I'm not mistaken, that was Nick Offerman playing the CIA agent.
Nice

Oh man, great start to the season.
! I love what they've set up here. I'm glad that Grunkle Stan's Machine was left boiling in the background. It would have been a shame to see one of the biggest mysteries of the journal revealed so soon and it builds anticipation. The whole invisible ink thing is actually a pretty nice plot point, too. It's simple, but along with exposing new mysteries, it adds new depth to old ones. The government agents are also another element to play with. I wonder just how they'll fit in, considering the government involvement in the Trembly episode.
! And of course the characters and humor are on point as always. I'm interested in seeing how the kids' relationship with Stan will change now that they're more on the same page with the supernatural.
! The more I see of this show, the more excited I get to see more of it. -
Episode 2 is on the internet as well, and I personally enjoyed it a lot more.
SPOILERS OF COURSE
! I feel like this was a huge sendup to Lost and Chuck, what with the bunker/hatch and the super secret computer.
! But I love how they wrapped up the Dipper+Wendy stuff in a really satisfying way. My heart broke for Dipper, but I smiled and cried because DUDE THIS KID IS ME and that's what I love about this show. I was kinda half hoping they'd do something more surprising with DipperxWendy, but we all know it was doomed from the start, so I kind of really like the resolution. Now we can move on to bigger and better things with these two. :) -

I read that theory too and it's quite convincing.
That could be an artist error or is it.This show is full of conspiracy. It's hard to believe whatever I see. lol
Love both episode 1 and 2. I enjoy the callback to season 1. It's a lot more spookier than season 1.
HUGE SPOILERS! Episode 1
! * We start off season 2 with a zombie invasion. And it was resolved with the power of music.- I feel like the songs on the karaoke machine are a play on actual songs. But I don't know any of them.
- Invisible ink was definitely a good plot twist.
- Grunkle Stan is wearing a glove for six fingers.:ninja:
- I enjoy the callback to the first episode of season 1 with the undead part.
- It's a great start with Grunkle stan finally acknowledging the existent of the weirdness going on in Gravity fall. Both Dipper and him are so much alike.
! Episode 2
! * I like the way the episode handle Dipper and Wendy relationship. In season 1, I was never much of a fan of the whole "Dipper has to chose between Mabel and Wendy but it all work out in the end". I'm glad there would be no more of this. As Wendy said, them dating would never work out since she's much older than him. I do feel sorry for Dipper since he also know that himself but he's hoping that it will work out. Maybe in a couple of years, their relationship might work out.- Favourite line: "You're sitting on my bra". XD
- Wendy is awesome this episode.
- Potential crush rebound. Mabel, please don't tell me you're going to suggest…:ninja: Pacifica
- The whole underground bunker and crushing wall sequence was fun.
- The random movie tittle was hilarious.XD
- I do agree it's much enjoyable than the first episode.
-
Here's my official review of the first episode (and the debut of my new blog!), so enjoy.
