Chopper did a move against Kumadori that gave everything he had with all his heart and was just barely able to damage Kumadori. Luffy I think was playing around a little with Blueno. But don't take the cp9 lightly,Just because Blueno is fighting someone as powerful as Luffy, doesn't mean hes gonna lay down and get deafeated, Blueno was trying his absloute hardest to keep up Luffy until Gear 2. As for Franky, hes powerful, but he would get his ass handed to him in serious fight with Luffy. I think the fight power levels(If you will) have been accurate so far. Even back at Icebarg's mansion there were alot of conditions that made it difficult for Luffy and Co. to fight at their fullest.

Barely damage Kumadori? He left like 12 hooves imprints in his chest. AND it was Tekkai gou, the strongest tekkai. As for Chopper strength, he's probably at least equal or more to Sanji w/ a Rumble ball, though I admit Chopper could never beat Sanji in 3 minutes.
Also, for Luffy vs. any of the SHs is a matter of motivation–Luffy can't fight anyone he doesn't hate. And he probably won't after this arc. Sanji kicks Luffy's ass all the time, yet Luffy is supposed to have that "blunt object" semi-immunity.
-
The imprint disappeared after a while, then he just got up and pwned Chopper bad. The only actual damage done was a lost tooth and some bleeding from the mouth.
-

I believe he was also dazed a minute or so. And imprints always freaking hurt.
Of course, the whole fight is tainted since Chopper had problems with his rumble balls.
Also, on the suggest of tekkai, I think sanji broke tekkai even before his fire kick. That kick of the face bent Jyabura's snout, even with his tekkai tempo.
-
Sanji also fights more precisely rather than just hitting any part of his opponents body, thus he is more suited to fight Luffy and actually do some damage regardless of his immunity (ie when he calls out the parts of the bodies his kicks connect with, they each serve a purpose).
However Sanji would never seriously hurt Luffy other than disciplinary purposes (food related/bad leadership decisions). As for Chopper, he killed Kumadori as I understood it and Kumadori used his life return ability to remain immortal.. meaning Choppers strike is stronger, or at least achieved through less effort than Sanji, however its effect cant last more than 3 minutes and it also takes concentration (switching between defensive and offensive forms rather than being naturally faster/defensive enough to avoid/block hits).
Because 1 move is stronger than another characters, doesn't make that character stronger, it's like saying Frankys air attack is comparable to Gear 2 and beyond thus he's stronger than Zoro's 108 pound cannon, and stronger than Zoro (which I personally don't believe). -
I wil say Sanji and Chopper power wise is about equal but Sanji has more confidence, speed, and knowlegde when it comes to using his power. When I said barely i mean't he damaged him, but it seemed like it just barely got through his Tekkai. But it really only made Kumadori madder. I would like to see Chopper train or control his forms better in the future. I think Chopper has the potential to become an overwhelming powerhouse on the crew even without his monster form.

That sounds out there, but come to think of it, it sounds like life return could be used to prevent him from falling unconscious.
Kind of like that doctor from "Yuyu Hakusho."
-
Care to explain why? OK, maybe I could have worded it a little better. "Does this mean he's stronger than the guy he knocked out?" is really asking, if Franky did not have his steel hands/arms could you say he'd be strong enough to break tekkai? Other than that, I can't find any reason why the analogy wouldn't apply.
Just to make the analogy even more apt, let's make it so that the opponent is wearing armor to account for CP9's tekkai. And instead of a glove filled with metal bricks, let's have the boxer use a heavy steel gauntlet instead. A punch with the gauntlet will break/dent the armor far easier than a bare fisted punch would. So the point still stands. Franky's steel arms/hands give him an unfair advantage that Sanji and Chopper (who rely on the force of their own flesh and bones fists, or in Sanji's case, feet to hit an opponent) do not have. You can't judge whether Sanji's attacks are stronger than Chopper's based on the fact that Franky could easily break tekkai.
Franky's muscles and body are the steel. It's not like he turned himself into metal before the fight started to give himself an unfair advantage.
And like Kenechi said, if Franky was weak and made of steel, he wouldn'tve made a difference.
Chopper also uses perfomance enhacning drugs.
I'm not sure if Chopper should be gauged for strength using his fight with Kumadori, since Kumadori stomped him pretty hard. Chopper put up a good fight, but in the end wasn't much of a match for Kumadori.
-
Chopper and Sanji are nowhere near each other.
-
Holy crap, Luffy got over 12,000 votes!? Guess that shows how popular One Piece is.
And man, Oda is having the best streak with color spreads!

I guess you could say that… but it's not like the Rumble Balls are steroids or anything like that. It doesn't enhance his strength or power, it just helps him manipulate his transformation so that he can add dept to one aspect of his attributes (smartness, speed, jumping etc). I honestly dont see the rumble ball as something that is cheap and even if the Monster transformation does seem really cheap, it is only an unlocked stage of Chopper's devil fruit powers that was triggered by the Rumble Ball.
As far as Kumador's fight goes... Chopper started off at a disadvantage. If it wasn't for his second Rumble Ball that disrupted his control of his transformations, he could've easily defeated Kumadori (on account of the fact that one Roseo Michieri inflicted a reasonable amount of damage on Kumadori) It was just his inability to strategically use his transformation that lead to him to being pulverized in the beginning of the fight.

He would have been, had he been able to use his Rumble Ball more appropriately, but it ran out. Chopper said himself that if he could just get in one more good arm point, it would finish Kumadori off.

No he didn't…he just said that he was betting everything on that one attack. he hit Kumadori, then he collapsed. And when he collapsed, he was still in Arm Point. He couldn't counter attack, because Kumadori had beaten him up so bad, and he has no strength left to counter attack. And, Kumadori was still running about, because that attack Chopper did did very little damage.
(By the way, I'm not anti-chopper, but people seem to be making up excuses for his failure)
-
Well, it just seems unbalanced. But hey, Sanji got just as much flak after Califa trounced him. I guess it's bound to continue until Chopper redeems himself like Sanji is in this chapter.
ALTHOUGH, Chopper did provide Nami with the key to escaping Califa's soap powers AND he acted as a distraction while Nami freed Zoro and Sogeking… -

Very little damage? I like Kumadori, in fact he's my favorite CP9, but that attack messed him up. Disregarding the imprints, he was bleeding three lines down his mouth and one down his nose. Also, the fact that Kumdori stood still for two panels suggests that he paused from the pain.
In One Piece, fighters commonly fight while hurt, he didn't take "very little damage," he took a damn heavy amount of damage then kicked Chopper's ass in a fit a rage, then got trounced by Monster Chopper.
I blame Skypiea, that arc made Chopper look bad.
Also, that scene with the whistle doesn't mean anything, Chopper could say he's weak just to get the whistle, or because in "brain point" he really is weak. It's nothing serious.
-
Chopper's not weak, he just thinks he is because has no confidence in his own strength…....

Come on, a bit of bleeding from the mouth and one lost tooth isn't exactly much, is it? He just stopped moving while he was talking about the cherry blossoms, then he got up. That's not heavy damage…Also, he did say he wasn't going to hold back after Chopper hit him, but you can take that as you will.
Yeah, Skypiea didn't really show Choppers good side, I guess.
It was Nami that classed him as weak enough to blow the whistle, and even he said he was weak, she wouldn't believe him unless he was. And that brain point thing you said is really clasping at straws...I'm sure Nami would factor in DF powers, else Nico Robin wouldn't be in the strong group.
-

You honestly have got to be kidding me right? If you're going to judge everything like that, then you could say that Chopper WASN'T badly damaged at all, all he had was some bruises, and a bloody mouth. Oh yeah… great. The point is, Oda wanted to make that scene appear as if Kumadori was about to be defeated. That couldn't be done if the attack didnt inflict "heavy" damage. Did you even notice the influx of hoofprints made on his chest by the attack (btw they were in the shape of sakura petals)?
Also, Skypiea was pretty much the turning point for Chopper. If you remember, after defeating Gedatsu, Chopper announced that from that day on, he was a real "pirate" who would not be dependant on the others.
-
Chopper is first and foremost a doctor. Secondly, why does Chopper need to redeem himself? He hasn't transgressed against the crew at all. Besides, he is pretty much out of it right now because of his triple rumble ball trip. Besides, how did we get to be talking about Chopper in chapter when it was practically all about Sanji and Jyabara?
Chopper can do his part after all the bad guys are defeated by patching everyone up. That's why he is there in the first place. And while we're on the subject, Kumadori had the ability to heal rapidly, so it wasn't that Chopper wasn't damaging him, it's just that he was healing to fast for the damage to be sustained.
-
Chopper's not weak, he just thinks he is because has no confidence in his own strength…....
couldn't say it better myself, how can a man (actually a racoon) that rips and throws merry's mast into the sea (in skypie after it got burnt by the priest) be weak?
-
wow, lotsa chopper argument for a chapter he wasn't in, huh? oO;

I don't recall Nami ever seeing Chopper fight at the point. Her mindset is that Sanji and the others are pretty much invincible, yes, and Chopper hasn't shown her the same acts that other SHs have.
-
Lol @ Kenechi
This is again one of those one-sided arguments when single entity who somehow cannot understand something strongly believes in certain obviously wrong thing. Give it up.
-
And remember people, Chopper has far less experience, and virtually no combat trainging, as compared to Luffy, Sanji, Zoro, and even Franky, who spent a lot of timing brawling against Galley-La foremen. This is the major flaw with Chopper in combat, he doesn't know how to fight. Sanji 'lost' to Calipha because of his morals. Chopper lost because of severe inexperience and lack of confidence. But as Sanji's morals don't make him any less dangerous, same with Chopper.
And his Arm Point broke tekkai gou, the strongest form of tekkai. Blueno's tekkai gou almost stood up to Luffy's jet bazooka. Sanji has to yet break tekkai gou. Give Chopper some credit ^^.

Chopper is damn strong, no doubt, but please - just no.
Jet Bazooka blew right through Tekkai Gou like it wasn't even there. Blueno was just tough enough that it took a few seconds for him to go down afterwards.
Monster Chopper on the other hand is probably as strong as Gear 3 Luffy appears to be. And thats when he's untrained.

what? in yer dreams dude.
there's no way monster is as strong as gear 3 luffy.
luffy oculd take monster chopper down without gear.
moster chopper is big and strong, but no way is he that strong.

I can't see any one currently on eneis lobby taking down that beast.
-
Yea, just look at what he did to Kumadori, and how he did it.
Kumadori put up a Tekkai, and Monster Chopper just sat on him and punched him. No special conditions or anything. Just a normal punch - and Kumadori might as well have been blowing bubbles out his ass for all the differance it made.
Now imagine what he could do in Monster form if he had full control of his faculties, and was putting in some fucking EFFORT.
-
@Octogon:
I can't see any one currently on eneis lobby taking down that beast.
i don't see how you can think that.
im NOT TRYING TO START A argument thing, but, i mean, c'mon.
monster chopper, he's pwncakes, the main monster man.
but when it all comes down to it, he's just a big guy who's really strong.
zoro and sanji had to deal with that before, and i have no doubt that luffy could do it as is.
but then luffy has the gears now. he beat blueno like he was a toddler…..or soemthing like that.
and yer saying luffy, with gear 3, cant beat monster chopper? no way!
now, chopper went nuts, and he got crazy strong, but i stil ldon't think he can beat luffy. ESPECIALLY WITH gears. -
I never said Monster Chopper was the best, only that he was as physically strong as Luffy appears to be in Gear 3.
Nothing else.
Just pure physical strength.
I agree half the crew could take him down as he is now because all he is is a mindless beast with a whole hell of a lot of brawn. Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro could definately take him down.
Possibly Nami and Usopp could as well.
Hell Gear 1 Luffy could probably beat him down.
-

i don't think we can say that either, tho. cuz we dunno…..i just don't think so. XD
that's not a really good reason, but i just try to picture a strenght compettion between the two, and luffy just wins. XD

Personally, I don't think that Chopper can beat Luffy, but that monster form is something else. I imagine that 'Monster Chopper vs. Luffy' regardless of gears could be the next 'Usopp vs. Luffy. '
But, we can't really tell based on what we've seen. Both Gear 2 Luffy and Monster Chopper tore apart and beat down to similar CP9 agents easily.
-
Well, thats the thing, we can't judge at the moment.
We have yet to actually SEE Gear 3 Luffy, and while we've seen an act of strength that both have performed, they're so differant that they're incomparable at the end of the day.
It just appears that they're at least closely matched in terms of pure physical strength to my mind. And to me, it would also make sense that they would be due to reasons already stated here, like Zoans being bigger/stronger generally, and getting more so in set forms by training and such.
EDIT:
@onemoment:But, we can't really tell based on what we've seen. Both gear 2 Luffy and Monster Chopper tore apart and beat down two similar CP9 agents easily.
But this is what I mean. Take a look at just how each of them did it respectively.
Luffy, even in Gear 2 (though we can't judge his Gear 3 on this obviously) used a lot of technique, and special moves to take down Blueno quickly.
Monster Chopper just sat on Kumadori and punched him. No special moves, no real apparent effort behind them. Just a simple, lazy punch. And Kumadori was out like a light.

i agree with you 99%
we dunno whut gear 3 does, but we've seen whut it did. as…wierd as that sounds.
we saw that it completely annihalates in the blink of an eye. i think.
but i REALLY agree with the fight, usopp luffy comparison, but i still think luffy would win landslidish.

Well…Luffy shrinking after suggests that Gear 3 some drawbacks. I don't even think it's an upgrade to Gear 2 but some sort of attack...but that's just me.
And yes, Luffy would probably win, but not by a landslide. I think Luffy would get some hard punches before the fight ends. He'd a least have a mouth bleed and dirt on him, Monster Chopper isn't slow after all.
-
yes. true. maybe not a landslide, i was prolly exagerating, but it's not like luffy would be on the ground coughing up organs.
-

Well of course.
Its Shonen after all. The main character is always the best, and will in the end, always win. Chopper would give him a good run for his money though in a fully cognisant Monster Point.
Maybe nearly as much of a run as Zoro or Sanji would.

…..ANYWAY! we're talking about this is the completely wrong thread, and i just noticed this after talking about it for a page and then some. ^_^;
-
awesome chapter. I can tell Zoro vs Kaku will be epic.
I have this theory that after Kaku is fired by Zoro, he'll fly through enies lobby to go help Pauly and the others against the buster call and when he gets there he takes a bullet for them or something. That'll make him go down in OP history like Pell and all the other people who did similar stuff (even though nobody ever dies). Ok I'll shut up.

now, chopper went nuts, and he got crazy strong, but i stil ldon't think he can beat luffy. ESPECIALLY WITH gears.Alright. I think it's apparent that, yes Monster Chopper is amazingly powerful, but at the same time, you'll notice how he's mindless, making it impossible for him to precieve an enemy strategy. The hair-guy(shut up, I'm bad with names) was freaking out because he's a coward, but Luffy woul see the hat and know it was chopper. Plus, when was the last time Luffy was scared to the point of affecting his fighting?(save that one time)
Luffy's calm head would give him an advantage.
Another thing: Monster Chopper seems mindless, like I said, meaning he's gonna attack randomly, like a beast, but not smartly. His poorly thought out attack patterns would be no problem for someone of Luffy's calibur to dodge or counter with his own attack.
A disadvantage for Chopper.
Chopper is amazingly powerful on the other hand. Meaning that if Luffy messed up EVEN ONCE, he'd probably be down and out. And granted, Chopper could probably take anywhere from 1 to 3 gears (1), and probably 2 gear (2)'s.
Chopper's power and defense are two advantages for him.
But the clincher is that Luffy has gear 3, which we all know, compresses his body so that his hits are more dense, and thusly harder, striking with more power and causing more damage. Chopper would be easily taken down by a well timed Gear 3. Granted, it would have to be at a convienient time, so Luffy would have to toy with Chopper, dodging his attacks until he saw a good opening.
Another advantage for Luffy
Judging by all this, Luffy could take down Monster Chopper, but it would be hard for him. Unless of course he wwanted to kill him, then it's just a bazooka/storm hitting him right into the water ^^'
There you have it!

Well, if we can get back on topic, then Sanji's fight was interesting. One thing I noticed was that he really didn't seem to struggle with breaking tekkai. His kicks kinda hurt Jyabura in the begining of the chapter, but after that heat leg he obliterated tekkai completely.
Just like Franky, Luffy, and Chopper so far.
-
I feel kinda responsible for the last page's deviation. Don't ever quote me damnnit >
Anyhoo, what about that Sanji kick eh? Quite a scrocher huh? haHA! Yeah, about tekkai breaking, does anyone feel that Sanji should have been able to break tekkai with his own strength? The fire is cool, but unless Sanji lights his customary end fight cigerette with it, I don't know if that's what I'd want.Oh, and I've been meaning to say this, but kept forgetting. Oda should color it like a racing car decal. THAT would be the final cherry on the sundae.

It's possible that after tekkai is broken once, it remains broken until the person using it can re-establish it on him/herself. Also could be that when they are in their devil fruit forms they can't re-establish the tekkai once it's broken until they become human again.

That last part is good speculation. Unless I am mistaken, when Leopard-Lucci first showed up, he established Tekkai while in animal mode.Though it was never broken after that, we don't know whether or not he would be able to re-establish it while in animal mode, so you may have a point. We'll just have to wait and see.
