I think part of my problem with the Shulk Little Mac overlay is that if you accept the face as being photoshopped, that wouldn't explain the rest of the render which is completely different. If someone made their own render, they wouldn't be using photoshop they'd be making it from scratch
Super Smash Bros

-
Oh man, i hope the dog is not just Little Mac with a lot of hair :(
-
Not to mention that those renders were almost certainly resized for the comparison, which means that you can't really take it at face value since the gy resizing might have changed the proportions at least a bit
-

Just saying, but if you're making a fake render to try to fool people on the internets, you aren't getting paid and really honestly have all the reason in the world to try to cut your workload down.
Lets say leaker person actually modeled and rendered any of this and didn't just hobble together stuff they cut and shopped out of other photos. If Leaker saw that Little Mac's face would work for the fake Shulk, it'd save them a lot of time to just stop modeling Shulk when you get to his face and leave it blank like The Question and then use photoshop to overlay Mac's face.

When making a render of something, it can be useful to have some model to base off to get the rough idea
kinda like this, except this one is just flat out ripping it off

Seen this too, and what a shock: Dr Mario has the same features as Mario
Even funnier because the jawline in that comparison is very distinctly different
-
I don't know why Dr. Mario wouldn't just be a skin.
-
So you're NOT surprised that the Smash select screen image of Dr. Mario is the exact same render as a pre-existing Mario? Geez this is just getting funny now XD.

Stop teasing us Sakurai.

It really isn't that distinctly different that jawline, but pretty much everything is something that is reproduced from that model
And the thing is not the fact that he has the same features as Mario but that he has the same model and pose in the render. It's not even the gameplay but the character selection face and everything
-
Look, I don't really 100% believe the leak, but I do feel that a lot of this "evidence" is pretty meaningless. Especially since the exact same stuff was done to prove that pignite was photoshopped from Lickitung's evolution back when Black and White were coming out
-
Dude you can't keep pointing out that people have been wrong in the past as a reason for evidence being meaningless.
-
So that picture has been… Doctored?

A lot of pictures of Mario look super similar and are in a similar pose. And it isn't any more impossible that the Smash Team based one render on another as a time saving thing than it is a faker did. Not like Nintendo, or even smash, have never reused assets before

It isn't so much meaningless so much as it is not at all conclusive
-

And the exact same pose. And the exact same expression. With his eyes looking in the exact same direction. And the exact same dimensions on his mustache eyebrows, nose, eyes and hair. All shot from the exact same angle.
But yeah, the guy slightly modified his jawline when he modified the render. So, Dr. Mario confirmed.

Expression isn't the same though. Nor are his eyes looking in the exact same direction either. And honestly, a lot of shots of Mario come from that angle anyways

Nothing nearly as identical in pose and facial expression as you'd possibly imagine. Sure, some models are fairly similar, but especially when differentiating characters like Mario and Dr. Mario like they did in melee, they have to give them some distinctive features. Dr. Mario for example in melee is given a pose with his stethescope
-
Hair is also different. None of the differences are that major, but that could easily be explained by the fact that it's the same goddamn character
-
I don't really see the evidence as astronomical. A lot of it is really, really subjective IMO. Also, I think back to the initial Greninja and Hawlucha leaks in XY that everybody called fakes
Astronomical meaning related to astronomy.
It was part of this whole big joke…
That I was trying to make...
-
Same goddamn character

Well it's a good thing this pose is completely different from the other smash 4 Mario render than

Did somebody already mention that the ESRB does not play the games they rate?
If yes, carry on.

Yeah but the conspiracy theorists in here are arguing that the name was added to throw Nintendo off the scent of the leaker.

That or it might've been footage being sent to the ESRB
-
I was even playing around with the Shulk edit and got decent results in about 20 minutes. All you need to do is change the color/lighting, shrink and blur the nose/mouth edges, lighten the end of the eyebrows, add/remove appropriate face shadows, add hair and then apply grain and blur for the camera effect.

It's video game conspiracies day! Quick, before the day ends, lets figure out a way this also confirms Half Life 3.

For reference that not all Mario images are created equal, you really can just google image search

Hell I even found this fan-made render of Dr. Mario presumably based off the official Mario render previously posted

"Sakurai-san, we've detected a leak on the internet of Smash Brothers."
"What?! Who is it? ESRB0038... wait but we didn't even send the ESRB a copy... doesn't the internet know that the ESRB doesn't even play the games they rate? We're dealing with someone incredibly shrewd trying to throw us off their trail"
Sakurai lounges back in his armchair while holding his glass of cognac wondering who could possibly have leaked that and decides against releasing Mewtwo and Ridley as DLC characters
-
Look guys the last twenty times someone said the world was ending and then it didn't means that this time THE WORLD REALLY IS ENDING

I mean, really, could the leaks be real and the evidence be pointing us in the wrong direction? Sure, it could. But at this point there isn't enough proof to me (and it seems most of the rest of us) that it's anywhere close to convincing that it's real. If it's real, then great, I'll accept that we were wrong, but as it stands there isn't enough evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that it holds up

I would say that the renders of the characters shown off in the images are all REALLY good looking. Whoever did the "Leaker 1" and "Leaker 2" images did a really good job on them. I think that's the thing that's making the defenders jump on this and declare it definitively real.

Yeah, they're definitely pretty decent models, at least from a glance from the shaky image capture that these leaks usually consist of (no video? really?)
Then again, this looked pretty convincing, too
-
I'm still trying to figure out what someone gains by wasting their time making fake roster images. I mean, even if everything is airtight, it'll still be disproved when the game comes out. What's the point?
-
-
They could just enjoy rendering Nintendo characters so why not.
-
They could get off watching people like us have discussions like this.
-
-
Because people don't have anything better to do than rattle a few cages I guess
Because we've already had stuff like

or
[hide][/hide]
or this infamous one that people seem to have forgotten when Palutena was revealed

What I've learned from google image searching leaks is that apparently fake leakers lack the motor skills and precision to take straight-on images

I own a Hellsing webiste. At one point, Hellsing was still coming out so it had an active fanbase.
Our April Fools joke one year was that we did the entire website up like we'd become a Twilight website, but this was a smokescreen for the REAL Gag. I made fake promotional materials advertising that Madhouse was animating "Hellsing The Movie" Which would tell the story of "Hellsing: The Dawn" except completed with the actual completed plot provided by the Manga Author.
We spent an entire week making the fake website layout as well as the fake magazine scans. Then we posted it on 2ch first and I grabbed the one or two Japanese speakers who posted at the forum and basically told them to play along because I knew the second people who actually were in Japan and had access to the magazines started replying on 2ch that it was fake, the jig would be up.
It worked, we fooled the hell out of people, and a good laugh was had by all.
The moral of the story is: Screwing with people is sometimes reason enough.

I'll take "They Could get off watching people like us have discussions like this" for a $100 Alex.

I'm always astounded to see so many people believing every leak, being the most distrustful guy around :I

I saw 6 new pages and thought I missed something huge.
Never again.

Plus, leaker 3's Shulk model is just awful.

That's the 2nd time you've used that video on me. I ain't even mad. Bravo.
-
I knew I had used it before, but forgot that it was in reply to another one of your posts. :D

My issue with the roster:
Most of all, the lack of the Ice Climbers.
The dog kinds of bothers me, just not enough activity, this is were people say "Captain Falcon", who has legs, arms and a fighting attitude, the dog just.. search for dead fowl and laughs at you. He seems too goofy for the moveset that a fighting dog would have. Leaping, biting, swiping, those kind of stuff.
Shulk looks ugly and Unshulky.
ROB and Ganondorf look ugly.
And Bowser Jr… Don't like him. No reason, just think that he's stupid.
The clones actualy don't bother me.
I'd miss Lucas, Squirtle and Ivysaur. Not Wolf.
I'd be sad for Ridley, Isaac and Mewtwo, no one else.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Pic of the day. "No, I'll just beat you within an inch of your life!" Demon Lord Ghirahim makes an appearance in Smash Bros!! He's an Assist Trophy, so he could conceivably back up Link, too.
-
Ghirahim looks kinda odd. Dat tounge tho.
-
Now there's a classic moment of a highly speculated character getting the good old deconfirm.
Week got interesting.
-
If it wasn't for the Tomodachi stage and the "black line", I would be on the doubters side for sure.
Anyway, kudos to the person who did "leak 1 and 2" if they're fake. It would be one of the first fake leak I've seen with no obvious mistake.
I'm already happy than we could be getting a close to 50-character roster when I remember making one that size when the game was announced and calling it unrealistic.
