@thewonderer:
Why are people like Darth even on this forum? All I've seen is massive hate from tons of people on the last 10 or so chapters. I've very much enjoyed most of the last few chapters, especially Franky's moments in the last one. Nothing has drastically changed in the One Piece format. Nothing new to weekly reading at least.
Oh, why are people who have strong opinions about a series they like posting those strong opinions on a fan forum, I cannot comprehend.
And discussions where people disagree with one another gain more momentum than those where people agree. This tends to happen when someone doesn't like some particular aspect.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
@Darth:
The way I see it: One big cluster fuck when it comes to Kaido and Big Mom. All of the original supernovas, plus new Marine HQ involved.
Result: Marines and Supernovas take down two Yonkou, but not each other. Kaido and Big Mom are immediatly publicly executed, to show that Sakazuki means business.
During that, Blackbeard takes down Shanks. Hard. Perhaps with Mihawk included, who has been hiding from the marines on his old friend/rival island after Fujitora succeded in his goal.
People new age focuses around: Luffy, Blackbeard, Sakazuki, perhaps Kid.
Or rather, that's my wishful thinking.
The weird ensuing debate is too weird, but I wanted to respond to the post that apparently triggered it.
This kind of story would be very messy … I'm not saying it's not plausible, but I do think it would be far too crowded to do it any justice. Sure, we're getting a lot of that with Dressrosa anyway, but the scope of what you suggest is even more ridiculous.
First of all - Luffy has some kind of personal involvement in taking down these two emperors. With Big Mum, he's already essentially declared war on her. Couple that with accidentally sending her a bomb, Jinbe to join his crew only after he severs ties with Big Mum and half the Strawhat crew clashing directly with one of her vessels and some of her trusted agents ... we've got a lot of build up for Luffy taking her down. Granted, we can expect the involvement of Law and probably Kid, Hawkins and Apoo, but the Strawhats are bound to be on centre stage.
With Kaido, we obviously have the whole Doflamingo affair. But more importantly, Kaido seems to be set up at the antagonist of the Wano arc, and with the Strawhats allying with Kinemon and co, I can't see Kaido's arc in Wano being crossed with taking down Big Mum. But again we're bound to get the involvement of some others - like Law and Drake.
So really, I think Luffy needs to be the one to take each of these down, and hence they have to be pretty separate events. Now that's just the takedown of the actual Emperors. That there could be people fighting them and their many allies in a more mixed-up order is not what I'm contesting at all. And I'm with you on seeing the Navy get involved in at least one of these - following on from what's been said about Akainu's more aggressive approach, we do need to see some of that in action. I'm not sure we will though ...
But I'm completely not with you on something like the Navy executing Big Mum and Kaido. That's so not One Piece, it will not happen.
And I don't think we'll see the kind of major paradigm shift I get the impression you want when you say "People new age focuses around: Luffy, Blackbeard, Sakazuki, perhaps Kid." Unless we get a second timeskip, there won't be time for the dust to truly settle before the end.
