The Red Line isn't entirely a giant wall, you know. There are probably points where it's flat enough to cross by foot.
Oda Reveals What the One Piece Isn't
-
-
Another thing is, the ancient kingdom was wiped out when the 20 wg countries banded together. Things couldn't be that isolated if 20 countries can pool resources to defeat the ancient kingdom.
I mean the WG uses kairoseki to cross the calm belt but that's a recent thing. Even if the 20 countries were all grand line countries, the WG runs the world right now. Including all 4 blues, so it can't be that hard to transport goods or etc from one blue to another.
-
Makes sense to me.
Reverse mountain being the only way to travel to other Blues and marines being the only ones who can cross Calm Belts. Certainly there is no freedom in the world where you can't travel freely, what with limited ways of travel, pirates killing you and WG possibly enslaving your country/killing you.
That Red Line theory isn't complete rubbish. That's not to say I think it will happen.
But the idea that Red Line is an artificial thing just because it limits freedom is insane.
Hell, the Calm Belts and the Sea Kings also limit people's freedom. Does this mean that they're artificial too?
-
Reverse mountain being the only way to travel to other Blues
It makes sense to you because you don't understand One Piece geography appaarently.
-
@MDL:
Sanji was working on the Orbit ship when he met Zeff, so if we assume the encounter happened on the Grand Line (Zeff being there + the size of the storm)
then we can just as easily assume that Sanji boarded the ship in North Blue, and the ship went to the Grand Line. After being washed up and rescued, Zeff & Sanji retreated to East Blue and founded the Baratie.
Why go there despite Sanji being born in the North? Simple. Zeff was the boss, so he decided where they went. :)Makes sense to me.
Still doesn't make sense that the Red Line would be artificial. It's just one of several geographic obstacles.
Its too damn big to be artificial. I mean look at it, its how many miles high (10,000?) above the waves, and then below the waves all the way to the ocean floor.'
I mean look at the giant bridge, Tequila Wolf, they've been building it for 800 years and its still not completed… and that's just in East Blue. That thing has to be a fraction of the size of the Red Line (more likely a fraction of a fraction of the size)
SO nope Red Line is not artificial
In every pic its solid and no crags in it to sail through.
….IF there were ways to sail through it, say if there were openings in the seas outside of the Grand Line/Calm Belts, then it would be known and people wouldn't go the way of Reverse Mountain, (very dangerous with four currents from each Blue joining to flow into the Grand Line), Marejois (nosey Government) and Fishman Island (very dangerous journey due to being at bottom of ocean floor).

Not to mention the Sunlight Tree Eve, which has been planted there for at least since the Void Century, considering that Fishman Island already existed back then with Joy Boy promising the Fishmen/Merfolk to take them to the surface.

People can thoerize what they want.
One Piece world's crazyness might partly be explained with bio and geo engineering. Advanced weapons of the ancient history, an advanced lost civilization, devil fruits, weird animals, weird human races…
Of course, it could be just normal for this world, and Oda took a different direction (than the theory implies).

All this talk makes me wonder if Oda is going to place an arc or at least a flashback on redline.
I mean, we literally know shit about it. Is it just all mountains or are there cities and stuff over there (aside from Mariejoa)? If yes, then hell, Oda could even pull a third part of one piece that would place on it (altough it wouldn't make any sense)

Ummm what about the Reverie? If we gonna have a Reverie arc
-
Depending on how cheesy Oda wants to make the ending of the Raftel arc, I could still see Luffy saying/implying something like: "Well, it's super cool we have this One Piece treasure, but the true treasure to me is all the adventures I've had and that I have the freedom to go on even more adventures". At least he may think it, even if we don't see his thought bubbles.
But I'm happy that this theory was debunked, even if I never considered it especially probable.
-
@The:

I think he meant some place other than mariejois/reverse mountain/twin capes.
-
I think he meant some place other than mariejois/reverse mountain/twin capes.
Yeah he whrite about that but what he want is more info about the Red Line and I think we can have more in Reverie or whatever place we go
-
Whatever the treasure is, I'd assume it includes one of those theme park mold machines with a Den Den Mushi that scans you so you get a bronze statue.
This sounds like the best candidate for the One Piece (or at least Uranus) ever !
And I bet that the statue will be so Sugoi that the fact that after Luffy uses it once and it brakes would make it that much more incredible.Screw the Red Line, we've got a winner right here.
But in all seriousness, Oda must give us a proper bronze statue for Luffy after all the teasing. (most recently: Kyros's statue)

This thread serves as another example why the OP community isn`t able to handle spoilers coming from Oda.
Just keep us guessing and the story will reveal everything when the time has come. -
It's kinda sad how one sentence from Oda could convince the dumbasses , who claimed friendship is One Piece , that One Piece won't be anything like friendship when Oda literally has been dropping hints for more than 15 years .
-

Long story short, OP will not become Fairy Tail

@Dahaka.:
It's about acquiring the ultimate freedom which is what Luffy aims at.
Considering this quote from Oda basically confirms that One Piece is a tangable thing, doesn't that put a giant hole into this?
-

He said that One Piece is not… nothing. Like you know, you get there, and there is nothing, and it turns out One Piece is what has already happened to you during the journey.
With the "freedom" it is actually something, you get ancient weapon/fruit/rio poneglyph/all of them + symbolic classic shitload of treasure and that is your prize, and then with your prize you do all the shit to kick WG ass and all the rest leading up to a mentioned "ultimate freedom". -

Luffy would toss it away and destroy it.
-
Unless it's a grill or something.
-
I highly doubt One Piece is any one item. It's a treasure massive enough to draw the entire world to it, so I at the very least expect a mountain - literal if need be - of riches and secrets that could shape the world as we know it. No, I don't support destroying the Redline. That's just stupid.
-

Yeah this is basically what I think it is. As I've said before, I think One Piece is a huge diversion of sorts. Like, everything has been Oda playing with us. One Piece is the title of the story, Roger's execution talking about it is the first thing we see. Everyone's going after it, the whole story is shaped around it. I don't deny that One Piece is a large treasure, but I think from a story perspective it's not the treasure itself that will be important. It's the meaning behind the treasure, the secrets or whatever mysteries that treasure entails. Something that will shake the world of One Piece to its core if it was ever discovered.
What's great about One Piece is how amazing it was for Roger to do what he did. Was he lying? Is there really a treasure or not? Either way, he inspired the current age of pirates from his one statement. What I love about One Piece the most pre TS is how there was this concept of an age, this concept of the state the world was in. When we get to Jaya, Bellamy talks about the new age. But that concept is abstract in of itself, until we get some more clarification later on. Luffy starts his adventure on the ass end of the Great Age of Pirates. That age is now over with the death of Whitebeard, and Blackbeard and the Supernovas moving into the NW causing huge stuff there. It is now a New Age, and fittingly enough Whitebeard's death at the end of the previous one had him confirming the existence of One Piece.
I think what I'm trying to say is, the mystery and treasure itself is a great concept. Any ideas like "destroying the Red Line" undermines all of that. All of the mystery, and the ties it has to One Piece and the age they're currently in. Plus all of the lore and backstory that has yet to even be remotely answered. Destroying the Red Line isn't it.
Also, I should clarify, the geography of One Piece doesn't actually matter to us, as readers. We don't care if the Red Line's there or not cause we haven't actually seen the effect it has on the various blues. Hell, we haven't even seen 3 of the blues. Honestly, if the Ancient Kingdom's whole plan was to destroy the Red Line, I promise you Oda would have peppered One Piece with references to that. It's how he operates. He would have set it up, built up to it constantly throughout the story. Geographically speaking, the Grand Line and One Piece's world in general makes it really hard to even have a thing like Raftel be hidden for all this time. Why can't Doffy/Pell/Buffalo, or anyone else who can fly just fly to Raftel? Why don't you just climb over the back of Reverse Mountain somehow and go that way? The Marines can cross the calm belt, and Rayleigh can swim right through it, so why don't they just cross the calm belt right into Raftel?
Red Line only serves a geographic purpose to give us an idea of the world. Story wise, there's no point to its destruction.
-

I totally agree with this and doubt that the inherited will theory is what Oda has planned…I believe Luffy would never destroy part of the world...

What about the strawhat, though? A lot of people have assumed that even if it might not be the OP, it's somehow connected to it?
I mean, Rogers had it. A guy who listened to Norlands stories had it (or one that looks just like it and he appears both in the history book as well as in the "real history" flashback thing). Maybe it's a magic hat that draws adventure to itself or something. Or a key.
-
There must have been some magic in that old straw hat they found; for when they put it on his head, he began to behave in a very silly manner.
I'm not saying that the point cannot be valid; merely, that if the straw hat IS magic, then it is likely to be some physical manifestation of the Inherited Will. Which would seem kind of…strange. Weren't Devil Fruits supposed to be the in-story explanation for magic?
-

I would find that incredibly dumb. To me, the Straw Hat is obviously symbolic, but the significance of me to it is everything it represented. I think making it so that it has that big of a connection to the OP, or that it's magic, would really diminish and undermine what it meant for Shanks to pass it onto Luffy, their promise. As well as Luffy's feelings toward it in general, and calling it his treasure. Their group's even named after it, for pete's sake.
I'm already unhappy about Roger having owned it at all.
-

I don't think it's a literal pile of gold and jewels. The fact that Buggy, a man who has to know what it is from being a part of Roger's crew, has no interest in it despite having had a map to the Grand Line at one point speaks volumes.
A whole bunch of secrets makes more sense, but you gotta wonder what would be so important that Roger couldn't even risk telling the world before he died.
-

one piece is another world.
strawhat is the entrance to get to it. :getlost: -
Or maybe the strawhat just contains some kind of clue on how to get to Raftel =d Or maybe there's a guardian there that will acknowledge the ones with the hat. Or maybe it's nothing at all.

We should be used to Oda's sense of creativity now. But he's so randomly brilliant, he still has us guessing.
Luffy himself found it a requirement to steal gold from Skypiea and to explain to Jinbei that he wants all the meat lol. A reward is waiting, that's what Luffy set sail for (since there was discussion of the first few volumes). It's the way of a "__pirate". Let's not forget the theme of the manga before we go into that deep shit. Though I do think that bonds with nakama and the journey itself contribute to the treasure that is One Piece, I always felt that it'll be tangible. I also suspect that Oda will add one of his humorous trademark twists to the treasure.
There's only assumption 'till we have the fact.

And the All Blue, though it doesn't have much plot relevance aside from being Sanji's dream right now.
