Where do you think Season 6 will end? They seemed to be going by saga at first, then they split the whole Water 7/CP9 thing into 2 parts. Will Season 6 cover both Thriller Bark and Sabaody Archipelago, or just Thriller Bark?
-
Season 6 is episodes 337 - 384.
-
what do you think season 7 will cover?
-
what do you think season 7 will cover?
I can see season 7 covering from 385-456. This will give us 6 voyages all with 12 episodes each. Then Season 8 could go from 457-516. Which would give us 5 voyages of 12 episodes each and season 9 would start off with the time skip. (this is assuming they add the toriko special in episode 492, if not, then just minus 1 episode from one of the voyages)This would also give us a total of 42 voyages before the timeskip. So, in just 21 collections we would have everything before the timeskip. Assuming everything I said comes true. If not 385-456.. then I think it would go to 458.
-
Wo, this is freakin awesome news! Guess One Piece is doing that good eh?
-
There was no news. Just plenty more speculation.
-
Wo, this is freakin awesome news! Guess One Piece is doing that good eh?
Not news. Just theorizing what could end up happening.
-
I'm looked back at FUNimations cast list for One Piece and WOW! I forgot that the casting of characters has an amazing amount of variation!
-
This thread is actually pretty boring without speculation honestly.
-
I'll bust out my tinfoil hat theories then to liven things up (don't take this too seriously).
Funimation has a vendetta against One Piece and they like Fairy Tail much, much better (probably due to sales). Evidence:
-
One Piece season 6 release date is unknown after previous solicitation
-
Fairy Tail release schedule for the WHOLE YEAR is out
-
One Piece packaging for Seasons 4 and 5 were a joke, terrible disc art, a bunch of typos, and very bland art on the dvd-wraps
-
Fairy Tail packaging is insanely nice - DVD/Blu-Ray combo, great disc art with nice character shots, awesome "frame style" slip cover, and great art for dvd-wrap
-
One Piece gets licensed in small seasonal chunks
-
Fairy Tail had all remaining episodes licensed in 1 shot
-
One Piece Movie release was pretty bare-bones with terrible disc art
-
Fairy Tail Movie release had an awesome black blu ray case and better packaging
Overall, Funimation gives Fairy Tail much better treatment (which, again, is probably because of sales)
-
-
The third one isn't very fair, but the rest I agree with. I think I complained about the same thing last year. One Piece releases aren't given any attention. I think it's a quantity thing; they're just like, "Oh, ANOTHER One Piece release, sure, okay." Don't bother to put time and quality into their releases because there are so many and they're putting them out at a high speed.
And I doubt this break is going to matter; season 6 will be just as low quality in terms of packaging.
I'm still kind of pissed about not hearing anything; I really want a new set! Those filler episodes kind of suck.
-
Man this is a real bummer :/ , me and nephews were really looking forward to hearing more Brook along with how Perona English laugh will be
-
Jesus…. even Fairy Tail does better than One Piece in America. Our favorite series just can't catch a break here. :-p
-
It's sad, considering how poorly Fairy Tail is structured for the long term in comparison. One Piece has a much more developed world. Even if you cut it down to the amount of chapters Fairy Tail has. One Piece is so much more complex and rich in originality; Fairy Tail follows shonen conventions too closely– to the point where it fails to ever be surprising.
-
- One Piece season 6 release date is unknown after previous solicitation
- Fairy Tail release schedule for the WHOLE YEAR is out
And yet how many sets were released last year and the year prior to last year?
We already know we're getting four sets for Season 6..and a movie….AND most likely more seasons on the way.- One Piece packaging for Seasons 4 and 5 were a joke, terrible disc art, a bunch of typos, and very bland art on the dvd-wraps
- Fairy Tail packaging is insanely nice - DVD/Blu-Ray combo, great disc art with nice character shots, awesome "frame style" slip cover, and great art for dvd-wrap
Now this seems like a silly thing to get worked up over.
The disc art is perfectly fine (FUNi even went through the effort of changing it in S5V4 and changing it to the Sunny afterwards), there has only been at least 2 typos, and the box art gets the job done.
Episodes 1- 578 have NEVER been released on Blu-ray in Japan, so don't expect a DVD/Blu-ray combo in the west until that happens eventually.- One Piece gets licensed in small seasonal chunks
- Fairy Tail had all remaining episodes licensed in 1 shot
One Piece is quintuple the length of Fairy Tail, and FUNi has been licensing a new season every year. They've gone through One Piece faster in the last three years than they've gone through all of Fairy Tail.
- One Piece Movie release was pretty bare-bones with terrible disc art
- Fairy Tail Movie release had an awesome black blu ray case and better packaging
The Fairy Tail movie is also the ONLY Fairy Tail movie.
One Piece has twelve, only three of which FUNi has acquired so far. Fans are going to buy the movies whether they're bare-boned or not.Overall, Funimation gives Fairy Tail much better treatment (which, again, is probably because of sales)
Then why isn't Fairy Tail on Toonami yet? The fact that they allowed One Piece to air on Toonami first says something.
-
While it probably doesn't matter much…

Fairy Tail has way more likes than One Piece, on their FB page at least. Take that as you will….
-
Is Fairy Tail any good, i am always open to trying new anime if they follow a good story with great characters

I mean, it's mearly ok. Pretty much generic fluff.

For Toonami, Funimation has said that they have no choice as to what gets picked up (it is up to Toonami). Funimation's rep Justin Rojas explained that Funimation simply gives Toonami a list of all their titles and Toonami decides which titles they want to air

That doesn't matter even in the slightest.
One Piece has dozens and dozens of Facebook pages and fan groups. Fairy Tail probably doesn't even have that many. For Toonami, Funimation has said that they have no choice as to what gets picked up (it is up to Toonami). I find it hard to believe that FUNi wouldn't at least make show suggestions. I don't think they would just give Toonami a list of shows and NOT provide any input at all.
-
Would it have been insane for FUNi to only make profit on dvd releases of One Piece if Toonami never picked it back up? Does streaming the series help them? I can't see how something like Fairy Tale is doing "well" if its DVD only, a fairly long running series, and not on TV.
-
@LUFFY#1:
This thread is actually pretty boring without speculation honestly.
To employ a time honored phrase, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Plenty of Funimation's biggest sellers don't make it on TV (namely all of those Ecchi/Fan Service series which bring in the dough). Fairy Tail is DEFINITELY selling well for Funimation. TV broadcast status is irrelevant, because, like I said, Adult Swim makes choices on what airs, not Funi.
If Fairy Tail was not selling well, Funimation would not have batch licensed (essentially) the entire series and projected the release schedule for an ENTIRE YEAR, that is unheard of for Funimation. Fairy Tail is one of their top selling shows, and I wouldn't be surprised if it makes Funimation more money than One Piece does (hence the treatment it gets)
-
Jesus christ guys take it easy just because fairy tail has a mapped out schedule for its releases doesnr mean its treated better just relax

Ok, one major thing that a lot of people need to take a step back and realize here is this:
Fairy Tail is produced by A-1 Pictures (A subsidiary of Aniplex)One Piece is produced by Toei.
One of these animation companies has a reputation for being notoriously difficult to work with, and is dealing with the single most popular anime in Japan right now. Guess which company I'm talking about?
FUNimation's extra commitment to Fairy Tail doesn't necessarily mean "It's more lucrative than One Piece" it most likely means "It's got a more accommodating licensor".

I respectfully disagree on this point. The licensor is irrelevant in terms of Funimation announcing + sticking to release dates and decisions on packaging. I doubt Toei told Funimation "You should stick to using the Going Merry as your discart for 9 straight voyages or else" or "I want you guys to announced a batch of episodes for May but then fail to solicit it and don't speak anything about it." And A-1 Pictures probably had no say in Funimation's decision to project release dates for an entire year.
The main point Toei/A-1 would be involved in is licensing, and (based on that leaked press release report) Toei has let Funimation pick up plenty of One Piece episodes – my complaint is lying with the the fact then Funimation picks up tons of Fairy Tail, they go out and give fans a concrete plan of its release dates for a year and provide top quality packaging, while for One Piece, when they license a bunch of episodes, they announced a release date that obviously isn't gonna be met and STILL haven't made any kind of statement about it (it was supposed to street in less than 2 weeks), as well as lazy package design. I just wish they treated their One Piece license more like the Fairy Tail license, with more solid release date information (release doesn't have to be blazing fast, just let us know what is going on! if there is a delay SAY IT) and better packaging (the dvd wrap-around art was so plain, and going merry on every disc for a couple years was just lazy).
-
So the initial release date would have been 12 days from now, sucks that it has been delayed possibly beyond August :/
-
Ok… seriously???
STILL talking and making a fuss about the delay.
Delay is a delay and all the crap around the delay is unnecessary.I vote for next subject!
xD -

I just have to say from what I've seen, Fairy tail is definitely more popular in the U.S than one piece. I have no idea why, but lots of anime fans love fairy tail, but one piece? Hell no it sucks. I never understood this =/
-
Meh. One Piece was doomed from the start looking the way it does. The 4Kids dub made things even worse, and yes… it was THAT bad to still be affecting it nowadays.
It's a miracle it even HAS a following here in America. Kinda just sucks though. These are the reasons I wish it were more popular. When you're more popular, you get better treatment.
-
How is One Piece in any way "doomed" in the states now? If anything the series is more popular than it ever has been in the US; not only is the uncut dub back on TV, but we're being treated to over 300+ episodes of the series dubbed and have almost every volume of the manga officially translated and for sale. We even got a full-page color ad for the series drawn by Oda himself in the New York Times! Stuff like this is a cause for celebration, not grieving that a certain series may or may not be getting a hypothetical "better" treatment.
-
What the heck? One Piece is doing just fine, guys.
Surely it had its 4Kids days and the Toonami cancellation in 2008 but since then things have only gotten better. Since then, we've gotten:
- Every episode from the beginning completely redubbed
- The simulcast in 2009 (starting with episode 391)
- The manga speed-up of THIRTY volumes in 2010 (that's 32 volumes in 8 months, Dec 2009-July 2010)
- One Piece getting various merchandise licenses through Great Eastern
- One Piece (along with a few other select Jump titles) chapters being released digitally on the same day as Japan
- More video games (digital and physical)
- The RETURN of its television broadcast
- More seasons and movies
Really, the ominous days for One Piece are over. Back then all we had was a shoddy-ass dub and manga volumes that were extremely behind and only released three times a year. In a few months it'll be a decade since the 4Kids dub came to be… which was a long time ago. The FUNimation dub has only existed for almost seven years and it's accomplished a whole lot since then. There's a completely new market for it now and it's literally impossible for newcomers to be exposed to the 4Kids dub since the last time it had any relevance was in 2007. One Piece is now heavily identified with FUNimation and that's because they keep investing a lot of time, money, and effort into it. If it wasn't doing well enough, that wouldn't make any sense financially do to invest as much as they have. One Piece still has room to grow (which it is), but so does the whole anime market in the United States. As much as I don't like Fairy Tail, I don't want it to fail for FUNimation because they treat it with respect and even Fairy Tail's success helps keep the anime industry afloat in the US, which, in turn, is good for One Piece. If One Piece was "doomed from the start" as Detective Conan, Kodocha, and Big Windup were, it would have been gone a long time ago.
-
They didn't mean it was doing poorly, only that 4kids hurt it's chances of being a huge blockbuster in the states. Will never be as big as Naruto, Pokemon, or DBZ. Perhaps it would've had a better chance at that popularity had it never been dubbed by 4kids? I don't know, but that seems to be a popular theory.
Though it is decently popular and does well enough to warrant new games and anime.
I'm still mad about the lack of explanation or new date for the next season, but I know you guys are intolerant of slight impatience.

I am abit impatient aswell, its not the waiting for the release, its the fact they said one date and then no explanation as to why it was changed or delayed, hell i would be happy waiting another year if that's when it was set.
I'm eagerly awaiting any news regarding this issue from Funimation.
-
Another year? Woah, woah. Don't get ahead of yourself. I don't want to wait half that long. I greatly enjoy my weekly doses of new dubbed One Piece.
-
Same for me, doney81. My complaints don't stem from the wait between seasons – I have no problem with waiting. My problems arise from getting hyped for a release date and then BAM, delay with no word from Funimation. It stems from Funimation's unacceptable and shoddy business practices. If Apple announced the new iPhone and then, come the release date, it didn't come out with no word from them, there would be an outrage. If any other company tried to pull what Funimation is pulling, it just wouldn't fly -- which is why I am so baffled that so many of Funimation's fans are actually defending them for this. Funimation is a business and what they are pulling is unacceptable for a business.
-
When does the next months solicitations come out?
-
I just have to say from what I've seen, Fairy tail is definitely more popular in the U.S than one piece. I have no idea why, but lots of anime fans love fairy tail, but one piece? Hell no it sucks. I never understood this =/
Because anime series that prefer epic battles over story tend to do better in the US. In Fairy Tail's case, it appeals to more of a variety of fanbases as opposed to One Piece.
-
My gripe is not solely on the delay but its with Funimation not making some kind of announcement such as this One Piece DVD will be delayed until so and so date, May 13 is nearing close so they need to say something
-
Anyone else find it strange that this delay happened right after the Madman/Film Z incident?
-
When does the next months solicitations come out?
Solicitations are usually around the 15th or so, so we should see them in maybe 2 weeks
-
Part of me feels like we still won't see anything about Season 6 Voyage 1 in the August solicitations. September seems more likely at this point. No reason for this other than a gut feeling though.
-

I'm guessing we at least get another collection.
-
Yeah, that's what I'm hoping for as well. It seems very likely that we'll get something at this point.
-
All jokes and speculations aside.
I am getting a little anoyed..
No news no bits ,not even a slight breeze of information.
I mean we are THE fans of the english version of One Piece.
Its Funi's most popular series. ( even though Fairy Tail is getting closer i think)Anyways, sadly i can't go ask funi for info cause i live 84085802097458 miles away…..
Can someone maby try to sqeeze any info out of fusionimation? -

I thought One Piece season 6 collection 1 is out this month but it does not show up in amazon or rightstuf
