Didn't Don Chinjao try to assign Luffy as leader of the Happou Navy? If so, then what's he gonna do about the almighty savior, Jussop?

How about you form some kind of argument instead of greeting me with some characters?
Should be pretty self explanatory, Schabry.

Should be pretty self explanatory, Schabry.
No, no, please do. I can't read your mind.
The way I see it, death is a good punishment for those who are deserting to join the enemy cause. Anything other than that, though, I think it's pretty unreasonable.
Because the enemies are evil and your party is good? You do help the enemy by deserting, therefor you are joining the enemies cause of eliminating their enemy, your own party.

No, he just placed the Happou Navy at his disposal a la Boa

I thought that Chinjao was just going to be Luffy's ally and the Happou navy would come to the Strawhat's aid as a thank you for restoring his head.

there is a chapter this week right? Cause Shonen Jump said they are having a special where they are going to release three pages from the Big 3's chapters early.
Naruto spoilers are out

@Farsighted:
Yeah, I know ….. I'm not feeling very creative this morning or insightful . I haven't had my coffee yet . That, and I didn't want the derailing to keep happening . This is also the first full chapter discussion that I got to say my thought and opinions and I'm aware that my contribute to discussion just might be a repeat of what others said .
Is all fear, I guess. I still don't get why people need coffee to function properly.
-
Schabrak. You were arguing that Akainu killing the deserters should be OK since it was behind the scenes and none of the ranks really saw.
So, what about Coby and Helmeppo?
Let's also not forget about this little gem:

It's OP break.

…more spoiler talk where it just simply isn't allowed...
… lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Is obvious that One Piece is a mixture of various things and times, but the main themes of the series is obviously not modern times.
The themes are applicable to pretty much any era, certainly any modern era. The themes are to do with freedom, justice, adventure, friendship …

Eh, I need it to feel awake and in order for me to think better. I think, I'll logout to make some. I don't want to blather on a forum or to post anything stupid

I believe he was saying the opposite. And are you forgetting that Coby wanted to desert before seeing Akainu killing the other guy? And that after that he even tried to fight against Luffy? In the end it seems it worked.
That other scene is a different matter. In that time the problem was of that of letting the last enemies getting away and taking care of the ones that were down, or keeping pursuing them and making more deaths(in both sides). -

The last scene is even more blatantly a team kill move that EVERYONE present could see.
And, I think you need to read Schabrak's post more carefully. Because I'm pretty sure he was saying what I said he was saying.
Of course, I could be mistaken. If so, then sowwy.

Morale: Morale (also known as esprit de corps(French pronunciation: [ɛspʀi də kɔʀ])) is the capacity of a group's members to maintain belief in an institution or goal, particularly in the face of opposition or hardship. Morale is often referenced by authority figures as a generic value judgment of the willpower, obedience, and self-discipline of a group tasked with performing duties assigned by a superior. It made Coby perform his duties, so it increased his morale(even if it was because he was afraid of the consequence).
You have to see that the thing that happened in that last scene, with Akainu and Coby, nobody was really wrong. There are pros and cons in both ideologies. Let the enemy get away to fight another day can be prejudicial, but not knowing when to stop the pursuit can increase the level of avoidable deaths to an unsatisfactory degree. Choosing between the two is not an easy decision.
In this case of the Marineford I would say that I'm on the side of Akainu. They had the Whitebeard pirates and his allies in check, that opportunity will not come again easily. -
Hmm, maybe he could have focused on the rampaging pirates that were right in front of him instead?
What rampaging pirates? There were none. All points towards Akainu being under way to complete his orders of deceiving Squardo.
And seriously. When it comes to contribution towards war, Akainu did more then entire rest of marines combined. And he actually took care to never hit any marines with his big AoE attacks.

Is there any trick to reading the chapter discussion post in one or more sitting ?, because I want to be more involve in chapter discussions instead posting my two cents here and there.
-
Schabrak. You were arguing that Akainu killing the deserters should be OK since it was behind the scenes and none of the ranks really saw.
Akainu was in a negative bloodlust at that moment though. And he would still do nothing wrong from the marines perspective. Him risking a fight with Shanks would be the bad decision here, not taking out Coby. I've argued out their perspectives, not really mine.
P.S.: I'm a pacifist.

Let's also not forget about this little gem:
Mutiny. Also punishable by death in the modern US army.
More so, failure to stop the mutiny is also punishable. Altough I think that only by imprisonment.

In the first days of the chapters threads they are mostly focused about the chapter. Soon or Later it derails in some degree.

Yeah, pay no attention to anyone who whined about your post, since it was completely fine. Nobody should care about multiple people having the same viewpoint. I'm on the verge of deleting a whole lot of recent posts in this thread except yours because yours is about the only one that was actually on topic.
-
Specially if there's a forthcoming break.
Especially when every little topic has been discussed to death already.

I've noticed that, in fact I've been a Arlong Park lurker since Punk Hazard, but I used to scan the chapter discussions, I'm just wonderin' if I'll manage to keep going in discussions or not because I know, that one of these days I'll type something sarcastic or give a opinion that's not going to be popular and I'll need to explain or defend myself because I've notice that sometimes argument on the internet happen and its all about how ya handle them and I want to remove my internet greenhorns sort to speak by posting comments.
-
And now you just have to post something you want to discuss about the chapter instead of talking about a fictional scenario that might happen if you post something to dicsuss.
-
Still, guys. Akainu's a total jerk.
I mean, he wants to kill Luffy just because of his heritage. That's kinda jerky.
OT: I loved the chapter, Usopp's messiah moment was great. Can't wait to see fights start to break out in this mayhem to come.
-
I wonder if those ex-toys will keep in mind that Usopp is working under Luffy still. Would they listen to his orders too?

Okay, Here goes nothing. I think that it's awesome that Ussop's lies are coming true, especially his lie about having hella followers and I feel bad for Usopp at the moment because I would imagine that while it looks like Mr. Hajrudin is being gentle with Usopp as far as his giant strength goes, it's probable painful for Usopp to be hold up like that with his injuries . I think Usopp should see a doctor Asap.

Totes. They probably assume that Usopp liberated them on Luffy's orders.

Sure sure, that's what Usopp said in the chapter, that it's painful to even be alive right now with so many things broken, bruised or burned.
-
OT: I don't think that Usopp is necessarily down for the count. We've seen him take a hell of a beating before and continue to stand and fight. He doesn't look any worse off this time than he did in his fight with Mr. 4 and Ms. Merry Christmas.

It seems that you really care about people outside of the Internet that is. Is pretty cool the whole Usopp true lies, but Oda went overboard this time around and made Usopp speak the truth for the first time (Character development over 9000), so I hope that Usopp doesn't go back to square one and start lying his ass off and I also found it weird that Usopp didn't thought anything about the giant.

Give Ussop a rest.
He barely can talk and has white eyes most of time but you still want him to put up a fight? Thats sadistic

For, someone who doesn't have Haki or wasn't that strong to begin with Usopp is a very durable dude and Durability, I think is a very important thing to have in order to survive in the world of One Piece. Additionally, I would like to thank the posters who gave me some forum advice today.

Well, considering if my memory is right, Usopp did mentioned that he wanted to be a warrior of the sea during the Little Garden arc upon seeing Brogy and Durry and had mentioned wanting to go to Elbaf . I didn't think that Usopp would've thought Mr.Hajrudin would be to be that unusual .
-
Usopp is at a a point where he can only contribute to a fight with an idea. Maybe one critical shot after some short recovery.

Well he was done with fighting after that fight, wasn't he?
Chopper bandaged his whole body.

Imagine if they didnt and Usopp finds this out.
"Hey Luffy, Remember that time with the Merry? Well I've been looking forward to this". Count Dooku voice

Yes.
He also said last chapter he would leave the fighting for everybody else.
