Marvel TV Series Thread: The Inhuman Cosplayers

Show has arguably been pretty hit and miss with their dialog so far but this episode for me was pretty much all miss for me.
A lot of cheesy shots and scenes.
I actually was pretty bored this week.

I can settle for a show not being that great in the first few episodes, if there are elements in between that I enjoy.
But the longer it goes on the higher the need for a show to find its rhythm fast before I lose interest.
I'm waiting for that episode now that makes me go wow. I'll give it another 4 episodes, that's how long it took for parks and rec to catch me.

That said even if I drop this if the buzz is there for the later season I might pick in up again in a few years we'll see.

I've been kind of bored the first two episodes as well. Didn't watch episode 3 yet, but I'm sure I'll watch the entire season/series for one aspect alone.

I have a feeling they will use some of the shows characters in the future movies, regardless of how small and thus I kind of feel I'm forced to watch the series cause I don't want to miss out on anything.

That was actually the best episode so far imo. It's still not an amazing show but there has been an improvement. Hopefully it keeps up.

They won't blow their budget on him or use crappy effects. This is a major network they know what they are doing.

He's a big deal but they will have to tone him down a lot anyway, since in the comics he once froze most of earths heroes, including the avengers and the fantastic four.

I too like it. But now that my usual hype about the new shiny series has worn off it's just not that special anymore. I'll keep watching of course but my expectations aren't that high anymore which is sad. :/

Despite the full season pickup, they must not much faith in the show if they keep throwing in so many tidbits and tie ins to the movies.

I like Coulson, I like Ming-Na's character who's name I can't remember, and hate the rest of the cast.

Totally agree. And so far the episodes are not really that entertaining. They feel corny and just plain generic. I have more fun watching arrow, even though that show also has it's flaws.

I agree about Arrow. its not perfect, but all of the characters are believeable which I think is a credit to the writers and actors. With Shield, the main cast are way too stereotypical and the actors are just crap. Again accept for Clark Gregg and Ming-Na who are carrying the show by themselves. Even the guest stars have been bad…the scorch episode in particular.

My hope is this is most just a placeholder crew and half of them get Whedoned sooner rather than later.

Wiping out half the team or possessing one of them with a demon or something would go a ways.

I really enjoyed this episode again. Lots of moments between characters that worked for me.

Even though at one point I thought I was watching Torchwood, then Warehouse 13 and then Torchwood again. Then I felt some Buffy parallels with Coulson's after life experience. Ward unable to fight anything à la Xander in "The Body". And especially a certain episode of S5 of Angel that must not even be named without spoiler tags because trapped might read this. :ninja:

From past experience watching Buffy and Angel Whedon shows don't start getting awesome until season 2 following a great season 1 finale.

I don't know enough about Power Rangers to know who that is - so hopefully not embarressing myself here - but Fitz and Simmons are seperate people.

I doubt they're going to wipe out any of the crewmembers - but there is a likelyhood of someone getting powers, probably Skye from my bet.

I don't know - it seems to be the feeling I am getting from the show all the stuff around Skye being secret. But yeah unlikely till at least 2nd or 3rd season. First will be left to draw the viewers in and get used to the crew.

He's referring to Gem and Gemma (Gem is the male). Unlike Fitzsimmons, Gem and Gemma are twin siblings. The two of them are absolute geniuses, talk almost simultaneously, and have a hyperactive rude streak where they like to tease those around them.

[hide]The two of them are assumed dead at a certain part of the story where they are seen chasing after some 'classified' products and an explosion seals them in. However, we are later greeted by a Gold and Silver Ranger who turn out to be Gem and Gemma. The two become Power Rangers (the Gold and Silver suit being the 'classified' products they were going for) that fight quite differently from the other Rangers. In particular, they tend to be more active as fighters, where they'll shoot first and ask questions later.

They're nicknamed 'The Boom Twins'.[/hide]

Basically, what's he's saying is for Fitzsimmons to become a little more pro-active in combat, only instead of being like Ward or Maye, they could be a completely berserk duo using tools and devices as weapons. Fighting with science!

I totally second that.

I also second Skye getting superpowers.

Liked last week's episode, but I am a bit disappointed in the lack of development. The tease about Coulson's re/sur-vival (whichever) is dragging out too much for me, and FitzSimmons could have a bit more emotional attachment than what was shown here. I get that they didn't want to include anything romantic (yet) but come on. This is a moment where it was totally warranted and virtually unavoidable (but still was avoided, thanks a lot…)

Also, Skye is getting on my nerves. But I like the show... Looking forward to the episode dealing with the Thor 2 aftermath.

Mmh the humor is still largely hit and miss, it feels really cheesy at times. Well I at least smirked at that window thing.
I thought this episode was kind of ok. I enjoyed the shield side a lot this episode. The intervening politics at work are just a bit too basic though, but the idea behind it of having some friction because of the policies that make the system work were fun to me.
I assume that the way that agent Hand handled things is her interpretation of how to work the system, like we saw Coulson do it while invoking more sympathy with the viewers(with making call like making sky part of the team).

I wish they'd lay off a bit with the callbacks, it's beginning to have dimnishing returns to me.
They should savor them more and make them more fun. I'm ok with dropping names if it's relevant to a new movie that has come out, but doing it all the time gets a bit tiresome but maybe I'm a bit nitpicky here.

My current hope is that season 1 will wrap up Coulson's story line of what happened to him and hopefully make the other cast compelling enough so they can carry the show without him, not seeing it yet but you never know I mean Fitz has grown on me a bit this episode.

Meh. Last episode wasn't bad, many not-bad elements, but also many things I felt very misplaced. Top of the list makes the knockdown of a senior officer by Simmons without repercussions, under direction of Skye, and 3 minutes to "hack" into some highly classified missions. Some? Oh wait, all. This really discredits SHIELD as an organisation as whole, and it irks me.

Redeeming things: Coulson being awesome, and finally showing initiative in finding out what happened to him. As DarkAsthma just said, I too hope that we'll get the full reveal behind his "resurrection" by the end of the series. And Fitz got even better this episode, so that's a plus. Skye still pisses me off though, she either shouldn't be there at all or at least have some tiny amount of respect and/or get to face some consequences for once that are more severe than "you get a bracelet to track you and restrict access" while everyone (well, Coulson) is still nice to her beyond reason.

So, any comments on the latest development? We won't get the next episode until next month, sadly. I'm especially interested in any current (logical) theories involving Coulson's "death", which AGAIN has been teased with no additional information whatsoever…

I'm surprised that the Centipede group is aware of this, actually. I mean, it's rather strange that they'd know about Coulson's death, don't you think? Also, just a thought, but is there a relation between the group and Extremis from Iron Man 3?

Reading Movie Bob's review I like his speculation that she might end up being Spider Woman O.o.

The powers being electrical related and whole profeciency manipulating the "web".

lol I seriously doubt she would be spider woman. And I think her hacking skills are something she naturally acquired.

Not sure where to start with what her powers could be but I really hope they don't take the easy way out and say she is Asgardian with that said if she was classified as an object of unknown origin I'm willing to bet she isn't (fully)human.

Spiderwoman no, I think she was part of the Spiderman license to Sony but if I'm wrong then she's certainly possible.

Can't be anyone from X-Men…not She-Hulk or Scarlet Witch...

the only one who comes to mind is Ms. Marvel but i don't see them wasting the most powerful Marvel woman on this....

Spider-woman isn't included in the Spider-man, as she is an Avengers character first and foremost, as she never had much connection to Spider-Man for her initial story. Any connection now is through Spider-Man's contribution for the Avengers (or in the case where she is a clone of Peter Parker in the Ultimate Universe, but it's best we neglect that).

Yeah based on that last episode, that's exactly what I'm thinking. The group that eradicated the village where she was found is almost definitely Centipede…however whose to say that Centipede isn't a front for Hydra? If its Hydra, then it would fall into place of Skye being Jessica Drew.
