Nope. Dksanji's right for the most part, but it won't get any better by EL. One Piece is simply not an anime that appeals to the western audience and some part of that has to do with Toei itself.
People already feel off about Oda's style and that coupled with Toei's poor adaptation of the series, it's no wonder this is the response it's recieving. Granted W7/EL are some of Toei's better handled arcs, but even then it won't be enough to draw in the average American casual viewer.
We put up with Toei's bs because we watch OP to see our favorite manga moments animated. We're already huge fans of the story so we just deal with it better. A casual Toonami viewer isn't gonna be so patient, they're gonna judge it based on first impression and appearance alone and then personally swear to never to touch the series again because it's so unorthodox and drastically different from your typical generic anime that it literally scared them away. And let's just face it, the anime doesn't do One Piece justice, especially not these days. Not talking about the music or voices or any of that, mainly just the direction and animation.
But it doesn't stop there, let's couple Toei's poor adaptation of the series with people's inability to become invested in anything that promotes comedy more than excessive drama and violence and what you end up getting is exactly our situation right here. If the anime doesn't display flashy battles, tragic themes, and more than half the cast doesn't dramatically and silently self-reflect on their life and moral standards for 5 episodes straight, then chances are it probably won't appeal to your average American anime viewer.
Without all that "deep" and "dark" shit in their animus they won't be able to feel "mature" when they watch their Nerutos and their Bleaches and their Shingekis. Not saying all that stuff makes bad anime, but it does seem to attract the most insufferable types of people.
In short, Toonami's audience is mostly comprised of broody action junkies that can't keep an open mind to save their goddamn lives. And not only that, but many anime fans have devolved into FLASHY action junkies, so now if their mindless violence doesn't look flawlessly gorgeous at the same time then it's somehow not worthy of their viewership.
That's why the AoT and HxH fandoms blew up after they got new anime adaptations and are now overflowing with overhyping tards, just saying. Not bashing those series at all, but like I said before it seems to attract the most insufferable types of people.
