I'm satisfied with KFC size,i wouldn't have bought it if he was that big as i have not much space…
One Piece Collectibles v.10 Main Discussion - "Final Product ≠ Promo Pics"

Did anyone buy the DPCF Bon Clay? It looks fun, but I'm curious about the quality of the figure and how it will look with POPs…
-
Mine is on my way, but I'm really happy with the DPCF line. They are really big for POPs though.
-
Thanks for all the input, everyone! I've kind of come to a decision that I think is right for me. After reading everyone's experiences, I thought about myself and how my outlook has changed, how I used to think about figures and how I think now. I don't believe collecting figures is a massively expensive hobby (not compared to my clothing/bag/shoe habit anyway) but with the way I think now it's hard to add more to the collection without very heavily considering it first. With the idea that I will eventually (inevitably) want to resell and the work it involves, I get quite hesitant. However, according to MFC I have over 1,000 things and that's not even counting my hundreds of plushies. Or artbooks for that matter.
Too much, too much! LOL I can't move housing like this, I won't do that to my poor boyfriend again.
I think I will draw the line at one cabinet full (not including the Ace shrine), and call it a day.
When I look at my collection, I really want most of what is on display. But when I unbox things, I really want some of that, too! It's just out of sight, out of mind and I forget. We'll see where I end up.
That POP Franky certainly looks nice with the crew! Congrats to whoever did purchase him, I'm still holding off though (of course). And to who posted it, that Monet styling does look nice next to the FAZ CC!

I'm still waiting for my Franky, it was sent with EMS but the track still says:! | 08/12/2013 20:51 | Posting/Collection | | MATSUYAMANISHI | EHIME |

|Plus on friday I'll grab Jinbe and Arlong from a friend, then I'll just have to wait for Crocodile 1.5 to complete Shichibukai. I'm also still thinking about preordering Lucci MAS, it's a cool figure and 1up offers a great deal, but I don't want to skip on Vivi if she's next on preorder.

Maggie:I think the most important in collecting is enjoying what you buy, if there is doubt and stuff better move on to something else.

Yeah, Vivi should be going up for PO in 3 weeks. Shipping is likely to be cheap, so looking to shop around on this one since GLS promotion is only really worth while when the figure is big/heavy. May try Kolektakon this time around if the price is right.
I removed DD from his position behind the strawhats yesterday in preparation for Franky's arrival. No idea where to put him though….........I kinda have a shelf with BB, Shiliew, Sadie, Doflamingo, Crocodile & Beckman now. Looks a bit messy so trying to find some "thread" between them (DD pun intended).
Maybe will make that my ID shelf and put Jinbei, Croc, BB, Shiliew & Sadie on it.
Then Beckman can go on WB War shelf with WB Pirates and Shanks when he arrives.
That leaves me with Hancock...........can probably stick her with Rayleigh & Law on Sabaody shelf since they both visited her on Amazon Lily.
It's coming together..........................slowly.................
-
Why not go for a Shichibukai display, kanji? You seem to own them all (including both former and current). Regarding the other figures, you could display them together randomly for the time being until figures like Magellan and Hannyabal get announced.
-
-
Here is the picture:
Nice even if I imaginated it a lot bigger and particular
I've made some thoughts and I will be able to pay for both Lucci and Vivi, but… what if they put on preorder even Crocodile or an unexpected Karl reprint? XD

Yeah, Croc repaint should be going up alongside Vivi since they're both slated for January release. They seem to be keen on putting these related characters together. Like DD and Law, Lucci & Kalifa, etc.

Too many related characters to just put Shichibukai together. Need to break them up. Shiliew needs to be with BB, Perona needs to be with Moria.
Sadly I can't fit 10+ figures on one shelf, I would if I could….........Really need to get rid of my computer desk and get a new wider bookcase for all my figs.
I did have a Shichibukai shelf at one point though:

http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u480/kanji_xiii/shi.jpgYeah, that makes sense then. Limited space always sucks if you're a figure collector.
On a different note; since I'm seeing it right now, is your DD figure leaning forward? I've heard a few stories concerning that particular problem and frankly, that's the only reason I haven't ordered him yet…

Interesting story about DD, which I wasn't going to share, but since you mention it…....yes, my Doflamingo has always had a lean. Not forward, but to the left. Personally I think his legs are 2 close together and his left leg should be spread out further so to evenly distribute the weight and give him a better center of gravity.
Viewing that video review which shows how he should be correctly placed on the base made no difference, I already had it correct.
Anyway, to resolve this, I placed some blu-tac under his left foot. Worked perfectly, until I decided to remove it yesterday to remind myself how bad his lean was......................big mistake.................SNAP...............

Ouch! Sorry to hear that, buddy. Is it still possible for the figure to somehow stand at least?
But also thanks for sharing the story since now I won't be getting DD for another while, if at all. -
Ouch! Sorry to hear that, buddy. Is it still possible for the figure to somehow stand at least?
But also thanks for sharing the story since now I won't be getting DD for another while, if at all.Yeah, the clear peg for his right foot has broken off clean inside. No chance of getting it out, although luckily it is not the base of the peg, so there is still some stability. He won't stand at all now without the blu-tac, but to be honest, his lean was so bad, I wouldn't have posed him without it anyway. It had even got worse over time, to the point where the peg just couldn't support the weight anymore. Really poor design imho.
Atleast he's ok now though…...................

Since we're on that particular topic right now- does anyone know of any other figures who have such display problems? I'm slowly getting back into the figure business but this time I'm buying only carefully chosen figures, and knowing about any problems concerning the POP line beforehand will be beneficial.
-
Leans are easy to avoid; just put your figure in the freezer for 10-15 minutes every few months in order to keep the PVC chemical bonds strong, and of course try to keep the temperature in your display room as cool as is comfortably possible.

That's my problem. My figures are in an insulated attic space so temperatures in there can easily reach in excess of 30 °C / 86 °F. And bringing 40 POP's up and down the loft ladder ever month to freeze would probably be more dangerous than just leaving them as they are, lol.
I try not to move my figures too much in extreme temperatures, i.e. Summer/Winter, but this was an exception since Franky could arrive any day now and I need space for him, hehe!!

I haven't had any other problems with my POP's. They all stand very well on their bases.
Only other figure I've had problems with was my Medicom Toy RAH Son Goku, who developed the plastic cracking issue due to the heat which a lot of other people seemed to experience. I was really gutted about that, but couldn't be helped.

Also, another awesome display of the strawhats with Franky (Still not mine sadly)

That Kuzan is just great. Maybe he'll be my first adult grandline figure.
-
Loving that kuzan! Whoever gets it better take pictures when it arrives!!
-
Oh man, look at all the nice stuff, excellent.
-
One Piece overload!
!
I'll crack everything open tomorrow, not in the mood, to tired tonight.
Need to put my master organizational skillz to work and find a spot for Franky.
I did some quick measurements and he is bigger then Moria's box. He is only .5 inch shorter but the rest is larger.
-
Tonight I went out for a beer with a friend and I came back with 3 new POPs: Jinbe, Arlong and Law SA. This guy decided to sell his whole collection and I took this 3 for a really good price, but on the other hand my Franky is "in customs" in Italy, I really hope I won't be charge with taxes or I'll have to redo all my plans for the next POPs.
Funny fact: while I was carrying POPs in the parking from his car to mine we were stopped by the police, they asked for opening the boxes but I didn't let them. XD -

Cheers,

So been on my jollies for a week, did I miss anything new/awesome while I was gone? Judging by the most recent posts it still seems to be all about Franky so I guess no.

Yeah, nothing new. A discussion about selling figs and everything about Franky. Don't remember anything else.
-
Yup…...........all quiet on the western front...........and the eastern front it would seem.............
All about Franky at the moment, and then Shanks & C3 x Hobby in 2 weeks time!!!
Can not wait!!

Is there any chance of seeing new prototypes? Or are these reserved for the big events (of which the next should be coming up <insert month="">)?</insert>

As you know, I'm only up to speed with the POP stuff, so cannot comment on Bandai/Banpresto announcements, but from experience if we see anything new at Chara Hobby it'll only be painted prototypes, nothing entirely new.
So expect to see either painted Luffy Z-Edition, NEO-DX Sengoku or MAS Chopper "Horn Point" in 2 weeks time!! All 3 if we're really lucky, but probably just one of two….............
Next big event after this is Miyazawa in early November...........followed by the next Megahobby.
-
Feels like it's been ages since we saw Banpresto and Bandai show anything new. Although in the latter case they can show whatever they want and do the opposite.

Well I think we've got the 33rd Banpresto Prize fair coming up next month…....but don't hold me to that.
-
Bandai. They seem to always show something new only in the Tamashii Nation event which is once a year and the prototypes always take thousand years to be released or are either cancelled, or either we don't know nothing for a long time, or some get remade (Chibi-Arts Chopper?)?
This is probably the worst thing about them. And no, don't come up with the quality thing.
-
We have seen everything from Banpresto till December, so I guess we may see whatever for Jan. soon.
-
My Franky arrived at my moms(no more room here!) today. Won't see him until December during my visit. sadpanda

Good, I've ordered it from NY. Let's hope it will arrive soon an without additional costs. :S

Wow, that's a long time. I don't have room anymore but I just can't stop buying, I still have 14 POP in the box and I'm waiting for Franky and Shanks.

Oh yeah Chibi-Arts Chopper should be out in the next week or two. Not really bothered about him (Nami, Hancock and Perhona have been stored away) but I'll pick him up in the hope that Bandai get Robin out before the end of the year.
I'm an idiot.
We all know if we get another Chibi-Arts OP figure it won't be any of the ones already announced and instead will be a certain someone else.
-
They should release Chibi Vivi now that the new POP is coming but we'll have Chibi Ace with new faces. xD
Anyway, here are some video reviews from engelleader. One is Franky SA and the other is Nami from Ichiban Kuji Strong Girls Vol.2. Geez, that Nami is truly superb!

I have a question for those of you on here that sold most of your collection but still pick up the odd collectible (you know who you are! XD): do you miss the figures you sold/old collection? Regrets? Did it feel good/freeing?
I've been toying with the idea for a while (I've sold a few here and there) and I was just looking up prices, and for some things I was thinking, "sure, good riddance!" but others I was very hesitant about, remembering how much I love that figure (though they are all packed away right now so how much love is it really?). I feel that it would be odd to just keep the few figures I honestly enjoy because it would be rather random, wouldn't it? Sogeking and Nami NEO, Hancock, Lucci 1.5 and Bon Clay next to SW Sanji? It started to paint a VERY odd picture in my brain…
Well I was in this situation and probably I'm still in.
And then stumbled upon this article:"Even in tough economic times, you may find yourself with a bit of cash to spare. You've been working hard, and you want to treat yourself. Should you spend it on an experience, such as a baseball game or concert, or a material object?
Psychological research suggests that, in the long run, experiences make people happier than possessions.
That's in part because the initial joy of acquiring a new object, such as a new car, fades over time as people become accustomed to seeing it every day, experts said. Experiences, on the other hand, continue to provide happiness through memories long after the event occurred.

The same thing happens to new phone, shoes, car, everything we possess.
Just for thought. -

I really want that Nami now. That belt really makes her look cool and she looks more complete with the climatact.

Just for thought.I'll agree to an extent. I still have figures that I love even after having them for a while and even during a big figure purge. Ones that I literally just can't get rid of and still enjoy even after having them for a few years, for example POP Kizaru, GSC Homura etc. For me it really has just come down to picking and collecting favourites.

This video of that IK Nami is even better. And she was sculpted by Saito Heel, the one who sculpted the tournament champion Scultures Wiper.

Yeah I could agree with you. But I think the more figures we have, the less appreciation we'll have to each figure individually.
I still remember vividly my enjoyment of having POP Neo Shanks as my first and only POP for quite some time.
Or the feeling when I unboxed DX Brotherhood Luffy and Ace set.
Now they're kept in the box along with the others, sadly. :pIt's about the experience. :)
