I haven't been following these games at al, have they added anything to make training a viable multiplayer team less of a grind?
Pokemon X & Y

They added something for EV training.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Apparently, according to the japanese version of the official Pokemon site, only one Pokemon per battle can Megaevolve. With that, it seems much more balanced.

Grinding as in what losing 15-30 mins killing 20/30 pokemon? not that much of a grind nowadays but yes there is a Super training thing now, I'm assuming you are talking about Evs.

Meh I though not being able to use items was detriment enough, I guess this things are beasts.

The anime really put me off Pikachu. That said, I miss the odd, chubby Pikachu sprite from the first games.
!

You know. I was kinda too pissed off with Mega Pokemon for a a while to not notice the new bunny pokemon,
It's barely cute, but it's still a bunny. Like Oshawott, it would probally win my heart sooner or later. -
It's too derpy. It got nothing on Buneary and it's awkwardly feminine evolution, Lopunny.

Hehehe
I've actually mentioned that in Serebii, it pisses me off that migth actually be possibly, Pikachu is already better than Raichu because of the freaking light stone, it annoys me so much that they take a crap on Raichu like this all the time.
In the anime, they always love to show how Raichu is inferior to Pikachu every time the thing appears.
And me I love Raichu :(
Speaking of first gen favourites, hoping for Mega Primeape.
I love Raichu too, he's the only reason i bother to raise a Pikachu
I actually admit I'm kind of peeveed Blaziken got a mega evolution. You know, because the thing wasn't a beast of legendary proportions already. If Pikachu got one as well just because of popularity, I'd be annoyed too.
They should give one to pokemon that probably won't get evolutions but could use a boost. Like Tropius and Kangaskhan.
Mega kangaskan, one word …serious?
Ah, there you go. Even though it is REALLY lazy how they did it.
And you know, if every fully evolved pokemon gets a mega form… does that include the Eeveelutions? Because if it does, i sooo wanna see MegaJolteon
-
" Its ability is parental bond, which allows it to attack twice in the same turn." That sounds like a pretty useful ability. Makes sense, Kanghaskhan being the parent pokemon and all. Really couldn't see them doing anything better with that baby.
-
Mega kangaskan, one word …serious?
That's actually genius.
Way better than simply making the baby another useless prevo.
-
-
So it's not really Cubone?
-
@Cyan:
So it's not really Cubone?
I suppose we won't know until the mother dies and if the baby takes her skull to wear on his head.
-
is that confirmed for legit?
because if so, then that's one of the best ideas I've seen in a long time. allowing attacks to hit twice is a godlike ability, too.
-

Yeah. It was announced at the opening ceremony of the VGC championships by Junichi Masuda
-
This is… awesome.

Not every evolved Pokemon will get one. Unless you think they really created 300+ MegaStones, new models, stats, etc.
Plus, if everyone becomes a superhero, nobody will be a superhero. -
Nice seems cool just one thing is it me or it just looks like normal Kanghaskhan.
Finally the kid is out, damn the kid is a cutie :D, now Gamefreak just give the kid a name and make it a pre evo.
Kinda lazy or no design change at all meh but seems a lot more usable :D, seems like more of this pokemon that almost seem to big to evolve or something may get a mega, I hope something like Pinsir or Snorlax can get one.
-
…they're RELEASING a special TORCHIC with the special MEGA EVOLUTION ITEM for FREE distributed from the GAME RELEASE DATE?
GIMME.
...I appear to have caught Crockeritis.
Though I do think they should have let you take your pick of any third gen starter. -
I want my mega sceptile… and he better be good.
-
Take this with a grain of salt as usual but people say its really Hirobyte
He says a lot of Pokemon INCLUDING SCIZOR will get mega evolutions, only fully evolve/standalone pokemon get them
Voy a ser bueno y os digo que Scizor es otro de los Pokémon que tendrá Megaevolución. Aunque ya os he dicho que serán muchos los Pokémon que la tenga.
I really hope they give them to weak pokemon not just strong, Absol,Mawile, Khangaskhan got it so I hope other not that usable pokemon get it also.
17 and 18 is the japanese event so I'm expecting Masuda to reveal some more Megas/new pokemon next saturday.
¿Seguís pensando que sólo tendrán Megaevolución unos 20 Pokémon? xD
Another one for those who don't know Spanish is being sarcastic saying so you guys think only about 20 pokemon get Mega evolutions? like no way a lot more are getting them.
Thats going to be hard to choose with so many and only be able to use one, maybe we have some kind of mega battles where we can use a team of them.
–---
Someone impersonated him in Pokejungle two weeks go so like I said doesn't mean this is true.
-
Actually, according the serebii, new details suggest you can only use one mega evolved poke in battle

Video of Kangaskhan

I don't like how the mother still looks the same.
-
Okay! Since this Mega thing is only available in battle, I don't mind it anymore. I still want to know how it evolves like that, but it's sounding pretty cool now. The battles are going to be more exciting and there's more ways to train your Pokemon. I'm really liking that :3
Also, Mega Kangaskhan is perfect.

Its already been explained, each pokemon that has that mega forme gets a mega stone that lets them evolve in battle.

1 for both teams or for 1 for the rest of the battle?

I know that but do you give it to it while in battle or as a hold item? Can it evolve whenever you want or does the HP have to be low? Stuff like that xD So basically, does it have to reach requirements before it can evolve?
(This is probably a really stupid question) -
My favorite pokémon episode is still the one where Pikachu refuses to evolve and everyone accepts it and moves on. It teaches kids that you can just blatantly refuse to grow up and it's okay.
The lesson there actually was, that don't force evolve your pokemon before they learn all their moves in that form. Surge went straight for pure strength, sacrificing agility and whatever the hell else Pikachu learns that it can't after becoming Raichu.
It wasn't so much a "never grow up" lesson as much as it was a "don't have sex till you're ready" lesson.

eh? ofc its one for each team, they wouldn't let just one trainer use a Mega pokemon.

(This is probably a really stupid question)That has also been explained, its an hold item and when you get in battle the pokemon evolve if its holding it but apparently there are other requirements, there is that Mastery Tower in the new Gym leader town related to Mega evolutions so I kinda think we might have to do some kinda of "trial" to unlock the pokemon hidden potential and let it use the stone to evolve, atleast that how I see this extra requirements working.
Basicly mastery tower is where you master the mega evolution.

Yea that's what I meant, if there was anything else lol but thanks! I hope it isn't that easy to evolve them.

Still no baby Lapras? :(

Guys anyone interested in seeing the Pokemon World tournaments its on rigth now
Stream rigth now

What's with people asking for prevos and "proper" evolutions?
Gen IV had that and look how it turned out!
-
List of pokemon I think should/could get mega evos:
Dunsparce
Shuckle
Sableye
Farfetch'd
Tauros
Heracross
Pinsr
Delibird
Ludicolo
Zangoose
Relicanth
Pachirisu
Rotom -

You see Gen V with 155(?) new monsters, not one related to pass gens. Suddenly we have a plethora of possibilities of new pokemons in our hands.
Gen VI can be the gen II/IV of gen V.
-
Wasn't a Dex entry of Machamp something along the lines that its belt holds back its true powers?
So it should have a Mega Evolution -

RotomFarfetch'd probably won't get an evo. It's entire point is that it sucks.
If it does get one, it will probably be a joke evo.
Also, Ludicolo, but no Shiftry? Zangoose, but no Seviper? Tauros, but no Miltank? What about poor Banette? And Jynx? Give the counterparts equal treatment, GameFreak!
And Rotom, seriously? The thing already has 5 different forms.
Also, Qwilfish.

They're full of shit.

They overdid it but yes I want pre evos for logic sake, Kangakhan baby is clearly diferent from the mother, it shoudl have a baby stage.
Lapras is huge, Tropius is huge and yes proper evolutions for crappy pokemon are also good.
Giving evos to some currently pretty crappy pokemon to make the useful is good, we can only use a mega at a time.
Some of you guys just look at gameplay but some of us play pokemon because we like to colect them and evolve them, etc not just battles.

Many people don't like the way some evolutions look. 80% of the Gen IV evos were badly received.
Mega evos allow you the option to give a Pokémon you like the chance to be useful in battle without having to permanently change its appearance. It's a welcome feature. Of course, you can't have more than 1 Mega Pokémon at a time, but that's for the sake of balance.

Not really, I don't see any bashing for those pokemon the problem was there were too many, half the dex was legendaries and pre evos and evos, that is people problem.
Yes and thats why pokemon that are bad rigth now could get a boost, because like I said you can't use more than one mega and if you want 2 or 3 pokemon to get boosted and can only use one of those, that is a problem, so its legitimate that people still wish some pokemon get evolutions even if that evolutions gets a Mega evolution after.
Imagine I want to use Sableye and Mawile but both of are only usefull in their mega formes(not true for Sableye), I know I can use something else but if I do want to use both of them given one of them an evolution and make it better so its still usable without the mega stage is great.
I'm perfectly fine with mega pokemon but Pokemon like Absol and Mawile maybe deserved an actual evolution.
-

I dunno about that, actual. I mean Kanghaskhans whole 'thing' is it being the parent pokemon. Meaning it carries it's child around with it, goes all mama bear if anyone comes near it, and like that mega form gives it, has a parental bond. I think Gamefreak already did the best possible thing with Kanghaskhan by doing that. Instead of making it like every other 'mon with a useless pre-evo that's really the same thing.
-

This, besides, only genwunners really went mad over gen IV, it was overall a good gen. Pokémon is all about evolution and changing. If there's somebody who really don't want their pokémon to evolve and permanently change, this person really don't like pokémon and shouldn't ever play it to begin with.
-
This is really surreal to me.
I leave for a week and all of Pokemon has changed.
-

Um, no.
I admit, part of the only bits I like from Gen IV are the evolutions, since stuff like Glaceon, Weavile and Gallade are all among my favorites. But for the most part the generation was disappointing. Of course, it wasn't factually awful, but I have reasons to maintain the opinion it was (at least when talking about pokemon designs)
Lots of the evolutions, although powerful now, are tremendous cop-outs when it comes to design. Tangrowth, for example, is a tremendously lazy design. A pokemon with his face covered in vines? You could do so much with that, but instead they just added more vines. It's lazy. Similar arguments could be made for Lickylicky and Magnezone. Now, your other argument is that people have to like evolution to like pokemon. Disagree on that too. Yes, it's an essential part of Pokemon, but far from being obligatory, especially now with Eviolite being a thing. For example, I love Dewott and think Samurott is a weird-ass horse thing, so I just don't evolve him. Why? Because I can. Same with stuff like Magneton. If I want to have a team that doesn't evolve into stuff that looks like crap to me, I'm very well able to do so.
What I'm trying to say here is that if people disagree with evolutions or megaevolutions or what have you, they're allowed to that disagreement. Doesn't mean they love the games any less than you do, and it certainly doesn't mean they shouldn't even play them.

That actually comes from one of Machoke's Pokedex entries not Machamp not to mention the fact that dex entries are seldom consistent. Another one of Machoke's dex entries mentions it always fights at full strength.

Here is a bunch of pictures of the megas from the closing ceremony of the Pokemon world championships, courtesy of Marriland
I'm really liking Mawile :D it looks pretty damn awesome, hopefully this trailer gets uploaded to the official website along with the Megas official art.
Edit: Websie has update
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW so innocent bites your head off apparenlty Mawile gets a defense and special defense boost, with steel and fairy, I'm guessing its going to be an awesome wall.
