How much has the anime actually covered so far?
Sket Dance.

Could someone hit the Aohige signal and see how far we are from the Yakuza arc?
Yakuza arc is 230-232. I dunno where translations are right now.
The most recent chapter is 238.Here's something…
WARNING spoiler image inside, from ch 232! >!
! WHY WON'T YOU JUST… JUST...... ARGG
Bossun why must you cockblock us, just do it!! -
Thanks, Aohige.
Translations are still at around Chapter 200. But they're great quality, so hard to complain.
-
That was so worth waiting for.
-
How much has the anime actually covered so far?
I believe that the anime has already covered every Sket-dan flashback and is soon entering the school trip arc, so around 100 chapters or something.
Edit: I just checked it, and the latest episode (64) is already on the school trip arc, so this means the anime is already on chapter 136. Of course, it seems like they skipped some chapters and sometimes a single episode can contain 2 chapters.
-
I wonder if the scans will ever catch up. The gap isn't as big as it was when I first started reading the series but it's still a good bit behind
-
Right now they are in 39 and since I've started reading it, it hasn't changed much, I think that it was on 44 around a year ago.
-
Considering there's around 49 issues of WSJ published every year, it's little less than a year behind.
With double issues in mind, probably right around 10 month of material. -
201 is out, that was "fast"
http://trinitybakuma.com/manga/?manga=Sket+Dance&chapter=201#page=1That part with Switch, Roman and Cherry is gold.
-
Switch is such a troll.
-
This chapter was absolute gold.
-
Brought in Roman and Cherry at the same time.
Trolling on a godlike scale.
-
todays episode was just lol however they completely skipped the video game chapter and had it just mentioned
-

This is fantastic news. I always thought the arc would be the finale of the series but guess not. That's even better. We get more Sket Dance :D
-
Interesting.
And I assume the ending arc of Sket Dance will be graduation.
-
So I just watched Episodes 24 and 25 (or Switch's backstory) and
! Wow. Motherfucker. I haven't been this depressed watching a character's backstory since either Chopper's or Robin's. You guys weren't kidding about the flashbacks! These were both really amazing episodes. Seriously blew me out of the water. I feel like I see Switch in a whole new light. Can't wait to see how Himeko or Bossun's backstories top this one, and I am now officially a fan of this series

Well, the author said that Switch's episodes hold a key to the final arc, and will be done towards the end.
If he still plans to stick to these plans, the end of Sket Dance may not be far. -

If he still plans to stick to these plans, the end of Sket Dance may not be far.Sigh, I wish the series would take some risks and radically shake up the story a little. Have them graduate and reunite at college and set up Sket Dance there. Have Bossun and Himeko actually hook up and show their romantic relationship grow. It doesn't need to be awkward (well it would be a little during the honeymoon phase). They would still be the same, they just go on dates now and again. It would be a totally new world with new characters, new relationships, more mature protagonists. It would be awesome and I know the author has the gumption for it. But oh well.
-
Well, the story of the "original" Sket Dan episode kinda suggest it'll go that way.
Has that chapter been translated? The School Chairman and his two partners.
-
We've met them and know who they are if that's what you mean. The last chapter translated was 201, the hilarious gag chapter where Bossun and Himeko have a No Tsukkomi battle.

Not sure if I want that.

Yeah it has. Two so far. One where we find out he was in a simiar group, and one where he's picked up by his wife in a flying car at the end after telling all these crazy stories that end up being true.
-
The girls have pretty much established their feelings, especially after the recent arcs.
! such as the Valentines and Yakuza arcs
The two guys are the ones hesitent in submitting to romantic feelings.Bossun and Switch's resolve and closure to their feelings will probably be towards the very end of the series, and maybe a small epilogue afterwards.
I don't expect a full blown one like what TLC is suggesting. -
Nah, see I kinda hate that. It's so annoying when mangaka drag out relationships for forced drama until the very end to make some sort of climax. When the most interesting part is what happens AFTER they hook up. Not that I'm saying that Sket Dance's author is doing this. It's not being forced in our faces every chapter. It's a minor part of the story that is slowly progressed every few tens or twenties of chapters or so. And I like that. It's not making it a big deal, love is just a small part of life. But I don't like that the actual hooking up is left as a climax. Just get them together and show their relationship grow from there. That's interesting and innovative. They don't have to act lovey dovey all the time, they can just act how they usually do. They sometimes kiss, sometimes go on dates but still act more or less as the same people. It's not some big earth shattering deal that must be saved for a grand finale. They're just a couple. I wanna see them just start dating because it feels natural to them and that's more realistic than some grand confession on the school roof in front of the setting sun as an epic climax.

Orihime's isn't quite as dramatic, though it's still good.
Bossun's, in my opinion, is quite a bit better.

New chapter ho: http://trinitybakuma.com/manga/?manga=Sket+Dance&chapter=202#page=1 Not a great chapter by itself, but looks like we're heading for a nice heart-warmer for the next one.
-
I'm glad we are getting more into Usami, she always seemed to me a character with some potential.
-
Not to mention that chapter where they were actually making the school song was probably one of the most hilarious Sket chapters I've ever read. It still cracks me up every time. I love that Kiri has the role of the Okinawa railbird.
-
Finally some new Sket Dance: http://trinitybakuma.com/manga/?manga=Sket+Dance&chapter=203#page=1
-
Now I want to read the original chapter of the school song, any of you remember wich one was it?
-
No…
"Is this alright principal?" "Why not? Wahaha". This made me laugh, I dunno why.
So next arc will be the seniors graduation?Edit: Oh, I didn't noticed that we got 2 chapters.
-
Out of the kindness of my tiny heart, I just looked through a few dozen chapters for the class song chapter: http://www.mangahere.com/manga/sket_dance/c151/

From the bottom of my dark heart, thankyou.

Anyone have a link to Ozawa from Speedwagon? The link the chapter provided isn't working.
-
I could've sworn Agata graduated already, since Tsubaki became the student council president and Kato joined. How is he graduating again…? Did I just not notice that we're in a flashback right now?
-
Oh man…the next few chapters are gonna be fantastic. The conversion of Kamei Academy from a suppressive environment bound by rules to the free place that permits the existence of the goofballs we know today?
Color me really excited.

He graduated but the graduation ceremony didn't take place till now. Same way I've graduated from University but the graduation ceremony won't take place till December.
-
Latest chapter reminded me a button of One Piece. Mostly that one panel of Tsubaki. It was touching. But also so cliche it made me cringe. But also touching. It was a weird emotional conflict there. lol

Yeah, had a similar reaction. Played it too straight for Sket Dance.

Ah so that's what happened ^_^;

I wish I could get my hand on some of the raws. Agata is always one of the characters that amuses me the most.
-
^He's not in it that much in the later chapters tho.
-

Well sadly kind of expected considering he is graduating, but at the very least I can look forward to next chapter.
Also it's good that sket dance has various facettes as a series to enjoy anyway. I think the only chapters that I don't really care for are the ones that become geeky in really weird ways, like the ones with the teacher that always has this super weird games. -
Switch On is up to the 4th chapter now, but it's like finally past the introduction part… feels like the story finally is starting.
I have a feeling this is going to be a long arc... I don't remember, but how many chapters were Switch Off, Ogress, and Bossun's?
I vaguely recall Switch Off only being about half a volume long or less.I really need to get the entire tankoubon set sometime.
-
Switch Off was three chapters, Ogress was 6 and Happy Birthday+Rebirthday were 9.
-
Ah, then at this pace, Switch On should be as long as Birthday/Rebirth or longer.
-
I'm too lazy to go to a manga reading site or something like that, but iirc Switch Off is only 3 chapters or so, Ogress takes 6 chapters, and Bossun's arc (as I'm counting both Happy Birthday and Happy Rebirthday) is about 11-12 chapters, pretty much a whole volume on its own. Considering the gravity of Switch's situation, I do expect quite a number of chapters dedicated for his story, yeah.
-
After looking back at some previous chapters, it's a bit amazing how much development of the main storyline we've had over the last few years, especially considering Sket Dance is a gag manga. Hope the current flashback is more a mark of a halfway point than an approaching conclusion (we've still got the whole third year of high school to go!), but at this point, most of the major storylines are wrapped up or at a happy stability.
-
Sket Dance really is, hands down, one of my favorite manga.

Yeah, in terms of those currently running, it's my second fave.
