I need to catch up on the manga, though.

face it, eyeshield is going to end in a 3 matches.
there's no way it can continue without hiruma.
I agree with you to an extent, yes Hiruma may be the best at the moment, but remember, once he goes into year 3, more first years will be coming in, maybe there will be someone to repace him, Yuki and Kurita.
I think my biggest problem in continuing beyond the Christmas Bowl is the consistancy factor. While it is obvious they can continue and show the further development of Deimon and their rivals, I think the whole point of the series was "gather a ragtag team of weirdos and turn them into a winning football team". I think the best idea towards the direction the series can go in depends on Deimon's final result in the Christmas Bowl. If they do win, then there will be nothing more to write: Deimon would have proved themselves, more people would want to join the team come next spring to keep the title, and the series could easily turn into another generic sports manga. On the other hand, if Deimon loses after getting close to completing their dream, then maybe I could see the manga taking a new direction: trying to stick together and figure out the keys needed to win in an ever-evolving game where new players and techniques are always coming and going. (I say "stick together" since I remember Hiruma pretty much wants to blow the whole team up after he and Kurita are done…though I doubt Sena and the others would want them to do that later on)
that losing the last game thing sounds kind of like slam dunk but without the abrupt ending
Just a note, Saizen have released Episode 43, it's the Soccer Shoot Off episode with Musashi.
Eyeshield21 is…PWNAGE! I am up to chapter 118, it is so freaking badass! And Hiruma...awesoneness!

As a player, Hiruma is replaceable, but not as a character. Anyone else will be a pale imitation or rip-off if they try and act like him, or leave us unsatisfied.
It would be an incredible coup to fill the gap they'd leave in the story without a crummy deus-ex-machina.
However, if JP schools are like US schools, I could very well see Hiruma flunking his second year and coming back, just because I doubt he's particularly interested in learning.
ummmm wasn't it said somewhere that Hiruma was one of the big 3 (along with Mamori and Yuki) though personally, I could see him forcing the head teacher into allowing them to play for longer.
I don't want the series to end yet T_T
I'm of the opinion that Hiruma won't follow a rule that doesn't suit him, even though it's a school rule. He's not the type to give up, and he likes football too much. Even if they ends up a loser at Christmas Bowl, considering that Deimon is such a young team of ragtags and the Iinagaki/Murata team doesn't mind them losing a game or three, Hiruma will find a way for his team to play again i.e. blackmail the principal, sic his mafia friends on him, etc.
I know that Christmas Bowl is their goal and all, but what if there's a bigger event outside High-school football? It's time they get rid of Satake and Yamaoka, after all, and truly go for a dream team.
I need a bit help with the Ps2 game, please! ( mostly from those who play the Ps2 game )
In chapter X, in the last mission with Ootawara vs. Kid ( im Ootawara and his linemens ) i have to sack Kid but the problem is that when i get past the linemen another extra player blocks my way to Kid.
It's really hard because Kid mostly throws or use his special 6-4 seconds to time-out. ( meaning i had like 4 seconds to sack him which is impossible )
Is there any way to make it in time to sack him or a metod to make Kid fall before throwing?
Ps. I could have asked this in gamefaqs but im not a member there and it seems that no one posts there anymore. ( too bad that the old posts are gone. )
Do you ever think F-ing Baldie will ever play for them? He owns, it was so sad when he wasn't alolowed to play :(
Ummm, Yukimitsu is playing in the game at the moment
Eyeshield ch.182, enjoy:

PS. it's not from Ritual Scan D:…
darn! You beat me in posting it! But thanks anyways lol
This is totally random, but I was checking out the spread in chapter 73 (The one where you're supposed to find all the characters), and I noticed something VERY interesting…

Look familiar?
OMG the one with the white pants is Shikamaru from Naruto!
:P
kiddin'
As a player, Hiruma is replaceable, but not as a character.
….

Uh, Hiruma is an incredibly valuable player. He's pretty much a genius as a quarterback, and I can't really see there being any character for Deimon being as much as a tactical genius as him.
Hiruma also has very high test scores. I would imagine it more likely that he bullies the principal into allowing third years to play. Then again, this would throw away some of the significance of this Christmas Bowl..

I meant in the abstract sense, someone with the technical skill could exist. A young Joe Montana could walk into the training room and potentially fill Hiruma's shoes as quarterback. But there's no way to fill his shoes as a character– his trickery and black dealings would just look "cheap ripoff" if any other character tried to replace them.

…unless it's his LITTLE BROTHER!!!!
Lol :P
Still, almost everything personal about Hiruma is unknown (even his date of birth/bloodtype)so it may happen.
Ever since the call from his dad, i always think of him as a Takamura from Hajime no Ippo. (because he probably was rejected from his family )
@JEECE:
stoptazmo has chap 1 to 53 in engl.
http://stoptazmo.com/eyeshield21/
and there's chap 41 to 70 in jap here

How many ES21 chapters are there at the moment?
182 chapters in raw.
124, 168-181 from F-M
What? Where's 168-181 by F-M?
I don't see it on any of their bot listings.
Holy Crap! They are releasing Eyeshield 21 trading cards! And Konami are making em, they look so cool.
It would probably be a pretty good game too, wonder how they will get around the Football bit.
Im also interested in the TGC, since im also a TGC player.
I looked a bit of the rules and it's looks a bit interesting, so far i have only seen 3 different booster sets.
Even the mangaka made a Seibu deck with Kid =)!
I want to see pictures of the cards, thats what i always like to do with card, looking at it. (wonder if there is a site where you can watch pictures of the cards )
Ps. The TGC is not like the card game from PS2. :P
Yea, I seen a couple of pics of the cards, they are mainly ones like:
Ha Ha Brothers,
Sena,
Shin
and then things like:
Juvenile Delinquent Murder Method,
Devil Bat Ghost
and so on.

168-181 are MQ releases done by Anonymous Spore. http://mangahelpers.com/forum/index.php?board=122.0
I found a French version of 182 (not in English yet) and I used what little French I remember to make a summary.
Title: Hiruma vs. The Legendary Brothers
Basically, Hiruma says they're going to do another onside kick. Shinryuuji gets cautious and moves up, but when the play starts Deimon gets back into the normal formation and Musashi punts all the way to the other side of the field.
Agon gets the ball, and Shinryuuji remembers "Shishi hakuto" and block Deimon.
Hiruma tells Sena to blitz Agon with the speed of light. Sena gets up to the line. As soon as the ball snaps, Agon immediately sees that they're going to Blitz him, and gets ready. It ends with Sena dashing toward him.
"Looks like no matter what the outcome is, you'll always want to duel against me!"
"I need to go there, the light speed's limit blitz!"
Agon says something that I can't translate.
Woah, thanks for the translation dude. Looks like the next chapters gonna be pretty amazing again.
Well, I finally decided to give this a shot for Jango here. I'm on episode 5 and it was alot more interesting then I thought it would be, but I always had my suspections on that due to the fact its an anime.
I still don't like sports tho. : P
oh, and as I am now a watcher I can say this without being flamed.
YA HA!!
spore has released his 182 scanlation

Saizen have released it, you know where to get it right?

You should note that the in the anime, every time Hiruma says Damn this damn that, he is saying Fuckin' in the Manga.
The raw for the latest chapter is out.
The last two pages…. holy shit.
! From what I can tell, Sena keeps getting PUNK'D by Agon. The first time, Agon simply chops him and the Nagas gain 12 yards.
! The second time Sena makes an attempt, Agon knocks him behind him, but Sena remembers how Agon insulted Musashi/Kurita/Hiruma's dream of the Christmas bowl, gets pissed off, plants his foot and makes a dash at Agon from behind. Agon manages to dodge Sena and pass the ball for a 4 yard gain. Agon has a more serious look on his face, instead of the cocky/pissed off thing, maybe he's worried or concerned.
! Next play, Unsui hands the ball off to Sanzo (the effeminine player, based off of the priest from Journey to the West). As the line is at an apparent stalemate, Sanzo laughs and decides to do a lateral (backward) pass to Agon.
! I think there's some spiel about Agon's GOD IMPULSE REACTION or something. Basically, Sena blocks the pass and everyone's shocked, particularly Agon.

183rd Down: Instinct.
Note, this is translated, thanks to anonspore from LJ for the link.
HA! Take that Agon, jerk.
I hope Sena makes it out of this okay. At this rate he's going to snap a tendon.
I'm more worried about sanzo than sena….
Huh, I wonder what the chances are Sena will blow out a knee or something so that the series will run an extra year.
! I'm assuming that most people have read it by now, but on the chance that they haven't, this has been spoilerized.
! Anyway, I hope that everybody doesn't stand around shocked so long that nobody bothers to recover the fumble before it bounces out of bounds or some Naga thinks to fall on it.
The thing I'm the most worried about is Agon using his LOL GOD IMPULSE to snatch the ball. But since there's only 17 minutes left, I have to doubt that the authors would pull that…

God, I hope not. That Mary Sue sonuvabitch would probably turn it into a touchdown.
Saizen's released episode 45, hopefully you guys know where to get it now
Agon is excused from being Mary Sue, or whatever you call her male counterpart, because he's a villain and only stupid/slutty girls like him. Everyone else is rightfully annoyed by his behavior.
Agon pwns as a bad guy tho, I like him as that, not really too fond of him in general tho, not when we have better enemies such as Shin, Kid, Zokugaku etc
I want to see Agon be completely and totally crushed.
I guess that's what you call an effective villain.
shin isnt a better character. At least agon has a personality. Shin's character is so overdone. I liked it better when it saw it in rukawa. (not that this manga is that original to begin with but there are so many more interesting people than him)
@Cap'n:

I guess that's what you call an effective villain.
Dude, it's like OP's villains. The fact that they are so evil and frustratingly strong makes it all the sweeter when they are eventually crushed.
And I wouldn't ever call Shin a villain. He's an opponent. Really, only Agon so far can really be called a villain. All the other strong players the Devil Bats have gone against so far have been ones they respect as people. Well, maybe with the exception of the Amino Cyborgs, but who cares about them?
Well…Rui was evil to some extend...at the beginning, Rui was an ordinary early chapters bad guy and turned into an interessting and respectable character (and one pf my favorites).
I think Rui was like Buggy at the beginning...(and I hope Buggy will develope in a similair way Rui did)
Hmm, I have my doubts. Buggy seems more like a comedic villain Oda just doesn't have the heart to leave in obscurity.
That or the fact that he used to be Shanks' buddy will have a larger role in the future. (i.e: he'll know something abotu Shanks' past that a lot of people don't)
I hate how as soon as Rui began to blossom as a character, the Poseidons knock the Chameleons out of the tournament. That scene between him and Hiruma was heartbreaking for me.
As for villains, Shin is more of a rival. He's the mountain that the protagonist hopes to reach and conquer. Same with characters like Riku and Kid. I saw the Sphinx as kind of villains at first, because of how jerky they were (especially Harao and the little fatass), but they're just a rival team.
Apollo was the first real villain the series had, but when he was more fleshed out he turned out to be a decent guy (and one of the better developed characters in the series, imo). Agon is 100% villain, he pretty much has no redeeming quality. I really want to see him crushed, go down in flames; I almost want to see him cry, but I'm afraid that'll give him a chance to for an "omg tragic past" or for a turnabout in his character or something.
I've been wanting to post this for a while… but my predictions for the tournament.
Deimon will beat Shinryuuji in a massive upset, which seems kind of obvious, since the series can't really go on if they lose. The Gunmen and White Knights will win; I'm predicting the Dinosaurs for a definite win, because the authors' way of displaying a team's power is by having them destroy a team well established as powerful.
After a good game, Deimon will beat Oujou.
I want to say that Seibu will beat the Dinosaurs. BUT, the way that Marco has been introduced and repeatedly focused on makes me doubt it. Since his introduction, there's been an unusual amount of focus on him for a mere side character. But, Seibu is a well established and powerful rival for Deimon, with Hiruma, Sena, and Monta each having a direct and formidable opponent. However, Deimon has already had an all-out and good match against Seibu. But, it feels weird for the series' climax to be against a bunch of total strangers, one of who is obviously unsure of himself and overly cautious (Marco really reminds me of Hol Horse from JoJo). If the Dinosaurs don't beat Seibu, we'll get to watch them give Seibu a good match.
I really think the Semi-Finals can go either way.
As far as Shin goes, the important thing about him is that he wants competition at his own level so that he can develop himself as a player. So he encourages his opponents to try and reach his level rather than just airily dismissing them like Agon does.
Agon is excused from being Mary Sue, or whatever you call her male counterpart, because he's a villain and only stupid/slutty girls like him. Everyone else is rightfully annoyed by his behavior.
Larry Stu isn't it?
Anyway, Agon isn't a Mary Sue in the self-insertion or everybody loves them sense as villianous characters rarely are. On the other hand, his status as automatically better than everyone grants him the annoying status of a Mary Sue.
Hmm, I have my doubts. Buggy seems more like a comedic villain Oda just doesn't have the heart to leave in obscurity.
Buggy is pretty important as a direct opposite to Luffy; their Devil Fruits are mirror images of each other, he's experienced and knowledgable when it comes to piracy, and he'd already assembled a crew and began his career of piracy well before Luffy.
He'll probably always be a second banana as a rival to Luffy though; Teach and his crew are not only mirror images of the Straw Hats, but are likely to be equivalent, or at least close to them, in strength. Mohji and Cabaji are nowhere near as strong as the two and three spots of the Straw Hats.
