I need help reacting to this: my emotions went from happy to "oh" to "uh-oh:" Aisha Tyler will be the host.
I'm excited, but it can in no way be the same show without Drew.

Yes!! Yes!! Yes! Aisha Tyler is awesome on Archer, so she should be great on this. I hope Colin, and Ryan will be returning for this.
Well, I'm certainly happy to see that the show is coming back, but yeah, it won't be quite the same without Drew. I'll definitely be checking it out though.

Did you see her performance hosting Ubisoft's conference at E3 last year? She doesn't inspire much confidence.
I actually enjoyed the show much more when it was hosted by Clive Anderson so I'm rather indifferent to Drew Carey not being host.
Drew was the dead weight on the show anyway, he wasn't very funny and the skits he got in on usually weren't very good and were carried by the others. (The british version where Clive Anderson hosted was generally better, since he played the straight man. Also, it had Tony, Josie, Greg, Stephen, and Mike, as well as Ryan and Colin obviously, plus a ton of others… and rotated the group more.)
Long as it has Ryan and Colin, with the ocassionaly random other old caster its fine. (And the article says it does).
At the same time, it also shouldn't be Ryan, Colin, and Wayne EVERY episode again, that got tedious eventually... particularly since Wayne sat everything out and just came on to do music numbers... which he was great at granted, but the same three people EVERY time (and only two others rotating the last slot usually) got old. But it sounds like all three of them are going to be permanent with only one rotating member. That could get old.
Regardless, the show was as good as it was because the gang had years of practice, familiarity and chemistry together, and those three are all good at it... just.. .only one rotator? Hrm.
Also.

Every episode of both versions of the show. Skip the first season of the british, they didn't know what they were doing yet.
Fun fact. The ABC show only filmed FIVE seasons. But due to the way the show is made (where they do live rounds for two or three hours and then pick and choose the material for broadcast) they had enough footage to extend it to EIGHT seasons even after filming ended.
Yeah, I'm fine without Drew. I mean, the only fun thing about him was when everyone else made fun of him, he was worthless when he was in skits.
It's gonna be weird watching this now, seeing as how it's been a couple of years and they're obviously much older. For some reason I've never watched either Ryan or Colin in anything other than Whose Line, so I guess I'm in for a bit of a shock. But I'm glad they're doing it now, instead of another 10 years with completely new performers.
Drew got a lot better at his improv. If you watched his "Improvaganza" from a couple years ago you can really see that.
Didn't watch Improvaganza actually, since I heard rather bad things about it. But it has most of the old cast, so I should give it a watch sometimes.
Aisha Tyler isn't funny… at all. Sad tho, I always loved Who's Line
I kinda liked Drew Carey as a host. His improv skills weren't the best, but sometimes that made the skit
.Never heard of this new host till now but at least the main cast remains mostly the same.
Not happy about Wayne being a regular. Say what you will about Drew, he didn't force you to endure unfunny games created specifically for his skills.
If Mike McShane comes back, I'd be as happy as a clam.
Oh, used to love this show wen I was younger. Didn't know it was coming back. Iffy about Aisha Tyler, but she's good on Archer… so ehh. Also, glad everyone is coming back at least. Plus, they've only decided on 10 episodes for now. Won't hurt to watch them.

Wasn't Wayne… always a regular? Or maybe he was just in a ton of episodes then, it's been a while since I watched it.

From season 2 onward, yes. In season 1, he appeared in all but two or three episodes and was credited as a reoccuring improver.

I don't see what the problem is then. He's great as well, in a different way then Ryan and Colin. He's much more physical, and I think those kinds of comics are needed as well.
I never found him funny. I seldom thought he was trying to be funny. A lot of his bits were just him dancing and singing. He's good at that but he was rarely funny while doing it.

I agree with this. He was more theatrical than he was funny.
Used to love watching reruns of the old british version on tv a few years back and I always thought the US version was pretty solid aswell. I've watched quite a lot of improv live at places like The Comedy Store in London and it's that sort of thing that gives me hope for any new version, there are loads of talented improv comedians out there that could make this show great again.

I kinda agree, Ryan and Colin are waaaaay funnier, and just generally better comedians. Still, I think Wayne brings something to the table which is quite necessary. I can't actually put my finger on what it is, but his talents are kind of a breath of fresh air.

You've piqued my curiosity. I get how Wayne is different being more a showman than a comedian, now why do you think that's necessary for an improv show?

Because he can do different kinds of improv to the other guys. He can do the more physical, acrobatic stuff which Colin for instance can't. So his improv tends to be more visually appealing than the others, yet not as funny.
Anyone who is not blown away by Wayne improving songs makes me said. Some of my favorite moments are The Greatest Hits segments (especially when Jeff or Brad are on) as everyone is always involved and firing on all cylinders.
I mean, who can forget "Arctic Tern?" (And the "Opera Warm Up Song" Just listen to that note he hits)

Songs of Norway (i.e. "Why Won't the Sun Go Down")

Obviously nothing compares to Scenes from a Hat, but Greatest Hits is right up there with the Hoedowns and the Irish Drinking Games.

No one is saying he's bad at that. He was very, very good.
But he largely sits out everything else and only comes out to do the song numbers.

He has some fantastic moments in Scenes from a Hat as well. His talent is needed. And the dating game. And the party game. And the news. And any chance he has to do his absurd physical comedy. He was a necessary part of the team and it always felt weird if he wasn't there.
All of the internal tears are being cried.

And now for a quick poll, who was everyone's favorite guest?
For me it was always a tie between Jeff and Brad, though I do love Greg.
If anyone says Kathy I'll be shocked.
Greg is probably my favorite improver on the show. Well, maybe he doesn't beat Colin, but it's very close.
I honestly don't see all the hate on Kathy. Sure, she's… bad. Very bad in fact. But... she's so likable! Right? ... yeah. Okay, I understand now.

Greg, who was always good with solo acts.
Greg Proops, not that I don't remember actively hating anyone.
He's the only one I can remember well enough to recognize outside of the show.
Drew could get exponentially better at improv and still be terrible at improv. He was the absolute worst. He just spent most of his time treading on everyone else's laughs.
The show was at its best when it was Ryan and Colin (and occasionally Greg) dealing with some unforeseen insanity, i.e. Richard Simmons.
So this is a clip of 2 games from the new Whose Line ( song styles, and one scene from a hat ) that are also promoting 90210.
gotta love Wayne Brady doing Japanese pop!
If it wasn't for their age, I wouldn't think the show has skipped a beat. The preview's giving me a lot of hope that Whose Line coming back is gonna be back in full swing.
Only unfortunate thing is Drew Carey as the host was (to me) a fairly big factor in the show's dynamic. Sure, when he was part of the sketches it wasn't amazing, but I liked him as the host, especially his rapport with Ryan, Colin and co. Hope Aisha Taylor can bring something to the table.
Video seems to be gone.

Drew was always the weakest part. If you ever saw the british version of the show you'd know that after about 5 minutes of Clive Anderson. The host is supposed to be straight man… not get in on the acts and be bad at them. It'll be fine with a different host.
Holy shit they're bringing it back!? HYYYYPE
Its on now. And its just as great as I remember.
Watching now .lol at the Kicked out
That was just great.
Classic Whose Line. And I like Aisha Taylor more than Drew, I never liked Drew that much.
The new games, Handbags and Sideways, are hilarious. What I'm not sure about are having the celebrity guests packed in each episode. Kevin McHale did fine, but both times they tried too hard to cram the games around the themes of their shows (zombies, glee club).
I thought the Sideway game was great in my opinion.
So glad this show is back! Seems to be just as good as before, too.
I'm a little worried about how the guest stars are being handled - I thought it was better when it was random audience members brought in for the games - but it was still funny, so whatever. The new sideways game cracked me up!
yeah this show was great, i hope some of the old invited cast such as greg come back
Pretty hilarious, definitely a revival that was worth waiting for.
My mum hates Greg…
but Wayne. He's class.
Then there's the special guests.
Best two definitely gotta be Robin Williams and Richard Simmons... never laughed so much in all my life thought I was gonna die from dehydration from crying with laughter so hard.
Aisha Tyler was pretty good, can't wait till she levels up enough to join in from time to time
Whatever happened to the hoedowns? Did Ryan shoot them down lol
Well Ryan really hated doing hoedowns so it would be no surprise if they don't show up
I think hoedowns were Drew's thing. But he sucked at them. So maybe they're kaput. But I hope Irish Drinking Song still lives.
My mum hates Greg…
How the hell can you hate Greg?
Keegan was pretty enthusiastic on his first outing which is good. Dunno if people like him or not. Personally think he can sometimes be a bit over the top but if he does keep showing up I think he'll find his niche and dynamics with the others eventually.
