Venture Brothers

That's, again, other characters making comments that she herself doesn't confirm or deny. Billy's comment that she has a surgically implanted Babboon Uterus is just as reliable given the circumstances.
-
I think back when the show began she was given a deep voice implying she used to be a man, but now I think they just roll with it. She's had that voice as early as college, which seems too early for a sex change.
-
It has nothing to do with a sex change. Your voice is what dictates the size of your Adams Apple, The reason most cis-womens' Adams Apples are too small to see is because most of them don't have a deep enough voice to produce a big enough Adams Apple to be visible. that's why some cis-women have them. (like Ann Coulter)
It hasn't been confirmed yet why she has a deep voice. A lot of characters have speculated, like Hatred in the clip Wagomu posted, but it's never been confirmed, shown, or stated by her what the real reason is. For example, Hatred is the one who makes the "4 pack a day voice" comment, and later in the season he still asks her "You are a woman right?" so clearly it was a wry comment about the voice and not a statement of fact. I mean, We know she had it as early as college, and I find it REALLY hard to believe she smoked her way into that voice and didn't also get like 3 different kinds of cancer in less than 10 years.
If smoking REALLY caused it, she shouldn't have an Adams Apple. (I think, I'm not a doctor) If she developed it naturally, she should, regardless of her natural born gender.
-
My opinion is it's her natural voice and that the animators never really gave any thought into the Adam's Apple situation. Most females in animation don't have them, and many people do contribute it to men only. So yeah that's what I think, she doesn't have one because animation.
-
She had an adams apple in the pilot, but once they decided that she's female instead of a tranny, they removed it.
-
She had an adams apple in the pilot, but once they decided that she's a cis-female instead of transgendered, they removed it.
Hey…. Aside from correcting your offensive statement... I've already explained like 3 times why a cis-genered woman with a voice as deep as hers SHOULD have an Adams Apple.
-
It doesn't really matter. The dudes behind the show aren't going to go more in-depth than the smoking thing and it makes more sense than unexpected surgical outcomes, so let's roll with it.
-
I'm sorry for using certain loose terminology for when I discuss a parody cartoon character. Though, I didn't say it as an offensive term, and I know many transgender who don't see it as an offensive term. But I do think you might be trying to be trying to be a little overly politically correct; especially for a character who was originally a poor parody and can be a tad bit offensive in her own right.
Regardless, my point being is she is a female in the creators eyes, and its canon that's she's female. To argue about it further is silly.
-
And… if she were transgender, she'd also be female... not a cisgender female but still a female. It bugs me to no end when people try to act like transgirls aren't "Real" females... Also, "Tranny" IS offensive, as is "She-male".
Either way, I was talking only about her voice. A person with a naturally deep voice, regardless of their natural gender, should have a bigger Adams Apple. Gender has nothing to do with it. I also never said this was a big issue, just something I caught onto. Not trying to really make a big deal out of it. Tho I do wonder if we'll ever get an origin for her voice.
I'm finally on Season 4 of my rewatch.
-
The thing about it is, her original intent wasn't to be a real female. I'm not saying transgender-ed aren't. I have nothing but respect and admiration all genders, especially for those who brave a world that might not understand them trying to be themselves. The only reason why I use loose terminology for Dr. Girlfriend who the joke was that it was male or not a female; when the pilot was made. Obviously now its just a deep voiced woman, who's extremely attractive.
-
No. If she were trans, that would NOT IN ANY WAY make her male. Saying that her being a fictional character in a cartoon is justification for using terms like "Tranny" and stating that being trans means someone is not a "real female" is so insulting and is like saying that a black person shouldn't be offended if you used the word "N****r" to refer to Jefferson Twilight and insist he must love fried chicken and watermellon, and that it's ok because he's a fictional character in a cartoon.
I didn't mean to start this conversation, I tried hard in the beginning to make clear that "Voice causes Adams Apple" not "Gender Causes Adams Apple" so that specifically this conversation wouldn't happen. She was made to be a parody of Jackie Kennedy Onasis, who was said to have a "Deeper than normal" voice for a women back in the 60s. The Adams Apple was said to be an animation mistake in one of the commentary tracks and that it was "Fixed" later. That's where the joke from Home Is Where the Hate Is comes from. The "Who the hell is Jaqueline Onasis?!" Joke from the party.
-
I never stated anything about trans being not a real female. Also my justification for the term Tranny wasn't because it was a cartoon, but as I stated previously because the circle of people I know who are a part of the GLBT community, do not take offensives to those terms. Usually terms like "Tranny" and "shemale" are used by said person in a none-negative way depending on how flamboyant the personality of said person is and how sex-positive they are. Reminder that words are words; human inventions, and if you allow words to be negative, then they're negative.
Granted, I should've and will been more respectful that some people are not as open to the terminology. And as stated by my previous post, I apologize for using the termonlogy. And sorry for any transgression you personally receive from it Demon Rin.
But, please do not take offensive that I might've got'n facts or thoughts straight on a character. The commntary is quite old, and I haven't watched it in a long while. Maybe I misinterpreted. But when I posted my statement I believed that Dr. Girlfriend was a male character in the pilot episode. I thought she wasn't intended to be female in that episode, because of the commentary that I haven't watched in a few years. I mustn't mis-remembered that the Adams apple was a animation error; which is interesting since it was done in flash and I'm pretty sure Jackson Public helped animate it.
I know her design is a direct reference to Jackie Kennedy Onasis, that's obvious. I know the references, I know the humor. Again, the statement above.
All my intent for my statement was to throw in what I believed was correct information after reading your few post. And regardless, I'm gonna avoid this thread for a bit to keep the peace, and I'll return to speak my thoughts once the season has aired.
-
Animation mistake? So they do think Adams Apple = male like I thought. They should be corrected.
-
Trasgendered, transvestite, transcendentalist, transplant, transfat, transylvania, transformers: robots in disguise, no offense was meant and Dr. Girlfriend is female as things stand. Maybe she was breastfed cigarette butts or ate Tom Waits to gain his power, who knows, and if it's going to turn into this big of a deal, who cares? While you were busy disputing the sexual characteristics of a cartoon character, I have been busy systematically feeding babies to hungry, mutated puppies.
-
-
It wasn't really a debate, Rin merely pointed something out and others turned it into a mess.
-
I prefer to think of it as making the previous conversation better by comparison.
-
Just shame.
Shame on everyone involved.
-
ugh, I should never have said anything…

ugh, I should never have said anything…
Don't be silly, of course you should. It's an error you found, why wouldn't you bring it up?
-
Tonight's the season premiere, don't forget it you losers!
-
But wouldn't failing to watch it adhere to the shows morals?

Ok. Posted this elsewhere but, here are My thoughts on it:
AWESOME! Strong start to a season, really happy here because this seems like the first season premiere that didn't pick up after a HUGE cliffhanger (It had a little one, with the Mol and Monstroso thing) but I was wondering where they'd go, and they really didn't disappoint. Some highlights, and WARNING, spoiler'd because… well, spoilers, but they didn't exactly drop bombshells here either.
! - Billy and White are finally in the big leagues, they even have an arch (with the most ridiculous costume ever, yes moreso than Captain Sunshine)
! - Doc ACTUALLY got up off his ass and attempted to do some work to better his situation in life. Don't worry, he's still Doc, he screws it up royally along the way, and SOMEHOW comes out of it ahead, while stepping on people…
! - Gary really has left the Monarch for keepsies, and I'm liking what they're doing with him so far. He's REALLY a good guy now, and... he's good at it. Monarch misses him too, it's kinda cute. I hope they play with that more.
! - Speaking of the Monarch, he and Dr. Girlfriend are basically there for the Gary moments and to foreshadow the resolution of the episode so it isn't a Deus Ex Machina. Nothing big out of them other then the hilarious sex roleplay scene & after the credits scene.
! - Hank and Dean... are a mixed bag. I loved Hank's character development in Season 4 and I was happy when he started to look different, when he had Brock's Jacket and the longer hair... I'm REALLY sad they mostly reverted him. On the other hand, Dean's FINALLY evolving as a character. I don't even care that he's gone stereotypical Emo, he's changing and it's awesome.
! - Brock is teased at the beginning. Do NOT expect a concrete answer to what happened to Molotov and Monstroso at the end of the last season, they just open more questions in the first minute of the episode and then never get back to it. I'm assuming Hunter's new OSI will be featured more prominently later, they basically booked 2 minutes in and were never seen again.
! - Order of the Triad were complete no-shows. Which is a shame, I loves me some Orpheus. Hopefully more on them later.
! - Last but not least, Hatred. Oh Hatred. One of my favorite characters from Season 4 (I ignored the pedo jokes, otherwise I loved what they did with him) I'm liking the direction they're going with him... but if anyone who saw the Halloween Special and/or the promos noticed that he clearly had boobs.... yeah, don't expect them to answer that one here. They literally have Gary question it at the end of the episode and then BAM, cut to credits.
Overall tho, REALLY strong start for the season, really hoping to see it go places from here. -
That was pretty damn good. Season 4 (seems to be the mixbag of season for most shows, see Community) was the only season I haven't re-watched. There's a select few that were like the best of the series, but then there were some worse… like Dr. Quinn episode bad.
But, this. This was classic. I really like what they're doing with Dean, Gary, and Hatred.
-
Dean's character change is based on Peter Parker in Spiderman 3; I made an image a while back about it. As for the premiere itself, I absolutely loved it. It made those 2+ years waiting for a season pay off.
-
Good start, I don't think I've ever been disappointed with a VB season yet. I like that they keep expanding on new and existing characters and let them change and grow. The Monarch misses 21…awww lol. I just hope we get some good Brock screen time.
-
Anywhere I can see the episode? The places I usually check when I miss the tv airings don't seem to have it.

Adult Swim actually put it up on youtube for free:
-
My only real complaint about the episode is the weird transition with Hatred getting dragged away.
-
[as] also puts the episodes on their site the day after they premiere (which is where I just watched it).
Man, what a great return to TV after so long, well worth the wait. Gary taking charge of the Venture misfits was definitely the highlight of the episode, so hopefully there are more great things still to come from him. I can't wait to see what happens next…
-

-
lol, yeah that was perfect.
The rest of the plot of the show seems familiar to me, but I can't place it. Is there anything in particular they're ripping on with the different factions and colors, or does it just one of those things that has enough bits and pieces of so many stories that it feels familar? Obviously the end was totally the Ewok celebration, but that's another matter.
-
Also, how many Star Wars references were in that episode? Not complaining, I loves me some Star Wars, but it felt like that one had more than usual for a VB episode lol.
-
I'd have to go back and watch it, there was the Dean as Luke moment, the Ewok party, and I'm guessing there was some Star Wars references as props in the quiz segment.
-
That was a downright ORGASMIC season premiere. Loved how they picked right up the morning after the prom episode before skipping ahead with the plot. The week's only half-over and I'm already an anxious wreck waiting for the next episode.
! That's NOT what I was expecting to happen with SPHINX, to be honest. Based on what we saw in the special Shallow Gravy episode, I was expecting Hunter to take off with a few members and lead the OSI, but for him to leave Brock behind in command of SPHINX along with just a few of the others, or something. Didn't expect them all to just bail for OSI and leave Gary to fly solo, but… hey, in a way, that's kind of better.
! Also eagerly awaiting an explanation for Hatred's ta-tas, despite knowing deep down that we probably won't get one too soon. -

I thought Hatred's tits were a side effect of the anit-pedo drugs he was taking?
-
I thought Hatred's tits were a side effect of the anit-pedo drugs he was taking?
First I've heard of it if that's the case.
-
Yup, Hatred's tits are a side-effect of the anti-pedophile drugs that he was taking last season (though, considering how chummy he got with Thomas, maybe he stopped)…
-
So with the flashes of Hatred's past in the latest episode, he was supposed to be the Captain America of this world, but becoming a raging pedo was a side effect of his super soldier serum…I wanna know more now...
-
So Captain Sunshine is the way he is because Sargent Hatred harassed him because of the serum? That's awesome.
By the way, i don't live in the US. Is there a legal way for me to watch the series? I mean, it's really easy to stream it but…i don't know. It feels right to watch it legally.
-
Bless this show for its little details. In the last episodes, among the monsters that joined the Abomi-Nation, I spotted Oompah Loompahs, the Human Centipede, The Brain That Wouldn't Die (or The Head That Wouldn't Die, depending on which credits you believe) and the Robot Monster. And those were just the ones I recognized.
-
The newest episode was just… wow, ok, so cool...
Hank... damn... that kid kicks ass when he's hopped up on coffee... he was really pulling a Batman the entire time and that was awesome. Also, Hatred Backstory is extremely welcome.
Also, ditto on the people praising the little details. I noticed that out of all the "Venturesteins" featured in the episode, included were A Hank and Dean clone slug and Ted and Sonny from the Groovy Gang.
-
If I wasn't such a big fan of [Gary/21/Viceroy/SPHINX Commander], I might have been disappointed with the latest episode. The premise was great, but for some reason the execution came off as a tad underwhelming and the ending just kind of fizzled out with no big payoff. I dunno, maybe I should watch it again. Need to also re-watch the prior episode to pick up on the background stuff you guys are mentioning.
-
So, that myseterious photo of Monarch and Rusty together as kids (with his parents there.)
I wonder if my ages old theory about the two being brothers is actually going to come true?
-
Sooo… is Dr. Girlfriend the result of a Jackie Kennedy-Jonas Venture, Jr. dalliance?
-
Sooo… is Dr. Girlfriend the result of a Jackie Kennedy-Jonas Venture, Jr. dalliance?
She'd have to have no idea who her birth mother as in that case, since in an earlier episode she specifically had no idea who Jackie Onassis was.
I don't think any sort of deal has ever been made about her family history though. Heck, none of her history until she was at University. But making her Rusty's half-sister certainly wouldn't be beyond the show at all… any more than making Monarch a lost third Venture Brother. ...probably not both of those things however.
