Morgan, GET! First child, recruited. The battled wasn't hard at all, really. Maybe it's because I've been grinding so much in the EXP DLC map, lol.
Morgan was your first?
Wow. I still haven't got him/her, but I do have Owain, Kjelle, and Laurent.

so since the game hasn't really touched on it. Am I limited with Supports like in the normal? Like the usual five slots? (and I'm assuming one extra if you wanna S rank? Or is it possible to get all but the S rank in one playthrough?)
Yup. Why, is that so uncommon?
Eventually going to make him a Grandmaster like his Mama, just thinking about what skills to give him before that.

You only get one S rank, with the character you marry.
What about with the others? Could I say, S Rank Lissa and Frederick and then C. B. A with others?
What about with the others? Could I say, S Rank Lissa and Frederick and then C. B. A with others?
Yep. You can potentially get A rank with everyone the character is compatable with, but you can only S rank with one.
You can S rank Lissa and Frederick, marrying them, then CBA certain others that they can support with. (if you look in their support menu you can see which other characters they can support with, it varies. Anna, for exaple, can only support with like, two people, but only S rank/marry the Avatar.)
What about with the others? Could I say, S Rank Lissa and Frederick and then C. B. A with others?
Except for a few special ocassions think of it this way.
1. Any female can marry any male. You can only marry one person. S rank means marriage, so only 1 S rank
2. All males can get A rank support with every female
3. All females can get A rank support with every male
4. There are a couple same sex A ranks available, such as Vaike and Lonque. Each person may have 1 or 2 supports of same sex.
But for most part all supports are of opposing sexes.
That is of course not the case with avatar. Avatar has supports for EVERY character. But same as everybody, can only get 1 S rank.
Unlike older games you can have every one else be A rank. There is no only 2 A, 3 B, rest C ect. crap that some games had. The only restriction is 1 S, the rest can be A
As I said a few exceptions, like Chrom, Anna and Sumia I can think off the top of my head have fewer support options than others. But for most part you can get A rank with every opposing sex.
you can get A with anyone on the support list but only 1 S per person.
I started the game on hard mode and i'm so stuck on whether i should restart on regular. It's really difficult however i've been playing for 2 and a half hours
Actually, every male can't marry every female, and vice versa.
Chrom can't marry Cordelia for some bizzare reason. He can only marry FeMu, Sully, Sumia, Maribelle, and Olivia.
And Sumia has the worst options, considering she can only marry Chrom, MaMu, Fredrick, Gaius, and Henry.
Mu can marry anyone in the game that is opposite of his/her gender, except for Morgan (for obvious reasons).
Well. I held out long enough. Fire Emblem marks the first time I've actually paid for DLC (excluding the games that are re-released with DLC included like Arkham City and New Vegas) that pack for £2.99 was too good to miss.
Nice.
I decided to go the Cavalier (starter) -> Myrmidon -> Swordmaster -> Grandmaster route for Morgan. I want to make him a Grandmaster like his Mama, but I don't want him to be a complete copy, I want him to be a different model.
As today was a lockdown day in Boston, I spent it grinding and collecting Owain and Say'ri.
Owain I'm taking through the Myrmidon (starter) -> Thief -> Assassin route, which I hope I won't regret in the future, but it will be a nice collection of skills for him in addition to what he has now.

I believe I said a couple exceptions such as Chrom and Sumia.
Besides Chrom and Sumia, I think practically every female and male that you acquire in the MAIN story line can marry one another. Obviously that excludes chrom and sumia. Also the couple people you get like in the second to last chapter also don't have any marry supports except avatar.
Then children can marry only other children and avatar.
i need to meet more people. So far i have 2 streetpass characters. I want an army
I obtained Kjelle, which means I officially now have the BADASS family. I.e Sully, Vaike, and Kjelle.
Kjelle I'm taking the Mercenary -> Hero -> Great Knight route.
Other than that I need to do some serious grinding to finish skill harvesting and support levelling so I can get the rest of the kids. Which I know will be a challenge, as I've heard Morgan, Owain, and Kjelle are apparently the easiest of the kids to get.
I played quite a bit into it. Was a bit annoyed that Chrom's support with Sumia went from C to S almost instantly since I missed the conversations. Aside from that I married Main Character and Tharja and also Sully with Vaike.
Also got Matthew and Marth from the DLC. Matthew is one of my faves so chuffed. Hopefully Serra and Lyn come soon too. Not strong enough to go against Eliwood yet tho :/
Trying to decide on who else to use still. So annoying when so many great characters appear haha. Olivia and Panne still need husbands. Thinking Donny and Gaius. Dunno which for which tho. Lissa and Lon'qu are coming along fine too
I married Panne to Gregor. LOL. "Now bunny jump into Gregor's arms!"
Donny is always best to marry to Nowi. 1. It's adorable. 2. It makes Nah a MONSTER.
I'm not really using Nowi so kinda pointless for me. I am using both Olvia and Panne tho. Gregor not really using either. He's good and all but Donny is a Merc too, and got plenty of other sword users. Maybe I'll marry Gregor and Nowi lol
I do hope there are more great conversations. Tharja's whole thing was just amazing. I think I had to stop playing in order to laugh when she threatened to murder you
Edit: Just had a hilarious conversation between Lyn and Gregor about how he resembles a brigand due to being unwashed
I've taken my avatar the tactician -> myrmidon -> Sword master -> grandmaster route to. Just did chapter 12.
Gregor is jokes but i think i'll remove him from my mains in replace for cherche now. I need her and vaike to get it on.
Also despite not using him and often forgetten his name, i love the joke with kellam XD
I don't tend to use Kellam unless I need a shield for my mages. One reason I married him to Miriel.
I've just never been big on Knights in any FE game. Having one less move than most other classes really hurts them, especially in 4.
One Knight is enough. Only for when you need a big wall.
I use the pair up function a lot more on lunatic mode, and knights are pretty helpful for that.
On hard and normal mode I used approximately zero of them.
Poor Kellam, he's always overlooked.
Seriously though, that's why I'm yanking Kjelle out of Knight class with the goal of Great Knight. Much better on a horse than the ground.
Yeah, Great Knight has much better stats overall, arguably the best stats for a physical damage unit. Only draw back is double weakness toward Armor Piercing and Beast Killers.
And that is why I'm coaxing my Freddy-Bear up to better stats as a Paladin so I can turn him back into a Great Knight so that he and my Avatar can pair up and kick even more butt.
Dammit Nintendo. Just raped my wallet. Hard. Releasing the Golden Pack and Scramble Pack a the same time for £5.35 each. Still not even got CHampions of Yore 1-3 yet lol
For those Americans who have played these before is there any order to do them in or not matter?

Well they do increase in difficulty as they come out, so while its generally better to do them in order it's not required or anything.
Been playing this for a few days now.
This is ubdoubtedly the best Fire Emblem game released in the west. The biggest thorn in my side of previous games - random level ups - no longer presents as much of an issue, as I can do saves beforehand in casual mode(I still restart the entire level if someone "dies").
I'd still prefer fixed stat gains, but this mode allows me to not have to restart levels 10 times because someone got a lousy +1 luck level up.
I'm completely new to Fire Emblem and have never played a single one before Awakening and boy do I feel like I've missed out. This game is really amazing in story, gameplay, and characters. I love that the story really feels like your own if you play on Classic Mode with the deaths because almost everyone has a different outcome.
That being said, I must really suck at this game. I've gone super hardcore and refuse to reload when someone dies so I really feel like a war tactician. Is it just me or do Cavaliers suck because all of mine are dead. Also, it kind of annoys me if a character dies and then continues to be in cut scenes-I kind of just head canon it that they were crippled for life and could no longer battle.
R.I.P.
Frederick (Gang banged by fucking Risen wyrm riders)
Vaike (You had A class support, why didn't you dodge you idiot!!! Killed by critical hit from archer)
Sully (Killed by a high level Risen)
Stahl (Killed by some wimp with an axe-stahl sucks)
Kellam (Made me finally understand the difference between high defense and high resistance. DAMN YOU MAGES!!!!)

Nothing special really story wise for DLC. Basically they are just some guy has his pokemon cards stolen and you have to get them back.
As for useful ones. CHampions of Yore 3 gives +2 all stats. Very handy to toss on your characters since it will be a long time until you even have 5 skills. NO point in having blank spaces when its so easy to get that tomb. You should be able to beat that level at just lvl 20, non promoted. Probably even earlier if on easier difficulty.
Not sure what scramble pack is? Is that the one that you can get the Bride tomb and paragon skill? If so ignore them for now. They are too tough until your really strong. By the time you are getting characters who are only getting 8 xp per kill, that is when you want to do paragon level so you get double xp. Sure its only 16 xp, but its still double, thus takes half the time to level.
Those are teh two things that are most useful. +2 stats and paragon.
Of course Limit Breaker, Bride and Dread Fighter are things that one may or may not want for end game or final classes and skills, but the +2 stats and Paragon are very helpful when leveling and throughout the game before your finishing your character

Wow good luck later game.
You are going to be missing out on some major tanks.

What difficulty are you playing on? Also, word of advice: Keep flying units away from wind magic and bow users if you can help it, as those will do extra damage against flying units. Also, out of curiousity, what chapter are you on?
And yeah, for important characters who are necessary to the plot (and also pretty much all female characters for another reason) Fire EMblem games have always said they just retreated from the battlefield and act as though they were too crippled to continue actual fighting
Since is my first time playing this game I went with the normal mode but i'm only on chapter 16 since i'm having so fun doing the suport conversations.
Donnel scare's the shit out of me making almost feel sorry for my enemies.
Gaius is my favourite.
Yeah I'm starting in normal too, I've got like 20+ hours already and I'm nto close to the end because I'mh aving fun grinding and getting everyone married.
Getting everyone married is like one of the best parts.

. . . . . . you lost like ALL your knights. And you lost one of your ladies so now you've lost one of your potential children. And ironically that potential child was also a knight.
Piece of advice: Don't lose ANY more of your females. If you want to regain your lost numbers you are going to need to recruit those children in the future.
Some marriages feel great. Others not so much.
And yeah the DLC was fun. One was basically there for tons of gold, the other one was plenty of new dialogue options (especially between females and ones between males) and I'm assuming the beach and hot springs one will include tons of fanservice haha
Some marriages feel great. Others not so much.
I still wish they had limited marriage selections to only a few units each. Kinda makes it less meaningful, IMO.
Anyway, speaking of kids and marriage, I'm slowly but surely recruiting all the children. I just got Cynthia, but I didn't get to the boss in time on her map. Little pissant ran away from me.
What difficulty are you playing on?
Playing on hard because I like to be an asshole to myself lol. Really, though I like having to thoroughly think through every decision and it makes the war scenarios feel way more epic and realistic because somebody could die at any moment and you never know for sure what your opponent will do. Enemy critical hits are bullshit though.

Ugh I know I'm really screwed with knight tanks later on, but surprisingly ever since they've died I've been doing really well (probably because I got a lot smarter about tactics). Way early on I thought the knights and cavaliers were supposed to be tanks so I'd pair them with each other and have them charge recklessly into battle which obviously turned out to be a HORRIBLE mistake.
Stahl though-there is no damn excuse for. I babied that man and was careful and always had him kill enemies to level up and he was STILL killed by someone like 4 levels lower than him. Stahl is easily the worst character. Though he also taught me the lesson that if you baby troops too much it's just as bad as being reckless with them.
I was thinking of reclassing some guys into knights or cavaliers once they get to twenty including my personal character. Any advice? Thinking mainly Donnel.
Hmm, I dunno. I promoted Stahl to a Paladin and the guy's got some insane defense.

Yeah, Donnel would be a good choice.
To be honest, I'm not big on reclassing my characters, but another option to consider is recruiting avatars from past games. Not sure how many cavaliers you can get, but I know there's a decent amount of knights early on.

This is your first time playing Fire Emblem and you're playing on Hard? You sir, are a Sadist. And I think you've now learned to NEVER charge recklessly into battle.
Don't belittle Stahl. My Stahl is a beast, he's one of my best knights. Your Stahl just wasn't grown enough, apparently. I recently turned mine from Paladin to Bow Knight, but if he doesn't do well enough as a Bow Knight I'll turn him back into a Paladin.
And FYI, if you're going to reclass characters reclass them at level 10, it will take longer for them to level up in the new class if you wait until level 20.

OH GOD Sully and Kjelle are cooking, run run for the hills!!
@Cyan:
[hide]There's too many things I love about this picture!
-Inigo mistaking Libra for a woman.
-Sumia and Cynthia about to crash into Cordelia and Severa's cake (the fact that the two of them made such a god damn good cake).
-Stahl seemingly cutting food with the Falchioin.
-Sully and Kjelle carrying that horrendous pot of nightmares they just made.
And best of all,
-Owain and Noire, my OTP.[/hide]
@Cyan:
My favorite part:
! Lon'qu peeling potatoes (which he apparently is the best at out of the whole army) and Lissa standing behind him with a frog. Yes, they're married in my playthrough. So cute!

They're married in mine too XD
Just got up to the bit where all of the sidequests open up at once. Tried one of them and got beat baaaaaaaad
Only wish they made Kellam harder to find.
Only wish they made Kellam harder to find.
Or just not had him in there. Then you'd have the series of comments going "Where's Kellam? … oh!"
Whoever the artist is did a really good job at capturing every character. I particulalrly enjoyed seeing Sumia about to fall on the cake and Tharja being all over MyUnit.
The only inaccuracy is that Donnel should be dragging in Grima's corpse.
Speaking of whom, how'd y'all go about leveling up and class-changing ol' Donny Boy?
Me, I leveled him up all the way to level 30 as a Villager (because I'm anal), and then I promoted him to Hero. Sucks having to rebuild his weapons up all over again, but he can still kick ass even with a bronze sword.
I leveled him to to a level 10 Villager then couldn't stand it anymore, reclassed him to a Mercenary, then a Hero. Right now I'm going up the Hero levels, but I'm not sure if I'll reclass him again or not.
I'm facing a predicament with Libra. He needs some reclassing for growth benefits, but he doesn't have that many options available. Only Sage, Dark Knight, or Sorcerer. I guess Dark Knight is the best class I can think of, but it loses me a healer . . . .
