It just fits so perfectly. And there's no way this is a Vita game.
Metal Gear Solid V: Survive is some real far waters exploitation

Theres just so many questions that come to mind, is this big boss? Why is he missing an arm? Where does this fit in the series? Did he get a full on bionic arm later that we never knew of? It looks great, but man kojima sure likes to screw with us haha.
-
Wait if this is supposed to tease V, then is Ground Zeroes MGS 5 then? I thought it was stated that it was a prequel to V.
-
I think it's debunked that this is metal gear 5?

It would be so weird if kojima would hand the main series down to sweden.
Maybe it is a spin off because the clothes rather look like the fox engine. But then you have to take into account all the conspiracy comments that are weirdly convincing… :P
-
How many Metal Gear games have we got coming soon now? Three? Four? I've honestly lost count now.

There's no conspiracy, it's facts.
I also loved during the VGAs they cut to Kojima sitting in the audience and said "Let's congratulate Konami for the 25th anniversary of Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid series." He had his troll face on.
Oh wait, that's just how Kojima always looks.

3. Rising, Ground Zeroes and 5. MG5 is confirmed to happen regardless if this game ends up being it or not.

Yeah after reading up on more stuff I'm also convinced especially after seeing that pic with the weird lines

This looks like it could be after Metal Gear. Solid Snake defeated Boss and destroyed Outer Heaven, but boss survives (Which we know …), loses a hand and lands in the hospital. This could be a lead-in to Metal Gear 2, just as Boss is struggling to start a new base in Zanzibar Land (which Solid Snake will destroy again.)
The doctor in the video looks like Dr. Madnar, the guy who worked for Boss during both events, and even orchestrated his kidnapping. Obviously the guy survives and is the one who helps Raiden with his artificial blood.
Although I'm surprised that this is released (if it is MGS5), given how we don't even know when Ground Zeroes is being released, as long as Kojima works on it, I don't care. And Kojima did speak about opening up a studio in USA.

Nah. It's probably Metal Gear Solid V. Kojima's asian. He can make a fake company if he wants to, to 'promote' a game from a very popular series.

Really though… Why are the japanese such trolls... Well, I guess I should say japanese people who make popular series (like One Piece and Metal Gear Solid).
-
The graphics are great. When I saw the screen of Madnar, I thought it was live-action like those Rising trailers.
-
I'm kind of disappointed if it is a Metal Gear game. Seemed so spooky and bizarre, that maybe it could have been a twisted game about being mentally insane during a time of chaos. Like you see things that don't make sense rather than the reality of the situation. Or maybe even a dream state.
Regardless, I'm sure it will be fun. Just probably not the horror game I was hoping for.
-
It's probably Snake hallucinating most of it. He kept seeing flower petals from his fight with the boss. In the fire was the boss' horse as well as Volgin. Plus little boy Psycho Mantis.
-
When it comes to the MGS games centered around Big Boss, I like to think they'll just get infinitely closer to the events of Metal Gear.
Also, in the Ground Zeroes trailer, didn't the main guy it focused on look like his whole head was burned?
-
Yeah, people think that's who helps Snake in the phantom pain trailer due to his entire head being bandaged.
-
I've seen some speculation that this takes place after Metal Gear since apparently Snake cut off one of BB's arms, one of his ears, and the like as well as him falling into a coma when he beat him during the Metal Gear games. I really wish they would remake those.
Edit:
It's Joakim MogrenAnd it looks like people are having fun with this.

Someone also created a Twitter account for him.

At one point in the trailer, the face-bandaged soldier says to the main protagonist "On your feet, soldier! The whole place is coming down!" This was actually reused audio dialogue from Sgt. Roebuck, Kiefer Sutherland's character from Call of Duty: World at War.
I wonder, does Kifer Sutherland own his proformance?
-
People are saying that Sutherland is actually the person voicing the guy leading BB/Snake through the hospital.
And here's Joakim's Twitter

You know if I were Kojima and I really wanted to continue this farce, I would just hire some random schmuck to go around posing as Joakim Mogren just to throw people off (go to conventions, walk the walk, talk the talk and so on…).
-
I say they carry this all the way and actually have the Phantom Pain/Moby Dick Studios branding on the final retail box art whenever it releases. The proper Metal Gear/Konami stuff can be on the reverse side.

Kojima hasn't fucked with the press since the Raiden debacle, it's high time he took that to the next level. -
Not really much to talk about with the game itself (other than the phantom pain speculation, but theres a thread for that). But anyway most of you may have seen these but kojima let loose some awesome images of big boss with the 25th anniversary bento box someone made. Standing within that rendered room they once showed off as well.

LinkMan i love that fox engine
-
Wait, are the entire images rendered, just the room? If you wouldn't have told me I might have thought it was a cosplayer.
-
Everything is rendered in Fox Engine. That's Big Boss' Ground Zeroes model.
-
Considering the tone of the trailer and how Big Boss climbed his way into the base much like Snake in Metal Gear 2. Therefore, I wonder if this episode is gonna feel very similar which could be the theme of betrayal. I am sure Kojima is gonna explain why Otacon's parents, Miller (its a given) and the sandinistas are gonna leave him and likely make him more insane and tragic. I guess these betrayal will likely lead him to be as bad as the patriots (he also thought that it was his role to decide how human beings will live their lives).

Well Big Boss gets shown in a different light each game. He went from a somewhat sympathetic overlord in the first 2 to a guy who just wanted to bring soldiers who had nowhere else to go together in the early solid games, to someone who wanted to avoid the influence of the Patriots in the later games.

That's the irony because he really changed over the years, he wanted to bring down the patriots (they wanted to impose some kind of Matrix world on the human) and impose on the world outer heaven (a chaotic world of perpetual war where soldiers will always have a place). In either case, the world is pretty much screwed and they both misinterpreted the Boss's will and ironically Solid Snake accomplished what she really wanted.
I guess Big Boss's kind father aspect to his soldiers and Snake is what makes him a complex character. Nevertheless, he is undeniabely the Darth Vader of the Metal Gear series except that unlike Anakin of the prequels he is really likable.

Though nobody cares I wanted to come in here and give my opinion on the Metal Gear series as a whole. The first game in the series I played was MGS1 for the PS1. I loved this game and played through it multiple times, and I was right there with a lot of people anxiously awaiting MGS2.
I got MGS2 close to it's launch and all was fine until the infamous switch to Raiden. After that I did not enjoy the rest of the game as much and felt confused by the overly-complicated story.Once I finished that game and the third game was announced, I did not pay much attention to it at all. It seems that ever since the second MGS I was turned very off to the series and have not played nor cared about any games in the series following MGS3. Why am I telling you all this? Because today I played the demo for Metal Gear Rising Revengance and enjoyed it. Perhaps this game and the new Ground Zeroes could pull me back into the MGS universe, but only if Kojima tones down the overly-intricate storytelling.
-
Did you play 3 or not? Three's the best MGS game.

No, I actually never did get around to playing that one, but I have heard good things.

Oh man get on that right now, 3 easily makes up for any shortcomings 2 could have had. Its definitely my favorite game in the series.
-
Despite loving MGS3, I had issues with the gameplay:
- I did not like the fact that I had to go the menu to switch camo non stop and it sorta takes you out of the game.
- I really don't like the idea of having to use the right analog stick constantly to readjust the camera.
- The controls felt rigid.
- I hated that the guards gets everyone in the alert one second after seeing you.
I thought Mgs 2 did not have any of these issues and the gameplay felt more intuitive and natural.
Overrall 2 is my favourite of the series:
- Solid Snake's charisma literally goes over the roof, he is probably greatest character I have ever seen.
- Ironically, Raiden replacing Snake did not bother me so much because it was totally on purpose. Snake is intentionally put in the sideline to make him even more badass. You're not Snake (not awesome but that was point) but teaming up (admiring even more) was a memorable experience.
- Solidus Snake is maybe the most interesting and underappreciated villain of the series.
- The story is one of the greatest and thought provoking I have ever seen (Its not that complicated). I guess it was too complex and way ahead of its time.
- Solid Snake's speech about at the end of the game is really touching.
-
The Raiden switch felt cheap and really really disappointed and confused me… but it was meant to show Snake in a different light.
It's just too bad that Raiden was just sort of a pansy... about everything...
-

First is fixed by Subsistence. As for the third one, if a guard sees you he radios it in. If you shoot the radio out of his hand or knock him out before he does it it won't go into alert.
Edit: Though the camera control in 3 is no different than in the first two. It's kind of an archaic mechanism though.

I guess the Raiden switch was meant to troll us because Kojima pretty much tells us that we are Raiden (the dog tags). We did not really achieve anything Snake did in the first game (Raiden actually did the Shadow moses and Big shell incident in VR but it is all based on Snake's experience not his). I am gonna take the example of FF10 with Tidus and Auron. Its pretty clear that the creators wanted Tidus (his desing was meant to appeal the Japanese teenagers) and everyone end up making compliments on how awesome he is. However, its the polar opposite much mocked non stop (his gf thinks Snake is cooler than you, Snake keeps stealing the show, he is being used all the time and Snake calls him a weak simple minded stuborn fool) was really made by design. That's why, I did not really feel it was cheap because it was really on purpose and the fact it helped me appreciate Snake's character even more (the mentor figure about how to deal in battle and more importantl about how we define our own identity and interpret reality). The MGS series is really atypical because he was pretty much telling the player to let go of the series (people ususally love to cater on a series but he really did not want and encourage us to be more focused on real life outside of gaming. It is sad that gamers only remembered the most superficial aspects of the game.
@sakonosolo I was talking about subsistence. For me, its kind of a pain to focus my mind on readjusting the camera constantly. I really preferred the old style when I just had the left analog stick to move (the camera was already in place perfectly for 2 and the radar was here) and I could focus all my mind on what's happening on screen. However, I can agree with the fact in 3 the controls were horrible for the new jungle type environments and a readjustable camera was mandatory. I am just saying that I prefer gameplay wise when MGS is located in confined a high tech modern enivronment which made the experience a lot more simple and fun. Concerning the alert, I did not know it was just one second ( it feels like a throwback from Mgs1) because I was still in Mgs 2 mentality meaning that tit really took him time to go alert mode (he kicks your ass and tries to find a safe place to call everyone). In 3, it almost felt that the guards minds were all connected (he can see what I can see). Maybe, I did not really try the game enough, even as a fan the MGS series is not really about the replay value but more about the story itself.

Honestly playing through MGS2 a month ago it's not really Raiden that bugs me so much as Rosemary.

lol we are actually talking about Kojima's wife and why the heck did he marry her. I do admit that Rosemary felt shallow but her character becomes interesting when she reveals who she is and the final discussion with Raiden kinda redeemed her.

Just a description of what phantom pain actually is but "Pain," "Lumin," and "Portion" are a different color. No idea what they could mean.

I love you Kojima, but…
Video games as a medium haven't matured very much at all in the last 25 years
BULL
It's always about killing aliens and zombies.
AND SHIT. I've killed way more "people" than aliens and zombies in video games and, unless you choose to sneak, that's all you do in the MGS games as well. There is nothing controversial or taboo that he is possibly doing. Unless there's a sex mini-game with Big Boss… which could be awesome.

You gotta admit that there are a lot of Fps (80 percent) when I walk in a gamestop nowadays. Its too bad kids nowadays won't be able to play 90s games.
The setting of Ground Zeroes itself is rather taboo…
Mgs games have always been somehow connected to reality. -
Saying 'there are a lot' doesn't mean much when there's still a wide variety of games from each genre. I also doubt it'll be any more taboo than anything we've already seen. Theme-wise, there was plenty of stuff back in the 90s when graphics weren't quite as clear. If he's referring to having the U.S. as an enemy, Spec Ops: The line and Alpha Protocol(to a point) have done that. That's just off the top of my head. Child soldiers I'm sure is somewhere if you want to look for it, and in the Walking Dead game, you teach a child to defend herself. Any grusome death has probably been done worse in a horror game.
….What is the setting anyway?

The variety seems to be fading. Nowadays, I see fps ads like 80 percent of times (big guys with guns looking cool) Everything seems to be more action and I often hear that in high school that they only talk about FPS. Even the great RE series tried to please the cod fanboys at the expense of real fans like me because "it sucks to have fixed camera with bad controls and who cares if its not scary anymore !". "Power to the player" phrase is full of bs because they are just consumers (cod fanboys) not artists or game designers . Ask them what's a low, high and dutch angle shost and they won't have any clues. I don't think they advertise FPS or TPS based on feeling bad about killing other people and more on how cool it looks.
Its really sad that most of them won't get the chance to play MGS1. I mean there are players who admitted that they felt bad for kiling Wolf or letting Meryl die and having empathy for Snake's internal struggle.
Things like empathy, humility sorrow and joy are things that should be passed on (especially arrogant teenagers) they were even more intense than in a fim because we were the actors. In a nutshell, MGS has always been more about the story and the consequences of your action (war).I am not saying that playing FPS will turn you into a violent psycho but teenagers ususally can't think for themselves by being so narrow minded and following the flow.
Regarding the setting… oh come on its pretty obvious unless you have been living under a cave.
