Neither will we.
But Naruto somehow gets dubbed on tv. SIGH
the only way we get Strong World is thanks to a fansub forum which was able to put it in a cinema

In a film festival, the organizers ask to a subber to give them the fansubs for the film. that subber is from a fansub forum, so we get a cinema version of the fansubbed Strong World
I don't know if anyone has posted this because i am afraid to go through the thread cause of spoilers.I am wondering if you know if any fansubs are going to sub the movie? I checked yibis forums but i didnt find if they are subbing the movie.

Groups are most likely waiting for a better quality. Like the DVD/Blue-ray release, but I think there'll someone to sub the "sample" edition which might or might not appear sometime.
I can definetely say that this film is way better than strong world.
! Unlike strong world, film Z develops Zephyr's character through other marines in the film and not through a special volume. It was kinda lame that Garp and Sengoku were pretty pointless in SW. The last sequence was moving because Z's sacrifice pretty much echoed his childhood because he was loyal to himself and died happy. What a beautiful way to end it all. Film Z should be in the canon and Z
If this movie comes out first with Spanish subtitles, let me know and I can translate every sentence and then give someone the script so that someone can add them to the video.
Guess what just got nominated for the Japan Academy Awards' Best Animated Picture of the Year….
Does One Piece movies ever get into the theatres other than Japan's? It sucks having to wait like half a year to watch it subbed :/

That's a quick sort-of follow-up to what we heard last week. Not surprising that this is the first non-Asian country "Film Z" has been announced for (as far as I know); "One Piece" is pretty damn popular in France.

The French are so lucky! Everyone in France, you have to see it and show Toei that there are enough fans outside Japan who want to see this movie! Then I hope that we´ll get an even wider release! Damn, I´m so exited!

Wonder if the smartphone special will be on the BD when it comes out since no one is nice enough to upload it to the internet.
New record.
One Piece Film Z sold over 5.240.000 tickets and earned 6.300 billion yen (about US$69.38 million).

Boxofficemojo says that it made even more: 6,552,837,671 yen! But I don´t know which record it broke, I mean it has surpassed Strong World long time ago so I assume they mean another record, or did I misunderstand something?

OP is really popular in France so this news doesn't have any bearing on a US release. I'm sure we'll get it but not any time that soon.
One piece is popular but the voices are shitty and you know the most popular manga in France is naruto (all moron) cc @foxy signature
Won't come to US theaters. Probably come to DVD in a year or so. Thank 4kids for killing all interest for OP in the US.

If they killed all of the interest then Funimation wouldn't have picked OP up

"Naruto" is very popular in France, yes, but actually it was mentioned on a recent English NHK T.V. program (which there's a link to on this thread) that "One Piece" is the best-selling manga in France.

Oh c'mon I'm seriously tired of people bringing up 4Kids. Their treatment of the series definitely hurt its reputation and success here, but all things considered "One Piece" is doing pretty well in America. It's not huge, but it's among the most popular anime in American fandom.The DVDs are selling well, well enough that FUNimation acquired two more seasons of it before Season 4 is even close to finishing. It's one of the highest-rated shows on Neon Alley that isn't dub premieres. A Toei rep told me at Anime Expo that viewership has gone up. I definitely feel it's gaining on "Bleach" in popularity. I mean really the only thing that's holding back its full potential for success is that the FUNimation dub isn't on Toonami or Nicktoons or something.
Given FUNimation's history with theatrical releases, I'd be shocked if "Strong World" and "Film Z" don't get a limited theatrical release in America. And yes even a limited theatrical release is very good for an anime movie. "Evangelion", "Trigun Badlands Rumble", "Summer Wars", and "FMA Star of Milos" all came out in American theaters, and there's definitely more hype for the "One Piece" movies than those.
Pourqoi est-ce que j'ai dû déménager en Belgique? ;_;
Anyways doesn't surprise me we got strong world in france as well.

What i say is that naruto is far more know than one piece by casual reader but the strong fan are definitely those of one piece but naruto is more known like "oh yeah naruto I see what you're saying" and about one piece it's or "i se a bit of it it seems really weird : a robot-guy and a racoon what the f*ck ? :blink:" or "Yeah you're a one piece fan welcome in our clan ! :ninja:"

Pas grave tu fais 50 km et tu trouve un ciné en france non ?
@OPF:

Thanks! So One Piece really is getting more popular around the world, and taking the fact that Naruto (and hopefully Bleach also) is going to end soon (though I think with the lame pacing both series have the last arc might go on for another 3-4 years or even longer), One Piece does have the potential to do as well as Naruto, or let´s say, at least as well or better than Bleach. I really hope that we can get a release soon!
I don't think "One Piece" will surpass or reach the level of "Naruto's" popularity, but I already feel like it's surpassing "Bleach". Actually, overall worldwide I don't know how "One Piece" and "Bleach" compare in popularity.
But even if "One Piece" will remain below "Naruto", that may not matter in the long run because "One Piece" has longevity. "Naruto" is coming to a conclusion, but "One Piece" won't end anytime soon. As long as "One Piece" remains consistently popular over the coarse of its long run (and hopefully grows), it could really pay off.
And hey, I mean there are plenty of people who's only anime they watch is "Naruto". I'm guessing when "Naruto" ends a lot of them will just move on, but perhaps a portion of them will say, "Hm now that Naruto's over I could go for another anime. I've been on the fence because it looks weird, but I keep hearing good things about One Piece…"
I don't think "One Piece" will surpass or reach the level of "Naruto's" popularity
Maybe not in the USA, but worldwide it sure will surpass Naruto sooner or later. In many european countries (France, Germany and maybe even Italy) and in Taiwan it has already surpassed Naruto and I´m not sure about China, Hong Kong, Indonesia and many other asian countries, but I guess it´s on par with Naruto there, maybe even more popular as well, considering the cinema release of Film Z. And like you said, One Piece is consistent in quality and won´t end any time soon, whereas Naruto is coming to an end (and keeps getting worse).
I don´t need to start with Bleach because outside the USA and UK, it´s not that popular and well known, at least it by far doesn´t reach the popularity of One Piece^^
It´s just that One Piece will NEVER reach the level of Dragon Ball. But that´s fine by me, I absolutely love Dragon Ball.
In a sense far as anime goes "Naruto" is distinctly an American phenomenon. It has a lot going for it that makes it particularly appealing to an American audience. But yeah, even if it never reaches "Naruto" level in the U.S.A. I think it's going to slowly get more popular.

Funimation picked up two more seasons? So, we get to Thriller Bark too than right? Thats awesome news on my part
I love how much more popular One Piece is getting, maybe sooner or later NickToons TV will get the rights to it with all the money the Z film is getting and being nominated for best anime picture, they'd be insane to pass that up right? FYI, with movie 10 getting dubbed we could get Z next :happy:
I am loving all this news…
Haven't some of these movies been known to get screening in Hawaii from time to time? Strong World got a Hawaii screening in 2010.
Hey can anybody tell me if Film Z has been subbed yet? Even if its that crappy cam version.
It hasn't. I really don't think anyone's going to try subbing a whole movie with such poor quality to work with.
@Joe:

If that horrid Alabasta film can make it to US theaters then anything is possible. Plus FUNi's really good with getting theatrical releases for their movies, though limited of course.
most of the anime fans around the world are lazy ppl they hate reading subs
so one piece won't beat naruto over populatity till the marine ford arc gets dubbed which'd take years
actually i m pretty glad naruto is popular bcoz lots of ppl get in long series bcoz of naruto and then they want something better so take one piece and one piece gets a 30 % more fans the rest r just bothered with the animation
but yes one piece will beat every other anime by within 5-8 yrs that includes dbz over popularity
i'm happy for me among the french people for this good news _o/
but it seems weird that toei would make a french translation without english translation,
because you have a lot of movie festival around the world to present the movie, and this festivals are usually international, meaning the english is the basic language in this case, this is good publicity for a film after all.
so they will be a version with english subtitles for sure, but i think there aren't usa/UK release date yet, because the offers are still in discussion.
In france, toei europe have a full control of the anime licence, so they do what they want, and only one distributor (kaze) have the right to exploit the anime and make french translation, so the decision can be pretty fast and smooth (but i agree the popularity of the manga in france help a lot in the decision),
it's not the same case in the usa, the licence is share between funimation, 4kids (maybe others i don't know), so the deal can take more time.
for the UK people, i don't know XD.
4Kids has had nothing to do with the One Piece license since 2007. Toei would only have to work with FUNimation.
In France all the marineford arc has been dubbed.
But you still seems to think one piece is more popular than naruto in France as a French I can say it's not … Not yet :ninja:
Huh I'm pretty sure the film will be released in japanese dub (with french subtitles, of course)
And who cares about Naruto or One Piece or my grandmother having the biggest one, One Piece IS very popular, yup, that's all that matter in the end.
@Chibi JFZ:

Does that mean that Toei made English subs for Strong World before it was published in France? I didn´t know that, I thought since the movie still isn´t out yet in North America or the UK, they also didn´t translate it.
Which reminds me of something: Wasn´t Strong World part of some movie festival? Which one was is again? And do we have any chances that Film Z will be shown at any festivals as well?
@OPF:

In France Strong World was presented in Annecy International Animated Film Festival and it was a great success. That's why Strong World was diffused in theaters in France. It was also an unexpected success even if it was only show in few theaters.
I think this is the reason of the release of the film Z in France only few months after the Japan. This is really amazing.
I just hope that they will diffuse the film Z in more theaters this time and in more cities.
@Shûsui:
In France all the marineford arc has been dubbed.
They are actually already in Fishman Island, the episodes are diffused on MCM. And they did a good job, the quality of the dubbing has been improved.
Also the episodes of One Piece are diffused every day on D17, a national French TV. I really think it helped to make One Piece more popular in France.

This is awesome, I really envy you guys! Do you have dubbed openings or dubbed insert songs (like Binks no sake or "New World" from Brook)?

Me I envy you for the Shonen Jump Alpha ^^ Unfortunately the only dubbed song we have, if i remember correctly, it's le Bon Rhum de Binks (Binks no sake), really good :
I actually read somewhere once that France is the biggest market for anime and manga outside of Asia, so I'm not surprised is getting such a big push there. That doesn't make "One Piece's" success any less impressive ;).
I heard though that there was another French dub that came out years ago that was shitty. I haven't seen any clips though, is it true?

But wow, the Binks no sake dub is really beautiful! I know it´s not the right thread to ask, but is this song dubbed in any other language besides of French?
