This happened a few days ago but I forgot to tell about it…
I was on my way to home from the bus stop when I saw something that made my eyes stretch slightly out of my head: in a nearby field there was a huge inflatable hall that I had never seen before. I had no idea why it was there, but I shrugged and walked on.
A few minutes later I noticed an old man walking slowly in front of me and I'd catch up with him in no time. I also recognized the man. It was this one guy who lives in a small house with his wife, a five minutes' walk away from my home. It's located on the street that leads to the bus station and the primary & secondary schools of my hometown, so I've been walking past his house practically every day for the last 13 years. As if that wasn't enough, directly next to his house is my old (now empty and abandoned) kindergarten, so I've known him for a very long time, from my point of view at least. My first memory of him is when he used to talk with the kindergarten workers over the fence when I was something like 5-6 years old, and like said, I've seen him more or less regularly ever since then.
We were in fact just going to walk past his house, so I assumed he was going to turn from the road and enter his frontyard. And that he did. But as I walked past him, he suddenly spoke to me and asked if I had seen the inflatable hall in the field. He said he was just coming back from investigating it, and I told him I had also wondered what the thing was. He had found out it was a new temporary sport hall for the winter.
He also told me he had just skied 53 km even though he's 76 years old, and we chatted about sports and stuff for a while, until he went inside his house and I walked on. Then it suddenly hit me that I had just spoken with him for the very first time even though I've known him practically for my whole life and he must have seen me grow up, too. So strange. But I don't complain, you can never have enough friends~ Hopefully we'll talk again sooner or later.
