I received the SA Chopper Kyuupin convention exclusive FAZ today, he's small but awesome. I'll take some pics tonight. Got some WCFs aswell. Everything seems to come on the same day, got 3 packages from Japan and Black Ops 2 to boot.
Oh, how did you get that Chopper? I got the one from pre-SA that's looking happy and he's great. I gave him Janice's tamborine and he's rocking out with Brook and the Electric Mayhem lol
He was at BIJ and I think at Manda too
He was up on BIJ for 2-3 weeks for pre-order. I ordered him within a couple days of him going up, came to $35. Double the money compared to his reg FAZ but after seeing how the Starry Eyed POP went way up in price I decided F it.
No Alina, like I stated I don't regret my collection either… just being more selective about it, got other things on my plate to pay for now :P
I feel like we're all making that general transition, or the "next step" get a house, car, raise a family etc. Figure collecting will still be a part of my life even when I have a wife etc, just not the forefront. But no way is she stopping me, lol.

I finally scored a Neo Nami she is on the way to me thanks largely in part to 2D3Y, with her in my lineup I feel strangley complete…
I will still keep collecting OP, but MH needs to start releasing some new interesting "wow" stuff and not just 1.5 repaints and different coloured Hancocks...

At Alina, I do love collecting, and enjoy them as the first day (even more if posible). I can't wait to have my own place and build a custom shelfs to finally display my unboxed figures I own. But as Raithos says, I'm also being more selective and thinking twice before preordering. 1UP has help me tons with that, since he has the preorders up for a while (plus cheap prices).
I guess a lot of us are at a similar point in life, trying to save for a house, getting a better job, having kids. I'm sure children force you to prioritize, or probably make you not even care about your figures as all of you has been rerouted into loving your child ^_^.
Yeah i´m also trying to save for a house, but i still order abit per month… not very much... but i save about 60% of the salary... rest is bills and figures. And right now im lucky with a nice paying job but i need to save some more and Megahouse does it hard for me... if my bank goes back some months and check my transactions... they gonna go... what the hell is wrong with you?

Damn that Chopper and Fukouru looks pretty good. Kinda want both lol. Alvida was the first WCF I bought and was disappointed out of the box. Mainly because her head was a completely different colour to the body (I think this was when they first changed the materials?)
i'm thinking of preordering only the figure i'm thinking it would be hard to get like the one piece POP but for the rest i would take them when they get released, i always end up with tons of figures preordered when i'm not sure about my financial state :/
i still enjoy my hobby though :D

I was quite selective since I started this hobby because I can't afford that much and I don't have a big space (although from 2011 to the next years I will need one urgently or keep some figures in their boxes because it is expanding). I'm also in the "no regret" group but I want to see more new releases. I hope this Megahobby and Jump Festa I see interesting releases (Tashigi SA with an extra Smoker face FTW!!) as they will start the Punk Hazard arc in the anime soon.

lol in FAZ zero i have Zoro, Mihawk and Ace, they looks nice but that's all i have and that is all i will take in FAZ collection, may be the special zoro repaint if the price is good but i'm more interest in POP version and MBH/WCF.
I scored 4 WCFs off Manda for $8.25usd each total. I'll take that any day. Something like the boxes were taped because of damages. Hopefully nothing is wrong with the actual figures. Definitely have to check Manda everyday anymore heh. Got fake Nami, Whitebeard, Shakky and Killer. My WCF collection is exploding in size as of late.
yeah if you're lucky you can get some WCF cheap. Shakky and some of the others in that set you can get for like 200 yen each now.
Indeed, I paid 900yen for Carifa off HLJ during their sale and yet I could of bought her for 300yen with the lot I mentioned. :/
When you factor in 900+shipping+customs I paid I would have been alot better off with Manda. I don't mind paying 990 or whatever on new releases but for quite a few you can get cheaper off Manda if you wait a couple weeks to a month. I missed out on Water7 Fanky and yet I scored him last week on Manda for 600yen.
Only issue with Manda is I have to buy 2 totaling no more then 1300 yen with the fee to be feasible. My goal is no more then $15 total each, anymore than that on WCFs isn't worth it in my opinion.

The new WCFs are gorgeous! Love Perona, she is crazy cute. She looks alot better from a distance but the detail is very good. Boa is very nice aswell.

I still hate that glossy plastic of new WCF. The sculpt is good but the material is meh.
It ended up making the figures looking cheap.
I think only WCF Fans Polling Volume escaped this bad material issue. Last night opened Killer and Duval and they're as good as the early 5 volumes of WCF. They use different PVC material. Why can't Banpresto use the same material for these latest WCF? It will make them far better.
They use better material for the IK Kyun Chara too. It's very sad that WCF, their money making lines should have a treatment like this from Banpresto.

Hanging out on this thread is really making me want to start buying some WCFs, but I don't really see them around much on any of the sites I frequent. Even Amazon and eBay have limited character selection, and I don't really like Manadarake much. Can anyone recommended any stores that keep WCFs stocked (not just pre-orders)?

The only part I see even a tiny bit of fault is the line where his shirt meets his left backpack strap, other than that the paint is applied evenly all throughout the figure

I really like my Chopper GLM a lot.
Don't have any complaints with my GLM so far either other than Luffy's sash should be a vibrant rich yellow and not gold.
Just need to get Brook, Franky and Robin and I'll have them all in GLM ver. too.

Banpresto, bandai and megahouse prototypes will always come out different in the market/shops.
For sales/shops ones are being mass produced in the factory's while prototype are being produced in-house and probably also being coloured by the sculpture :-0
But i do have to give banpresto props becouse there products arent suppose to be for retail but just cheap figures for game/ufo center, and the come out 9 out of 10 ten times better than bandai figures :-0
Also banpresto figures are really cheaply produced figures wich cost game/ufo centers about $5 or less to buy in, but so many middle mans in the retail business hike up the prices and what not what it really worth is.

This. Actually they can use this cheap material too for the prototype at Prize Fair and then we would adjust our expectation. At least we shall know they're "cheap" from the beginning.
Having artist painted the prototype and mass labor painted the final product is a different thing with having a different material for prototype and final product. It's basically cheating the customer, isn't it? It's like mentioning a product shall be made from gold but selling it made from silver.

Nah, the secret about Killer looking good is the non existent skin of his. As long as the figure is an animal or anything that doesn't have a skin, it's still looking good. (Carue, Oz, Baroque Dog, South Bird, Pierre, etc)

And since they don't paint the skin anymore, but let the material itself do the job, it looks shit. Which means if I was able to paint my WCF properly, they would look awesome again.

makes sense really. I guess it explains how most WCF Chopper turn out looking ok. But you REALLY need to go back to school if you can screw up a Chopper figure.
And yeah maybe I was just unlucky with Chopper. At least, much like the WCF and FAZ he looks fine once displayed he looks good…if a little lonely. But my problem is that this is the third GL figure I've bought and kept. And the third with something major wrong with it. Easy to see how I'm less than optimistic about the line in general, especially when Robin and Olvia are around the corner.

It's not different. ESPECIALLY not Shakky. Trust me on that one. Same material. Would be a hella stupid idea to use a different material for one certain volume. Changing the whole production procedure for one certain volume. Check out some Shakky WCF pics here on board, you can instantly tell it has the crappy material.

Yeah, I think it was already announced that the book was going to come separately, but that Nami would only be available with the book.
So that’s the best part of 8,200 yen for Nami alone, plus the huge EMS shipping price for those getting them together. If she goes up for any less 10,000 yen on Mandarake then you'll be better off buying them individually and having them bothed shipped SAL small packet. (That is if the book on it's own ships SAL of course)
Glad I cancelled this now. Just hoping for scans when the book is released. It’ll be published in Japanese anyway so will need a good translation of Oda’s interview. I’m interested to hear what his favourite POP’s are and whether he owns any, hehe

I think Dan was simply pointing out that whenever someone shows off a new figure, or a new figure is shown it ends up with pages of discussion of people talking about how this line is a sucky quality or how that line used to be good but isn't now. Its happening pretty often :/ More than discussions about new figures in general XD

It gets to the point on here where there is so much complaining, that it gets tiring to read. My goal with these forums is just to have fun and share my enjoyment of these figures. Thats why I post pictures but to each their own. I'm not trying to tell anyone how to use these forums or whatever. My only comment is it sure can get negative on here.
I don't mean to bring down anyone with the negativity.. but I can't help but be disappointed because I remember when WCFs really did look close to the prototype. Even if I wasn't expecting a brilliant figure I was still surprised in a bad way, especially after spending the proxy fees and whatnot. When she arrives I'll happily proclaim if she looks better in person, but she'll be compared to some early sets so we'll see about that. ;)
Hey, I've got a question for the P.O.P. collectors.
I just got around to opening my Strong World Brook POP I've had sitting around since summer, and I'm having an issue with him I'm trying to trouble-shoot. I can't seem to get his jaw to open and close and stay in place at all. In fact, when I try to open it with my fingers it's resisting me and trying to stay shut. I don't see any joint anywhere on the jaw, so I'm not sure exactly how it's supposed to work. It clearly shows Brook with a fully-open mouth on the box–can that actually be achieved?
Also, is Strong World Brook's head on a ball-joint that can be popped off from the body? I thought he might be easier to work with if it is, but I also don't want to break his head off if it's not meant to be removed.
Can anybody help me out?

I like first release's Hair the best, but she's shorter than the other two and is kinda pink. Neo's I like the colour of her clothes the best. Repaint has a slightly adjusted face, her mouth isn't as open now and her lips look better, I really prefer this skin tone too instead of the too dark tanned version. Also her shoes are Black instead of Purple.
So in total its taken three figures to do. Now we need a fourth version with first's hair, Neo's clothes and shoes and Repaint's skin colour and tweaks….and I know I'll buy her once again. [/hide]
