Combined with your sig, I'm as sick as Kirby XD
Bloody cake. -
After seeing this guy edit Animated Toys into Beast Wars characters, I just had to make my own versions. I really liked where he went with a lot of them, but I thought they were more he could do but it would be easier drawn instead of custimzing toys. I did ask if he minded if I id designs loosely based off his toys.
His Megatron is a really cool edit off Grimlock with a Megatron head. I wanted to take it a few steps further. I made mine more like Transmetal Megatron, and edited the Grimlock head to have less of an overbite. I made his chest wider and his body overall taller to make him more menacing. I also gave his chest pseudo eyes, again to make him closer to Transmetal version. I did color another one to make it closer to his design, but I think there might be too much purple.
His Inferno is an edit off of Waspinator. I took the design further by adding the ant legs to the arms and legs, similar to the Beast War's toy. I also expanded his chest like the beast wars version.
His Dinobot is a recolor of Lockdown. Its really popular for transformers to have very similar molds, and its really popular to recolor each of them for the sake of easiness. But I wanted to edit Lockdown a bit further before I could call him Dinobot. I got rid of the hook hand (its detachable in the toy). And added small details to give you a closer feel to Beast Wars version, again pseudo eyes on the chest and rip cage. He's the only one out of the three that has a vehicle mode… I'm going to have a rapture skull on the hood of the car instead of the giant engine.

Cleaned up Megs a bit more.

As you may know or may not know I graduated from college in December, but our school is weird and I just walked haha.

I'm doing a 30 Day drawing challenge. I probably won't post them all in here for sake of bandwith, but here's a the first;
Day 1 - Self Portrait (Total Time: 30 minutes) -
I must say I adore your ability to draw such great portraits of yourself. I don't think I'd ever manage to draw myself into comic style.
-
Today's challenge was to do a mystical creature. I did a Puca which are creatures that can turn into dogs, rabbits, goats, and horses.
-
Wow, I LOVE your art! Especially the ukelele gif and your self portrait! I really like the texture of the brush strokes. Do you use Photoshop?
-
Holy smokes man! You're a fantastic artist!
I mean, I sorta knew that as I had seen some of your work in the Community thread, but flipping through this I was in awe.
And you do art for Bowling for Soup? That's awesome. Did you do the art on their latest CD? Do I have some of your artwork sitting in my room right now? If so that's freaking awesome!
Love your work man! I shall be purchasing something soon! Most likely that Justice Friends poster, and maybe that Annie one, just depends on how confident I am that I'll be able to proudly display it without being judged.
-
Day 3's challenge is redo the cover to your first CD. Mine was Digimon the Movie OST. I'm kinda busy with other stuff today so I did something quick.Wow, I LOVE your art! Especially the ukelele gif and your self portrait! I really like the texture of the brush strokes. Do you use Photoshop?
I use Photoshop. For the portrait I used the Chunky Chalk Brush. 90% of the time I use the default brush for everything, but sometimes I like to experiment.

I've done numerous stuff for Bowling for soup, at least 1 thing per year. My work has appeared in Sorry For Partyin' and I did all the album art for Fishing for Woos.
Also Thanks :D!

For the Arrested Development fans. For a bigger view check out the Devart version. Also today's drawing challenge. It was favorite Muppet, I choose a Ninja Turtle, it counts.

Day 5
Favorite Band/Singer, at the moment I'm really digging Marina and the Diamonds.

Anyone ever seen Cleopatra 2525? I watched it on Hulu. Its apparently a TV show from 2000's about a stripper who goes in to get a boob job, but she wakes up from the anesthesia 500 years in the future where man kind now lives underground. Where she meets up with a resistance group trying to retake Earth's surface from techno-organic robots.
Its not a show that'll win many feminist over. While the females all are strong characters, there's stuff feminist might not like; ie Metal Bikini's. Though its lampshaded through out the beginning episodes;
"You really care about your looks don't you." ~ Sarge (the tough one.. the Ralph if you will)
"And your showing off your midriff for what?" ~Cleo (the stripper lol) -

The Staff of 9GAG contacted me last month about doing animation for the site, from what it sounded like was if I did a good job on a "test" animation I would be hired to do animation full time for them. Sounded pretty sweet.
They gave me a comic and told me to make an animation out of it. Which you can see above. Apparently the comic was their Happy Panty Land comic where they make stories out of popular memes from 4chan. I actually had no clue I was animated Bad Luck Brian in-till after I did the animation. Apparently the girl is Overly Attached Girlfriend, again didn't know.
After 4 days of constantly working on this, I was told that they had a team meeting and changed their minds on making the animation. While I am not upset with their decision, I was rather upset that they changed their minds after I had done all the work, and offered no compensation for my efforts.

Started doing some basic animation for my iphone game :D

Promotional piece for Failing Upwards a cartoon I'm helping out. Check out more information on their facebok!

Starting this month I decided I wanted to make a piece of fan art dedicated to each game I play. Which I don't play as many as I used too, so it won't be too daunting of a task. The first is a Punch Time Explosion XL for the 360. I didn't buy it, a friend loaned too me, knowing I love Cartoon Network.
Because its basically Super Smash Bros: Brawl, I decided to recreate the cover but with the CNPTEXL characters instead. I'm actually really happy how this game out, especially for only spending the day on it.
Like I said its basically Brawl but with Cartoon Network characters. Its got an interesting roaster but characters like Captain Planet and Ben 10 stick out, compared to the more stylized characters the rest of the roaster make up. And there's a lot of characters I would think be shoe-ins aren't in it such as Finn, Jake, Scooby, Courage, the Ed's, and various other characters.
The actual game-play is as strong as Brawls, and each characters plays as their own. There's been a lot of opportunity to cut cost with clones but even both version of Ben 10 and the Powerpuff Girls play differently.
The real shame is this has a lot of potential of being a good game. But there's a bunch of minor problems that add up to really knock it down. Mostly the terrible/repetitive voice work, poor storymode animation, and most importantly the terrible menu logic.
Regardless, its worth playing through the story mode at least once.
-
and yet you're sure you don't work for Cartoon Network.
…..
-
I would love to work for Cartoon Network, maybe when I'm better established I'll apply.

Deadman Wonderland fan art.

Gravity Falls?

Guess who animated Zoidberg?

The evolution of Timber.

Jon tron and PBG.Also a really long blog post about my experiences with 9gag and memes.
-
I am so sorry about you having to deal with 9gag. A couple years ago the site did actually have original content. These days it's all copy and paste memes with a joke you've heard a thousand times.
I must say though, I actually really liked the Creepy Thom Yorke comic. The design for him was fantastic. Nothing against your original idea for it, but I think that since you were using the song lyrics having Yorke in made it perfect. I wish that the song's music video was what you made.
-
I appreciate that you actually read it. Its kind of a long read, and took forever to write to keep it objective and not whiny or bitter.
I don't hate 9GAG or the people run it. I don't like that all that much for personal experiences; I mostly don't like them because I don't like myself, if that make sense? I should've been smarter, and its more my fault. And its hard to not stay bitter when you put 30+ hours of your life into things, and you're not even rewarded for it. With the idea of compensation, they offered a "sorry'.
They wanted me to do things, but they never gave me a direction or forethought into letting me know what they wanted. And kept okaying pre-production stages, and then waited to a later stage of the process to make changes they should've done in earlier.
With the Thom Yorke comic, if you're main goal of the comic is to portray Thom Yorke in a way his fans would like; that should have been note one. Not revision four. I don't know if its their inexperience with working with freelancers, but I'm very happy I didn't go further with them.
Especially after finding out that their other original content was Happy Panty Land.
On an unrelated note; legs!

Doing that draw yourself in art styles people suggest thing on Tumblr. The only one I got so far was Megas XLR.

^Favorite one so far.
You are going to tackle Mystery Incorporated eventually right?
-
I'm only doing ones that people send me in a message on tumblr.
-
Oh, you're doing that too? I got a few myself. Although one request I got was a little… difficult. I'm still trying to figure out how to draw it. lol
You really did capture the styles well~
Makes me wish my tablet worked. -
Thanks, which are styles have you gott'n so far?
I also got Simpsons and Adventure time, but haven't had time to do the Adventure time one.
-
Thanks, which are styles have you gott'n so far?
Actual styles? Xiaolin Showdown and Phineas and Ferb. But I've gotten two that aren't specific. One was 'draw yourself as a Harry Potter student in the house you'd be in doing something you'd like' and the other is 'draw yourself as an Avenger'
I'm still trying to work on the 'draw yourself as an Avenger' because I'm not.. Avenger material. lol For lack of better words.

This is a pretty nice milestone for me while working on ANIMEME. Up to this point I had only created and animated templates with mouth and slight facial animation, nothing too impressive or exciting. Yea, the main episodes would be made up of prominently my work, but again they're just lip syncing so it wasn't all too exciting.
I started adding more to these starting with a previous Bad Time compilation episode. I mostly tweaked a few things like the character reading Hunger Games before talking about how comparing the books to the movies will cause a bad time; or when he mentions transformers the next transition would be a parody of the Transformers scene transitions with the symbols.
Not every joke comes out the way I personally conceive them. I usually get an note back from the high up to change things. Originally I animated the Friend's joke to end with Forever Alone siting on the Friend's couch crying as "I'll be there for you" plays. Then the lights go out. Instead we went with the more on the nose joke with the DVD's.
But, for your viewing pleasure, here's an animated gif of the deleted/alternate scene!

When I'm not working on AniMeme, and when I'm pushing back Failing Upward I am working on a music video. Its super low budget, has fast deadline and is my least liked genre aside from Country, rap. I'm not huge on the concept, but money is money at the moment. I'm sure this will be that this video is going to be that video that people pull up from my past.
The top is the revised storyboard to final look of the shot, and the second is a really cheaply animated girl dancing. Instead of even FLASH animated it, I just colored the image in photoshop and warped it in After effects to give off the impression her hips are wiggling.
-
Do you still do commissions? I'm extremely sorry that the last time you PM'd me I didn't respond but now I have all my money in order and I'd really, really appreciate it if we could try to strike something up again.
I just want a character portrait drawn.
-
Not at the moment, I will probably in a month or so after some of the gigs I'm doing are over.
-
Sure thing.
I'll be waiting patiently.~
-
Thanks, I appreciate it!
-
Speaking of commissions, do you do things like costume design and/or art direction?
-
I can, I've never been asked before.
-
Took a break from animating to draw up a cartoon version of Lisa Foiles (All That, Game Station, Escapist Magazine). I think she's adorable and enjoy her energy, but I do wish she had more than goofy sexy gamer chick.
. -
Ooooh, I really like her design.
-
So, I'm currently talking to a few friends about starting a Youtube Channel where the three of us produce three animated shorts bi-weekly. Each of us would try to produce a humongous 1 minute short every other week. In the week though we would have a day dedicated to each contributor, like Guttamind's Guttamondays and I would take Steven's Saturdays.
While I'm super busy now, I've been doodling here and there and writing up concepts for series. I will probably spend the first few months doing 1-offs of series I would to see as series, but will probably experiment more with styles and ideas before settling down on just one. I currently have 5 ideas I would like to experiment with. One being an pixelated sitcom called Pixel n Bits.
I did this mock up of what I would like to see the main female lead look like, Bitsy;
Like I said, at-least my section would be bi-weekly. But I will probably still upload a video per week with a speed paint of something the followers suggested as a filler. So my schedule would look like;
Week 1: Animated Short
Week 2: Speed Paint
Week 3: Animated Short
Week 4: Speed Paintingetc etc.
As I stated, this is still being talked about with my friends and nothing is set in stone. Though if it doesn't go through, I'll probably wind up doing this on my own anyways.
At the moment I've got some really neat stuff plan for it.
-
Sorry about not being very active, my schedule was kicking my ass. But I'm finally done with that rap video… I don't think I'm going to do another one-man animated music video again. Because of deadlines I wasn't able to get the video as polished as I normally would it like it to be. But hey, I was doing my least like genre of music with a message I didn't like...so artistic integrity was already ruined by the get-go.
To be fair for one guy who had one month, and already had too much on his plate... it looks pretty damn good. Kind of proud, because last week I did a poster for a YouTube group, half the animation for animeme, another Bowling for Soup album cover (only a single, but still cool!) and a bunch of various of things.
Enough of that. So below is that youtuber poster I did. Its for JSTUstudios, which according to their page is "Comedy at its finest". They basically do public pranks in stores n' stuff. They've got a pretty hardcore following so much so that one of them actually hand written a small short story book for them. I think they have an audience of a very young age group.. just guessing by the hand written part. I'm amazed at how many small-yet huge youtube groups I've never heard of but been around for ever.
OH YEA! I started running small contest on my Facebook page, I've got an app that selects a follower who comments/likes post on my page and win "Fan of the week". Though I perfer to call it Follower of the Week. Winners get a quick free "sketch". Like the first winner Caysea who asked for a cut figure of her;
-
Written and voiced by Gary Trimarchi, animated by me!On unrelated news, the second Follower of the Week sketch;
