I consider video games with simple objectives true video games (whether that be Angry Birds, Street Fighter, Madden, or Final Fantasy 1), while I consider video games that can forge an emotional connection with the player, or put them in awe like a great book or movie to be considered true art as high as movies, books, music, etc. As books are special in the sense that they allow you to imagine things by simple words, and movies are special in that they provide an exclusive visual experience with the most state of the art, expensive tech, video games with a heavy emphasis on story or emotion should be considered a form of art (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Xenogears, Final Fantasy 2 and onward, Journey, Okami, etc.), as they provide the interactivity aspect.

snort Art isn't about exclusively interactivity, but about the experience one grasps from beholding the art (where interactivity is only a PART of the experience). One has their own different "experiences" that evokes a particular feelings incited by previous memories (within the conscious or unconscious) or exciting the senses.
Much like how these primitive games evoke the imagination due to the abstract-ness of their presentation in result of limited hardware.

Exactly, who knows what madness is behind the limitations imposed by pixels? Those programmers may have been light hearted goofballs or dark, sinister madmen that poured their mad ravings into these games but only came out as mere squares across the screen. What were they trying to convey? Is there some sort of meaning behind these combination of dots?Do not open, lest your sanity shall flee from you~
For gazing upon this visage is a thousandfold more destructe than dwelling within the many folds of Cthulu's buttcheeks…
Madness lies within.!

THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT.
I meant that the same way Books allow you to visualize and picture those words of the story, and movies allow you to see the story in it's entirety without you having to visualize, video games add the ability to allow you to be interactive with the story.
That's what I meant.
