That image bugs the shit out of me. Not only are the three characters (Jin, Kazuya, and Ryu) using poses from previous games, but they are EXACTLY the same as those previous poses. It feels like they were copied and pasted onto there. A part of me feels this is fake, but isn't this official advertisement?
At the same time, Capcom did this with Marvel vs Capcom 3 with Captain Commando.
Clank is his own character rather than being a part of Ratchet as well.
As are Jin, Ratchet, Kazuya, and Ryu Hayabusa.
They carelessly forgot to include Akira Yuki from Virtua Fighter.
Clank won't be his own character, if that were true so would Daxter. Tuesday needs to get here fast. Gamescom they are supposed to reveal 3-4 characters.

Clockw0rk the community manager at SB said the only Tekken characters in the game are Heihachi and Kuma which is art of his super. So either the site was hacked or those were very early placeholder type images.
Characters shown were Sackboy, Dante, Spike and Ratchet and Clank. Also Sony announced cross buy so if you buy the ps3 version of allstars,the new sly cooper ect… you get the vita version for free.
Love Spike's level 1 super and entrance. Next announcements should be…Sir Daniel, that girl from heavenly sword and two other characters I don't recognise (if the 'leaked' picture speaks truthful).

Then again, I am going to assume this game isn't fully intended as a tribute to classic playstation(2) games such as like the original Devil May Cry titles (it does in some aspects such as by adding some PSX characters, but that doesn't seem to be its focal point). Otherwise we wouldn't nearly all of the cast members.

They (Insomniac/Naughty Dog) shouldn't have given up Spyro or Crash in the first place, if they were still owned by their respective companies we wouldn't have this problem now. Supposedly the reason why Insominac sold off Spyro was because he didn't have hands and couldn't hold things (yet he's shown holding a drink glass in an ad) and that they had no intention on going forth with the series, despite Spyro as a whole being constructed in a way that any even can take place and it would make since do to the random nature of the series.

He had several gadgets. The net was the main one to actually catch those monkeys, but the other ones were just as useful. PASBR seems to have included the helicopter gadget, the RC car, slingshot, and a lot of the lightsaber. Frankly, I'm psyched, loved this game as a kid.

He doesn't turn into 'real' Dante. That's just his super form, which just gives him white hair and have his jacket glow red.

They gave up Spyro and Crash because they felt they had no where else to go with the series. It led them to Jax and Uncharted, both of which have been quite successful. It sucks, I agree, but we can't really do anything about it. Lara Croft, even, is currently owned by Square Enix, so unless Square wants to offer Lara (and hopefully a Final Fantasy character), we're basically fucked.
And you're right about the Big Daddies. Not much we can do about that. They should have just put Alpha in the game though. ….Then again, majority of people hate Bioshock 2 and the Bouncer is far more memorable in the series.

I agree with this post. Also, while it's hyped up to be a thing about doing anything the fans want and making them happy, in the end it's also a strategy to get people to care more about the franchises Playstation has. People who buy this game to play as nathan drake and don't know crap about DMC may be more interested in the new one coming out from seeing awesome Dante gameplay in All-Stars.
Same goes for all others. If they include classic series there's a chance for Sony to revive them and expect a better popular reception.
I agree with others that Tomba would be an insanely fun character to play as. Had good times with those games.

SSB helped bring Fire Emblem to the west. And I think it likely helped Mother sales too. I know I hadn't heard of the series before it (but wasn't out here so). Ice Climbers, Mario Bros, Zelda etc all got a re-release on the GBA due to Melee too I tink.

Melee had Roy in the game pretty much based on the fact that he was the lord of the most recent Fire Emblem installment in Japan. It's almost the same situation as with this Dante. Don't see All-Stars being any different, personally.
Recall as well that Brawl actually included demos of several games that could be obtained on the virtual console. That was pretty blatant taking advantage of Brawl to promote sales of Nintendo games.

The point on "established" characters is well-taken, in that even though Nintendo was pimping out franchises for new and future releases, the characters it was using weren't entirely new. On the other hand, the fact that it doesn't seem to have been an advertisement also had something to do with the fact that many of the characters–Mario, DK, Link, Kirby--were parts of series that had a release of one form or another in just about every year. There were some nice nods to the past--Ness, Ice Climbers--but the mix of salutes to old franchises with promotion for new ones was pretty similar.
As for Dante, I understand the decision. If he's going to be in the game, it pretty much has to be New Dante. After Capcom/Ninja Theory took so much flak for changing the character/model (in my eyes, rightly), it would be a slap in the face to the publishers for Sony to include Old Dante in the game and ignore the direction the series had taken. Of course, the problem could be avoided by just not including him.

Also - Digimon were a huge thing for Sony a few years ago… BUT THEN they lost the whole rights thingie to Nintendo. I don't know the exact story, but Digimon, Crash, Spyro and Croc and Daniel Fortesque were among the ones Sony could call their Playstation Stars. And only one of them's in the game, so sorry if I sound a little frustrated about this.
Wasn't it Bandai who had the rights to Digimon? And I don't recall it getting much games anyways. It had a few Digimon Worlds, a card game and then some on the GBA/DS. Much like how Dragon Quest jumped from Nintendo to Sony to Nintendo again. Sometimes developers will just go with A: The platform best for them. B: The one that will give them the most money or C: The one that is willing to throw money at them for exclusiveness.
Yeah, at the moment I think Digimon are Nintendo only. I have no idea if this shit shows up in every game but a few days ago I played a DS Digimon game and before it started there was a Nintendo logo with "licensed by". So that's why I think these guys are lost for Sony.
Digimon was never exclusively any console thing. The same time Digimon World series was going on on the Playstation/2 they had Gameboy Adance/DS/Wonderswan games going on. Thought the portable games were more based on the anime series, and the console games were more based off the original concepts.
Currently Digimon is the rights of Toei, Bandai, and Disney.

From what I know a majority of Digimon games are on Playstation consoles cept for the small handfull for Nintendo consoles. (actually there is only 2 digimon games on Nintendo consoles I know about they are both on the DS Digimon World Dusk and Digimon World Dawn)
When I think digimon I don't think of playstation, I think of the little tamagotchi-like virtual pet thingies I would play with and then have fights with my cousin, or the show I would watch every saturday morning.
When I think of Spyro, meanwhile, I think of the first great experience I had with a Sony console.
There is no way in hell any Digimon would deserve to be in this game as much as Spyro. It's a bad comparison, just … no.

Well with the Virtual Pet market being dead they had to transition to another platform or join the markets fate.
I'm pretty pleased with the roster for this game. I do hope there are going to be over 30 fighters though… Generally I play fighting games more when they have larger casts (Smash Bros, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, etc.)
