Nothing more to say but amazing chapter. I jizzed.
Chapter 673: Vergo and Joker
-
-
I am glad that Zoro's crew is heading towards the lab, because that leaves the CC confrontation up to Nami and Usopp.
Also, Chopper is going to shine very soon, by saving his waifu. I mean, saving his noble steed. I mean, saving Law. -
this chapter…
too much awesome!!! -
I have just been staring at that last panel in awe for like 5 minutes. Seeing members new and old get happy about this is just so, so encouraging. One Piece has that kind of lasting power, people. There is nothing I can say to do this chapter justice, EVEN IF you take that reveal out that brings it to another level… All around fantastic, even without it.
-
I am glad that Zoro's crew is heading towards the lab, because that leaves the CC confrontation up to Nami and Usopp.
I really hope they actually get to have some sorta skirmish with the guy. They rarely ever take on the bigger villains. Only time I can recall is when Nami went up against Enel for a bit.
-
So wait..What is Smoker if Vergo is the head of the G5 Marines?I thought Smoker was head of them?
And also the slime has a devil fruit?Jeez Oda is on fire these days
-
Vergo having the weird habit of having parts of his dinner stick to his face without him noticing….
..That the slime has a DF..lol, should have guessed that, but it seemed so, yeah whatever there is a big slime wandering around.
Axolotl-fruit (what does sera-sera mean?)..so zoan and he should have the ability to regenerate bodyparts...good for a piece of slime :)The G-5 over the top guy wears Luffy`s armor boots from TB and rainbase-cage revival while Luffy enjoying it made me laugh.
And that while seeing before drug-addicted kids in a shonen manga..hell yeah! The final reveal of Joker being DoFlamingo was speculated already (even when most people always see him appear in the next chapter), and also Law being a former subordinate proved t be right.
Iam begging to have a Law flashback in the future, hehe.
So DoFlamingo has everywhere his man scattered and uses CC to create him some kind of special weapon?
Ohh man this guy rly has his strings everywhere!
I could see him as a perfect first real opponent in the NW (like Croc at th GL), but seeing how build up he is now over all those years, i cant rly believe it (even when i hope for that since he first appeared what shouldn
t be hard to believe seeing my username here, haha) -
Agreed. And he's done a hell of a job keeping his power authoritarian but secret. I want to suspect he has spies in officer rank in Big Mom's and Kaidou's crews, but perhaps Virgo is his limit in infiltrating a world power? Nonetheless, I have no doubt he has a bunch of unwilling crews of pirate slaves working for him, with some even working under other Yonkou by name.
I feel a little sad for Caesar. He has no idea who he's really working with, and is now overshadowed as a villain.
Now that you mention it there MUST be someone above Don Flamingo because Law seemed to suggest that after they captured Ceaser [[who seems to be working for Don]] their quest to War with a Yonko would move instantly.
This may be bigger than Don Flamingo ,it would perfectly explain how he has such a wide spectrum if he had a Yonko secretly backing him.
Makes me wonder who Law's target is, Big Mom or Kaido imo.
-
Oh, one more thing.
I think Monday 16th July is holiday in Japan, so next Jump isse (#33) will be on sale probably on Saturday 14th July, so maybe next week we´ll have early Spoilers on Tuesday.
At first I almost cried because I thought it was gonna be a break, but then you said EARLY SPOILERS and yeah.

Doflamingo is not necessarily related to Law's goal.
It's more likely that Dofla wants the same "key" that Law does, for his own Dofla purposes.EDIT: I am starting to suspect that Doflamingo wants the ancient weapons.

You're making me think Don Flamingo will be the final antagonist of OP. Which is not bad at all.

Doflamingo mentioned that he's following orders of an authority higher than Sengoku when he tried to assassinate Moria, but I doubt he is actually loyal to a government authority. I also don't see him as a follower of a Yonkou, because he specifically said "his tag" when he rebuked Bellamy. However, if Kaidou had that grim "smiley skull" as his flag's symbol, I'd change my mind.
Also, between this chapter and the discovery of the Higgs boson, there is no room for sleep tonight C:

Possible, but Blackbeard would somehow have to be dealt with beforehand, which seems kind of infeasible right now.
Interestingly, they were both introduced in the Jaya arc. The Jaya arc was like the ultimate exposition arc, LOL. -

It's just awesome beyond words.
Also MUDKIP!!!!
Thank you, Oda.

The Jaya arc was like the ultimate exposition arc, LOL.If we take Newgates statement as reference ,After the great treasure One Piece is found, a great War will occur maybe this will be started by Don Flamingo after Luffy and BB duke it out for OP? This would also coincide nicely with Don's own speech during Marineford ,about whoever winning becomes Justice.

It was just a leftover hamburger ROFL
-
Franky sleeping on Robin's lap, Oda sure is pairing them.
-
Sweet jesus…. It actually was Doflamingo?? I suppose if you say it for every theory, it's bound to be right eventually.
-
This graph and the new overboard Marine in this weeks chapter have basically confirmed for me that Coby is a Rear Admiral or at least Commodore rank after the two year time skip. Because this is the second time after said time skip that Oda showed a fodder RA,the first one being Rear Admiral Kadar in the Sun Pirates flashback.
Yarisugi is a commodore
-
Doflamingo…is behind...EVERYTHING!!! Just remember that, and, you'll be ok.
-
It was right after the war that someone from the shadows called flamingo the joker… I thought that was common knowledge
-
So wait..What is Smoker if Vergo is the head of the G5 Marines?I thought Smoker was head of them?

Smoker belongs to unit 01 of G-5, probably the head of that unit.
While Vergo is probably the head of all G-5's units. -
It was right after the war that someone from the shadows called flamingo the joker… I thought that was common knowledge
No there wasn't, otherwise people would've picked that up a while ago. The name Joker was first mentioned in this arc.
-
This is just a small observation,
but I don't think it's a coincidence that Nami-in-Sanji first picks up her Clima Tact in the chapter where she is confronted by CC… -

If so that would make Caribou a likely subordinate, considering he thought you know who would be interested in Shirahoshi's power.
Doflamingo I thought might be Joker but then when everyone was saying I was like IDK. Still great that it was him and I've always thought since his 340m bounty was introduced (which as far as readers knew was INSANELY high) that he would be powerful. Also him toying with Oars and then stopping Jozu like nothing. Vergo, CC, Bellamy, and Law his line up reminds of the guys who were form BM's crew on FI. Vergo excited me because he seems to be what I've been looking for, the Shichibukai are pirates and very few if any have first mates (or know first mates). Overall review:
-Slime having a fruit makes sense, also means CC knows how to combine DFs and inanimate objects, my guess is considering that and what he did to his own gas he knows a lot about DFs
-Vergo being a Doflamingo first mate, I know I'll get slack for this but most trusted guy is close enough to a first mate
-Law being someone's subordinate at all, then again he's not a boisterous guy like Kid & Luffy but a strategic dude
-The other a-hole G-5 marine who was hilarious
-Zoro/Kinemon/Sanji didn't do too much
-Usopp & Nami are screwed, was hoping Usopp would attempt to fight back
-Finding out more about how G5 works was nice
-Robin making the Rain Dinners joke was good -
@Massimo:
It was just a leftover hamburger ROFL
It was pretty big though…
...
hmm...
[/goes off to create silly Wergo doodles] -
-
Amazing chapter. Doflamingo made me lol a bit, after all the funny talk in the 672 chapter thread. However, I really really doubt that he will be the last villain of OP. He is simply the last Shichibukai that needs to be dealt with, and it is the time to do it now before the SH's take on the Yonkou and ultimately Blackbeard/Akainu.
-
Apart from that, Law really grew a lot, now Vergo's line last chapter makes sense. I think that Doflamingo transplanted some device in his body when he was still part of his crew (and much weaker) in order to keep him in check. It would explain why Vergo was able to disable him in an instant, and why Law doesn't want Doflamingo to find out anything.
-
Now, as many said, the cage scene was amazing. Panels like these give me the ultimate "this is One Piece" chill.
-
So Vergo is a Vice Admiral. I instantly thought of Nolus when I read his infobox. Funny how the forum influences my OP reading experience. Whatever, since he wasn't present at the war of the best, even as a VA, this confirms that not every bigshot of the Marines was present back then, which means there is room for a New Admiral we don't even know of yet.
-
I don't agree that Caesars role is undermined by Vergo or Doflamingo. For me the opposite is the case, he is portrayed like a cave monster, and the remaining Marine's will be "food" for the beast.
-
Too many panels wasted on the slime, again. The DF reveal was nice and I LOVE the design, but I get it: the slimes can transform and fuse. No need to waste full pages on that. I know this is bitching on a very high level, but still.

Gotta love the Alabasta nostalgia though…
good times... -
-
I think that Smoker and Tashigi will become Strawhats now, because Vergo will give the order to Doflamingo to treat them like traitors (and the 5 stars will support it because they dont want that the world knows the true).
-
@45°Dunc:
Fuck, Ussop, catch that gasious mother fucker in a dial asap.
ah thats what I was gonna post in a different thread…
1- Usopp needs to use the impact dial so the bastard goes gasious and not be solid,
2-then use a scent dial to capture him
3- pray that CC doesn't use haki to avoid it@Law:
That is where he started his pirate crew it did not say he was born there also Sanji and Zoro were not born in east blue but they count as east blue pirates because that is where they started as pirates.
I think Law was a devil user that from the island the kids have been taken from it was said that Vergo saved the island from pirates so it could have been setup by Doflamingo's pirates they could have been acting when they lost to Vergo.
Where does it sayy Zoro is not from East Blue? All we know from cannon is that he trained at a dojo in Shimotsuki Village in East Blue. I do not recall anywhere int he manga saying he's from a different sea, ?
-
Is it strange that my voice for Vergo is the same as Idris Elba's from Luther?

reading that made me think of ghostbusters xD
-
topless Brook FTW!
-
Donflamingo being the last villain (this has to be trolling). Blackbeard is by far the only option apart from the WG. I could see this arc ending with no Doflamingo confrontation or a series of confrontations. However considering that the SHs know his true identity he'll probably want to eliminated them himself WHEN they escape. Luffy still has a confrontation with Big Mam, Blackbeard, Kid/Killer (two highest bounty SNs w/ 1st mates as the only non-captain SNs), Akainu, Smoker (the Garp/Roger thing) and Shanks along with others who are bound to appear. Great chapter again I just stopped shaking 15mins ago from excitement
-

Oh. My. Oda.
I used the same voice on Vergo '.'I think that Smoker and Tashigi will become Strawhats now, because Vergo will give the order to Doflamingo to treat them like traitors (and the 5 stars will support it because they dont want that the world knows the true).
Ehm. No.
-
rise from an enlisted man to vice admiral in 15 years,Vergo has been riding on a rocket–-of course, his rising is insignificant next to the speedy promotion of Captain Tashigi
-
the rude vice admiral kind of reminds me of Prefessor Clover from Ohara ^^
-
So was Bellamy… Just sayin'
I was replying about Law theoretically being from the same island that the kids were taken from. If a G5 Rear-Admiral is in charge of the town, and if G5 is set in the New World, that town wouldn't be Law's home since he is from North Blue, not the New World.
Just sayin'
-
The strategie of Doflamingo is quite simple "the survival of the fitest" and thats why the government needs him to erradicate a lot of pirates and murder them, thats why he have under his wing a big fleet (to control them). Doflamingo im sure he is using Blackbeard ambition to discover One piece and provoke the revolutionaries, the marines, the kingdoms and the pirates who will try to steal that precious treasure when it will be discovered and the big war will happen (One piece war???).
-

Considering that we know that Both Franky and Sanji are from another of the blues, even when it's not very relevant, and that Robin and Brook are from other blues as well (through for them are plot-relevant) the posibility that Zoro has a secret orgigin it's slim. Also It's more probable with Nami.
Wow, what a reveal, the only thing that I'd like to know is who's Caribou's boss that he mentions in the end of Fishman Island, and if he's … Joker.
Loved both the front page and the cage page.
It was:
Luffy-Vivi-Carue
Robin-Franky
Chopper-Nami
Sanji-Zoro
Usopp-BrookSo, unless it's Jimbe-Sunny (or another string of other characters), next week new cover story!!!
-
WOW! Amazing chapter. This arc so makes up for Fishman Island being below average.
This also explains why Law used a similar smiley style Flag symbol. Vergo being a Vice-Admiral
is a nice way of showing the power levels within the marines. The Alabasta reference was also nice. -
This chapter made Doflamingo EVEN MORE a favorite character of mine. Man knows how the world works.
-
rise from an enlisted man to vice admiral in 15 years,Vergo has been riding on a rocket–-of course, his rising is insignificant next to the speedy promotion of Captain Tashigi
He was probably already strong and a good strategist before he joined, so promotions no doubt came easy.
-
Nice chapter, I think we all were expecting Doflamingo at this point but the revelation was still cool enough.
-
Hahaha… I was right that Vergo is one of those ridiculously forgetful type of guys.. Hehe.
-
-
OPIC chapter with great twists!
Hurray for Doflamingo!
Can't wait for next week!
