I'm seeing mixed reaction about the trailer, but I found it to be fantastic! I couldn't stop smiling the whole time.

@Gentleman:
Could just be how the trailer was cut. No one's lips move and I doubt they'd use the voice of a random mook.[/QUOTE
unless they want us to wait for foxys VA and surprise us. I wouldnt mind that being foxys voice , but when i heard it i just thought it was a bit too deep for foxy i dno.

Well, it could be Hamburg I admit.
-
Richard Epcar playing any of Foxy's gang would be great. I do wish we had heard Foxy more distinctly, but it was still a pretty great trailer.
-
Well with this we I can finally say that we have nothing left to worry about. We're in the home stretch now guys, all we have to do is patiently let time take it's course until August (or July if you pre-ordered from RS ;P).
-
It sounded an awful lot like Kyle Hebert to me.
-
@Gentleman:
Ah, nonetheless that sounds a lot like Richard Epcar.
Well not just from the subs too,I'm looking at that part in the manga, and literally the viewers/readers first exposure to foxy is luffy meeting him for the challenge.
Anyways what are the chances Richard Epcar is in this? Looked up other works he was in, not bad.
-
damn i really wana get this pre ordered asap! Second it comes on Amazon UK …...BAM......

….You realize FUNimation only has the rights to the series in the US and Canada right? Why would it show up in the UK?

You can import through Amazon in the UK (though that's useless if you don't have a DVD player that can handle Region 1). Of course, if Manga UK can push enough DBZ Orange Bricks that might not be needed for much longer.

yes i realise , and as gentleman skeleton said we can import the dvds through amazon. Apparently Toei are actually quite keen to bring one piece to the UK , at least that was what Manga UK said at their panel on sunday.

I respectfully & wholeheartedly disagree with anyone that didn't love that trailer for any reason whatsoever.
Felt more like a movie trailer to me though.
-
Really liked the trailer, and now I'm feeling more hyped than ever for this coming season.
Also, maybe I'm reading into it too much, but I really like how they included the "it's like a blank slate!" line in there. It's like their saying that they're finally ready to move on after repairing all the damage that 4kids have caused.
-
Trailer was awesome.
I personally love the Davy Back Fight arc, so I am SUPER pumped!
-
I very much fear for the day when rightstuf stops sending out things early. Collection six hasn't shippped yet.
-
Hope that doesn't happen anytime soon…If it did there'd be no point in ordering UPS 2nd Day Air, right?
-

I liked the trailer, but I personally thought that it could have been a little bit better.
Maybe it could of had some more action scenes, I dunno. -

Maybe it could of had some more action scenes, I dunno.I don't know where they would find enough action scenes in those episode without spoiling the best parts. As I recall Davy Back Fight was a bit slower than most of the opening arcs of other seasons.

Very true, and add to the fact that they added alot more filler to the arc in the anime than the manga.
I don't think that was Richard Epcar, I've never heard him that low pitched before. Has he ever done anything for Funimation before?
My guess for that voice would be Phil Parsons.
-
Seeing that trailer made me feel warm and fuzzy all over.
-
Well you actually do hear his voice near the end of the trailer, in that shot of his face that comes right after Zoro's - although the music covers it up almost completely. But yeah that sounded nothing like the voice at the beginning, which is just a mook as most have already said.
-
Did anyone else get an "Old Toonami Ad" vibe from that trailer?
-
I'm afraid it's easy to tell that's not Richard Epcar.
So yeah, the cut could have been better, and Clinkenbeard definitely needs time to grow back into Luffy… But the design and music choices were top notch, and I can totally dig our wait being over!

This was to be expected, unfortunately, which is why I hope that we don't have such a long wait for Enies Lobby.

I hope not also, maybe it'd nice if the folks who started getting dvd's via collections would buy season 4 in voyages. More sales= Quicker licensing = Faster Enies Loby Dub= ???= Cash
-
Come on man…I know it's not your intent but we really don't need to have an argument about this again.

Agreed

Why not? Isn't that why their reluctant to license more/faster? Sure some of the blame is in toei's end too, but I don't feel its quite that much as we think.
-
i really hope they finish dubbing season 4, see how the first few sets sell and then go and get season 5 from Toei. That would be awesme
-
I can't imagine them not selling well. I feel like this season will definitely sell well enough to warrant buying another season, I think the question is just how quickly, and how many episodes they decide to buy?
It is a bit disappointing to see that Colleen isn't in her A-game. So long as she's prepped for Water 7, I'll manage. Luffy sounds a bit more like a girl in that clip. Though, I suppose it was only one line. I may be too quick to judge.

Because we discussed this here already and all ganged up on one member waiting on the Collections for consistency sake. You can't force someone to buy the Voyages when they're dead-set on the Collections so why bother? Plus at least getting the Collections is better than nothing at all. And FUNi's renewal of Season 4 had little to nothing to do with the Collections so why do some of you guys think it'll make a huge difference if some people buy those instead?

Not to point fingers but I'd say part of the problem was Mike McFarland prepping the VAs for their return last Fall by having them all watch Episode 205, which was recorded in 2007-2008. As a result Colleen here sounds more like she did in early-to-mid Season 3. Personally I think it'd be better to prep them by showing them the final episode of Season 2 but oh well. I don't mind Luffy sounding a little off for the DBF but I hope Colleen can step it up by the time we're at Aokiji at the end of S4 Second Voyage.
I hope we're just overreacting and it was just a couple of off lines.
-
Amazon has reduced S4V1 back to 29.99
-
well Coleen didn't sound too bad in the Wong fu productions vid. I just thought that the "All i can see is grass and trees!" bit of the trailer was a bit off.
-
Yeah, even putting aside the bit in the Wong Fu video with her yelling to Nami, Colleen talked as Luffy a bit before she recorded the line and it sounded great, so yeah. I just think only these earlier episodes will sound a bit off here and there, but that's it. Nothing to worry about.

Moving on. Do you guys think the movies will get individual releases? They said they were working on lisensing them… The first few are ridiculously short. Too short to put on dvd alone... Will the sets be sets of four, three, two, or one? I imagine they'll give Strong World its own release.

well i can see them doing double packs like they did at first with dbz , and i agree surely strong world will get its own release.
Quick question. If i order from rightstuff would i still get my voyage early if i live in the UK?

They'll be singles, most likely; especially if there's a Blu-ray release.

I would imagine the first three might be released together or at a lower price point than the others if they're singles. Don't think Toei's a fan of the combo packs, so they might have to release them separately.

who & when did they say they were working on it???
rather get the next season then the movies.. -

rather get the next season then the movies..It was on a recent ANN Cast. Nothing to worry about, I doubt we'd see movies anytime soon if ever anyway. I'm sure they've been interested in the films from the start but nothing's come of it.
-
When the movies start coming out, I foresee the first 3 movies getting released on the same DVD/Blu-ray, and then singles for the rest. Since those movies are, all together, about the same length as each of the rest. Starting with The Dead End Adventure the movies started being feature length.

Uh, no? Movie 1 is 51 minutes, 2 is 55 minutes and 3 is 56 minutes. Alltogether 162 minutes or 2 hours and 42 minutes. Movies 2 & 3 also have the short-films that are 5 and 6 minutes respectively.

Nice trailer. A bit off, but it's not like the actors have been in character for a while, so there's a bit of forgiveness for the start. At least it's in the Foxy arc and not the start of Water 7, right? I was really exited for the trailer until I remembered that there were filler matches halfway through. Will still be getting it, but I did not remember liking those eps at all…

Yeah, you can tell Toei made the Davy Back Fight filler with kids in mind. Especially the "Red Light, Green Light" episode.
-
I liked the Davy Back Fight. But I think I really didnt knew what was filler and what wasnt…

Canon Events:
The Donut Race
The Groggy Ring
Captain's FightFiller Events:
Roller Race
Pirate Dodgeball
Red Light/Green LightThe events also went differently. After losing the Donut Race, the Foxy Pirates take Chopper. after winning the Groggy Ring, they get him back. In the anime, instead of Chopper, Luffy chose Sherry, Tonjit's horse. Chopper came back after the Roller Race event, but Luffy agreed to another three games. In two of them, they lost Robin and Chopper, so in order to get them back, Nami bet 500 crew members to the winner. Getting most of Foxy's crew and quickly dismissing them. In the manga, Luffy merely asked for his flag.
DBF is definitely a better arc in the manga. Granted, the entire story is better in the manga but that's besides the point.

I agree completely, although do you really think this is a conversation we should be having before a DVD release of said arc? Foxy arc may not be my most favorite arc do to how the anime handled it around midway, but i still found it quite enjoyable
-
How're the filler arcs after it? I never saw the anime version of the Foxy arc, but the manga version, while comedic, wasn't very good. I'm not looking forward to it being drawn out, but hey- it's in widescreen with better animation!
-

But it's no secret how Toei handled that arc. And it's not like talking about it will get some of us to not buy the set.
-
I hope anime only viewers will buy all sets…
-
How were the post-foxy filler arcs?
