Maybe now he won't be dead weight in the Gourmet World, he'll be able to fight with a Melk knife.
Toriko

Hope nobody else mentioned this already, but the 5-metres long chopsticks remind me of some sort of fable I've heard a long time ago. It went something like this:
In hell, the damned are separated from a bowl full of meat and they can only grab the meat with very long chopsticks. No matter how much they tried, they couldn't get the meat into their mouths, the meat missed their mouths every time they dropped it from high above and they couldn't turn the chopstick around properly. Thus, the damned suffer, starving whilst trying and constantly failing to get the meat.
In heaven, the people are in the exact same situation, but instead of using the chopsticks to feed themselves, they used it to feed each other; they just had to stand 5 metres away. Thus they did not starve and were better off.
I'll be expecting something along these lines.
-
I really liked this chapter. ^^ Aside from all the silly things that I liked (Toriko sweating and shirtless and him and Komatsu being such cuties in general) I really look forward to the results of this training.
-
Also, when Komatsu and the other guy have the competition, at the end you can clearly see that not only did this guy finish faster, but also he had somehow more cabbage than Komatsu. LINK: http://www.mangareader.net/toriko/183/19 So maybe he'll teach him not only how to do things faster but also how to get as much as you can from them.

I think it's less, because Komatsu wasn't done yet.
-
Well he mentioned that not only Toriko's techniques will consume less amount of calories, but they'll be much more effective. So probably that'll apply to Komatsu too. Also with that Petty Knife, it's not hard to imagine that he's able to cut the cabbage in 1-2 millimeter pieces.

Alright you guys wanted to see this, so here's Part 1 of the interview with Shima-sensei from Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha:

His full course is unusually plain.
-
Does he have any other inteviews?
-
The interview in Hettapi Manga Kenkyuujou R is actually really GOOD and Shimabukuro and the other authors actually talked about their creative process.
I'm gonna try to work on that sometime in the near future. I scanned it, but it's got tons of text. The entire manga is only one book and is a little less than 200 pages. The characters made by Murata Yuusuke (of Eyeshield 21) interviews Shimabukuro, Togashi, and the authors of Neuro and Ichigo 100%. -
Wow I hate his full course so much. Shark fin and tuna. Is he a moron?

btw guys,, wasn't there something about a 'video' interview on SJA too? I mean, ya,, I don't know how u'd make that public,,, but i just wanna see it.,,,.. greed kills :)
-
I never did eat shark fin soup. I hear it doesn't realy taste like much though.
-
I thought shark-fin soup was illegal
-
Just finished reading the newest chapter. It was really enjoyable.
Shuu's speed and agility far surpass Toriko's brute strength.
I can't wait to see the rest of the training. If Toriko can use all of his attacks with at least 1/20th the calorie consumption, just imagine the insane amount of damage he could do. -

You are very welcome! There should be a second part I'll post later on.

This I'm not so sure could be made public. It's on Shonen Jump's website and only accessible to certain people. Hopefully someone puts it on YouTube or something. The video would probably be Shimabukuro drawing Toriko for us. It's nice stuff to see.

@Baou:
I thought shark-fin soup was illegal
I'm not so sure it's illegal so much as it's frowned upon when sold in the United States. I hear it's most popular in China. But the well being of Sharks is what prohibits it's sale around here.

Do you honestly believe Zebra could ever complete training in food honor?
-
Pfft he'll just the whole temple so that it won't attack him…
-
Hey, you guys are talking about Zebra? Guess who makes his debut in the Toriko X One Piece Collaboration Special 2?
Screw it I'll just show you:

Here's Part 2 of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha's interview with Shimabukuro-sensei! For those of you who live in Arizona, see if you can find his relatives and get some cool Toriko swag!

Page 3:

The full-length interview is just the two parts put together to make one long interview, nothing new. The video of Shima sketching Toriko will be put on the Shonen Jump site and the issue out tomorrow will have a link to that. Like I said hopefully someone puts it on YouTube so that other people can watch it.
-
It's true a digital manga would have use for some new innovative ways to display their chapters.
Gif's perchance?

A long term plotted epic using gifs to punctuate storytelling? That sounds chimeric. I dare someone to prove me otherwise…

I just watched the video on the Shonen Jump site of Shimabukuro-sensei sketching Toriko. It's a minute 1/2-long video but it's still very cool to see. I'll keep my eye's peeled on YouTube or other sites to see if I can find a re-upload. It's good stuff though. Also, today's issue of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha's cover was graced by a giant image of Toriko.
EDIT: I just noticed that the image he drew of Toriko is used in the latest chapter.
-
Sure why not
-
What do u think will be Zebura and Coco powerups will be? Since Sani learned intuition and instinct while Toriko is learning food honor.
-
@Venomous:
Sure why not
I would pay to go to that, no question.

I'm guessing Zebra would learn something along the lines of his sound powers. Heck it could even be controlling his temper. Coco, I'm not so sure. I feel like he would have an easier time with "food honor" than Toriko, and already has instinct and intuition with his fortune telling abilities.
-

Yea i would as well, and It will probably have some good food at least thats for sure.
-
Is there a break this week?
-
It's in the TOC
-
EDIT: Completely misinterpreted MarcelloF, sorry. Can a moderator delete this post, please? :)

You should just edit the post to tell us which of the foods to appear in Toriko so far is your favorite.
-
Dose anybody else find it funny that Komastu is older than Sani, same age as Zebura and Toriko?
-
Wow really.
Sani struck me as the most mature, oldest of the bunch.EDIT: Brain fart, I was actually thinking about Coco
Sani is plenty immature. -
I always thought Zebra was the older of the four, due to his size and features. I have the same age as him, it feels so awkward, lol. And i wish we had Coco´s age. SInce it wasn´t revealed i guess he´s the older, but not for much since they all were on the same age range on the flashbacks.
Can`t find spoilers ANYWHERE ;__;

All the character physical stats in this show crack me up. They on average are way bigger and older than the average Shonen jump crew. I think that's why I enjoy it. I had gotten tired of watching children being left to save the world from forces of evil. These are full fleged adults, with careers, money in the bank, status etc. And of course muscles out the wazzu. It's very hard to get them confused with the female counter parts.
-
We got this all done. It took a little longer than normal because it's wordy as fuck and took me all day even working nonstop to translate and typset.

Thanks kewl.
This is the most enjoyable training arc I have read in a long time in any manga.
-
Something is brewing when Chin wants to go to the Gourmet World too.
-
Thanks Kewl, that was a really awesome and interesting upgrade for komatsu
-
Thanks for the chapter kewl
Im liking where things are going and their progress with the training so far, it was a nice change seeing toriko not do well with his training where as hes excelled at everything else in the past, but i actually like this turn of events. Hes not used to being delicate or precise and hes being humbled a bit by having to make better use of his movements. I cant wait to see what they can do when all is said and done.
-
I liked this chapter. I know it seems like a small thing to say about this, but really it's all I can say. There wasn't one part of this chapter I didn't like. Very good work.
-
That was a great chapter.
Especially pleased with the puffer fish bit - I initially was disappointed because I thought the author had forgotten that it was supposed to shine, but that turned out to be a plot point on the very next page.
