I would not be suprised if Oda had Sanji beat Kalifa up purely and simple (Yes including losing some blood) Sanji may have to change his policy to fight olny enemy woman like Kalifa
Chapter 400 "Key of Liberation" Discussion

I think the Seastone's power is limited to physical touch.
Smoker's weapon has a Seastone tip, but he's just fine.Yeah. Smoker didnt turn to smoke in the cage because he knew he couldnt get out. Luffy was fine till he kept grabbing the side of it.
And i think you are over thinking the devil's fruit thing. They're mystery fruits! and more to the point, there must be a way for an object to eat the fruit, otehrwise when you keep it in a crate (like shanks did) whats to stop the crate getting the fruits power? kind of a waste :)
-
The best theory I've heard so far is that an object has to be so greatly treasured to have a soul, such as Merry and Mr 4's gun (the manga did say it was his favourite gun). Perhaps the same would be said of funk freed, Spandam's pet sword.
-
Hopefully there aren't any smugglers who are really attached to their crates.
-

To add onto that, I remembered some things Franky said in chapter 351.
Franky: The "Klabautermann" is a legend told among sailors…A spirit that resides only in ships that are given the most care... an incarnation of the ship.
Franky: A ship thanks its riders for the care it's given. I bet this ship wanted to take you guys to the "other shore." If it had a crew that it wanted to carry so badly that it would assume the form of a human… Then it must have been one happy ship.
-
I think Sanji will talk to her until she breaks down… I think she or Kaku said "5 years work, down the drain" and their expressions are like O_O!!! We know Sanji always have a way with ladies >_.
That lad is unpredictable, at least for once he's fighting non strange enemy (refers to Wanze and Bon Clay)
-
I think she'll have eaten the Kuso Kuso no Mi (Shit Shit Fruit). Sanji will literally beat the shit out of her. XD
-
If Oda has Sanji kick Kalifa's ass, how'll feel? If Sanji actully realize she is the enemy and beats her up without anything get in the way, how'll feel? If Oda does that, then Sanji learned a new character: Fight olny enemy woman.
-
Once again joe, I fail to see your point.
-
I think he's saying that after this fight, Sanji will be willing to hit women, if those women are a threat to his nakama.
-
Once again joe, I fail to see your point.
 dont be so cruel… lol... ^^...
sanji will do that his way.. i believe he will overcome his weakness towards woman.. lol.. defeating califa may not necesarrily mean beating and hitting the crap outta her.. still its interesting to know what he will do..
edit - i was thinking.. didn't aokiji placed his hand inside the sea when he frozed it!?!? how couuld he do that?!? since his weakness should be the sea... but then in arlong arc.. luffy is able to stretch his head towards the surface of the water to grasp for air...
does this mean that the DF user is able to use their power in the sea but they just cant swim.. conversely the seastone nullifies their power when DF users are in contact with it...
-
Once again joe, I fail to see your point.
My point is, I don't know why people kept saying Sanji should try something else to Kalifa reather then laying a figure on her? And why people kept saying that Kalifa should become a man/ugly/cover her cover her face for Sanji to fight her easliy? Sanji gonna have to beat her up. I'm sorry but that will happen.
-
Hmmm kay. Anyway, what I was thinking is that he'd use the weakness of the fruit (hopefully it's a Logia!) to beat her, along with the environment. No need for physical contact at all.
-
If Califa's a logia type, Sanji and Sogeking are going to get huge bounties if they emerge victorious/alive from their respective battles. o.O
-

Once again, people are still saying that Sanji should not have physical contact with Kalifa at all. People, you are not writing the story, Oda may have to had Sanji making physical contact with Kalifa, I sorry but that will happen, get over it.
-

- OHH, so you're writing the story then?
- Touche. How contradictory.

Oda is writing the story, not us so we cannot decide that Sanji will not have any physical contact with Kailfa. When the chapter 400 spoiler freshly came out, people thought there'll be no hearts in Sanji's eyes but after the spoiler text was translated, it was proven wrong. Sanji will have to have physical contact with Kailfa if Oda wants too which I hope nothing gets in the way to make Sanji have the reason to attack her (Her becoming a man/ugly/face change/covered, etc, etc). This is Oda's story, Oda decide what to do with this. People though Usopp will fight Kaku but Oda does not follow our decision and it's Zoro that gonna fight him.

And, this has absolutely no relation to the fact that Sanji MUST hit Califa. You say whatever we predict is wrong. So what about predictions that are true?
-

What if it's not? Where is the fact Sanji may not hit Kailfa? Oda always try something something new and he may have Sanji hit her.
I don't trust predications anymore. Not that I'm being boring, is just that it makes you disappointed many time. I use to think Robin was possessed or the CP9 are 'shadowey cults' or Luffy land-crashed in Enies Lobby or mobs of shipwights storming the warehouse to kick the CP9's ass or Sanji rushing in the Galley-La's HQ to save his friends or Nico Robin repenting her attitude after Spandam hit her and guess what? NONE of these were true.
And we can't just JUMP the conclusion in deciding how Sanji should treat Kalifa, not even I know what he'll do but we can't decide for Oda and we(even I) can predicate Oda so it's better to wait and see without jumping the conclusion.
Tell me, do we even know what will happen in chapter 400 while we were in chapter 389? No. People though they would start fight the CP9 at chapter 399 but it did not happened.
-

Nojiko pulled his head up above the water surface, so it's not like Luffy did it on his own.
-
I really don't see your point. Sorry, I see no point in arguing with you. Good day.
-
joekido, if you don't like prediction, then simply stay away from it. You have no right to limit other people's thoughts.
After 469 posts of discussion, all we have left to do is to predict what's going to happen next. We are not Oda but that doesn't mean we can't speculate.
Again, if you don't like it, just stay away.
Back on topic. I mentioned in the other thread, but when I was talking with my friend, he mentioned about cutting Robin's hand to release her from cuffs. Since she can just grow hands, it shouldn't be much of problem. While it sounds so violent, I was like o.o! That's possible.
-

You mean cut them both off?
She can't grow limbs, she doesn't have anymore, can she? I thought the hands & body parts she sprouts are all based from the originals. So if just one hand or limb is injured, it'll effect the original body part, like say.. when one of her hands was stabbed at Alubarna, it also inflicted a wound on her original hand.

Fine. Predication always embarresses me.
Robin's hand growing back if cutted would be intersting.
-
I dunno, ocean. It seems more like she grows her current limbs out of multiple places… note how in Alabasta she feels pain when a grunt hurts her arm, and her real arms are strained in Skypeia when holding up her opponent whose name I forget.
-
All the upcoming fights have unknown varibles, it like x + y(x) = z
Sanji vs. Califa -whats her df powers, and will Sanji be forced to hit her?
Nami vs. Staff dude: what are both true staffs powers, if any.
Sogeking vs. Jyaraba?: We sortof know jyaraba's power but not his strength, and sogeking and his giant pea shooter kabuto are unknown.
Kaku vs. Zoro: We know he is the second strongest, but what his df powers, and zoro have new techniques every fight, how will he play this out?
Where the hell is chopper?
Until those variables are solved or revealed, it is impossible to predict.
-
Predictions are fans' so called "theories" of the possibilities, you don't have to trust them, we are not Gods and we can't really tell what will happen. Like fanfictions, we love to let our imaginations wonder and tries to write out what we think will happen according to our understanding of the characters according to storyline.
We can't wait for the next chapter so we have to do with the current one to "predict" to pass time and interest. What I learnt is, Pandaman is there for a reason which I think is, if you don't look closely, you will miss him in the manga, like wise for some items that pops out from no where which are linked to the earlier manga chapters.
We can take that "item" like Sogeking's mask for example. So if there's suspicious items lying around or made obvious, I think if we look closely we might be using it to our "predictions". Sometimes predictions need analysis for it to make sense xD
-
@B.M.F.:
Nojiko pulled his head up above the water surface, so it's not like Luffy did it on his own.
of course i know that… i might not explain it clearly.. but my point is that.. the power of the fruit is still working.. luffy is still rubber... so the sea doesn't nullify the power of DF user.. but the seastone does..
-
Well, time for the ol copy and paste again.
_Seastone is a stone that emits invisible waves that weaken DF users. For Paramecia users, they become unable to do the respective of their class, ie emit substances, alter the environment or alter their bodies at will. Those that have been permanently changed remain changed, but as all others, their muscles also become extremely weak. Logias revert back to human form, but for Zoan, they suffer in the current form their body is in. Touching a seastone temporarily weakens DF users, but in minute quantities, their powers are merely arrested, and they have their normal strength still.
As for the sea, it appears that DF users are unaffected by splashes of water. It also appears that they will be unable to swim in water where seastone subtances are present. They must be almost totally immersed in a body of water for the same effect that seastone gives to take place. They become extremely weak but still have limited movement, but very far from enough for propulsion._
Of course, this is what we know from OBSERVATION.
-
Hmm something tells me that Califa will insult Nami or Robin & that's the signal for Sanji to stop acting like a gentleman.
-
So, how about the order of the fights? Fukuro will probably fight Franky first so we can benefit from the final explanation of Douriki.
And… how many chapters does a OP fight usually take? For how many months will we be able to relish in CP9-ass kicking goodness from our beloved Strawhats? -
Probably Franky or Nami first, then after those two, Sanji or Usopp, then after those two, Zoro.
-
@Monkey:
And… how many chapters does a OP fight usually take?
From 1 to 3. Alabasta's main events took three chapters, Skypiea had a huge punch of singe chapter fights. I prefer the shorts – building up and pwnage. But I guess this time around they will be around two chapters, perhaps three.
Couldn't Chopper follow the scent of Robin, Lucchi or Spandam...
Besides, they don't even know how to GET to the Gate of Justice!!!
…and track them down for Luffy? -
I am thankful they aren't Narutoesque fights.
-
-
Narutoque fights? In Naruto, they fight almost every week, in One Piece there is more story every week and fights do get Narutoque sometimes. (Looks at the Galley-La HQ battle) Yep Narutoque fights.
-
Do they go on for weeks?
In Naruto, the fights are fast and brutal. There is so much action and not much dialogue. Althought the fights are fast and brutal, panels seem to be drawn frame by frame. Another thing is that each of the fighters seem to have infinite "final jutsus", therefore, the fights seem to be neverending.

Oh, I see. Yeah I agree I don't see that in One Piece, Oda always details the battle without any rushy and high brutal last-minutes volances that sure press your blood high. Ouch.

Like Dragonball Z's Super Saiyans? (In relevance to the "jutsus")

The first real bad fight in Naruto was after the time skip, when Sakura fought the puppet guy… Sasori? Whatever. That fight NEVER ENDED.
As long as One Piece avoids that much, I'm happy.
-
Hmm, fair. Before that it wasn't that bad. However, that one bad fight has influenced me forever. "Crap battle" is now synonymous to Naruto for me. Heck, look at how the current one is playing out.

It seems Kishmoto(Sorry if I spelled it wrong) is obessessed with fighting with almost no story. In One Piece, it always have a room for a story and battles are carefully well done.

Amen, brother. Forums are made for people to talk about this sort of thing and speculate to until the cows come home. The best thing in the world is when you make the perfect theory and it gets blown to pieces in awesome fashion by Oda in the manga. I have made some pretty thorough predictions that lasted several chapters and had them obliterated within the first few pages of the upcoming chapter. It is the nature of the beast.

Wow…..that brought back some ridiculously funny memories. Those single picture posts had me dying when we were talking about Franky in the beginning of the W7 arc. The best was when "Steve the Chef" tried to take over your ID when the forums restarted and you showed everyone your avatar pictures and the Popeye picture to prove it was you. Great stuff.
On topic with the chapter (sort of), I think Kaku has a Bullseye-style devil fruit. The idea behind the fruit is that anything he touches can become a lethal weapon. It seems like the next logical step up on Zoro's journey to be an expert swordsman (go from regular swordsmen, Cabaji, to a mermen with eight swords, Hatchan, to a human sword, Mr. 1, to a guy who had a sword of a strange material, Ohm). With access to plenty of lethal weapons in just the chair he is sitting on, Kaku can definitely make Zoro bleed (the way a lot of people are looking forward to). It will not be the classic sword vs. sword battle, but we probably will not see one of those battles until Zoro sees Mihawk again.

turn anything into a weapon? couldn't he do that already? unless you mean he can transform objects into other weapons, the way that wapol did.
But the idea of a 'bullleye' fruit intrigues me, what if his fruit basically meant he would never miss a punch or a kick? like the way he kicked Franky earlier for example. -
Hmm, fair. Before that it wasn't that bad. However, that one bad fight has influenced me forever. "Crap battle" is now synonymous to Naruto for me. Heck, look at how the current one is playing out.
Actually ive found OP battles to be more brutal than Naruto battles.
The kind of beating the strawhats take and how Oda draws the pained feelings in their eyes is something which i think he excels in.
As i type this i recall One of Eneru's priests nailing Sanji in his mid section with an impact dial, one of those Monkeys in the DBF diving into Zoro's ribcage with a sharp metaldisc around his elbow.
You can really see the brutality in their faces something which Naruto doesnt have.
Not saying Naruto fights are bad….just different.
Sasori's fight was prolonged but i really do like Sasori. One of my favorite villains in the series, just feel like he was totally nerfed during that one battle just for the sake of the plot.On topic - I dont expect any less from the fights that are going to come.
Zoro v Kaku being the one im looking forward to the most now. There is going to be blood, pain and tears people, that is for sure.
Sanji v Kalipha - I just cannot see Sanji going ooc im afraid. So i still say he is not going to harm her himself.
Usopp v Jyabura - hmmm, kinda hard to see blood, pain and tears in this one....well at least to the level Zoro's fight is gonna be. Cos Usopp is good at avoiding damage and being a ranged fighter kinda helps him in that respect.
Nami v Kumadori - I wanna see some Nami hotness thats all <3
Franky v Fukuro - Franky IMO is right up there with Sanji, Zoro and Luffy in strength. This is gonna be great. One thing that gets me thinking however is that none of the fights throughout the series have ever followed the same pattern.
Now this may not be the same as Alabasta (cos they switched opponents back there) but it's similar.
Going by Oda's rep of not repeating stuff, i somehow get the feeling that there will be more to these match ups than meets the eye. -
Usopp v Jyabura - hmmm, kinda hard to see blood, pain and tears in this one….well at least to the level Zoro's fight is gonna be. Cos Usopp is good at avoiding damage and being a ranged fighter kinda helps him in that respect.
Honestly, I think we're likely to see Usopp take nearly as much damage as he did against mole and bat in Alabasta, if not more. While he is good at running, you also have to consider that he's got an extraordinary constitution and can take massive amounts of damage.
If the mole could catch him, in my opinion, so can the third strongest member of the cp9 using soru.
-
OwnerZeff you're thinking of a fruit that gives power like that guy from YuYuHakusho that could make grass, dices and stuff into homing projectiles?
Altough that would be very nice to see in OnePiece i think that the Bullseye idea said by Freddy is better. And Jyabura will own usopp. He will still loose but physically he is far superior like Mr.T going against Bill Gates.
-
What a wonderful chapter!! finally we know the opponents of the strawhat .
I m waiting to see franky vs fukuro and nami vs kumadori because i want to see how those cp9 fight !
For the sanji problem i think that he will seduce her or steale her the key ( don't forget that they don't have much time left) .
For chopper i dont know why but im pretty sure that he will be slashed by spandam just for the sake of showing spandam 's swordmanship.
Don't forget that being a swordman is not about the strength but about the ability .
Maybe spandam is like usopp : pretty comical but dangerous when using a weapon . -
yup, its the bullseye fruit all the way for me
