And not just with the newer stars; I'd actually love to see a few of the classic guests returning to the show too, ones that are still well pretty known by people today. Guys like Elton John and Alice Cooper, Steve Martin, Julie Andrews, or Sylvester Stallone. Kind of "Hey guys, long time no see!" kind of stuff.
I thought the rumour WAS a new Muppet Show? Coulda sworn there was a news feed not long ago about the BBC agreeing to take on a new Muppet Show from America.
I haven't heard anything about that.
Mostly I just want to see Lady Gaga and Jeff Dunham on the show.

Well I found this. But it turns out according to another site its not muppets but a different Jim Henson puppet show.

Well, like I said before, his character certainly wasn't needed in the next one, so that's okay, but it is a shame his behind the scenes passion won't be there.
But Walter should stick around.
At least it seems like pretty much everyone else is on board.
I'm not sure how much Walter can be involved in future muppet movies as a whistling muppet. But I guess that part of him will be sidelined for him doing whatever. We dont need him to be the focus of a movie either. He's already done that.

Just watched the documentary "Being Elmo." It.s… pretty much exactly what you'd expect from a documentary focusing on a pupeteer. Probably worth watching if you have any sort of interest in that kind of thing.
Just noticed its out next week over there. Anyone know if it's region free or what? I'm not planning on waiting longer than I have to to own this one.

It's probably as region locked as any dvd released stateside is.
And be warned… the blue ray is getting all the special features while the dvd is getting squat. The dvd with "free downloadable soundtrack" has some extras (But I already boguht the soundtrack, AND it's not free!) but...
Which is just... lame. I realize they're trying to force people into upgrading to blu ray since the average consumer doesn't give a crap about the minor difference in quality to balance out the much higher price, but... it's MUPPETS. For the family!

I understand a couple things like "Disney Intermission" being a blu exclusive because you can't do that on the dvd easily… but everything else?
I even have a blu eplayer in my ps3, but I don't want to spend the extra 10 bucks.
Oh sorry. I meant Blu-Ray version. Just kinda wary to import since I was all set to import South Park season 14 and they went and region locked that one too (very little Blu-Rays are locked) because they don't want other people getting 200 and 201 which they excluded from the DVD. If Blu-Ray is region free then it's all fine since it runs off the PS3 anyways and just need to import it from someone.
Got the movie today.
To be specific, I got what they call the "Wocka Wocka Value Pack" which includes the Blu-Ray, DVD, Digital Copy and Soundtrack (actually, you have to join the Disney Movie Rewards program and then type in a code to download a zip file containing the soundtrack, so that can be kind of a pain).
Anyway, I watched it and it's still an awesomely great movie. Now as for the bonus features….
! -Full Tex Richman Song: Loved it and it's a darn shame it didn't make it into the final cut (loved the visual of Richman's gold-plated cat).
! -Deleted Scenes: After hearing about the apparent 30 minutes of stuff that was cut out, this is kind of a letdown, but there's still some good stuff here. A lot is kind of pointless that I can see why it was cut out, such as an extra line in "Life's a Happy Song," Walter's extended nightmare scene, and a brief bit after they perform the Muppet Show theme. There's also a fairly fun bit where Walter, Gary and Mary meet some fatso dressed up as Superman, which foreshadows Walter's talent. But the real highlight of the deleted scenes is a hilarious bit with Billy Crystal, Ricky Gervais and Kathy Griffin, which alone is probably worth the extra money for the Blu-Ray.
! -The Muppets do a Read-Through: Mildly funny, but ultimately pretty pointless and disappointingly short.
! -Blooper Reel: Pretty funny at parts, though I wonder how much of it was actual bloopers and if some of it was staged (if it was all unplanned, those muppeteers are really committed to their roles).
! Still haven't seen the Making of… video or listened to the commentary, but I plan to soon.

! Yep, it had the prison scene. It had one or two funny bits.

! Just watched the Making of The Muppets bonus feature, and it's really just a scripted mockumentary. There are a few informative bits, but mostly it's all scripted bits done for humor's sake. And no, we don't get to see the Muppeteers.
! Oh, and two things I missed/forgot to mention about the deleted scenes. The fake Superman is played by Rob Corddry and the prison scene has a police officer played by Wanda Sykes.
Went to get my copy, and Wal-Mart was actually sold out of the Wocka-Wocka packs and BluRay/DVD Combos. I had to choose between the normal DVD with no extras, or the 'gift pack' with the BluRay/DVD Combo and 4 finger puppets of Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, and Gonzo.
Guess which I picked? wiggles fingers
Picked up the Blu-Ray. Some of the deleted scenes were pretty good. The other extras were short but pretty good. Woulda liked to have seen a lil more tho, listening to the CD you can hear that Smells like Teen spirit, Forget You and even Rainbow Connection are really cut short. Odd as it sounds I woulda liked to have seen the chart that shows popular things up close, squinting you can tell there's some random stuff there like a Boot and I think I saw a Chef's Hat too.
Liked the idea of pausing causes an intermission….however considering there's scenes with tons of muppets its nice to pause and see who is there which is kinda difficult if you have a 'now loading' screen.

We're getting The Muppets 2.
Director James Bobin and writer Nicholas Stoller are set to return behind the camera, though Jason Segel will not be back as the star.
"We kind of felt like we completed Gary's story in the first one," Stoller told ComingSoon.net in an interview posted earlier today, "and he's mostly interested in writing stuff for him to be in, which makes sense, right? He didn't want to go on and write the next one. I was like, 'Do you care if I do it with James?' He's like, 'Of course not.'"
Apparantly, Disney wants this thing done ASAP. As in, in time for Summer 2013 release. I kinda hope they take a little more time than that, just to make sure things are just as good as the first.
Also, it sounds like it's going to be comedy caper, according to Nicholas Stoller.

That's just it, I don't think they do right now; they may have a working script, but I don't think the music is set yet. The directors are calling Summer 2013 'a little unrealistic' and I agree, especially if we want the songs to be just as awesome as this last one. Genius needs time to be nurtured~
The last movie did great at Thanksgiving/Christmas; why try to compete against the other Disney/Pixar summer movies?

I had a giant Snuffleupagus doll as a kid. He was my favorite of the Sesame Street crew.

News is trickling in about The Muppets 2! We already knew it was going to be a caper-film, and we now know:
Filming is set to begin in a London's Pinewood Studios in January, and is expected to have a December 20th, 2013 release date.
New Muppets are going to be introduced
Jason Segel won't star in it, but MAY have a cameoBret McKenzie (Flight of the Conchords) is returning to write new music!
Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Bastards, Django Unchained, The Three Musketeers) is in talks to star in the film as an Interpol Agent hot on the tail of the Muppets as they cross Europe (the setting for the film). Other human characters include a Russian femme fatale.
Well I'm glad they didn't push for a Summer 2013 release for this; it gave Nick and James time to write a (hopefully) solid script. I hope there's a chance of getting it out a little sooner though; The Muppets really capitalized on the US Thanksgiving numbers as well as the Christmas season.
And the idea of Christoph in a Muppet movie is already making me laugh! I hope his involvement becomes official soon.

Seriously, I always make sure I watch this before Christmas. It was my favorite special growing up, and the season doesn't feel right without it.
Apparently the "sequel" (nevermind its like the 10th film) will be called "The Muppets…Again"
Reeeeally not fond of that title, for a lot of reasons. (The Muppets II wasn't any better.)

Trailer is nowhere near as creative, fun or enticing as any of the ones for the previous movie. I watched some of the fake movie trailers a dozen times! I'm going to go rewatch he fake romantic comedy one right now! This one… I didn't laugh once.
Hopefully it'll show more promises in the next one. Normally I'd say "the trailers don't matter if the movie is good" but... with Muppets at least, trailers DO make the movie... or at least, get the audience into the theatre.
Little early to say. It's too choppy to really recognize anything to laugh at in the first place. Ty Burrell looks fun, though.

So its not Muppets related, but it IS Jim Henson.
A fan took all sorts of old audio and lost footage and did what they could to assemble a workprint version of The Dark Crystal, which is probably closer to the tone and feel Henson originally intended. (test screenings got it chopped up, restructured, and narrated.)
Hope I have time to watch this later, sounds great.
