I mean, that's pretty darn harsh even on GANTZ's own standards. Oku has really gotten sick of his own story at this point.That should have been apparent when he named a recent chapter "Deus Ex Machina" and had giant robots spawn out of nowhere to effectively end this arc.

Never cared much for Reika but damn Oku. I'm kinda glad Izumi died early on and didn't live on or was brought back for this fuckery. I feel completely detached from the whole battle against that monster really unlike other missions. Felt it would've been much better if Kuruno just went in to hero mode like he's done in the past and found a way to win like he always does.

Well, both Keis are emotionally disturbed right now; the real one because he was suddenly warped into a Giant Mecha seconds after finally reuiniting with his precious Tae, and the fake one because of… this mess. Even Nishi seems to be losing his cool at this point. Maybe Oku will just troll us all by having Himekawa appear suddenly, having discovered the secret of Gantz, and kill everyone and everything, causing a Giant Game Over to appear. At this point, I'd take it over more "Tae-chan! Kei-chan!" crap.

Seriously she got killed off panel. We better get a flashback of the fight next chapter at last. Kurono2 is such a failure. Guns don't work on those monsters so let me scream Ahhhhhhh!!!! while I fire at them with two guns instead of using my sword. This was supposed to be his badass fight and instead Reika did what he couldn't do off panel. The worst part of it now is Kurono2 can go all Tae-Channnnnn now that Reika is out of the picture. Kurono2 should just kill himself now. He couldn't do shit with a working suit and now his suit is out of juice. He should drop the Kurono sure name and start calling himself Kei Kishimoto for being such a useless Gantz member.

I was good when there was a lot more character and villain development, it stopped being good when it becamse a clusterfuck of weird nameless aliens and shading so horrible you can't even tell what is going on.

Plus w/e happened to the art. At first I thought he was changing it like how Vagabond did with paint but it's just crap.
Oku did have a good story on his hands but apparently stopped giving a fuck.

I thought he was checking to see if her heart was beating and then applying cpr. Regardless Oku wasn't going to go this long without showing Reika's boobs again.

The early chapters, untill the budah fight were brutal and great. The ones between those and the statue angels were passable. I haven't been able to enjoy the invasion at all.

the statue angels was a joke. It started off tense and menacing, and then it got retarded.
Kurono fighting with half a face, Inabata getting killed via Monty Python style despite being able to fight off an army of statues (I mean come on, a GIANT can't sneak up on you), then they get transferred out of nowhere and there's literally NO CONSEQUENCES. No news report, there's thousands of killer statues and a GIANT one somewhere on earth.
Oku has longed confirmed that those aliens are real. Why is there no backlash?
The vampires just flat out vanished, and then to top it off, we get the "explanation" of how Gantz works. After that Oka alien (or whatever, the one Katou took down), the series took a major spill in entertainment.

Yeah, what Pyromonki said. The consistency wasn't there. Gantz was a strong series with a cool concept and engaging execution. But like MANY manga series, it built up something special but didn't know how to resolve any of it. A series that raises numerous questions and creates interesting plot-lines is only as good as it's answers and outcomes.
Gantz has failed on all fronts. The consistency of the events within the scope of our society (like the angels and how the world doesn't seem to notice. To even when the gantz crew is revealed and defeats a GIANT MASS MURDERING LIGHTNING DEMON… and life goes on... pfft)... and now with how the story is just DRAGGGING on and being boring and lacking ANY elements of what made it an interesting series in the first place.
The ending is gonna suck big balls people.

Everything else is true, though. Since the very beginning of Phase 3, Gantz was falling flat even as the b movie it tried to pose as.

I kinda agree with this. I would add that among those passable chapters, there were some really good moments, I really liked some parts with Izumi and think the Osaka mission was good despites its bad pacing.
But everything after has been quite terrible, mainly because of Oku's terrible pacing and his focus on things nobody really cared about (Tae, the second Kurono…) and he shunned some interesting plot points and characters.

I don't really know how to feel about this series. On the one hand it has the blood, tits and stone cold nihilism advertised but sometimes it just feels gratuitous which is kind of the point I guess but bluh.
I'd like it better if I felt it served something or had some sort of voice. Black Lagoon a similar series in a lot of respects is very characters driven and has a lot of dark and nihilistic views but they're views none the less. Gantz just feels empty. And it doesn't seem like anyone but Kurono has an arc. Except Nishi but he left as fast as he came.

So, Gantz Group B is not aware of what those in Gantz Group A (the ones in the robots) are doing, or is this a whole new set of giant Mecha come to kill everything/everyone? I'm guessing the former, since it shows the real Kei panting and swearing and breathing excessively, but I thought the mecha in Deus Ex were heading into the water toward the central tower, not toward shore.

Group B (Kurono2's team) got teleported to that isolated killing area to get killed by those monsters by the aliens. They didnt get teleported to the Giant Mechs since they had Gantz remove the bombs from their heads. They have no idea what going on with Team A (Kurono1). Nishi knows about the mechs since he's watching in the room with Takeshi. The Giant Alien Mechs are there to defend the tower. So Kurono1 and Cherry need to defeat them all to get to it.
So it doesnt look like we'll get that Reika fight flashback. The giant monster was almost done off panel as well since Kurono2 basically arrived when they did the killing blow. Oku better not rush this giant mech fight but with how everything is being rushed I wouldn't be surprised if you see Kurono1 killed like 2-3 and then we'll see a different scene. Go back to Kurono1 and show all the mechs destroyed.

Wow… you actually made this arc make sense.. how you actually got all of that from this poorly scripted mess is beyond me.

It's easy to follow but it's just that, like the other guy said this manga has lost it's voice or never decided what it's voice would be and struggled from arc to arc to properly establish it. There's a lot of good themes being used but it lacks direction.
I liked the manga when it still had the focus on Gantz being a global conspiracy and we were on our way to figuring out what it's all about but Oku went over the top with this invasion/mission/final arc and has lost sight of the development of even the main character and the plot lines of the side characters and tried to substitute it for weak tragedies in this war.

I have never been so emotional towards such a manga. Throwing lovers lives away at any given whim, so much death, it really made me cry when most of the team died in mission 3 and when Tae died in mission 7…

Interesting twist. Development for Sakurai will be good. I always liked the psychics.
These large scale mech chapters are going pretty quick though.

They did say that but if the mission is to wipe these aliens out given the fire power they have wouldn't be surprising to bring back every Gantz participant that died and didn't come back or winners of the game or players with the most kills.
