@Sakonosolo:
I just find it stupid when people talk about the game like they expected it to be the exact same damn game as BF2 or 2142. Yes, they removed commander, but that seems sensible to me to pick one player at random to sit back in the spawn showering artillery on people. I agree that the majority of the vanilla maps aren't very good for conquest but they at least gave the option to have infantry-specific maps instead of all massive spread out maps. They SLIGHTLY altered the Karkand maps, which again, this is an entirely new game. I can't really comment on the hacker's thing since I haven't come into contact with one hacker the entire time I've played.
You have a fair point about mod tools but I'm sure that's more EA's fault then anything. Same with no VOIP. I have no problem with hit detection or the balance of the guns.
You're right, this game isn't just an HD rerelease of BF2, which it sounds like that's what you were expecting. And I haven't played BF2 but I've heard both sides of the opinion from people who have. One side embraces this new game and others (like you) denounce it. I'm not quite sure what to make of that. And in this argument, people always bring up BF2 as their evidence when I'm sure players of BF1942 were saying the same about BF2 when it was released.
Ill just say this now, rather than later. I was not expecting an exact replica of previous games, but what I WAS expecting was a build on INNOVATION. Play a mod called Project Reality. The commander did not just sit on his ass there. Like with Desert Combat influencing BF2, they could have taken some aspects from these Mods. Mods are what made BF what it is today. I really could care less about arty strikes with commander, it was more of the fact at being able to DO something else besides capping flags. Take Wake island for an example. The map doesnt feel any similar because they took away assets and Uav Stations. I loved banding with my squad and making it a mission to destroy these Commander Assets. Commander was not all powerful if you had smart people on the team playing Spec ops.
About maps, realize that ALL of these maps (aside from Caspian) are basically made with Rush in mind. They are extremely linear, and in some cases smaller in the Conquest form. Even maps like Caspian involve clustered flags with this huge unplayable area surrounding it. Search up a map called Dragon Valley or Kubra Dam, you'll know what I'm talking about. Dont say some of the maps were infantry specific, 6 OF THE 9 were made specifically for infantry combat. Call that "balance" for vets and new players alike? I think not. I mean, how can one even call Grand Bazaar an infantry map?? its just a friggin giant square. I dont understand how they even made Karkand as good as they did after that. Mastuur City from BF2 was a perfect infantry map, with several tanks and 2 copters. I'm not gonna lie, I actually like Sharqi Peninsula, but like Wake island, the maps get stale when ALL you do is take flags. In other games there were other objectives like I had said before.
If you play on PC, it really just depends on how luck you are to not encounter one. Lol one time we had one hacker on each team, making the game we were in entirely unplayable. Heres an example:
. Oh and please, read the first comment in that video. Yes EA is at fault with Mods. Voip honestly isnt even need in a game were maps have no coordination to begin with. Heres the problem with Hit Detection:
or
Heres the problem with Client side:
About weapon unbalances, I mean more about firing modes. It is way more preferable to tap fire, than to actually use the burst or single. You can find a Vid somewhere on that.
People who embrace this game I can say really have never played or enjoyed 2142's titan mode, Bf2's jet speed, classic maps, alternative goals within the game and the like. Like I said, I was not expecting a replica, but NOTHING besides pretty graphics and underwhelming destruction were actually implemented in this game. NOTHING new came out of it, and probably nothing ever will. They didn't keep basically anything that made the previous games popular. AND at the same time they LIED to us about it. Im not going to sit here and quote the community manager Daniel Matros about all the promises he said DICE made, but let me tell you this, the game was dumbed down from its original threshold. Its not that it's DIFFERENT, its that its LACKING. Oh and BF2 is basically a sequel to a mod called Desert Combat, in which most people loved the innovation in that mod. Which is why a sequel was spawned for BF.
EDIT: about Skyrim, I dont play american RPG's so i know nothing about it. All I know is that they actually thank their PC fanbase more than anything and provide them with Mods to keep them happy.
