It was just a HORRIBLE episode considering that they had the biggest plot hole since Star Wars Episode I.
:blink: I know Qui Gon Jinn's appearance more or less contradicts some of the stuff in the original three movies but I'm curious to know about the other stuff.
I still can't believe how awful Bon Clay's,Robin's, & Crocodile's voices are.

What did they change Cobra's name to? I wasn't really paying attention. And Trace? What the hell?
I made 3 poor quality clips from this episode. They're from my digi camera, and I was recording stuff, so you can see the my T.V, and it's shakey.
The clips I made were:
-Ace first appears- You'll hear me making comments like "Trace? What the hell?" And I sound like Dubsopp when I'm saying it.-Vivi explaining the Barouqe Works- There's some commentary from me like "They skipped him!" and "Because he's gay!".
-Bon Clay on Little Garden, and the first appearance of Crocodile.
Senshi's commentary: Ugh, dub Robin!Rappin' Chopper:
"Yo; I was a reindeer livin' out in 'da snow! But then this old geeza' doctor brought me into his home! After healin' my wounds, I felt real phat. Then, old docta' Hiruk gave me this blingin' hat! My family beat me, shunt me, but it's all tight. Because I'm doin' my doctor remedies all night. I look like freak with my Human Human fruit. But now I'm with some gangsta' pirates who like to steal loot! All the girls like my blue nose. Yeah; it's the way that I get the Record scratching. Usopp's the guy with all 'da glory. He's my main man with all his tight stories. Zolo's Santoryu skills are on ice. You betta' watch out, or you gonna get sliced! Sanji's the cook servin' up the main dish. Don't mess with him, unless that's your wish. Luffy's 'da captain with the straw hat! His Gum Gum skills are real real tight. Vivi's the princess of Alabasta. ahem Back to the topic. Yeah, though the voices weren't bad (except for our favorite okama), the name changes are horrible. How in the world are they going to edit his tatto?
And it seems they left in the deer meat scene. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but it also seems they're going to air the uber-sucky Alabasta filler. As if leaving Carmen in without Daddy wasn't bad enough...

Ok. Time for my imput. So here we go….
First... Yeah, the dub hasn't changed. But we all expected that, right? And by the slim chance that it does improve (SLIM) it won't be till like... Late Alabasta at the earliest since I'm pretty sure these first couple of episodes were meant to air on 4Kidstv... But didn't due to the ratings it had on that channel... Of course this is 4Kids were talking about so... Who knows.
Anyways... As for the episode itself... Besides the "stoopid ass" (and I mean that strongly) name changes, the actual episode fared alright. Or averagely for this dub at least. Ace, in my opinion, has an awsome voice. Heh, right now I think I like it more than Zoro's. Crocodile actually sounds better than he does in Grand Battle (not a WHOLE lot, but notable) and Robin's still ok. Then we got Bon Clay (at least they kept his "Un Duex Troes!" calls) who's voice many people hate. I don't really prefere it... But it's actually pretty funny to me. Of course that could wane, so I better just keep my mouth shut.
But damn, did this topic bloom. I haven't seen this many posts in a good while....

I am just voicing my opinion as to what I think. The accents weren't as bad as they were at first. Bon Clay sounds less black, and Robin sounds less Southern, To me Robin sounding a little better and Ace( I refuse to say his dub name) voice are the good points of the episode everything else was full of plot holes.

I figured Croc would sound better, and Robin was expected to lose the heavy accent because it isn't fitting for more than just a couple sentences. Bon Clay sounds good, but I don't think "Headin' for Disasta" was the episode the original clip came from.
Ace having a good voice is a relief, but his name change is not. I should note that even though this episode may be "average", that's a depreciation from the "good" episodes we have seen during Drum (in relative dub terms). Furthermore, we can all expect horrible things to come as this arc unfolds.
Doesn't look good. OP died in America that one day long ago in September 2004…

Naw, a comparison is a comparison, I don't really care. Just that, there's a new page of threads with angry posts every 15 mins and you know, I'm not really happy with the name changes either. I continue to think about how comfortable I am watching the Naruto dub just to pass the time vs. watching One Piece, my most favorite anime to watch.

Must agree with you on Robin. It's not really hickish, more along the lines of elegant southern belle. Zoro ounds a tad too old, but is closer to the orignal I think. Usopp, Luffy, Sanji, and Nami are all horrible. Chopper's alright I suppose. All and all this episode could've been a whole lot worse. Now I'm praying that they won't make Luffy's blood against Crocodile a bottle of cranberry juice that Luffy spilled or something equally retarded.

Well, I won't be seeing this episode for…a year, since that's about how long it'll take YTV to get this far, unlesss I watch it somewhere else. However, I could just cry. What horror. 4Kids only makes two character name changes in the whole series (Zolo and Chaser) and all of a sudden, BAM! We get hit with the worst of it. Trace...well, that's a word at least, but I dread to learn what they changed Portgas to. But Nobra? Nobra? NOBRA? That's absolutely terrible and ridiculous and makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Though since he's a guy I guess he would be wearing "no bra"...heh, weak joke.
As for the rest...well, at least Mr. 3 and Ms "Aprilfoolsday" were included, despite it being a gaping hole in the plot. Meh, wouldn't be the first plothole 4Kids left...sigh

It's just… having the gall to show clips from Little Garden and having the characters know craploads about it (an island that doesn't even EXIST), having characters from it mentioned in Grand Battle and on the TCG (In TCG ads in Shonen Jump!) is so irritating. And it doesn't make sense.
Maybe Vivi will have her heartfelt nakama-x moment just outside of Little Garden (while Chopper is down with the flu).
And I thought Zoro hearing a nonexistent whale was bad...

While not the WORST dubbed episode yet, it's on my list as the most annoying… though I admit I haven't seen the dubbed Mihawk fight or the infamous "Fantastic Voyage".

The Mihawk dub isn't that bad but it looks like Mihawk is a jedi the way he pushes Zoro into the ocean by "wounding him"
Maybe 4Kids realized after the Kuro arc that this series is impossible to make for kids so they decide to try and cancel themselves by making the best arc horrifying. Plus, the plotholes.

But it doesn't matter, the bottom line is that if someone owns the rights to a name then no one else can use it or they'll be sued for royalties. That's the "most likely" reason Zoro was changed to Zolo. Cobra and Ace could fall under that category.

Not Ace. There have been many people through cartoons and movies who were named Ace. No one holds the rights to that name.
