Considering this almost certainly will not be an open world game like Fallout, bugs will be easy to catch and there should be hardly any if none.

I just… really can't understand how they can have the Fallout games be so buggy. It reeks of a rushed product, when in fact that's not the case at all, and they end up breaking it more when they do try to fix it.
It just... goes over my head.
Speaking of head, I shot some chicks head off in the game (actually the first enemy I encountered outside the vault) and suddenly a 50-foot red pyramid spawns from her decapitated head. WUT.
-
I keep saying it but nobody seems to listen. If you have a game as massive and open as Fallout 3 it's incredibly difficult to catch bugs. Plus I think it's just the way that their engine is made as well. Fallout 3, New Vegas, Oblivion, Skyrim, all run on pretty much the same engine. It's not developer laziness or rushing, it's a combination of the kind of game they're making and engine quirks. This isn't really a problem on PC since pretty soon after release people release fan made patches and mods that fix the bugs, but one the consoles it sucks to be them :ninja: .
-
I just don't quite understand why they can't manage to fix them as much as they try, especially if fans can… surely the people who actually MADE the game could.
-

Well of all the people who work at bethesda how many do think are currently bug fixing vs the ones making DLC and they still have to deal with fixing bugs for all 3 platforms and all regions (france, germay what have you)
Now of the millions of people who bought the game even if only 1% of that total mod thats still more people at bethesda and they only have to worry about the pc version.
-
Besides, they're console ports and the motto of console developers is "Minimum work" followed by "DLC, DLC, DLC" :sideways: .
-
So basically you're telling me the developer/publisher are greedy shits who can't even be bothered to fix their own products?
Yeah, that sounds about right.
Hey guys, remember the days when you'd buy a game that'd have all the content right there on the disc and running into a bug was considered a cool easteregg? HAHAHAHAHA!

Those still exist. They're just Nintendo exclusives :P

hello guys, i was not sure whether to make a thead or not but any way am plannng to build my first Pc Gaming, am a total noob at this, i have bought a book called Build A Better Pc 2010 edition, to help me.
Here are the component's, that are on my list, is it a good match, or do i need to change one /two things.

You're gonna have to make sure that your RAM is compatible with your motherboard, that's one of the most important things. And are you doing to use that computer only for gaming? If so, your CPU and RAM are overkill. The only difference between i5s and i7s is that i7s have hyperthreading, which gives you 4 virtual threads, which games don't use. So if you want to save money I'd highly recommend an i5 2500. Also, games nowadays rarely even use 4GBs of RAM so I'd say get either 6 or 8GBs of RAM (I have 8GBs) and save some money. And like I said, make sure your RAM is compatible with your motherboard, there should be a list somewhere on the product's (motherboard's) page.
One more thing, I've never heard of Ultra power supplies. You need to make sure you get a good brand to make sure you're getting a good PSU. I'd highly suggest anything Corsair.
Now, I'm not telling you not to get an i7 or 16GBs of RAM, if you have the money then go for it, it's just insane overkill. I'm tempted to call overkill on your video card as well but video cards are used pretty quickly so again, if you have the money, go for it. For reference though, I have a single HD5870 and have no problem maxing out most games (only ones I can't are the horrendously optimized ones, like Metro 2033).
So long story short, make sure your RAM is compatible with your mobo and that you go with a good brand PSU. CPU and RAM are overkill but if you have the money, go for it.
Oh, and make sure everything will fit in your case, I'm talking about the CPU cooler here, I've seen pictures of it and I just want to make sure you don't buy it and then find out it won't fit.
Edit: Also, check how many PCI and PCI-E slots your mobo has just in case you need a network card or want another video card.

thanks for the respond.
What i basically did was mix an (Extreme and High End Gaming build) to make that list since i wanted some thing that will last for years to come, so i thought i might as well pour more money into instead getting a mid range gaming pc.
here is the website, where i made my list between an Extreme and High End gaming, although most of it is actually for high end gaming build.
http://www.build-gaming-computers.com/high-end-gaming-computer.htmlAbout the CPU - most comments i heard is that for gaming only i5 2500k is the better option, i do use photoshop for colouring manga, i mean apart from gaming and price, what does the i5 2500k offer for me to consider it.
Yeah the component's do match, since like i said am basically taking there recommendation build, between the extreme and high end build, from that site.
plus, all those components are linked to tigerdirect.com
have you bought anything from there, since am in the UK do you think is better to buy internationally or within the UK.
i also heard newegg.com is good for buying Pc components.
-
I used a store near me to buy my parts, though I did buy my RAM through Newegg. I've heard that Tigerdirect has incredibly high shipping costs.
There's really no reason to get the i5 2500k over what you said besides price. The 2500k is considered the best price to performance ratio of any CPU. And I bet the i7 will help Photoshop performance. So if you're willing to spend the extra money then I say go for it. And you said all the parts are compatible so your build should be good. With that you shouldn't have to upgrade for a very long time. That's still a fucking expensive computer though.
-
So basically you're telling me the developer/publisher are greedy shits who can't even be bothered to fix their own products?
That's a real negative way to think about it.
For the sake of argument lets say 100 people work at bethsda. Now of that hundred how many do you think work in QA vs the art department, sound, level designers, lore/story, etc. After finishing a product they need to start working on their next game or dlc and the farther they get in the next product the more programmers and testers they need to bring over and less that can work on bug fixes.
Even then the QA department still has tons of problems they have to deal with even on the smallest of bugs. There's what 7 versions of the game (US, UK, french, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian) multiplied across 3 different platforms that have to be worked with for every problem they find. Still for a game like this it can take them a good 10 to 20 hours just to replicate a bug let alone find a way to fix it that doesn't cause even more problems.
-
I'll still never understand why Lucasarts didn't allow Obsidian to patch KOTOR 2.
-
A dozen playtesters aren't going to catch as much stuff as a million playtesters after the game comes out. Plain and simple fact.
-
There's some news going around, though it's yet to be officially confirmed, that GSC Game Worlds, the makers of the Stalker games, is shutting down. I think I'm going to cry.

Possible confirmation that HL2:E3/HL3 will be announced at the next E3.Is that your email that he replied to?
I have heard rumors of a Half Life Episode 3/ Half Life 3 but never found anything definitive until this.
-
No, it wasn't my email. And it probably isn't real anyway. But a man can hope.
-
Considering that I've didn't remember the games that I've played this year untill I sat down to remember them, I've decided to make a list of games that I want to play, badly.
For now I've only got Kid Icarus and the next Starcraft expansion as the "Must Play" with Skyrim in a "once It gets a better release", plus a bunch of others from "very" to "meh, I barely liked the last one" level of intention to play. There are also games of old generations in that list, like Half-Life and Terranigma.
I want to keep a better track of what I play next year, I've seen people with gamerscores and stuff in their profile, that must be some social app thing from xbox and ps3 I guess, there's way to do that profile manualy? or to integrate it with steam?
-
Skyrim might be buggy but you really shouldn't wait to play amazing games just because they're a little buggy. If you really want to play a game then do it. Also go play all the HL games. They're really cheap on Steam.

I want to play a cool edition of Skyrim, one with all the fuzz and dlc and stuff. I'll look for a cool steam pack of HalfLife next year.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I just played oblivion for the first time around agust this year, I haven't even gone halfway on everything, there's a lot of Tamriel? Imperial City? Cyrodel? the central country to go.
-
Okay I can understand that. Not sure when the game of the year edition is going to be released. Also, fair warning, don't get Half Life Source, get the original. There's no point in it, it's pretty much exactly the same as the original but with ragdolls. And this will probably be released when you end up buying these anyway.
-
I don't know if this'll be put in the previous post or not.
So look at these 2 images:
First image is Half Life, second is Cry of Fear. They're both running on the same engine. Cry of Fear is actually a mod of Half Life. I would have had no idea just looking at them.
-
If you have a computer, don't worry about Skyrim. It plays fine on computer and already a good amount of mods that improve things out so far and they only increase every day.
So drop Oblivion and get Skyrim. Skryim is 100x better imo than Oblivion.
-
100x better, really? I hear they're pretty much the same game but with tweaks and improved graphics and the such.
-
There are tweaks that are worth a x25, and they did all 4.
-
Holy shit!
If anybody hasn't read this series of E-mails regarding a customer inquiry you really should.
I can't believe this clown hasn't gotten fired yet.
Read it here -
lol I had a good long laugh at that yesterday.

Read it hereOf course he isn't going to get fired.
He's got connections.
He knows people.
He was Sonic the Hedgehog's fuck buddy at one point.
The PA guys are screwed.

And no installing and checking for trophies…
The only thing I like about gaming right now is fighting game patches.
Aside from Borderlands, I've yet to see DLC that actually felt worth my purchase.

Apparently he was dropped by the company and also made a public apology.
And yeah. I don't do DLC. Even the free day 1 DLC is never worth it. I have high hopes for the Fire Emblem DLC. Mainly because I can never get enough of those games anyways.

Okay, I need to rant a bit.
One issue that is bugging me most in modern gaming is not one of gameplay, nor is it one of boring game design. The thing that frustrates me most is the tendency to treat the as an incompetent baby. This is, admittedly, a problem that can almost exclusively be applied to modern Nintendo games, but it is a very troubling issue. First of all, if I wanted assembly instructions, I would have checked the box. I'm looking at you, Skyward Sword, aka Mr. "3 Minute Mandatory Instructional Video on How to Plug the Wii Motion Plus into the One Possible Slot it Could Fit In on the Controller." If you cannot figure that out, then I have no idea what you are trying to do with something that requires mild amounts of brain activity. Second of all, I don't need to continually be told the answer to the puzzle. This may come as a surprise, but the fun I derive from a video game is to an extent related to solving these puzzles with my own abilities, so stop bludgeoning me over the head with answers. Third and most importantly, no, the level is not too hard for me. Stop telling me it is every time I die. Somebody find me a gamer that likes being told "THE LEVEL IS TOO HARD, TAKE A BREAK" or "HERE'S A HINT BECAUSE YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY SUCKING." If I wanted to take a break, I would have hit the pause button and if I wanted a goddamn hint, I would put down the game for the half a minute it takes to consult gamefaqs.
I understand that they're trying to cater to a younger audience, but video games are meant to challenge. If you want to ease someone into a game, build in a smooth difficulty curve and maybe build a clue or two into the world. Don't treat anyone like they can't play it. If they can't that's either the game's fault or genuinely the player's fault.
-
I think you need to try this game
[hide][/hide] -
If I wanted to throw my life away that easily, I would probably just overdose on a combination of DMT and cocaine.
-
Hell yes. I recently played the first one a few months back but found it difficult to play with the controls. LBA2 is still one of my most fave games ever. Too bad I can't play it anymore.
-
I also loved LBA2 to death, never got around finishing the first game.
So i'm going to get this one. -
LBA2 was an awesome game. I never played the first one, so I will be definitely getting the remake.
-
I've… never heard of the games at all.

Honestly I met a kid a while back that is probably the target audience for this sort of thing. When I loaded Croc for the little bastard on my Playstation (due to being ordered to do so by my superiors) the little shit was absolutely mesmerised by the concept of jumping. He literaly spent about ten lives just dying over and over again by walking off the platform into an abyss. And even bluntly hinting at the fact he needs to jump fell on deaf ears.
I know Croc has a weird control scheme you have to get used to, but if you can't even figure out the basic need to jump over a hole, then you fail at gaming.
-
I saw the same thing a Gamescom last year. A dad and his kid had to ask me how to jump in Sonic Generations. Then I heard the boy ask his dad how you shoot >_>
I was wishing I had a knife so I could stab myself the whole time.
-
I don't understand though. I know that there are some games where you can't jump but most games you can. I mean even if the person plays Call of Duty all day you can jump in that game. I wonder what games these people are playing that make them forget that you can jump in games.
-

Or the kid….....
What? :ninja:
-
When my brother was younger and played a new game, he always asked "how do you jump?" After about 5 new games it got really annoying… Partly because I felt it was better if he found out on his own, and even that doesn't take much effort/time.

Sony was quick to shoot down rumors that a PS4 would be announced at this year's E3, but things just got a lot more interesting all of a sudden, as cloud gaming service Gaikai has commented that one of the current console manufacturers actually won't be creating another console for the next generation. Speaking during CES, Nanea Reeves, chief product officer for Gaikai, predicted, "Not all of the current console makers will have one more generation. That will be the big news at E3."If true, wow. With Wii U guaranteed to launch in 2012, that means it's either going to be Microsoft or Sony. Our take is that it's probably Sony because financially the company would have a tougher time with the huge R&D and manufacturing for yet another new console.
Beyond that, it's easy to speculate that perhaps Sony is working on some major cloud gaming partnership with Gaikai instead of devoting resources to another piece of hardware. We'll bring you more as we hear it!http://www.industrygamers.com/news/sony-or-microsoft-to-bow-out-of-next-gen-console-race-predicts-gaikai/ May be just rumors, but recently I've heard lots of talk of Sony not doing too well lately. One thing's almost for certain, neither MS nor Sony will unveil a new console at E3 2012. Sony, maybe, but I doubt it, and MS would be foolish to work/plan/announce a new console.
EDIT: Also, this
Between 150 and 300 workers at Foxconn's Technology Park in Wuhan, China, where parts for the Xbox 360 are reportedly manufactured, have threatened to commit mass suicide to protest working conditions, according to reports.
Indignant workers threaten suicide at Foxconn park in Wuhan" Want China Times reports about 300 employees at the plant threatened to jump off the top of a building within the technology park over a payment dispute with their boss. They reportedly asked for a pay rise on 2 January, when their boss told them either to quit their jobs with compensation or keep them without getting extra pay.
However, when many of the employees selected the first option, the company cancelled the deal and did not give them the money they were owed, sparking the employee protest. The mayor of Wuhan was reportedly called to stop the employees from committing suicide and they were eventually persuaded not to do it.http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/01/11/foxconn_mass_suicide/
-
Consider the fact that Gaikai, who started this rumor, is a cloud gaming service and would be incredibly happy if something like this happened, I'd say this rumor is just that, a rumor. This would be like Burger King saying that McDonalds is gonna stop selling hamburgers because that would benefit Burger King themselves.
So yeah, no panic here.
-
Go Wuhan workers! I'm glad they're standing up for themselves. I don't really want them to kill themselves but I don't want the company to get away with that either.
-
Since 2011 was full of these comments. If Sony's doing badly I think they should become a third party for Nintendo.
:P (awaits someone to take this seriously)
