Are you retarded?
I may be retarded cause I actually liked some of the stuff that mcdreamy put out there.

If anyone ever needed a proof the gantz author was a total douchebag
Abloobloobloobloo I hate a fellow author who made a vanilla reply to some dumb radio host question
What is he 12
Wait he draws asinine gory softporn with Lara Croft clones of course he's 12
That wasn't a proper reaction for a veteran mangaka, for sure.
Getting overjelaous about a young debutant artist, that's petty.
He might not like he fact that shingeki volumes sell like twice as many as gantz.
He should deal with it.
Maybe he doesn't like the fact Shingeki no Kyojin feels like an actual story written and drawn by a human being and not just a random collection of juvenile fantasies printed by a fratboy supercomputer

Interesting concept mcdreamy, but you left out that the colossal titan is Eren's father :D
If you can't see the genius don't feel bad lol. just ask a question and I'll see if I can explain my logic.
Edit: I was a bit too enthusiastic with my ideas and didn't show my thought process at all.
don't worry about the troll, he's been reported. and on your theory, I thought that was pretty cool, I mean it would make sense that the titans are just a result of humanity trying to find an end all cure to disease which is to pretty much acheive immortality,. . .they succeeded. . .somewhat, at a price, your theory accounts for why they eat humans even though they dont need to, how they find humans in the first place, and even how they can evolve. It even explains why the Doctor knows so much and was able to turn eren into a titan. The 50M red titan probably evolved from this Titan mist or whatnot. but yeah they doctor/scientist father of eren, probably figured a lot of this out through research, maybe found some archives somewhere, or found some kind of records from the scouting legion fighting titans to figure it out, etc etc. . .
the only thing that it doesn't explain is, why they only run on sunlight, and how/why was that titan able to talk to that one guy with the notebook.
also from your theory, maybe the doctor figured out what the "miracle drug" was and perfected it or something, gave it to himself and to eren before the 50m giant came to town (as he must have known it was coming. . .)
from what I can tell, mcdreamy was making an enthusiastic fanfic theory. harmless really.
so play nice Jacko.
holy smokes, just read back a few pages on the forum where peopel are saying the female giant is annieand shes trying to stop the main scouting legion from finding out the truth of the giants, and it fits with the theory posted on this page by dreamy, in the sense that it would be why eren's father was a) gone before and during the attack and b) how he found eren to inject him with the giant stuff and c) how he was able to do that over the course of days/weeks without attracting giants to him in the middle of the forest'/abandoned houses.
of course he(eren's father) knows the truth about the giants including how to not be detected by them, he probably figured out the the faction who wants to keep all that a secret was after him, and would destroy whole cities to find/kill him to keep the secret safe.(which is why that 50m giant appeared that was JUST big enough to kill the wall) that giant was probably created by the government too.
Also, about the female giant being annie, right before this encounter(with the female giant), the author developed her in a way that would be rasing the death flag in other series' or at least the "something will happen to this character" flag.
I mean just look at this page: http://www.mangareader.net/shingeki-no-kyojin/18/6
it just looks like annie knows shes proably going to have to kill them and is . . .not happy about it!
here's another one: http://www.mangareader.net/shingeki-no-kyojin/18/7
im also thinking that annie was the one that killed the experimemtal titans.
in anycase, this Isehara guy is making a one hell of a story (pun intended) I wonder if this has the potential to be better than Berserk story wise…
Theories are only worth anything when they're not complete shots in the dark and when the guy coming up with it bases it on solid manga material, not just rambling about baseless conjecture
If you blabber for twelve paragraphs about how Titans are creatures made entirely of ass vapor who eat people because they're created by human farts and they want to get revenge that doesn't make an interesting theory worth discussing
I think it's far more likely that the titans were created to stop conflict among humans by giving them a seemingly undefeatable opponent to unite against but it obviously backfired due to "human nature" represented by the King and the other douchebags living in the innermost walls
I know Isayama mentioned Watchmen on his blog, there's the line by Dot Pixie to Eren too, it's likely something along those lines

I think your problem is that you don't ask enough questions. Like how does Eren create a titan out of nothing? Or why couldn't Eren control the titan during the reconquest mission? Simple questions that lead to simple answers if you'd only think about it. I admit I threw some theories out there without explaining them, but anyone who is actually a hardcore fan of Shingeki no Kyojin would have come up with some of those on their own anyway.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you find all of my theories to be bullshit then you just probably aren't as deep into as am.
Ah Oku, so insecure you take time out of your busy schedule you pull the utterly ridiculous "HE STAGED IT SO HE COULD LOOK COOL AND HUMBLE" completely out of your ass just to throw some shit at him. Hey dude, why don't you spend some of that precious effort on your own series. You know, instead of engaging in chimpanzee butthurt.
I think your problem is that you don't ask enough questions
It's not that I don't ask enough questions, it's that I know these questions currently don't have answers or even the beginning of a hint at an answer, and as such droning on about them is pointless

This is my response to about 70 % of OP threads, honestly.
people actually respond to those retarded op threads? and yes a majority of them are retarded.
Its pretty sad when people cant discuss theories without people trying to bash the theory starter, I would have loved to discuss more of this but really with the people here bashing anything that they dont like, it makes this not fun anymore. Thanks for that, and thanks for inflating my ignore list even further,
Im peacing out of this thread.
Bye.
Oh no please don't leave
Everyone in the thread wants to have a lot of fun discussing theories with you
I have theori!!! Here is: pwntitan is pwn!!! Please to discuss and do not forget be poliet! :getlost:
Aldrich is right. Having theories is nice but if they have no evidential basis in canon they're mere flights of fancy.
I just put out a few of my conclusions, hoping to see if anyone else came to the same conclusion. If you have no idea what I was talking about, then that post was not for you so please don't respond. On the other hand, if you were interested in anything I put out there, you can ask me a question and I'll see if I can do my best to answer.
Spent the past half a week getting up to date with this series and… what can I say. It's very impressive. This series definitely has a lot of potential to be one of the better/best Shonen of recent memory. It definitely has one of the best starts I personally have read in manga.
There are many notable factors going for it, but I think my personal favorite factor is the characters. Mr. Isayama seems to have thought to himself "If the characters are boring, it's really, really hard to make the story good." because it feels like he is constantly trying to make the characters as interesting as possible, and to develop their personalities. I can greatly respect that, because if I ever become a writer than I would definitely spend a lot of time on writing the characters of my story and making the audience care about them. And I think any writer worth his or her weight would too.
So on the whole I've greatly enjoyed the 24 chapters of this series I've read and I'm definitely going to be keeping up with this series because I went on a very good emotional ride with this series in a rather short time. This series definitely has a very high Holy Shit Quotient.
Chapter 25 raw came out yesterday.
As for Annie being the female titan, I was a bit worried about that initially when I first saw the titan, but I later realized it most likely wasn't Annie. One of the reasons I thought it was Annie was because she kept putting her hand next to her head like Annie does when she's kicking, but I later realized that the female titan was doing that to protect her neck.

jesus fucking christ
jesus fucking christ
Uh, what does that mean? Have you forgotten Annie's kicking style? Looks really similar to the way that female titan protects her neck, but it's mostly likely just coincidence. It's a legitimate mistake to make if you didn't realize the titan was protecting her neck.
Average chapter
Isayama's art is starting to look better though, he still has a few problems with human bodies but he's made some pretty massive improvements on faces
I liked how Reiner Jean and Armin looked so different and recognizable these past few chapters
I enjoyed the chapter immensely, especially Rivaille's speech about Eren being a monster. I can't tell if Eren's gonna go titan or not, but it's just like Rivaille said, either way is fine. If he does go titan I'm happy, and if he doesn't I'm still happy :D
Delicious! I've read the first 16 chapters right now. There are so many scenes in this where I'm just leaning back in my chair with a wide grin and a little evil laughter about how good this is. The Titan Flesh Wall. Nahahaha, awesome! And sure enough it sells really well in Japan so we won't see it end prematurely. This is great! What a great manga.
At first I though this would be another Gantz-like goreflick. But it actually has it's good action from plus really nice characters and an interesting plot. It's a plot that could go down the Berserk way of Eren becoming the slaughterer of all that's deamon titan, or it could go the Nausicaä way where there's really a lot more behind all this seemingly nonsensical killing. Probably something in between and definitly looking forward to it.
Quick. Question what chapters does volume 5 cover?
chapters 19-22 I think
Thanks and here I thought I was behind a full volume
They're going to make a live action film, guys:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2011-09-27/kamikaze-girls-nakajima-helms-film-about-invading-giants
I fear the series is still a bit too young for a movie
I wonder if there is a chance of this getting licensed
The only company that could license this series is kodansha us division
The raw for October should be coming out any day now.
chapter 26 raw is out. (did a double post so the thread would go up)

They don't exist anymore.
Chapter 26 is out.
And it's pretty damn fine.
I´ll wait for it to get upped to an online reader! =)
Damn, now I want to read 27.

That was great, can't wait for ch27.
2 things : this manga is a great read and Hanji is hilarious.
About the chapter, i don't think it's a good idea to extract the human inside the female titan now that she didn't complete her task (whatever it was). She may die without letting any information. Like Hanji said, they still need to study how a titan can return to human form.
So what's the release schedule like for this manga(Similar to Berserk or Vagabond)? I finally caught up so I don't have to worry about being spoiled.
So what's the release schedule like for this manga(Similar to Berserk or Vagabond)? I finally caught up so I don't have to worry about being spoiled.
So far it has a consistent monthly schedule so don't worry, it'll come out way more frequently than Berserk, Vagabond, HxH etc.
What were your thoughts on it? Personally I think it's really interesting and has the potential to be one of the best Shonen of recent memory. And yes it is a Shonen. Just a really, really dark one like Death Note and Claymore.
I like it a lot so far
I think the mystery of what the titans actually end up being will keep me hooked.
I kind of figured it was a shonen because of the magazine its published in. Just like Claymore is published in a shonen magazine you get the sense that the series is a bit of a subversion from the basics of the genre.
I see there's going to be a movie but I'm not really sure if what we have so far from the manga can make a faithful adaption.
Personally I'm a bit worried that there aren't enough enemies besides the Titans. If the Titans are the only enemies in the series might get a bit boring. I had a similar problem with Claymore at first but it didn't take long for the mangaka to introduce a change of place with other kinds of Yoma and antagonistic Claymores. Still, I imagine it won't take too long for other kinds of enemies to be introduced. We're kind of getting another one with this female Titan who functions very differently from the other Titans. We'll certainly learn more later on so I'll trust in the mangaka. It does seem like Levy/Rivalle (does anyone know what his name actually is?) and his superiors will be villains, although Levy may end up being an anti-hero.
There was some speculation earlier that the female titan is Annie. I think it's quite possible that that's the case, Isayama was definitely planning something with her character. Only thing that bothers me is that she called out for Armin, and I don't think she and Armin shared any scenes together. Either way we might find out next chapter so just wait a month. I saw a few pages back that people saw no point in speculation and I can understand their arguments but I just personally wanted to share my thoughts.
My favorite character is probably Armin. I've just always really liked that human type character, who's just a normal person who happens to have some kind of talent and that's all they really have going for them but in spite of that they try their best to succeed and it just makes that kind of character very endearing. Very similar to Usopp in that regard, and Usopp was always one of my favorites. I do fear that if not pulled off well he could come across as rather emo with his whole "HOW CAN I MEASURE UP TO EREN AND MIKASA!!! :(" thing. But I'm going to trust in Isayama. He seems to know what he's doing.
And lastly… movie. Um, y'know what I'll settle for a good manga (and hopefully a good anime down the line) I don't really need a movie. But who knows. On that note for some reason I feel like this is the kind of series that Madhouse would adapt into an anime. I would really like to see that actually. Make it happen.
