Well it really depends on how good the original debut he had planned was. And looking at what some of the supernovae have done since (Law & luffy, Drake inciting an Emperor, Bonney and Sakazuki), Oda either planned it longer then he said he did or he's fantastic at doing things on the fly.

Jinbei works for a few different reasons imo actually. His strength allows the SH's Monster Trio to open up into the Monster Foursome, which is good because now it doesn't always have to be Zoro and Sanji backing up Luffy as he takes on the big baddy. He's also obviously a fishman so Luffy's diverse crew continues to grow bigger and more diverse with the addition of a 3rd race. A minor point but now when one of the crews DF users is submerged they have almost nothing to worry about seeing as they have the Knight of the Sea there to help (I understand this was already Zoro & Sanji for awhile but why not have the best swimmer swim?) Jinbei joining the SH's also instantly makes them more respected and legit, being a former 1st mate of Fisher Tiger/Captain/Warlord. Even though he isn't universally liked by everybody, he seems to be universally respected by almost everyone so seeing Jinbei join the SH's would open even more eyes to Luffy and his quest to be the Pirate King. I'm not necessarily saying Jinbei will 100% definitely join, I'm just saying that if it's going to be anybody at this point, nobody fits better than him (both literally and figuratively).

I see where you're coming from, but this argument relies heavily on something that we don't know for sure. That is jimbei has many relation to many islands.
Also it's not like there was no precedent for the Strawhats to have relations that they haven't built during their adventure.
Like Luffy and Rayleigh, which their connection stemmed from hatchan and shanks. Or Luffy and Kuma/Iva, where the connection stems from his dad.
Also not quite the same Robins enemy connection carried over to the crew. There are a few more if you have to know I'll list them but it should be enough to dent your argument. :P
The only known relationship / interaction between Jimbei and anyone important we've seen was with Whitebeard and Ace. It's somewhat baseless to fear he'll already know Kaido, Big Mom, Dragon, etc.
I simply point you towards the East Blue saga throughout which the name "Pirate Hunter" Zoro carried a lot more weight than the name "Straw Hat" Luffy.
Also the Straw Hats may already have connection to Big Mom through Lola. Luffy already had a connection to Whitebeard through his brother Ace. His ties with Shanks are already clear. So Luffy had ties with Whitebeard and Shanks…2/4 Emperors right off the bat. Possibly Big Mom through Lola. Not really sure how Jimbei knowing Kaido changes much. Luffy's also the son of Dragon and Grandson of Garp. It's not like adding Jimbei to the crew will create bonds / ties / relationships with many more famous people when Garp, Dragon, Shanks, Whitebeard, Ivankov, Kuma, and Rayleigh are already covered.

If he ever joins, I'd prefer to wait until all the SHs have associated with him to the point that Luffy has. As of this point, in this arc, Jinbe remains an ally of the SHs, according to the rest of the crew. Even Luffy only sees him as a friend, not a crewmate. There has to be more exposition for Jinbe before he firmly has a reason to join. Robin and Franky had lots of time (over multiple arcs) before they went from enemy to crewmate. Jinbe wasn't active enough in the story when the SHs reunited, and the rest of the crew weren't in the active story when Luffy and Jinbe went to Marineford. Same situation for Hancock, actually.

Uh, there was plenty of new info established about him in this very arc, as has been the case for every member in their respective intro, and no one has yet suffered from lack of development. And how about Brook, eh? We never saw him as a kid, or exactly what he did regarding his "royal guard" job before joining the Rumbar Pirates.
And the trade off for Bonney's development being so open is that she can just as easily never set foot anywhere near Sunny. As Cymelion said, make all the theories you want AFTER she actually appears again from the 2-year break. Even us Jinbe supporters had to hold back until then.
You are missing a point here. The background story does not necessarily have to be about a kid. Brook's story was about his original crew and the whale. That tells us what his goal is in joining the straw hat. Yes Jinbe had a flashback to the days of Tiger, but his story does not show any sign of his desire for being a pirate again in the future as he decided to become a Shikibukai to protect his island. The crucial thing about everyone's history is that they have something to prove, something to gain at the end of the journey. Jinbei does not have that component.
It's more important for him to stay on the island and protect his fellow fishmen than to go adventure, especially after as we can foresee the devastation that will follow the huge battle on the fishman island. What he ultimately desires is for the humans and fishmen to coexist, the will of the late Queen. There is no indication that he will achieve that by being a member of Luffy's crew. His most important duty stays here on the island, tasks such as escorting Neptune and Mermaid Princess to the meeting of the Kings in the future. It's hard to envision someone as important, rational and responsible as Jinbe who has so much life experience forgoing his duty to go on some adventure. For these reasons, I am 200% sure Jinbe will not join the crew.
Now the whole Bonney hypothesis,which brought a lot of objections (which is good, because that's what discussions are for), the whole point was to predict who the next nakamate will be given such limited info. She will definitely appear after the timeskip because her story is not finished, as are the other supernovas. But because she was the only one captured, that gives her a special role among all of them. yes we can wait till she reappears before discussing again, but if I can predict this now, that just shows my prescience is correct. What does Brook have to prove? He could have made his way to Laboon right after Moriah was defeated. Being a pirate is not a necessity for the majority of the crew's goals.

It is most important for him to stay away from the affairs of Fishman Island if it is to flourish within the WG. Why do you think he wanted to meet Luffy outside of Fishman Island in the Sea Forest? If he is known to be involved with FI they will not be allowed in Reverie, how can one not see that? He declared war against the government.

The story is that he originally had a draft of Sabaody without the supernovas, but felt it lacked something. Then the idea of adding other rookies came up, and he liked the idea and drew the designs up on the spot. It was in some interview or something (with an assistant or editor, etc).
It could very well be that he drew up designs he had ideas for previously and decided it would be a good time to introduce them. But moving such a vastly important character's introduction around on such short notice seems unlikely to me.

jimbei is a HUGE leap away from our typical crew world encounters, upbringing, ect.
you ever wonder why so many were adament on margurette joining, because she fit our very isolated crwe member profile pretty good. she would be leaving everyone she knew and loved to go out on an adventure. this is not so with jimbei. he still has his fishman pirates crew somewhere in teh world and we know he is friends with whitebeard pirates. who knwos what else he has built up in his 10+ years as a pirate.

We heard about Rayleigh long before he was mentioned too, and he's spent 1.5 years with Luffy. No such crewmate bonds would form in such situations that the whole crew isn't around (as in, active in the storyline) to accept a new member. My main point was that Luffy doesn't see him as a crewmate, despite hanging around with him for quite some time; and that compared to Brook's supposedly altered introduction schedule, it would feel a lot more sudden.
dodging our arguments? sir fine but don't expect that people will continue to reply to yours. You are still founding the major part of your argument on the assumption that jimbei has traveled all routes to some extent that lead away from the red line. I'm sure Jimbei has traveled his fair share but i really doubt it that if he joins that he would know more about the new world than robin about the grand line.

Assuming he's not exaggerating, that's very impressive. Their intros are some of my favourite in the series(Drake, Urouge-san, Bege, Apoo), and the way zoro was diverted from his fight with the noble was pretty clever given the apparent quick rewrite he did.

No. Poorly made excuses for why a crew member knows what they know have never been an issue so why now? We know Jinbe liked to visit White Beards ship, doesn't mean he vacationed on his islands and made deep relationships. Besides we know for a fact he doesn't seem to like people very much anyway after his talk with Ace. You are worrying about a non issue all together. And what about Robin now? She obviously has a heck of allot of insite in the greater workings of the world, should she be kicked out?

You are still not giving sufficient reason for him to embark on an adventure. You realize that adventure means a whole new life, while leaving behind everything at home. All the characters so far have reasons that propel them to go to the end of the Grand Line. That was never Fish Tiger's aim, nor Jinbei's aim back in the days. Why would Jinbei suddenly have a reason now? It doesn't make sense. The age of a strawhat crew does not matter as we see from Brooke, it's about his goal, his ambition. Jinbei does not have that.
You realize Jinbei still stayed near fishman island even after he stopped being Shikibukai. He can still protect fishman island by staying near. If he doesn't wanna protect fishman island, why would he fight Hordy Jones? Sure he is wanted by the government, but that doesn't mean he has to completely sever his ties with his people. All he needs to do is to make sure the government does not find out, hence he stayed near fishman island for the last two years, but hidden.
You can imagine all you want, but there is no compelling reason for such an important, rational and responsible man who is renowned throughout Grand Line to embark on a new adventure. We can only predict something with what we already know, you can't say that suddenly something new will occur that will change his mind. That's why I said he is an established character, his plotline, goals, background,personality have all been saturated, there is no room for a new dream of suddenly becoming a pirate. We all know he inherited the will of the late Queen, which is embodied in that letter signed by one of the Celestial Dragons for the upcoming meeting of the Kings. Is an adventure more important than making sure that fishman island makes a representation there, a dream of coexisting peacefully with the humans fought by both Tiger and the Queen for decades? Just think about what kind of person Jinbei is and is his goal compatible with the Straw Hat's goal obtaining the One Piece?
Don't worry, youre not a One Piece fan material either, you just like to see the fites on youtube and probably started watching it two months ago and skipped 80% of the series, oh and btw there were people saying that with Brook and Franky and they are still here.

How much interaction did Robin have with the crew besides Luffy before joining? Meeting them once on the ship. Once. For a few minutes. Second time was right when she joined.
Franky? Pounding Usopp and fighting Luffy before softening up.
For that matter, how about Chopper? Because he didn't meet Zoro or Usopp before joining he should've been left behind?
And if you wanna be really technical, Brook joined after only meeting Luffy, Nami and Sanji. ;P
Jinbe was introduced at a time when he was one among many temporary allies, but he set himself apart by what he did both during the battle as well as afterwards on Amazon Lily. The important thing is that he connected with Luffy, the one who has final say over who joins and who doesn't and the one every member has had to connect to before joining. Since then, he's had quite a bit of time to become connected with over half the crew, and he's now fighting side by side with every one like he's already one of the gang. When all is said and done, he will have had just enough interaction as anyone else prior to joining, and that should be enough for everyone.

The Super Novas were made right on the spot since Oda's editor wanted a little more excitement in Shaboady. It was we as fans who speculated maybe these were vague characters he planned on using in the New World later on, only to be thrust in the lime line sooner than expected.
@ Blowfish - It really does seem like the Karate Dojo has been forgotten by Oda. But with so much time left in the arc I still think we are going to see a really cool connection between the dojo and Jinbe as far has his joining is concerned.
I'm still hoping that near the end of the fight, a group of karate fishmen appear to support the SH. That would be so awesome.

I am not talking about my theory regarding Bonney, that's just a hypothesis. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Bonney does not end up a straw hat pirate.
Assuming he's not exaggerating, that's very impressive. Their intros are some of my favourite in the series(Drake, Urouge-san, Bege, Apoo), and the way zoro was diverted from his fight with the noble was pretty clever given the apparent quick rewrite he did.

The story is that he originally had a draft of Sabaody without the supernovas, but felt it lacked something. Then the idea of adding other rookies came up, and he liked the idea and drew the designs up on the spot. It was in some interview or something (with an assistant or editor, etc).

WHat makes you think Jinbe was staying near FI for the whole 2 years? I find it much more plausible that after his initial banishment by the World Government he left it and only came back very recently so he could meet up with Luffy and possibly also because he learned Hordy was up to something (especially considering he had little idea of exactly what Hordy was up to until hatchan told him). He does care about FI, without a doubt, but I think staying at FI might be more dangerous most of the time, plus I get the feeling that SHirahoshi will use the sea kings to protect her people by the end of the arc. As for why he'll join, he clearly respects Luffy, he might feel indebted to Luffy, and also as a way to show his own people that they could coexist with people. I really don't get why everyone assumes that improving Fishmen Human relationships has to mean improving the human viewpoint exclusively. Jinbe is already a known pirate, so him continuing to be a pirate doesn't really hurt FI much on the human perspective, but on the other hand, as a respected leader of Fishmen, he could be a powerful example to his own people on coexistence

Whenever Luffy asks/agrees to someone joining, that character has had a pretty limited life experience like him that would be broadened. "Hey, let's go exploring the world together!" - sort of thing. To him, Jinbe looks pretty experienced already in the New World. (Whether or not he is, is another matter entirely.) And Robin spent lots of time running away from the WG; she wouldn't have the time to stop somewhere and explore the places she's been. If she were undercover with the Rev. Army, maybe, and I'm sure she learned plenty from Dragon, not only about the WG, but also a bit of the New World. Luffy can trust both Nami and Robin for some advice, if he's willing to stay put and listen.

the strawhats LIKE US are out exploring this grand exciting world together. everything is new and exciting.
while we have no way of knowing at present how jimbei is, he most likely has explored much of the world and it won't be such a new exciting adventure for him.
i'm under impression no one ever joins again. we have our final crew. been like that since the time sip ended. i mean we just had a huge moment where everyone in the crwe worked hard for 2 years all for luffy, and they went through that whole ordeal that kuma put them through and the shabondy incident. anyone new just won't have that i think monumental event that bonds the crwe together like non other.
jimbei saw luffy break down and consoled him to a small extent, but i could subsitutue like 5 other people into his position easily and be fine. i mean imagine rayleigh in jimbei's spot. imagine garp, hell if hancock wasn't so infatuated with luffy she could have done waht jimbei did. we could sub in so many even just friends or mentors into that spot. jimbei wasn't something special in that scene. he just happened to be the person there.

To summarize once again, Jinbe supporters, take a bit more time to decide before you jump to your conclusions. There's still plenty left of this arc that has to be seen, and it won't circle only around Jinbe.

Edit: Hinscher, I understand why you'd think the crew is complete, but they aren't. How the new members are going to come along will need some extra creativity and pretext promotion, but Oda's far beyond that bar.

- think of all the times in the series where people like brook or chopper or anyone later has been oblivious to things such as nami and fishman or other emotional events for someone in the crew. now that is always to be expected of a new person, since it seems they don't open their life stories to discuss for hell of it. BUT the shabondy event was not an emotional turmoil for any one person in the crew. IT was the FIRST AND ONLY HUGE EMOTIONAL TURMOIL FOR EVERYONE in the crew. they all experienced it, they all went through it and they all came out much stronger from it both mentally, physically and came out together stronger as a crew. and that i think is just something oda would not have held back from giving any of the crew taht experience. i feel that any member he was planning on, he planned on having them experience that
