Gyro: The 'golden rectangle'…! Johnny, 'you can do -'
whack
Pretty much the only way to have made that better would be to have Gyro trip on a root immediately after that.

Getting ever closer to being up to date with this series.
I'm about half way through Part 5 currently, liking the stands but not the story as much, at least not as much as previous parts.
Is this to be expected? I remember hearing that Stardust Crusaders tends to be the most popular, but I don't remember which parts fans don't tend to enjoy as much.
I loved part 5's stands
one of my top 10 fights of all time was in there, it was really just spur of the moment, you know no huge build up to the fight but just awesome strategy will power and brutality
Bucciarati (sticky fingers) & Mista (sex Pistols) vs Prosciutto (grateful dead) & Pesci (beach boy)
EDIT: Oh yeah can anyone tell me how the chapters are released, I'm finally up to date in steel ball run and wanted to know if they come out weekly or monthly or just randomly appear sometimes
It's monthly, JoJolion launches every month, it's 4 chapter so far, 3 translated and 1 to be translated yet.
Steel Ball Run in translation is near to the end.
So finally I started reading JJBA. I just finished part 1 & I was genuinely underwhelmed & disappointed.
So here's the million dollar question: Is all the other parts on the same quality level or is there a SIGNIFICANT improvement in the later parts?
Also; Is there a specific part considered a "fan favorite" or "the best" or does the series continue as it is with small ups & downs?
I'm asking because honestly if this is as good as it gets I'll just drop it & start reading Fist of the North Star.
My, my… the most inappropiate words to say in the most inappropiate thread.
EDIT:
Chinese scanlation of this month's chapter.

Wow man, seriously ? I can understand if you didn't like the over exaggerated reactions or the story being a bit linear but how can that compare to those ridiculously awesome fights ?Anyway, in part 3 there's a drastic change in the fights/powers, a badass hero, and the most awesome villain in the series. Part 4 has the best fights ever and another awesome villain that makes the story worth reading. If you don't like part 3 then it'd be better to start reading HnK since you should have done it many years ago.
First of all I wanna say to all JJBA fans that I don't mean to berate the series or any of it's fans, I just read some of it & didn't enjoy it, and I wanted to know from the series fans perspective if I should continue reading it or not. Hopefully no one takes it as an offense.

As a whole the series didn't "tick it" with me. I mean I didn't "feel" for the protagonist, the plot convenience was too much for my taste and the evil half brother idea was kinda old. As for the fights you can simply say that I'm not easily impressed, specially when the fights include zombies.
The whole thing gave me the vibe of an action B-movie/series I have seen before years ago and didn't really stuck on my memory.

Thanks for the advice. Then I guess I'll skip part 2 & jump for 3. Let's see how things will go from there.
& I wasn't even reading manga ''years" ago

Don't you dare!!!!!
@Bad:
Man… you really don't like me
Who cares if I like you or not. The thing is, if you skip part 2, you're going to miss what I consider is the best part of Jojo only after part 3.
@Bad:
Man… you really don't like me
He's right in this case, part 2's awesome, and has stuff you need to understand, it's like watching the last star wars movie before the other two, maybe not that dramatic but your a complete ass if you skip any part of this series… and no one likes an asshole, so not reading a part of jjba = being an asshole = no one will ever like you again, your girlfriend will dump you, your friends will abandon you, your family will disown you, your pets will run away... even goldfish
so don't be a dick and skip even one part of jjba, it's not worth it

Wait wait so you didn't even read part 2 ? I was sure you did. Do as Nekketsu said, seriously .
You must read it, the best JoJo is in part 2.
So far, I actually like part two much more than Part three.
Mostly because Joseph is a much more likable protagonist than Jotaro.

Quoted for truth
plus part 3 had the weakest stand fights, until they got to Egypt none were really that good
I only just started Part 2 and I honestly haven't been particularly impressed if only because Araki is trying to be "OMG PROFOUND!!" by introducing racism into his story and how African Americans were treated back in the 40's but he just isn't doing it well. I mean he has good intentions and all but the levels of ham fisting he's putting into it are on par with Mashima at his worst. Sorry to diss a series that a lot of people really like but from the 50 chapters of JoJo I've read I have not really been that impressed. Though I'm going to wait until I'm at least done with Part 2 before I make any real judgement of the JoJo series. And even then it'd probably be best to wait until Part 4 before I make real conclusions. Anyway.
I like Part 2, but I don't think the series came into its own until Part 3.
Parts 3 and 4 are still my favorites after all these years.
EDIT:
To elaborate, before Part 3 the series was still very similar in many ways to other action manga of the time (Otokojuku, Fist of the North Star, etc.) That's not a bad thing, but it wasn't until Part 3 that it became more distinct.

Considering that Araki only just came up with the stand concepts I think that would be a given.
Man, I really got to finish reading part 3.
Here's how I'd rank the parts
part 4 (Characters are built really well and my favorite antagonist ever and really good fights and abilities)
part 5 (Awesome fights good stratgey the end gets to out of hand though)
part 2 ( I really liked it, some awesome fights and a really good and zeppeli had some hart warming moments so sad :( )
part 6 (stand fights really staggered maybe it shouldn't be so low but seems like he lost his mojo)
part 3 (first half sucks, once they get to Egypt it gets better, the fight vs Dio is Amazing)
Part 1 (the worst… but mandatory to understand)
haven't finished steel ball run but it's awesome!!!! can't wait till they get the new chapters translated

I suppose you didn't reach the part when the pillar men appears and all becomes awesome.
How can anyone watch Stroheim and not automatically fall in love with Part 2.
Probably because Stroheim's kind of a stupid douche when he's first introduced…and a Nazi.
God damn it why did he have to be a Nazi.
I still like the guy but his...political affiliations make it really awkward.
Hey Hitler is a awesome character in manga The Legend Of Koizumi and there is nothing wrong with that for me.
Stroheim inspired Guile for God's sake.

You almost talked me into stopping the series all together… almost.

OK, I guess I'll give part 2 a try. hopefully it comes out better than the 1st.
part 3 (first half sucks, once they get to Egypt it gets better, the fight vs Dio is Amazing)
You mean to till me fuckin' Dio is coming back… You really want me to quit this series... Don't you?
Well; I guess it's settled, part 2 will make it or break it for me.
The thing is even if the series isn't bad, with the no. of manga I want to read & the little time I have, I get to be picky

I have a Jewish friend who feels similarly to you. It's not too difficult to understand the thought process honestly.

haha, you didn't think that just because he was a severed head on a ship that blew up in the middle of the ocean that he'd be DEAD, did you? Lord Dio isn't as weak as that.
@Kareem - Part 2 may take a bit to get going, but holy shit does it get insane. these words may not mean much to you know, but they should at least pique your interest - cross dressing, ACDC, nazi science, blood bubbles, engagement ring, chariot battle, outer space.
@Cyan:

You sure that wasn't Polnareff?
@Thousand:
You sure that wasn't Polnareff?
In my opinion
1.part 7(awesome so far)
2.part 3(slow but good fights)
3.part 4(slow at the beginning, kira made it awesome)
4.part 2(really good fights and world building)
5.part 5(good battles, weak end)
6.part 6(booooooooooooooring/awesome/boring/awesoooooooooooooooooooooooome)
7.part 1(weird and mostly boring)
people calling part 1 boring blow my mind, the build up of jonathan's past and dio as a villain was brilliant, their first fight was intense and amazing and speedwagon is awesome.
Part 1 was the start of all the story, so it's normal to be considered as slow and not too much cool, but it's not a bad part.
.
Part 2 is incredible, we have more world travels, awesome villains, excellent trainings, clever battles and nice abilities of both hamon users and pillar men.
.
And yeah, we have Stroheim and NAZI SCIENCE!!!!!!
@Bad:
You almost talked me into stopping the series all together… almost
Honestly I couldn't give a shit now, clearly a joke that you overreacted to, and you seem obnoxious from your posts I've read you don't deserve jjba, drop it like a bad habit if you want

That's one nice power he has.

Dude, chill, No need to go for personal insults, I was also joking. Sorry if I my reply to you pissed you off so much, I'll just ignore you from now on.
On Topic:
I started part 2, and indeed it's leaps better than part 1. Joseph is far more entertaining than Jonathan and the men in the column trio are way more interesting than Dio. & from what people said I guess there is a good chance part 3 will even be better. I'll keep reading JJBA for now, but I won't storm through it like I did with part 1, I'll just take it slow.
Kira has puppet powers! Still weaker then Killer Queen buut then we have just begun~~
@Kareem:

I-what? That was only one chapter… the first and only one of Part 2.
Part 2 is an amazing thrill ride, give it a chance.
I'll never understand why people love Speedwagon so much though... he doesn't do anything...
He has a wicked hat
Chapter 4 of Jojolion was great. Can't wait for more. Both revealed powers are pretty cool.
And what's with people saying parts 1 and 2 aren't good? Saying Dio isn't a good villain? I'm afraid I just can't respect those opinions.
Stand figured out, and the mc on the offensive? let's do this, my body is ready.
And the fact that its name is Soft & Wet just strikes me as hilarious. as if Jojo couldn't get any more fabulous.
Araki remembered he needed at least one Prince reference per part and designed a Stand accordingly.
So it looks like sailor isn't alternative Kira and possibly the ''real one'' is upstairs.
Only four chapters at the moment and Araki already made the plot thick.
Iam somehow right now struggeling with myself to begin readong Jojolion.
I wanted to wait for SBR to be finished and then have a load of new chapters already for part 8…but somehow i want more and more to read it...damn my impatience!!

Try to keep your impatience, SBR is getting better and better in these final chapters.
But it's no problem to start JoJolion if you can't wait anymore the translated chapters until the final.
