Oh my God! I need to stop talking to people about the story of this game! This series is so fucking convoluted! So many backstories and arcs with each and every one of these characters presented from MK1 to MK:A.

And now everything is retconned! Not to mention, the number of things dropped out of the story. And now, even with my dozens of theories of what I think they could do with the series, I have no fucking clue. I don't know where they are going, and I just feel like they're going to go crashing into a wall with the next one.

Again, not that I hate this game. This game is fantastic. But I'd hate to be the people who make the sequel…

Don't overthink it. They didn't introduce any plot threads that didn't exist back in M1-3, with the exception of Quan Chi. Noob Saibot's plans for world domination being a big one, for instance. He didn't even make the first move until Deadly Alliance. And then there's Ermac gaining his freedom and becoming Kenshi's mentor.

I thought it was the other way around. Ermac broke free and then wandered aimlessly until he met Kenshi and Kenshi became his mentor.

Apparently not. Ermac trained Kenshi in the art of telekenesis, and became something of a lone wolf hero type.

How they'll impliment this when Kenshi becomes DLC I have no idea. I suppose it'll pop up in his Arcade ending.

Speaking of Arcade endings, anyone else find Liu Kang's ending kind of funny?

! He demands that the Elder Gods grant him Raiden's status, and he easily defeats Raiden as the condition to be granted said God status.
! Basically, "Yeah….Raiden, you're more of a burden than a mentor, I think its time for you to fuck off."

Stryker's ending is also really hilarious.

I'm actually pretty happy with some of these endings. I love Stryker's of course. I wish there were more funny ones. Can't believe Cage's was so serious.

Anybody else think they are pretty good with a character, and then go online and see a YouTube video where someone else with that character performs a ridiculous 70% combo. Makes me feel like I will never be good at this game :getlost:

Sure, I get that all the time. I practice with a character and learn some combos and then I think "Ha! Now I can hold my own!"….and then I get online and get my ass promptly handed to me, lol. But it's important not to get discouraged; some people have more time to train than others, and some players just take longer to get the hang of things (like me). There's really no shortcut to getting better at the game, it just takes lots of practice.

And I am so close to being done with Story Mode (which would have gone a lot quicker if I could actually use the tv (correction: my tv) in my house for more than 30 minutes at a stretch. >_>) I think Kitana's going to be one of my mains, though. I'm just have too much fun throwing those fans and zooming ass-first through the air. ^^

That comic's awesome . Kitana's pretty good, she's really fast and I enjoy throwing the fans as well :ninja: . Not sure who I'll end up maining. I enjoy playing as Stryker, Ermac, Noob, Kung Lao, Liu Kang, Sub Zero, and Kano. Though there's probably some I've forgotten.

I'm at the last battle in the last chapter. ^^

! Shao Khan is kind of kicking my ass right now and I'm a bit at a loss as to what to do. Seems like every time I try to put some distance between myself and SK, he closes it with his shoulder charge. I tried to keep teleporting back and forth behind him to sneak hits in and he keeps catching me. When I try to escape the heat with Raiden's torpedo, he starts spamming arrows/hammers at me when I land.
! It's…a bit aggravating. :<

Teleporting is gonna be your best friend against Shao Khan, the quicker you can behind him the better.

I usually just try to land a hit on him and teleport as soon as he gets up because thats when he goes into another attack, from there I dash behind and uppercut him, then repeat the process.

Or if all else fails, you can switch the "Story Mode Difficulty" to the easiest. You get Quan Chi and the trophies/achievements regardless.

! Shao Kahn is easy with Raiden if you're not above spamming. X, X, O, torpedo until you get him in the corner then X, X, O, X, X, O, Square, Triangle, Square, Triangle, torpedo, then teleport and do it again.

I did the teleporting and then torpedo attack but shooting lightning might work too since most projectile attacks seem to work on him. The torpedo attack works the best if you do it right before he throws his javelin.

Whew, story mode is done. Thanks so much for your help, guys! I finally got my timing down and was able to beat him. Gah, Shao Khan, you cheap bastard. Not looking forward to fighting him again for the Challenge Tower. I think I can safely assume he's harder to defeat during the tower challenges than in story mode?

Speaking of which! Now that SM is completed, I can finally start working on that. Excellent! Let's see, I'm currently on Challenge #17 out….of.....300.

Do 50 at a time and it won't seem as long.

Also, you fight Shao Khan a LOT in the tower and you don't get to pick who you want to use there either except for the final fight.

My favorite thing to do with Shang Tsung is his skull attack that brings the opponent to you and then you can do a combo on them.

Shang isn't bad, he just seems to require more practice than other people. And if your opponent picks someone you know how to play with then the soul steal can be devastating with that power boost.

Sub…......despite being one of my favs for years I just can't play that well with him, no matter how much I try. I have a couple of go-to combos, one that leads into x-ray, but he just seems slow as hell.

Scorp is good but again, people refuse to learn how to play with him.

Styker is very good but, you know, he sucks.

And this I just saw a few days ago-Babalities on Goro,Kintaro and Shao Kahn(from Game Faqs)

In order to use your Babality on Goro or Kintaro, you must be playing on Medium difficulty or higher and use you Babality on Shang Tsung, you must also have not lost a round, after you beat Goro or Kintaro you will automaticly use your Babality on them if you met the requirements. In order to use it on Shao Kahn, you must have used a Babality on everybody, including Goro or Kintaro.[/hide]

I thought Raiden was EXTREMELY easy to use. There's a combo (can remember exactly) but it's something like jump traingle triangle square triangle electric grab move uppercut. Does a TON of damage. Just keep a distance until he throws something and then teleport and start combo. I can't remember the exact buttons but it took only two seconds to figure it out..

I tried it out this morning and that's not the case, seemingly nothing was different in the match so I'm wondering if there are certain match options that need to be filled or what not.

The first 3 MK games are going to be rereleased for the 360/PS3/PC this summer for $10, and will support online play. That's pretty sweet–especially for those of us who haven't played the original games before. ^^

Shang's is pretty tough. It was for me, anyway.
Stryker is tough if you don't realize how much of a boss killer Stryker really is. :wub: :wub: :wub: Especially with Shao Kahn.
Sub-Zero and Scorpion's is challenging, but the fun factor overshadows the challenge.

To sum up:
-Ed and co. are aware of the lag issues, and are doing everything they can to patch it up. They confess that the PSN being down was never an issue as they would have released a patch to the 360 users while the PSN users were waiting (of course, PSN users would have it once the PSN was back).
-Skarlet should be expected within the next month.
-All characters will eventually recieve additional alternate costumes, apparently based off of their concept art (I used to have access to the concept art images, but that's gone now :sad:)
-I think it's obvious to say that a lot of Klassic costumes are on the way, since I'd assume they'd be selling the MK Klassic costumes you could have gotten before the game's release. Not to mention, the newly found Cyrax and Sektor costumes found by hackers.

Also, I'd take it with a grain of salt: Ed Boon is hyping E3 quite a bit. A lot of people are thinking he's going to mention either the sequel or a spin-off. I think his excitement is based far more off of the OTHER games coming out, but who knows.

Also, someone on Twitter asked about the possibility of an Ultimate Mortal Kombat. Ed said that he's not currently planning on it, but he did enjoy Super Street Fighter IV.

Too early to tell about the very distant future, but I think a lot of content are coming our way.

Also, deconfirmed DLC characters (from comments of Ed Boon on Twitter):

! Mavado, Li Mei, Kira, Havik (holy shit….), Fujin (double holy shit), and most importantly, no characters from Mortal Kombat: Special Force (aside from Jax or Sonya, but characters like Tremor or No Face are not having a sleep over.

! Skarlet (dur)
Kenshi (double dur)
Rain (Ed hasn't said anything denying him so far as DLC. In fact, someone cursed him out on Twitter for not including Rain, and he immediately said "ever heard of DLC?" Definitely happening.
Tanya (Ed hasn't said anything negative, and said one or two positive things that could mean she's in.
Sareena (Nothing negative or positive, but if anyone got in, Sareena's got a sure shot. Namely since Ed adores Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, and Sareena is probably the most popular character from a spin-off game in this series.)

How bad was the lag for you? I had some moments, but it was somewhat calm. Some of my combos came out weird, though.

Thanks. And you're fine. None of Scorpion's tactics annoy me, honestly. Even his teleport (and his X-Ray) is pretty tame to me. A character that DOES bother me is Noob, but even then, I'll never get upset with any of you for playing any character (and that includes Stryker). I can handle anything in this game, especially in contrast to Sentinels in MvC3 and Shoyuken in SSF4.

LOL, I can deal with Stryker getting horribly killed. Being out Strykered is painful. XD It's bad enough I feel like I failed Stryker whenever I lose as him, but the fact that I failed him AND someone did better with him than me? Bury me.
