@IamGod:
Is it just me or do DS games look washed out on the 3DS? Pokemon black definitely doesn't look as vibrant in the color department.
I haven't played any of my normal DS games yet, but I did download a Dragon Ball Origins 2 demo and an Okamiden demo and they looked really good. In the demos, the screen is automatically adjusted for you so that the top screen has proper resolution for the DS games. Are you holding start and select when booting up the games so that the top screen adjusts resolution?
I have a few thoughts on the Nintendo 3DS that I would like to share:
I am pretty impressed with this gaming system so far. The graphics look great and the 3D is just amazing. It is really easy to find the 3D sweet spot too. I have experienced slight eye strain, but nothing permanent and no headaches. A short break is all you need to clear it up. I haven't had a problem with the short battery life yet because I have only played it at home and have easy access to the charging cradle. Even if I was on a long car ride, I believe they sell or are going to sell cigarette outlet chargers and a lot of cars these days have AC outlets in them. The only way I can see the short battery life being a problem is if you were on a cross country flight and I don't plan on flying any time soon.
The built in software is really cool and are really good examples of the potential of this system. Face Raiders is a really fun little game where you get to shoot these "helecoptor heads" that attack you with your face or others on them. As someone suggested, I used Hitler's face and that brought the fun level up a few notches. The AR games are also really cool. I played an archery game where you get to shoot targets and fight a dragon that comes to life on your desk and I played a billiards/mini golf game that creates progressively harder 3D environments. It is hard for me to explain how cool these things are. You just have to play them and see for yourself.
The only problem I have right now is that none of the launch games are really that impressive to me. I purchased Nintendogs and SSF4. They are both great and make great use of the 3D, but they have yet to keep my interest like a good story game would. I am interested in a lot of games that have been announced for the future though, so I am not worried. Zelda OoT, Starfox, Kid Icarus and several others should be out this year.
I also think that the web browser and eShop should have been available at launch. This isn't really that big of a deal though. I guess I am just impatient.
The price was pretty steep, but I took advantage of a great deal GameStop was offering. I traded in my DSXLi for $100 of the purchase price. In my experience, that is a pretty generous trade in deal.
I think the 3DS has huge potential. I can only hope that game developers are making use of that potential. I am expecting to see some really cool games come out in the next year.
I have to say that even though the NGP/PSP2 is suppose to be more powerful, I think the 3DS is going to hold it's own against it.
