Don't Japanese only see Americans as blonde, blue eyed people with cowboy hats and American shorts anyway? Don't see how black people enters to the equation of how they view Americans.
-
I'll make it simple. It's like this:
We live in the US. We see black stereotypes and struggles and issues every day, they are apart of our very cultural fabric.
They live in Japan. They see rappers and Denzel Washington and Obama. They haven't seen the civil rights movement, they haven't seen gang warfare, they haven't seen kids having kids or drug issues or any of the things nobody would know a whit about unless they were American. Step outside of yourself for a minute, man. When have you ever seen someone in Japan make a fried chicken or watermelon joke? - bet you you haven't. Their understanding of us doesn't run that deep. It's the same in most African countries. You can't get mad at THEM for that.
If I see black sterotypes in the US, then of course I'll get mad. But I bet Japanese people don't get mad at us for not understanding who the Ainu are, or what an Osakan accent is. You're mad at Killer Bee, but Killer Bee isn't something Americans made. You don't understand that.
and really, like I said: Killer Bee is not that bad. If every Cloud ninja was a "stereotypical" rapper, maybe it would be offensive. But he's not even that. He speaks in rhyme and has cornrows - that's it. He doesn't disrespect women or skip out on child support. I don't think Japan has the context to even make him do that.
Check out my last post and read it this time before you get all angry and leap to conclusions.
The stereotype comes from somewhere. Japan didn't make it up themselves. The very fact that this how black people are viewed by other cultures is what irks me. If it doesn't you're going to right it of as them being from another culture then that's fine. I'm already fully aware of everything you speak. I'd really wish people would stop talking to me as though I'm stupid. So instead of me accepting their ignorant views of my culture. I'm not going to step outside of myself in the least. I'm going to call bull when I see bull. There's a problem when this is how we're viewed/portrayed but no one seems to care. I guess everybody to busy drinking kool-aid and eating fried chicken and smoking weed to pay attention to anything. Cheers buddy you can except those stereotypes all you want too. I won't and don't even try and get me to do it in the least.

I don't read Naruto but…how is a rapping ninja a negative stereotype? Some times the rap life style has negative connotation (so does the rock n roll lifestyle) but that does not make the practice of any type of music inherently negative.
-
looool so im ignorant?? why for thinking stereotypes are funny or true??
-
so can anyone recommend an anime to me.

Gurren Lagann. That is all.
Assuming you haven't already watched it, in which case do that right now. Right Now.

TTGL has gay stereotypes. Not cool.

Seen it didn't finish it.

Say what you will about Leeron's stereotypicalness. He makes me laugh and he's not too offensive, I would say. He's also extremely smart, probably the smartest character in the series and if it weren't for the advances he makes on the mechs, Simon, Kamina and the others wouldn't make it far.
Besides you're overlooking the awesome fights, excellent character development, beautiful animation, better than you'd expect story, and a tone and feel fairly similar to One Piece. It feels to me like an homage to Shonen and Mecha Anime. Not to mention the show had balls, I would explain why but in involves spoilers. I'll just say that a major shakeup is done to the main cast not even a third of the way into the series. All this and more is why Gurren Lagann is highly recommended to anyone who likes anime.
I'm all for accepting homosexuals, but I don't think Leeron's camp gay qualities are enough to ruin the entire series. At least when almost everything in the show is totally awesome.
The only real problem for a lot of people is Rossiu. I didn't like Rossiu, I'll admit, but I didn't think he was that bad, not Sasuke or Shinji bad anyway.
Also, epic soundtrack and catchy as hell opening.
Watch it. -

Er…I was being sarcastic... was that not obvious? I love TTGL

I love reading through these digressions.

Wow, sorry about that. In all honesty, I didn't realize you were sarcastic it is the internet afterall.
Sorry I might have looked like a fanboy of TTGL there. I'm not a fanboy of anything, I just know good anime when I see it. At least I provided a recommendation for the thread. (Although I'm sure TTGL has been mentioned already).

Hey guys, this is kind of off topic but I didn't know where else to ask this. Does anyone know if there is a Code Lyoko thread? I've been recently rewatching that show and I find it to be rather enjoyable but I haven't found a thread on it which saddens me a bit. I've been thinking of starting my own thread, but I only recently began to rewatch the series.
One thing I found cool about the show was that it was from France, when pretty much every other animated show in existence is American or Japanese. People also call the show animesque along with Avatar: The Last Airbender and Teen Titans. I honestly don't see too many anime influences in the show, as opposed to the other shows (although I like those other shows as well).
Anyway I recommend that show to anyone who wants to watch something different from American or Japanese. In all honesty it has been a while since I watched it thoroughly but I can at least tell that it beats the hell out of at least 90% of the crappy American cartoons that come out these days (and a fair bit of recent anime too).

Given the past few pages of conversation, this is a bit too ironic.
Getting back on topic though:
I need more manga to read. Lay it on me, AP.
What have you read?

Ok if we're back on topic I'll recommend donten prism solar car. I don't much about the writer but the artist is yusuke murata the guy that drew Eyeshield 21. It's 7 chapters in and it's monthly give it a try

lol.
Anyway I wanted to just post that top part but apparently I need at least 16 characters. So what about Code Lyoko, does anyone like that show? It looks like there's no thread for it and I intend to rectify that. I searched for posts of it and found divisive opinions on it. I found out that Malintex Terek liked it, but some other people found the "return to the past" thing a turnoff. Maybe the reason I liked it was because it's nostalgic for me since I watched it fairly young. I can at least safely say it's better than many other western cartoons. I found it interesting and cool and I remember liking the characters. I'll stop talking now if no one cares.
