Oh, is that all? I suppose being bullied for being weird isn't anything new. Oh well. It's cool then.
Just give up dude. Continuing to argue isn't worth it.

@RobbyBevard:
I haven't watched it since Skypiea aside from an episode here or there that I'm curious about how they handle something (like Bink's Sake, or the introduction of the Supernovas.)
And Skypeia was when the pacing was only offputting, as opposed to insanely bad.
What would be a better way to fix it I wonder. For me, personally, the pacing doesn't tend to bother me much but anything that can satisfy overall is a plus.

Like I said. It's cool. I wasn't arguing, I just wanted to know where the hostility was coming from.

The writers and editors could be non-morons and use the material Oda spoonfeeds them begging to be filler that they just ignore.
Its been said quite a few times in this thread already with multitudes of examples.
I understand the Bleach guys having trouble with filler, nothing happens in the manga and the panels are empty and tend to be one on fights for a year at a time.
The Naruto folks tend to have the right idea of what their filler should be, they just have lousy execution.
I dunno how the OP guys drop the soap so readily.

Ah yes. I've pin-pointed quite a few of those actually. Well okay then. When you think about it, it's quite the shame.
At least we aren't getting 200+ episodes of filler sagas though. My stomach couldn't handle that.
Binks Sake was handled beautifully, can't stop listening to it. Sky Island didn't have these long pauses of nothingness, but it did seem to take forever to get through.
If you stopped right after Sky Island, then you have missed some great stuff. Water 7 was one of the best animated arcs in the series. I admit that at some points, faces and noses would look a little off, (Luffy vs Usopp, and Nami).
But it was very well done.
Then Enies Lobby happened. Took forever. I really enjoyed certain moments in the arc, but when they kept breaking up fights by showing what the other strawhats were doing, it became slow. The blueno fight was great to watch, but then it took up so many episodes.
Some chunks of the Blueno fight put together quite nicely.
For me, Saboady and Water Seven were the best animated arcs. Maybe that's just me but I never get tired of seeing this.
SA was good until the end. It was very sad, but they kept doing a bunch of padding with reaction shots. And faces starting looking really odd. Just before Robin disappeared her face looked quite odd while reaching for Luffy to save her.

I know what you're referring to. That did kinda make me wonder a bit when I saw it too.
I feel as if the anime was going strong from episode 1 all the way to somewhere during the Rockman arc. I would say the episode where Sanji fights the noodle guy. At that point something changed that really stalled out the pacing. It didn't pick up again till the excellent paced Sabody. But the war arc is in a leage of it's own bad pacing wise.

Rockman arc?
Did you mean to say Rocketman?
Then I guess you're referring to the Water Seven Arc. I agree.

Yep Rocketman. Even with all the fillers at least things were going on during the fillers. Even the crappy memories wipe filler. But It just seems like the creators of the anime had a meeting during the Rocketman arc and suddenly the pacing just struuuuuung out.

That would explain why we got that awful and unnecessary retelling of the character's backstories in the Enies Lobby Arc.

I would still rather they insert fillers between arcs even outright recap and review episodes. But Water Seven and Ennies lobby was so long that they probly had no choice but to put the recaps where they did.
Anyone notice how the anime likes tossing cooking stuff into One Piece?
It started at LogueTown with the cooking contest, then episode 133 with Sanji teaching the marine to cook, the G8 arc has another cooking competition, and finally the Water 7 arc had the story of Sanji eating at an old man's restaurant. I don't recall or know if these were in the manga, I know most weren't.
I really enjoy cooking, but I find it funny out of all the odd filler they can put in (more Buggy? HAHAHAHAHAH) they chose Sanji doing something with food.
I think the anime pacing is just fine. I can honestly say I've enjoyed the episodes from the beginning of the series to now. People need to let go of their expectation of the anime being as good as manga; it'll never happen. For anime, I'd say the pacing in One Piece is just fine comparatively to other series. An easy way to work around the fillers, is just to skip it

The cook doing things that involve cooking? Next thing you know Usopp will be in filler that involves sniping, or Brook in filler that involves playing Binks Sake for the 87oth time.

Compared to Trigun or Azumanga Diaoh or Full Metal Alchemist or Slayers or Nodame Cantible or Spice & Wolf or any other series with the decency to have a stopping point if the manga isn't far enough ahead? Or writers who can do competent filler where the characters stay in character and the premise and mood of the time killing episode isn't completely stupid?
Or compared to DBZ, Naruto and Bleach, which are also paced horribly?
An easy way to work around the fillers, is just to skip it
Easy enough when its standalone arcs. A bit harder when its half of every episode.

I am more of a manga person, I always read the manga first before the episode so my expectations are not as high as those who rely on the anime only.
Also the anime will never be as good as manga simply because oda hardwork and passion is put into the manga. The layout is better, the art is better and you can feel oda's passion of telling the one piece story through reading that of which was created by his own hands. The anime was not created by oda's hands, the art will never be the same despite the similarities and the environment of watching the anime will always be different. Also you cannot guarantee 100% everything you watch in the anime is canon which is why manga is still the gold standard. For instance, half of whitebeard's face was melted off; this was not seen in the anime.
The fillers in one piece are not that bad IMO, some of which I actually enjoy especially the one with the condorriano joke. FMA has two different version of the story; one that is in the anime and one that is in the manga. I pray something like that never happens in one piece. Stopping an anime short handed even when the manga is not far ahead is a horible idea
now play nice, bobby, they don't know what debath is
@dirt:

! One of these
Actually, FMA went off and did a second anime series that follows the manga more closely, after the manga got close to ending.

Shame the pacing of the first 10 - 20 episodes is just awful. It had no need to have gone so quickly. Otherwise it would have been near enough perfect.
Second FMA anime was as bad as the first. At least the first anime did the canon parts decently. Second anime just blazed through the manga omitting any and all small details and Easter eggs that made the manga special.
Yes, Sanji is a cook, but has Oda ever put such an emphasis on it?
Did Oda slap the title, "Best Chef in East Blue" or the "Prince of the Consomme"?
Yes, Sanji is a cook, but has Oda ever put such an emphasis on it?
The entire arc where Sanji joined? The way that he's always the one out shopping for food when they make a stop anywhere? Or when he stayed on okama island for 2 years to get a recipe?
His dream to find the place where seafood ingredients from the entire world can be found in one place?
He wasn't on Okama island for 2 years just for a recipe.
He never intended to be there in the first place.
Yes there was the Baratie arc, but once out of East Blue, you rarely hear much on the All Blue, except for in the Anime. Of course Sanji is the one that goes shopping for food, but the manga never did multiple chapters on Sanji shopping.

And he could have left at any time after Ivonokov arrived and he had access to a boat. He decided to stay because Ivanokov said he'd give him a super recipe if he defeated his 99 agents, which apparently took most of two years.
@SingingThroughTheStorm:

Its that whole "pacing" thing thats the crux of the problems with the anime.
Though standalone bonus stories, however stupid or redundant, are way preferable to padding out the canon stories with slow pacing and endless reaction shots.

Sanji doesn't need to keep mentioning the importance his dream has to him.
The very fact he's still sailing with Luffy shows it.
We see him cooking every now and then, why does Oda have to signpost things like the anime does.
I'm not even going to go into how bad the curry episode is either.
The curry episode made such little sense, it was annoying.
It was quite confusing that there was such bad fog, that the Going Merry just sailed by, without getting noticed. Especially since the ship was there for a couple of hours. If the Navy is known for Curry, wouldn't Akainu be making the most amazing curry?
Didn't Sanji say he wanted to help Luffy achieve his goal while being separated from the crew? Sort of like Zoro asking Mihawk to train him?
I thought the whole crew during the separation (in the Manga) gave some reason that went along the lines of helping Luffy become the Pirate King.
Luffy's got a kingly appetite. He'll need the best cook around for that.
Whether you like or dislike the anime, you have to agree that the music adds tons.

No, not really. Most of the music is pretty forgettable, aside from being played 879 times.
Even Binks Sake got annoying after it apparently turned out to be the only song in Brook's repertoire.

I think we should have a thread on what music would you add to which scene. There are people with wider knowledge of music than me though someone else would have to make that.
Movie 7's soundtrack is godlike
Much of the Ratchet songs from Movie 7 really really added to enies lobby and other scenes like Kuma asking for Luffy's head or Luffy's approach to charlos (and subsequent punching). The music only adds to the anime experience when truly used right for the right scene.
Otherwise it's normally just background music.
I would personally love to hear some music from the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. As for specific pieces of music…I don't have that much knowledge on well-known pieces used in OP except for Dvorak. Though, quite a while back I tried utilizing the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra's music in the finale to Luffy vs. Enel (it got taken down from YT so I put it on Dailymotion) and it turned out surprisingly well. I've been wanting to try some of it out with Marineford, but I've stopped downloading OP and just been sticking to the simulcast.

Fantastic! Utterly fantastic!
Doesn't quite work all the time mind but I definitely get your idea.

Thanks, I'm aware it's rough around the edges, but this was my very first attempt at editing music into a video (plus all I have to work with is WMM). Still, I'm glad you liked it.
The biggest problem was that the music was overstated on nothing happening quite often and understated when things did happen.
Otherwise, nice work. Especially with working around the voices.

Yeah, I guess I was just using it to help keep building up the tension. Again, it was made years ago and I'm glad it aged well. Still, I wish this kind of music could be officially utilized in One Piece rather than recycling the same OST, no matter how awesome a lot of it is.
I heard they recycle the OST a lot because the composer for "One Piece" is expensive.
Seriously guys I mean they have to reuse the soundtrack. What'd u expect from a tv show adapted from a manga with over 600 chapters.
The person who did the original One Piece OST also did the Final Fantasy games, so I can imagine he cost quite a bit.
I really enjoy the old music while watching the older episodes, but the music doesn't seem to match the current anime style. The songs that still match the current style in my opinion would be, "Overtaken, Gold and Oden, Mother Sea, A mothers Love," and all of the character themes.

He arranged a couple of them but didn't write any of them.
Completely different.
Anyway, the music has been done by a couple of people now anyway.

Ah great song, great theme, great show. But One Piece's soundtrack is just as good. Im sure that if cowboy bebop was 600 episodes long, then they'd use this just as much as OP uses overtaken.

Actually, a lot of the old OST seems to agree quite nicely with new stuff. All of those you listed, To the Grand Line, Mezase One Piece, and at least a few others seem to fit fine.
If anything, their use has gotten better over the years. After rewatching the East Blue saga, I'd say that certain tracks receive a lot more justice nowadays than they did then. The Kuro arc makes this painfully obvious.

At first I was going to ask you where you made the One Piece/Final Fantasy correlation but after doing some research I see that secondary composer, Shiroh Hamaguchi, was indeed involved in Final Fantasy VII-XI. Of course given how I tend to associate Kohei Tanaka with One Piece and Nobuo Uemetsu (mostly) with FF I wonder what this person's contributions to the soundtrack are? (Of course this would all be far more appropriate for the One Piece Music Thread but since this came up here…)

Arrangements mostly. Thats not really all that much to do with the actual music.
He most likely just edited bits here and there, making sure it would all work and sorted out the instrumentation. Unlikely he wrote much for the games at all. Still possible but he's not credited as a composer at all so I wouldn't have though too much.
Ah great song, great theme, great show. But One Piece's soundtrack is just as good.
I'm going to assume this post is why you've been banned.
Aside from being tori22 anyway.
