1. Skypiea
2. Marine Ford
3. Impel Down
4. Enies Lobby
5. Thriller Bark
Top 5 Favorite Arcs?
-
-
My favors are:
1. Marine Ford - A wonderful war with dramatic scenes and so much hope in there characteres.
2. Impel Down - I love the darkest deep area. With all the evil persons.
3. Enies Lobby - But I love the manga version, I think the anime-version is to long with the last fight.
4. Arlong Arc - Very dramatic arc and what would be the beginning from One Piece without this arc, I think. ^^
5. Syrup Village Arc - Super bad enemy and Kuro is so… "punch him!" ;D
I think all Arcs I great but in the most time Its is to long in the anime. I totally forgot the Sabaody Archipel Arc thats also a great Arc. ^^

1. This is really difficult. Baratie and Arlong were great.
I think Don made a very realistic villain. He didn't care if what he did was considered dirty, or unfair, he fought like it was a real fight. When he told Gin to throw the mask away, it really showed what type of person he was. I still want to see Gin in the New World.2. Little Garden, I have a hard time choosing which arc I like most. I enjoyed most of them so much. But Zoro cutting his own legs, and the great story about the giants dual was great.
3. Drum, this one really made me contemplate to continue watching OP. The people transforming, and the whole Ruldolph knock was odd/annoying. But while rewatching it, I really enjoyed. Hiriluk is one of my favorite civilian characters.
4. Sabody Archipelago, The animation at times was very breathtaking. It had many hiccups in animation during the Kuma fight, but they made up for it with spectacular shading of the Sun and bubbles.
-
1. Enies Lobby
2. Skypiea
3. Alabasta
4. Thriller Bark
5. Marineford -
Enies lobby really is a popular arc huh? I thought it was actually pretty boring. How do I put it…. it was a little too dragon ball z-ish for my taste. I also thought the viking funeral scene was really, really stupid. Anyway, on topic:
#5. The Buggy arc. A classic. Was fun to get to know all the characters who were obviously new to me at this point. Buggy's devil fruit made for an interesting battle.
#4. Fishman Island. I love it already.
#3 Marineford. A big ol' reunion of old and new characters alike, awesome.
#2. Drum Island. Contains a lot of humor, sadness and hapiness too, a very emotional arc. Chopper was still cute as hell at this point. Hiluluk was awesome. And Wapol is hilarious.
#1. Thriller Bark. It's full of humor. It has Perona who contrary to popular belief is a great, funny character. It has some great battles, one of wich where all the Strawhats work together defeating a single, strong opponent, wich is very rare in the series. And lastly it has Moria, who is simply one of the best characters in all of fiction!
Oh wait... this is the anime section... Ah well, it can do no harm to leave this here i supose.

Mine are:

4: Alabasta
5: Sabaody -
1. Water 7
2.Shambody Archipelogo
3.Marine Ford
4. Arlong Park
5. Thriller Bark -
How is Marineford getting on so many people's list?
-
^^ because they are manga fans and are making their lists accordingly. Marineford was absolutely epic in the manga - the anime has been hit and miss.
Personally, I am more surprised by the people putting Impel Down. I have nothing against it - it just seems like a build up arc.
-
Yes the anime didn't have it very good, but I don't think the manga made it a top 5 arc. I prefer the adventure, and the war was a combat driven arc. I wouldn't want a war to not be combat driven, but fight scenes aren't why I watch/Read OP.
-
Sabaody Archipelago
Thriller Bark
Jaya
Impel Down
Arlong Park -
Water Seven
Sabaody Archipalago
Marineford
Enies Lobby
Davy Back Fight -
Enies Lobby
Marineford warAnd thats about it.

The final fight had almost no supernatural stuff. Luffy vs Crocodile was awesome. The ending episode playing "Memories" was great. I mainly liked the instrumental part.
Luffy saving Smoker, and Smoker's ideals on true justice. -
Water 7/CP9
Sabaody Archipelago
Thriller Bark
Syrup Village
Arlong Park -
CP9 (not water 7 except duel with Usopp)

-
why are poeple having a hard time naming 5 one piece arcs they've liked all of the sudden?
Too many! It's more fun with a bit of careful picking.
-
I watched the beginning ones and I'm now at Mr. Croc. I loved Arlong's one especially and to think he's nothing compared to Mr. Croc. Not to mention Black Beard and the other amazing characters out there.
-
Sabody
Water 7
Ennis Lobby
Marineford
Thriller Bark -
ok … I'll try to answer that .. it's somehow kinda hard to pick 5 arcs only. XD
1. Impel Down / Marineford
2. Alabasta
3. Water 7 / Ennies Lobby
4. Davy Back Fight XD
5. Baratie :D -
This post is deleted!
-
The Goat island arc wasn't that bad though for a filler arc.
Quite enjoyable. -
Enies Lobby Arc - The whole scene where the strawhats stand on the battlements and declare war on the World Government, while CP9 observe from above. That scene was just so beautiful. What a work of art. I even had that image as my desktop! Human vocabulary is just too limited to comprehend how beautiful that scene was.
Marineford Arc - Everyone just comes back prior to Impel Down. And now they are all fighting in a war. What could be more awesome? (More of the older characters to return.) X]
Thriller Bark Arcc - I love the whole Gothic horror scene. After watching this arc, Gecko Moria became my favourite character.
Captain Kuro Arc - Captain Axe Hand Morgan sucked. Buggy was mediocre. Captain Kuro was the main man! The whole plot of the arc and major battle on the slope was what really got me hooked onto One Piece. I thought Kuro was an excellent villain.
Arabasta Arc - It was between this or the Impel Down Arc. However, although Impel Down was great, it had too much running and talking. I like Arabasta because Crocodile was a pretty cool villain with a brilliant plan involved. He was great at manipulating an exciting war and nearly got his way. I thought the final battle with him and Luffy was pretty intense. Never cared much for the other strawhat members and their battles besides Sanji and Mr.2 Bon Kurei. Plus we see more of an insight to Smoker. -
Pokemon guy, do you read the manga?
Where is Arlong and Baratie? -
1. Marineford Arc: for obvious reasons
2. Ennies Lobby: Epicly Epic
3. Arabasta: Strawhat first big move as an up and coming rookie pirate
4. Arlong Park Arc: Me happy luffy bust up Arlong teeth
5. Skypia: the anime version was a pretty good and Plus I loved the suprised look of Enel when lightning had no effect on rubber -
Pokemon guy, do you read the manga?
Where is Arlong and Baratie?Well since this is the anime section, I'm relating my judgement based upon the anime. I sadly have not read the manga. And I'm not denying that Arlong or Baratie were good arcs. I simply prefer the arcs I listed more than the arcs you added.
-
1. Enies Lobby & W7 : EVERYTHING I Love about One Piece was absolutely here. I doubt any arc will ever top it.
2. Impel Down : Bon-chan made the arc. I'm glad this site did him some justice in the past character tournament.
3. Arabasta : amazing ending(the "X" farewell) and great villain(Croc)
4. Skypiea : it has the manliest flashback ever.
5. Marioneford : the tension, Whitebeard's awesomeness, and the death of ace
-
1. Water 7 & Enies Lobby - Things really went in an unexpected direction, and it rocked me!
2. Arlong Park - This early favorite really showcased the burning fury of Luffy, made Nami one of my favorites, and simply ruled in general.
3. Thriller Bark - Just completely entertaining and unique, the whole thing felt like a huge movie. And every character had time to shine. Plus added bonus for the epic unexpected bit at the end (with Zoro).
4. Saboady Archipelago - Really cool, and introduced tons of memorable characters.
5. Kuro arc - Memorable villains, especially Jango, and a fine time for our heroes.
-
1.) Water Seven/Enies Lobby- Introduced a lot of great characters and had a ton of epic battles and great conflicts as well as reviled some of the great secrets of One Piece.
2.) Marineford- More awesome fights and battles as well as more secrets and some unexpected deaths.
3.) Alabasta- A lot of funny and incredibly strong foes were introduced plus it had a great storyline.
4.) Sabaody Archipelago- Introduced us to the Eleven Supernovas and the Celestial Dragons, plus through us all for a loop at the end of the arc.
5.) Luffy's Flashback- Showed us how Luffy and Ace first met and how they became brothers as well as showing us that there weren't just two brothers at the beginning. -
1. Water 7 - The whole thing was just so brilliant. Very emotional with the Luffy/Usopp fight and the decay of the Going Merry, suspenseful with the CP9 agents and the Iceburg incident and Robin disappearing, and this all under the impending doom of the Aqua Laguna. Besides being so brilliantly put together, that arc showed sides of all Straw Hats we didn't see before.
2. Baratie Arc - To me, Baratie was what I think Arlong Arc was to many OP fans. It's what got me really addicted to One Piece, I'd stay up till 2 AM to watch episodes consecutively. It had that silliness and humour which made me like it at the beginning, but it also was the part where the series got a lot more interesting, with Zoro vs Mihawk, the promise of the Grand Line and Sanji's story which I really liked. I also loved the cooks at Baratie.
3. Loguetown Arc - Same effect as Baratie, the story got more interesting, I loved the whole "connect the past with the present" thing. Bit by bit we got to know more about the legend of Gold Roger (which has been done throughout the series and is one of my favourite motives in it), and at the same time it foreshadowed Luffy's greatness. Also similar to Water 7, with the storm and the threatening atmosphere, and then finally the beginning of the legend, entering the Grand Line. Everything that happened at Loguetown made me so excited to find out more about the past and know what would happen to the Straw Hats.
4. Marineford Arc - Although I really missed the Strawhatness and humour etc, the whole thing was just too epic. After watching the separation of the crew in the anime, I stopped watching and switched to manga only, which turned out to be a very good decision. I sat on the edge of my chair the entire time, flipping (clicking) pages like crazy and gasping for breath everytime something happened. It showed that despite the first half of the adventure and the Grand Line being over, there was still so much more to come, that Oda really has shown us only half of what he can do yet, and that the New World will be so much more than just a continuation of the Grand Line.
5. Arabasta Arc - Pretty self-evident. Amazing story, the way it was set out was great aswell, the pacing was perfect. I loved the individual fights of Straw Hats against Baroque Works members the most. Pell should have died.I hope this doesn't seem like too crappy a top 5 :)
-
Skypiea
Water7 (I love Enies Lobby also - but when I say W7 I mean W7 specifically.)
Drum
Baratie
Sabaody ArchipelagoI have been meaning to go into more detail about my choices. So, here goes.
Skypiea - To me this arc represents what makes One Piece so incredible. This is a great adventure. The setting is beautiful and is strait out of Oda's imagination (with blatant Heaven imagery and references - regardless). In my opinion a lot of what makes great arc's are the villains and the setting. Skypiea is tops in terms of setting and I will always loved Enel as a crazy villain - his priests weren't the best henchmen but they were still plenty enjoyable. The Norland flashback is one of the greatest One Piece moments ever. For me Arabasta always feels a tad long winded so whenever I read threw One Piece in it's entirety volumes 24, when the SHs leave Arabasta and start making their way to Jaya (and effectively Skypiea) it always feels like such a breath of fresh air. It's a wonderful adventure - and that is what One Piece is all about.
Water 7 - I think Oda's story telling abilities shine brightest in this arc. I regret not following the series weekly at the time because I could only imagine what a roller coaster of possibilities were going on in the minds of the One Piece faithful. Usopp leaving the SH's? Is Robin (who was always an enigma) friend or foe? Can Iceberg be trusted? What of Gallery La? Who the hell is CP9? Are the Franky Family really that much of a threat? Is Merry really done for? There is so much suspense and uncertainty in the arc it's really juicy and interesting. Personally I don't mind if W7 and Enies Lobby need to be bunched together. I am not one of the detractors of Enies Lobby. Despite the general notion I quite like Lucci as a villain and thought his fight with Luffy was epic. Kaku is still my favorite henchmen (if he can be called that) in the OP verse and his fight with Zoro is a long time favorite. Sanji fight with Jabara (?) was decent, nothing more. Monster Chopper was cool. Franky's fight with the round baby is one of the most underrated OP fights ever. It cracks me up every time. Nami's fight was garbage as usual - Kalifa should have been able to stomp Nami with no problem (it was OK if you are in the mood for some fanservise). Both Robin and Franky's flashback were very emotional and well made (especially Robin's.) Merry's funeral was heartbreaking. I don't love some things. I always felt the Sea train ride went on way to long and I always hate Sanji's fight with that fucking annoying noodle guy. All in all, one of Oda's best.
Drum - As I said earlier an arc, for me, is often as strong as it's setting and villain. While Wapol is not exactly the most inspired villain in the One Piece canon the island known as Drum is one of Oda's most beautiful settings. Luffy carrying Nami and Sanji up a 90 degree mountainside in sub zero temperature as his fingers were bleeding to save their lives was inspired. I am not going to make any bones about it - a lot of the reason that this arc places so high on my favorites list can be attributed to one man. Dr. Hiruluk. He is undeniably one of Oda's finest creations and his last moments of life where he declares Chopper his son and thanks the heavens for what a wonderful life he has had as he tries to stop the man that is destroying the country that he holds so dear is one that always brings a tear to my eye. Chopper becoming a strawhat was great and Dr. Kureha's emotional send off for her little adopted stray was beautiful. As cherry blossoms fell on a reborn kingdom she shed a single tear.
Baratie - As the poster above me stated so nicely - the Baratie arc was for me what the Arlong Park was for most fan's of the series. I love the setting of the Baratie. A floating restaurant. Zeff has always been hela cool and the fighting chef's are just awesome characters in general. Krieg, for me, was the first truly dangerous villian. Luffy had never had much hardship defeating past villains but Kreig was more formidable. Also Krieg had an air of, how should I put this, seniority? experience? When Krieg and his men called him the greatest pirate in the East Blue and the strongest in the world I believed them (when I first heard the claims made - well before I had any real grasp of how vast One Piece was.) I think Sanji's flashback is one of the more underrated ones in the series - as people tend to say that Nami's was the first great flashback (and indeed hers was better). Still Sanji's past and his history with Zeff was shocking and far-far better than previous flashbacks (Zoro's, Usopp's were very weak. If you count chapter 1 as Luffy's flashback then it challenges Sanji's I suppose.) I have always loves Luffy's battle with Krieg and his willingness to get hurt to utterly defeat him. Gin and Pearl are the first henchmen of the series I actually really like. More than any of that - the reason that the Baratie arc scores so high on my list is that it is the first time that the One Piece world really starts to seem like a big fucking place and that feeling I am talking about is almost entirely attributed to the entrance of Hawk Eye Mihawk. Zoro, up to this point in the story, was a formidable and talented guy and Mihawk made him look like a child. The guy sliced a fleet of ships in half for fun. He is such an exciting addition to the arc every time I read it. This is not something Toriyama would never do. Goku would never be fighting Frieza in an epic clash of giants only for Majin Buu to peak in and show them just how insignificant and weak they really were in the grand scheme of the universe. But that is exactly what Oda did, and I love him for it.
Marinford - I put SA in my top 5 and not Marineford? Screw that. I love Marinford because it is the accumulation of the entire first half(ish) of the series clashing on the most epic battle field imaginable. Whitebeard will forever be one of the most awesome characters in the series. When you take the warlonds, the admirals and the whitebeard pirates and you throw them all together you get a wonderful clusterfuck of beautiful violence. I think it is a testament to Oda's ability that when we, the reader, hear something as simple as a rank, like Admiral, we go 'oh shit!, this is going to be awesome!' It would have been so easy for Oda to make the Walords seem weak and inconsequential at this point in the series (as the SHs have already defeated two) but that is not the case at all. Ace'es death and it's effect on Luffy will have implecations for the rest of the series. I love that way back in Arabasta Ace gave Luffy a piece of paper and Oda - over hundreds of chapters managed to snowball that into one of the most important events in the canon. I can't be sure, but I am pretty sure the events that have happened at Marineford will be of huge significance in the New World.
Honorable Mention.
Sabaody Archipelago - Love the setting. The Supernova's are awesome. Kizaru and the Kuma bots wrecking the place was a lot of fun. Kuma breaking up the SHs was very emotional and important. Rayleigh - nuff said.
Arlong Park - Arlong was the first truly despicable villian. He mangled Bellemere's arm and then shot her in the face in front of her two young daughters. I am on my third read threw the series - this last time I read it was the first time I truly understood why so many people love this arc so much. Luffy fighting so hard for Nami was beautiful. Nami asking for help was unforgettable. Nami's flashback still stands among the best.
Fishman Island - The current arc is stacking up to be a monster. In a way it reminds me of Water 7 a bit. I am dying to see what happens next.
^^ the above were based more on the manga rather then the anime - because that is what is freshest in my mind. ^^
-
1. G-8 arc
2. Sabaody arc
3. Thriller bark
4. Loguetown arc
5. Alabasta arc
Im to lazy to type the reasons i picked these arcs. -
In no particular order.
1. Marineford: I really loved how Oda brought in characters and plots since the start of the series, plus it was just one hell of a amazing and emotional arc.
2. Water Seven: Oda really cleared my doubts I was having coming out of Skypeia and Davy Back. Probably one of the most "what's gonna happen next?" stories One Piece has had.
3. Captain Morgan: Looking back I love this arc for it's simplicity and humor.
4. Post Enesis Lobby: Dragon is Luffy's father? Garp is his grandpa? Shanks was part of Roger's crew? Enough said.
5. Arlong Arc: Pretty much what everyone else has said. After the disappointing Baraite arc (Oda was trying to do too much with too little of a plot imo) he really brings it back with force in this arc.
-
Is Thriller Bark arc dubbed by funimation yet. What episode does that start on? Sorry I have all the voyages of One Piece but a only at episode 18 I believe where it showed Zoro's past and his friend the girl dying…
-
I do not believe that it is dubbed yet. I can't be sure as I am not caught up yet (with buying the DVDs) but I think Funi is still on Skypiea. Thriller Bark starts on episoded 337-ish I believe.
-
Yeah, it would take them for another err….... 4 years, I guess.
-

They just now got to G8. It sucks but it's going to take a while.
-
FUNi just finished 192. With TB being at 337, it'll be a while. There are 52 weeks in a year, and 145 episodes to make it to Thriller Bark. The quickest it could get there, at an average of one episode per week, would be 2 years, 41 weeks (or 2 years, 10 months, 1 week, -6 days), so the quickest would be about 34 months. I'd say probably 3 and a half to 4 and a half years, depending how quickly FUNi works.
-
Just realized that I wasn't the only one who said Davy Back Fight. That's incredible!
-
1. Marineford - I mean, what a climax Marineford had!! And a fuck-fest of admirals and shishibukai, fighting against the greatest pirate of the New World??!
2. Thriller bark - A talking skeleton joins the crew AND zoro begs Kuma to take his life instead of the other Mugiwaras with tears streaming down his face.
3. Enies Lobby - LUFFY!!! I WANT TO LIVE!! A great arc going in depth of the character that I love in One Piece: Nico Robin
4. Baratie - The pirate who starves himself to save a young boy, and just how fucking EPIC it was to see just how far the strawhats were from their goal to go to the top (Illustrated by the fight between zoro and the greatest swordsman in the New World (Hawkeye)
5. Impel Down - Luffy actually goes beyond HELL and down into the empty void of the universe to save his brother from death. EPIC
Also, I'd just like to add that I was tempted to add the post-arabasta arc in my top5, just because those episodes were the first episodes to take us away from that horrible incident that they call the "arabasta arc"

What the fuck is wrong with you?
Artwork was terrible and the story dragged along at too slow a pace. Only reason I didn't get one of my friends to recap the whole arc and just skip ahead to skypea is because they said the boss fight would be epic - which it was, no doubt, just not enough to make up for the rest of the arc being crap.
-
Post arabasta was filler, are you insane? Hahhahahha

Are you fucking serious, son?
-
This changes quite frequently for me. I don't think I can even begin to do this, but… this will apply for both the manga and anime except for Marineford, which I thought was untouchable in the manga and lackluster in the anime.
1. Skypeia.
! I had to really wrestle with my thoughts, but this would easily be my favorite when I think it all over. "ORE TACHI WA FAMILY!" with the wolves dancing just reaffirmed how nutty and heartwarming One Piece can be. Let's start all the way back, including Jaya (I'm going to start at when they arrive at Mock Town). Doc Q offering them the exploding apples really freaked me out, and it shows that luck really is quite a factor for Luffy. A scary thought is that it all could have ended right there if Luffy had simply grabbed a different apple. From that very moment I was interested in Doc Q, who I would later learn was part of an even more interesting (and honestly, indecipherable at this moment for me) crew. Let's see… Blackbeard and Luffy's exchange at the bar with the pies was also quite interesting; a good, simple foreshadowing technique of their opposing ideals. Introduction of higher ups of the World Government was epiiiic, loved that whole thing. Luffy and Zoro taking the bar brawl, yet not fighting back was poignant. I can still imagine exactly how the looked today. And then, of course, the satisfying punch that came afterward with Luffy saying "The sky!" and pointing upwards after everyone said there was no way they could go there. Going Merry flying... self-explanatory... Entrance to Sky Island was magical... Loved Oda's wacky version of Pegasus... Loved Sanji's "This is a trial of love" to the annoying fat dude with Haki... I think I loved every single fight in this arc, and when Enel appeared everything turned up 5 notches. I love that guy. Even if he just appears you know the scene is going to be epic. From the point of Enel with the 5 survivors in front of him, everything turned even more thrilling. The only thing that I will admit did bother me is how the Impact Dials never actually killed anybody (but I would later find out that this was all to make the death of Ace and Whitebeard back to back more monumental). Loved Enel reviving himself with his lightning powers making his heart beat... And then our epic hero finally arrives after the crew is tossed into a desperate situation that seemed insurmountable, speeding towards Enel with godspeed. From then on, if you can believe it, everything goes beyond the word "epic"... Luffy challenging God himself, beating the shit out of him after the stone-faced Enel makes his classic eyes-popping-out face, and then their whole fight. Luffy turning off his brain, Luffy punching the walls which would unconsciously ricochet his fists right into a reeling Enel, and Sanji's "Thanks... You gave me a light." Luffy riding up the Giant Jack with Nami revving it up while Skypiea was in an apocalyptic state was also very creative as usual. FINALLY, Luffy ringing the gold bell and having his shadow appear down to Jaya below. The scary thing is that with One Piece I could mention so much more than this. Anyway, this will always be my top favorite arc, purely because "They're-in-the-f^^king-sky!", the classic pirate-adventure theme, and just general epicness. And Luffy and Enel's faceoff is imprinted so deeply into my mind. I've forgotten countless movie scenes, but this one always stays in there.
2. Marineford.
! I really wish I could have read this weekly, but I only started that almost exactly at the point Ace died. In fact, if anyone cares, the point that I said, "Man, I'm picking this up" is when it's chapter freaking 570-something, and everyone in the manga is still saying "That's impossible… There's no way he could have two Devil Fruits!!" At that point I was convinced that every series had to go to crap, but the fact that the characters were still paying so much attention to the rules really intrigued me. I also just liked how efficient it was compared to other manga I had seen in panel-space, etc. South Park's "everything goes stale after 100 episodes" theory proved wrong, basically. I'll edit this later, my brain is kind of fizzled out from Skypeia. Anyway, I think I've reread the end of this arc close to 20-30 times, and Ace's chapter around 50.
3. All of Water 7 (including specific parts of Enies Lobby, Robin's "I want to live!", Luffy vs Lucci, Robin's backstory, just the fact that they're in such an awe-inspiring area, and Going Merry's death). As a side-note, ehhh, this is pretty much tied with Sabaody Archipelago. Very hard to decide between them.
! Anyway, just gonna address W7 starting from Aokiji's fight. In 2 episodes (I watched the anime before I read the manga), a guy is introduced. In 2 episodes, I had felt fear like never before in One Piece. I had never even SEEN this guy prior to this, yet he froze Robin with apparent intent to kill, and froze Luffy. I literally stopped breathing during this fight. As an aside, he's also a rather complex character. I wonder if we'll ever see the city of food the villagers there mentioned. But yeah, from the moment Aokiji mentioned how Nico Robin hollowed crews out from the inside, I was HOOKED on this arc. Just gonna go over small things before I go to Water 7. The crew's interactions on the Merry (dartboard eyebrow, Luffy making fun of himself in a more-than-slightly disturbing way by showing how he got frozen with flour, Robin acting very shady from this point on, Usopp wondering if they'll see more strong guys like this [yes you will, sir]). The arrival at the most ingeniously designed area of One Piece yet (Fishman Island is certainly getting up there, though), resembling Rome with the waterways. They had some fun, but very early drama like none other was introduced into this arc. That's how I would describe this whole arc, "drama". And the water really fit with how I was tearing up on most of the episodes, which Oda most likely intended. Usopp vs Luffy was heartbreaking, and it was neat to see a hint of "I don't want to do this, but I've been taking care of this ship, and you're not throwing it away" in Usopp's face while facing off against Luffy. Also, the underlying motive of the fight being Usopp was insecure about his strength. Loved all the callbacks ("I have 8000 warriors!) and Usopp's inventive fighting style, never before had I seen him fight so fierce. I miss his "practical" fighting by the way, but I must admit I do enjoy the plants. Robin and this whole new "CP9" organization in masks enthralled me from the very beginning. Now that I look back at it, I love Luffy's obvious Haki when he repels the Aqua Laguna. Speaking of Aqua Laguna, I love the whole drama that adds to the arc, and that our little crew told Usopp about it in their amusing way. Where I can specifically remember each episode/chapter bringing tears every time was when Usopp was at Franky's place, and Franky told him about Klaubertarmann and threw him under the ship so he could see the damage for himself. OH GOD. I was depressed for a while after seeing that whole series of events. After all the drama, after all the welling up tears… we finally start to see a spark of hope near the end of Water 7 when Nami learns from Iceburg that Robin's intentions were not ill, she in fact wanted to protect them. This is continued by Luffy breaking the buildings, and then them deciding to ride the Sea Train in the effing Aqua Laguna to Water 7 with their former enemies who CAUSED a lot of this drama, the Franky Family. The Sea Train I liked all of, except some parts of Wanze (but you have to admit, it was neat seeing him say things like "Nico Robin is a demon!", "You'll never rescue her!" and Sanji proceeding to knock him through the door. Also, Wanze might have been the inspiration for Duval with the whole face-rearranging.)
4. Arlong Park.
! Yeah, this couldn't go without being at least mentioned. It started for me at the Kuro arc, but this arc cemented the fact that One Piece was going to be something special for me. Even back then I remember thinking, "Damn, this is cool!" Little did I know about what lied ahead… The fact that it was dealing with such intense issues that can really show up is what got me hooked. This is just an entire arc type of thing, the whole thing was flawless and succinct.
5. Alabasta.
! Honestly, this should be higher since I consider it better than Arlong Park, but Arlong Park is when I officially started to REALLY like One Piece, so that's why it's above it. Let's just consider them tied. Anyway, yeah, like some have mentioned, I loved that fact that there were little cities inside Alabasta (which is being recreated through "districts" in Fishman Island). I lovedlovedloved the Crocodile Casino. I loved the shaky ideals with Smoker. Loved Mr. Prince. Loved the fact (well, not loved, but was on the edge of my seat; I don't like seeing our innocent hero being hurt) that Luffy pretty much died two times. Loved how Sanji used his surroundings to cook (the rock, nature's frying pan). Loved the Kungfu Dugongs. Loved the Erotic Camel and crab. Loved Crocodile's insidiousness (drying out a city already on the verge of starvation? Damn.) Loved the whole all-out war in the city. Loved the whole "time" theme when Baroque Works was marching toward their meeting. Luffy's final fight with Crocodile is self-explanatory… and then the ending of the arc was flawless, like the arc itself. Oda using the seemingly unimportant X's at the beginning of the arc to divert Bon Clay as a symbol of friendship while the Strawhats can't face Vivi? Incredible.

1. Water 7 and Enies Lobby
Thanks to this Arcs I became a real OP Fan. Began to buy the Mangas etc. Oda did everything right with the Story and Toei made a great job. Pacing and Animation were als nice (the last Arcs with Episodes there the animation had the typical Oda Style, after and at the end the animators ran wild).2. Arlong
Relly nice Arc. Story, Emotions, Fights, everything had a good balance.
3. Alabasta
I was a Vivi Fan in the past and was captivated of this Arc..hmm could watch it again.4. Davy Back Fight
Yeah I know Foxy is annoying but this Arc is nice if you have some free time and want to laugh a bit.5. Drumm, Loguetown, Baratie…
Most of the older episodes are on one level for me.Everything till the end of Enies Lobby was watchable. After that the animation style became worse, the pacing was slow and there were annoying filler. Arcs lke Sabaody or Marineford are awesome but only in the Manga. The Anime steals alot of the atmosphere.
