Babalities and Friendships were jabs at the people bitching about the game's violent content, though. But yeah, they wouldn't really fit in the series now…
Mortal Kombat 9
-
-
That is true, but still, they could had been a bit neater.
-
I liked the Friendships. They were so absurd they were funny. Especially Cyrax doing the Charleston…
-
LMFAO! He sho' did do that shit! XD
-
The writters for this award show is terrible. And any competion COD black op's is in is gonna win sadly.
-

That, and another one I always enjoyed was Kung Lao pulling a rabbit out of his hat…only because it became a Fatality in Shaolin Monks:

-
…That was awesomely retarded...
-
The only one that I remember was Rain making flowers grow.
-
…That was awesomely retarded...
Y'know, I really wish they made another MK game in the Power Stone/Grand-Battle style of Shaolin Monks, Shaolin Monks is really fun and probably would've kept the franchise out of the doldrums it was trudging through before the collapse of Midway.
-
Do you like… "Super Pener?"
Sub-Zero & Kitana > Stryker
Fuck the police.
Who doesn't like Super Pener?
And yes, Kitana is a shit load better than Stryker. I never said Stryker was my favorite. I just like him a lot and WOULD want him in this game.
Also, fuck the Knicks.
Actually, wasn't Sheeva the one that transformed into a scorpion? Strangely enough, Scorpion himself was not in MK3.
I NEVER FUCKING UNDERSTOOD WHY THEY DID THAT!?! Seriously!
Just keep fatalities and brutalities.
Babalities were fucking stupid and so were Animalities.
Yes, but I wouldn't mind Friendships coming back.
Babality was stupid. And I DID think Animality was cool in the thought of "holy shit, I wonder what 'so-and-so' animality is". But when you see shit like Noob turning into a god damn skunk…it's just stupid.
-
I'm going to bug Sarus by playing as Stryker every time I play him :ninja: . If they do keep animalities, though, they should have animals that fit the character. I didn't notice they didn't when I last played.
-
I NEVER FUCKING UNDERSTOOD WHY THEY DID THAT!?! Seriously!
Looking at what happened to Liu Kang I'm guessing they thought they could take out a fan-favorite character and no one would notice or complain then again the Mortal Kombat games or notorious for doing this Sub-Zero is one of the only original characters introduced in the first three games to not be removed in follow-up games.
-

Ironically enough, I believe they started putting the 'M' rating on games because of Mortal Kombat.

What in the–! That was hilarious and my brain died a little.
I remember Kung Lao's old Friendship. In the MK3 game, he threw his razor hat like a frisbee and a dog runs after it off camera, and then he shakes his head sadly... Its horrible and twisted, and yet amusing I guess.

Which becme Hilarious In Hindsight when you take into account that none of the earlier Mortal Kombat games sans except maybe 2 were as or close to being violent as other games.
like Eternal Champions CD for example

That was a highly amusing vid!

All aboard the bloody hype train!

Wonder how much the special editions are going to cost. What were Scorpion and Reptile's original fatalities anyway?

Sweet!
And news on any pre-order bonuses.
Next year will be a good year for video games.
Is it just me, or are all the best games released Q1 and Q2?
-

The same setting you on fire, sending you to hell, eating you or melting with acid stiuff.
-

Retailer-exclusive Fatalities.
The old "content that was going to be in the game anyway, but we decided to take it out" trick that's usually reserved for DLC.
Won't be buying this until it's in the bargain bin after that news(and that's assuming it's actually any good).
-
You had to have seen that coming. I agree that it's stupid but I'm not going to not buy it because of that. I'm getting Sub-Zero, though.
-
It's fucking Mortal Kombat… in 2D... with combos... bloodier than 1, 2, and 3... combined.
It's pretty damn obvious they aren't going to fuck this up.
-
I don't need extra fatalities. I'm good.
And I wouldn't get my hopes up too soon. I'd judge the game when it's on my lap.
My faith in the MK series has been dead for over a decade.
-
It's pretty damn obvious they aren't going to fuck this up.
Same thing people thought when Acclaim was making a Super Nintendo port
and when they announced any of the games after 2. -
How fucking long ago was that?
Besides, the last decent game they made was Trilogy.
-
I'm hating this pre-order BS. I want all. Can'tz I haz all the Klassic outfits?
-Sigh- Guess is time to pre-order it on Amazon.
-
-
The last happy MK memory I have is DULLARD.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat =/. Has it been that long since a decent MK game? Actually, for me its been more like… 14 years. Trilogy came out in 1996, so yeah, that was the last decent game for me. MK4 was ok for a while though.
-
Mortal Kombat 4 sucked golden balls… and I hated that Golden Graham bitch. Fuck her. She better not appear in this fucking game.
-
Mortal Kombat 4 sucked golden balls.
Yes!
Seriously, the only good thing that came after Mortal Kombat Trilogy was Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero from the PS1 (N64 version sucked) and Ermac's new costume design.
That's about it. Every new character that came with it sucked.
Mortal Kombat 4 sucked golden balls… and I hated that Golden Graham bitch. Fuck her. She better not appear in this fucking game.
Who, Tanya? Yeah, she needs to die.
She should be on a stage, tied to a torture device, and constantly killed for our amusement. Fucking bitch.
-
Oh that Tanya…
MxmdsgEKNh8…oh man I forgot how retarded the fatalities were in this game...
-
What a disgusting, filthy, diseased cunt.
-
Golden Graham bitch…
I'm calling her that from now on.
-
There's nothing wrong with MK4. I don't know what game you all were playing, but I enjoyed it.
-

I have every right to say you've never played Mortal Kombat 1, 2, nor 3.
-
To be fair, I played it because my dad had picked it up when he bought my Playstation. So, I gave it a shot, and very soon realized how bad it was. Most of the characters were pretty forgettable too.
-
Pics of tournament and Kollector Ed.

You're wrong. I don't know how much money I've spent on MK1 or 2 in arcades, and I had MK3 and UMK3 on SNES. Just because it isn't as good as the earlier games doesn't make it terrible.

If it isn't as good as the "so-called" prequels, then there's obviously something wrong with it.

The button layout on that stick makes my hands hurt just looking at it…
-
I'm going to play Marvel vs Capcom 3 with that stick.
The game will be challenging then.
-
If it isn't as good as the "so-called" prequels, then there's obviously something wrong with it.
What kind of terrible reasoning is that? It's not as good as the best games in the series, therefore it must be terrible and sucks balls.
-
Essentially.
You don't make sequels to awesome games, just so it can suck.
It doesn't work like that brah.
-
I want to know how much the Tourney edition is going to cost already. I'm guess around $100. But having that stick might be cool.

Anything less valuable than gold is worthless then right? If it's not as good as something that good, then anything less is absolutely terrible. That's your train of thought right now. Then you continue with "it's bad because it sucks"
You want to actually give me reasons why MK4 sucks? Because not being as good as the best MK games ever made is not enough. Was it the game-play? What was wrong with it? It was fast paced and responsive. Was it the fatalities? Each character had two personal ones and two level ones. Was it the characters? Tanya and Kai were dumb, but MK4 also introduced Quan Chi and Shinnok. Not to mention how stupid it is to call an entire game bad because you hate a couple characters. Stryker is a retarded character but I still love UMK3. We also got more back-story in pre-existing characters like with the Sub-Zero / Scorpion feud. So please, tell me, is the game not having human actors and being able to shuffle sideways really that much of a game breaker?
Was it different? Yeah. Was it as good as the originals? No, but what is? Was it a terrible game because it didn't reach that high of a level? Absolutely not. Hell, Shaolin Monks was a blast and that was completely different.
-
I'm not going to waste my time to explain to you why Mortal Kombat Trilogy shouldn't be called the "last decent MK game."
-
It's fucking Mortal Kombat… in 2D... with combos... bloodier than 1, 2, and 3... combined.

You seem to be oblivious to the game industry as of late. There's quite a large chance that this is going to be a mediocre title. I also can't see it selling too great with Marvel vs. Capcom 3 coming out at around the same time.
I'm not gonna go as far as to say this game is Dead on Arrival… but it certainly isn't too far from it.
