Why level 50? Something particular you want at that level?
Do you have any of the boa heirlooms that give you increased XP? If not, it still goes super quick these days. Just make sure you don't waste time on green/grey quests and keep moving, and queue for random dungeons, they are a lot of experience. Also, mining and herbing gives XP now. I've seen people get that far in a couple of weeks, but they're crazy, more likely a couple of months at a casual pace.

I got to 40-ish in a week - that's abt a mnth back.
LFD is boss expecially now that quest-givers are inside instances. However, Blizzard is going to retune exp gain from instances so that questing would be better option in the long run.
A trick I used while lvling hybrids like druids, pallies etc, is to lvl tank till 40. Tanks get insta-queues for LFD = profit! At 40, I take dual spec and take dps for solo lvling.
I got to 40 in a week just though questing. Would have been faster since I also got a lvl 24, 16, 14, 8, and 7 in that week. Not a single instance for all of them.
Just started western plaque lands.
Also I found the funniest quest chain I seen in a while. I east plaque you vist a cen circle argent cusade quest hub. First got to get rid of some plagued veggies in the druids farmlands. One is the noncombat pumpkin pet. Another is a zombie with corncob shoulders, finally a skeleton with an apple for a head.
Then you get to help a druid in training. He not good a feral. When he shapeships he keeps getting turned around, or turning into aquatic form on dry land. In boomkin form he moonfire spams himself "It burns like the moon!" Finally after being sent to another hub, you go back the the quest give has you help him become a healer, because heals can't miss.

Well, I take it back, leveling with the dungeon finder now is extremely fast. My BF started playing a paladin about 3 days ago, and in just 1 day and 6 hours game time he is level 45.
Took me 2 days, 10 hours to hit 50 on a Mage, so not so bad. Of course, I did have the 20% boost from the BoA gear.
On another note, the new Thousand Needles is fun. Scuba suit AND your own Steamboat? I used to hate going to that zone before… now it's a giant waterpark.
You I didn't notice to I got ready to switch to mail. It's nice how well the gear goes together.
Lets see. Head from the hietherlands, boots from WPL and the rest being from EPL, and it all looks pretty darn good together.)

The Outland questing gear, however, is still the most atrocious thing to look at. I really don't know what they were thinking when they made that stuff.
I was noticing the armor looking really good earlier today. I take it the aesthetics have taken changes, or that these are all new items.
I'm level 36 right now, retribution paladin (although I find out that I much prefer warlock, or hunter, due to enjoying the pet mechanics. I like friendship ((slavery?!)) because it feels more enjoyable when soloing) and wrapping up Desolace. It's been a pretty good place so far, although this one Naga quest being bugged so it doesn't count kills was frustrating. I moved past it though, but it might be fixed.
This is my first character so I'm kind of taking it slow and digesting everything, like all the new changes since the shattering, so I'm probably shitloads slower than everyone else. Maybe my attention span isn't as good too. Hearing people hit 40 in 24 hours blows me away. I've been working on this character for weeks, albeit in short periods.
Just finished BRD on my Mage. Place still blows… they haven't changed the dungeon at all and it's still a 3 hour instance. Don't bother going in if you get this one... you'd get way more XP questing in the time it takes to clear the place.
I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

Ah yes finally the day before has come…. I remember the greatest wow fan I've seen in a while was at the Wrath midnight launch. I see the guy with a backpack walking out of the store while walking hes unwrapping the game. As he finishes he reaches his car and out of his backpack he pulls out an already on laptop which he then proceeds to start installing the game as he drives away... Such dedication or addiction take your pick :)

The one thing I'm not in real life is disrespectful or rude. However, I do tend to stay in the store for a good while (strictly looking, things were rather simple when I just had a PS2, but I got plenty more than that now) and occasionally ask an employee what they think of a game(s) I come across, and most times ultimately leaving without buying something. They're not annoyed by that, are they? Nothing bothers me more than knowing I annoyed someone. If there's some hidden rule that I should be in and out of the store in 5-10 minutes, then it's something I wanna follow.

God damn it - Only got my Priest to 5 bubbles off 83 and I had to leave for work :( so it should be roughly 32 hours of no sleep by the time I get home which means probably insta sleep.

So far I seen realms first for shaman, hunter, lock, dk, and I want to say priest. And that was just while I was playing. My guild only seems to have one 81 so far though. Me I'm not even halfway there. Frankly it was to crowded for me to level.
So after about XX hours of installation, I now have Cata up and running on my comp and the first thing I did was create my Worgen. I have been so ridiculously excited for this race and so far I'm not disappointed. The Worgen starter area is just unreal. Talk about mayhem–I think I've died about 4 times in the first hour; holy shit @ the first 5 levels and fending off waves and waves of Worgen. Awesome music and atmosphere for this area as well. Easily the most entertaining starter area I've experienced as of yet (and I am so in love with my Worgen right now, it's obscene. I'm even tempted to make another one).
Still need to check out the rest of the new content, but it'll have to wait until I'm done with Gilneas (which will probably be sometime tomorrow). Fortunately, the crowds don't seem too bad in this area right now, and quest items/enemies seem to respawn quickly.

WoW has an system so that the quicker they die the fast the spawn rate. There was a couple of times in hyjah that I was stuck killing one mob because it kept respawning before I could loot the bodies. 8

Yeah, we were joking about how we used to always have "last drop syndrome" where we would spend forever trying to get the last quest item but now it seems like we can't escape from the last mob.
I'm getting close to 83, there's someone in the guild who might be 85 when I log on but I'm just not that much in a rush.

I just dinged 84 and have to admit I feel kinda sick, If I only think about deepholm or hyal it makes me vomit in my mouth. The new zones are awesome and only 1 level and Im gonna be Heroic leaping around!!! But still, I played way to much today.

I just went there for the first time last night after dinging 83 and nabbing the VERY epic Holy Radiance Spell for Paladins (AoE healing on mah pallies?!) and, let me tell you, I went there with a tank with goddamn 70-80k HP… and we almost wiped 3 times, we're guildies thou so i am SURE if we was a full PUG we would've wiped.
That place is pretty brutal at regular... I cannot WAIT to heal/dps/tank it at 85~!
Also... two trinket drops last nite for yours truly >:V
And if you guys didn't know... Archeology nets you 20k+ xp per discovery at level 80++.

I've always done things in order. Even to this day i still do all of the zones in Outlands and Northrend, in the correct order, before moving on.

I don't mind doing it in theory but actually doing it is so hard - but I started Vortex Pinacle as 82 - slight mana issues as Disc - hit 83 mid instance and suddenly OOM nearly every pull because I was power healing dumb pugs not CC'ing or trying to tank on their own.
Pell survived because he is a Falcon - Stop using him as a bad example.

Hit 85 on my Rogue yesterday. Gonna do some regulars so I can get geared for Heroics, then do a few to earn justice points to get BoA gear. My Mage will be a lot easier to get to 85; most of the vash'jir and Hyjal hubs should be clear now and my Mage has BoA gear. 30% exp increase on 9 million xp really helps.

2 items later (15 mins in) I was Heroics ready~

LFG is the worst experience ever. I wait 37 min for a que so that we can wipe on the first trash pull in stonecore and have everyone leave. Or get this. The other day i'm in Lost City (heroic) and we're on the croc boss and it's some guild from another server. I'm top DPS. The only one who knows the fight. They keep dying to dumb shit and wanting to try these ridiculous strategies (ignoring the adds) and then they en up kicking me. I've never been more insulted.
I also like how all healers love DK tanks now because of the self healing they do.
I hit 85 last friday, and i still haven't completed a heroic, it's been aaaaaall wipes.

Yeah, these heroics feel harder than raid encounters. Second boss in Grim Batol - good grief, took us like 6 wipes before we got it. And people are still so impatient after the complacency of wotlk, we bring in a pug and they''ll leave after a couple of wipes. Your tank just isn't going to plow through the instance in mass pulls in 10 minutes anymore, sorry. Maybe we will when we're all wearing Tier 13 gear.
If you're a dps and you have damage reducing/healing talents, TAKE THEM. Your healers will really appreciate it. As long as you actually move out of the avoidable damage.
On another note, I've been very pleased with the quests. Not only are they fun and flow from zone to zone naturally, they actually give you reasons to keep doing them after you hit 85.

I haven't played wow since cata came out, but I've seen some beta runs. It seems like if you don't have a good guild now to run five mans your screwed. I wouldn't be surprised if the population drops off after a few months or if blizz starts to nerf everything. Cause when people see some of the new raid encounters we'll hear whining like we've never heard before.

Nah, people are running pugs all the time, and they aren't all bad. People will whine regardless. If it's too easy, they'll whine about it being too easy. They will nerf content, though; they always do. Anyone remember Ulduar in the first couple of weeks before it got nerfed over and over? The trash alone in XT and Ignis was a nightmare.

pretty sure all of the mechanics in the 5mans top any raid mechanic in vanilla. Not to start this discussion but Vanilla wasn't hard, it was time consuming. And like Cosmic said people are going to complain regardless. I imagine for anyone without a guild it'll be running heroics until the next patch or they get lucky with pugs. I saw people in trade already looking for a healer. But i don't think Pugs will be downing raid content, not until they can overgear it….
