Ahhh that whole scene was one of my favorite Zoro moments. He is and will always be my favorite crew member after Luffy.

Ok there is a point in arguing about Caribou.
[…]
So please stop Caribou-bashing.
Caribou is a dumbass that will not be part of the crew, based on anything we have seen so far. What now?
Seriously, if he leaves his crew to join Luffy, it doesn't say much about him either, he will be like the blackbeard of the crew, I don't think Luffy is going to have a person like that in his crew.

We haven't even grasped the surface of his character yet. There are alot of unpredictable things that have happened during the course of this series that no-one could have predicted.
You can't rule anything out.

Yeah, okay… you're just a troll if you believe that is true.
Well I suppose you know something I dont
Yeah, okay… you're just a troll if you believe that is true.
Actually I think that if he actually believes it's true then he is not a troll, just wildly delusional.
Well I'm not Caribou bashing but at the moment there just isn't enough information on him since he's a newly introduced character. Now as we progress in the story and learn more about him then maybe i suppose, but have been times in the past where we learn of a person's past and they don't join. We've also had times where we learn their past and they were an enemy to begin with.
I'm simply saying you can't predict with 100% accuracy.
Making claims like "He will never join" are ignorant and baised.
It is still a possibility whether you like it or not. Deal with the facts :P

Yeah, we can on the virtue on him being a psycopathic killer who buries people alive for fun and the Straw Hats, you know, aren't.

Yes, their are many things that you can rule out.
Just because One Piece is capable of surprising you does not mean that it doesn't follow some sort of logic.

lol if you don't think there's any sort of consistency in One Piece.
This isn't Bleach; Oda doesn't pull random twists out of his ass with little rhyme or reason.
Were you not here during the Perona wars?

Wanna bet on this?
holds up Oda's status as a not half-assed writer

oh my bad on the misclassification.
Were you not here during the Perona wars?
I dunno, at least Perona wasn't planning on killing the crew at the time she met up with Zoro.
Try looking at it this way. If I had asked you, before Caribou was introduced, if a psychotic killer would join the crew, would you have said yes?
Edit: Please answer, I am genuinely curious to see if anyone would have.

debatable.
she probably did miss bearsy an awful lot

That's a debatable translation. The term fuku sencho which is generally used to describe first mates is never used. He calls Zoro the second, or second in command but the term first mate doesn't come up.
Hey guys I'm new and all around here, but isn't this more of a "share your opinions on who might be the next crew member" not rag on each other cause someone has an opinion that doesn't agree with you?

No, that would be like the Joker joining team Batman.
Fucking stupid!

Do you know what an internet forum is?
To answer your question if someone puts forward a retarded candidate based on the sole fact that the character had some sort of interaction with the crew, it is everyone's duty to call that person a retard.

Who has stepped foot on the Sunny and has not been a crew member or a friend?

The Thriller Bark zombies, for one.

That is not what this thread is about, it is about who will JOIN the crew, get it?

Well perhaps not that particular word, I know several retarded people, in fact, I think one of my relations is retarded, so I have always found the term fairly distasteful.
However, yes, it is incredibly unlikely that people will not bash each others opinions all day on an internet forum.

What are you trying to say? that Caribou isn't a possibility?
What are you trying to say? that Caribou isn't a possibility?
To join the crew? FUCK NO.
Surely your opinion is that it's unlikely right?
I mean you really don't have substantial evidence. I mean Luffy hasn't said no has he?
Oh I know people will always bash each other on forums. But, yeah I have my doubts that Caribou will join. It never really even crossed my mind that he would join. From what he's done so far I think he actually might be going for Luffy's head.
My vote personally is for Jimbe.
Given the 2 year time skip, it only seems "natural" for that kind of a bond to feel right. What remains to be seen is whether the SHP will declare FI their territory or leave the Kraken to defend it. IMO

Luffy also hasn't said no to a lot of people, are you suggesting that those people will be joining the crew?

I'm just stating facts; I honestly don't know why you're making a big deal out of a possibility.

Making fun of retarded theories is what spices this place up.

Nope, but he hasn't shown even the slightest interest in Caribou.
That is indeed true. But Luffys' only interest in Chopper when he first saw him was meat. It wasn't until several chapters later that he learned he was a doctor.

Wtf are you talking about, he wanted chopper because of his unique qualities. The fact that he was a talking reindeer and had seven transformations are what got him interested. He only thought of him as meat right after he woke up and before he found out chopper could speak.
I'm just stating facts; I honestly don't know why you're making a big deal out of a possibility.
I'm also stating facts in saying Luffy hasn't said no to a lot of people. I honestly don't know why you're being such an idiot as to assume Caribou joining is a possibility.

Well it technically is a possibility, in the sam way that it is possible that the sun won't rise tomorrow. Sure we don't know everything or even the smallest fraction of what there is to know so we can't say with certainty that the sun will rise tomorrow, but it's a pretty damn goo bet.

First-mate, vice-captain, second-in-command, basically the same.
It's obvious that the shark from the last chapter is going to be the last nakama =)
@Sea:

Not really there is a specific terminoligy Oda has used very precisely to refer to the job of first mate, it's why people so often translate it as vice-captain as it's a more direct translation. The way Urogue refers to Zoro in that scene is not the same.

What is the difference between a first-mate and a vice-captain?

Some people will say the vice-captain has more power… It sounds more official too.
@Sea:
What is the difference between a first-mate and a vice-captain?
There is none, but there is a difference between first-mate/vice-captain and second or second in command. My point is that when Oda directly refers to someone's position as first-mate he uses a japanese phrase that translates to vice-captain. This was not the phrase used by Urogue in the panel you quoted. Zoro has the second largest bounty, is the second strongest and in general is an obvious #2, but that doesn't neccisarily make him the first-mate… Maybe it does in your eyes, but not in mine.
First-mate means the crewmate that rank only below the captain, in other word, second in command.
Yeah somebody here apparently cannot separate second-in-command and second mate.
BTW Thanks Sea for letting me into the Army.

When there is a first-mate he would be second in command, but being the #2 doesn't neccisarily make you first-mate.

No, we must repeatedly apply the same moronic logic to justify why zoro is not the first mate, because we are too stupid to analyze the manga and can't come to any conclusion without it being spelled out for us.
When there is a first-mate he would be second in command, but being the #2 doesn't neccisarily make you first-mate.
No. Bad.
I suppose that's your well thought out response.
Seriously, I've been on these forums less then a month and already seen the dumbass logic your side presents everytime this topic is brought up, it is very ridiculous. The logic you apply is not being very fair to the author, he shouldn't have to babysit you through every little obvious thing. Just so we're clear, it makes you look like a moron when you can't conclude the basic aspects of a story after reading it for over 600 chapters.
